If your gut feels out of balance, where do you begin? In this episode, I'm breaking down some of my favorite cultured foods and beneficial microbes—from kefir and cultured vegetables to L. reuteri, S. boulardii, Bifidobacteria, HMOs, Akkermansia, and natto—and explaining how each one supports the gut in a different way. You don't need everything at once. The goal is to understand what your body may need, feed the right microbes, and slowly rebuild a healthier, more resilient microbiome. What Real Recovery From Porn Addiction Looks Like With Sathiya Sam, Founder of DeepClean™

FLAUNT! Build Your Dreams, Live Your Sparkle

When He Says He'll Change: What Real Recovery From Porn Addiction Actually Looks Like With Sathiya Sam, Founder of DeepClean™ After discovering pornography, infidelity, or other secret sexual behavior, one of the hardest questions isn't simply Why did he do it? It's Can he actually change? He may swear he'll never do it again. Delete apps. Install filters. Start therapy. Hand over his phone. Go weeks or months without pornography. And you desperately want to believe that this time is different. But how can you tell the difference between someone who has stopped a behavior—for now—and someone who is actually changing? In this episode, Lora Cheadle sits down with Sathiya Sam, founder of DeepClean™, author of The Last Relapse, and host of The Man Within podcast, for a candid conversation about pornography addiction, betrayal, relapse, and what lasting recovery really requires. Drawing from his own 15-year struggle with pornography and his work helping men recover, Sathiya explains why pornography addiction is rarely solved by willpower, promises, shame, filters, or simply trying harder. Lasting change requires getting underneath the behavior to the emotional wounds, unmet needs, nervous-system patterns, beliefs, and identity that helped create the cycle in the first place. His current DeepClean approach likewise emphasizes addressing underlying emotional wounds, core beliefs, unmet needs, regulation, identity, and relationships rather than measuring success only by abstinence. Lora and Sathiya also address the question so many betrayed partners struggle with: What is my role in his recovery? Because supporting someone is not the same as recovering for them. You cannot love him enough, monitor him enough, become a "superwife," have more sex, make his life easier, or find the perfect words that will make him change. His recovery belongs to him. Your healing belongs to you. And perhaps most importantly, recovery doesn't have to mean returning to the relationship you had before. When someone genuinely addresses the roots of addiction, the goal isn't simply a man who no longer watches pornography. It's a man who knows himself better, regulates himself differently, communicates more honestly, takes responsibility for his needs and behavior, and begins showing up differently in his marriage and his life.   Top 3 Takeaways Stopping the behavior is not the same as healing what created it. A promise to stop, an internet filter, accountability software, or a period of abstinence may change behavior without addressing its roots. Sathiya describes lasting recovery as developing self-awareness, healing underlying emotional wounds and unmet needs, and shifting identity—not merely becoming better at resisting pornography. Look for trends of transformation, not just streaks of abstinence. Instead of asking only, How many days has he been "clean"?, look at what is changing in the man. Can he name his emotions and needs? Regulate himself during difficult conversations? Talk about what he's uncovering without becoming immediately defensive? Take responsibility for his recovery? Communicate honestly about both struggles and progress? As Sathiya explains, a relapse does not automatically erase every bit of growth—and a long streak does not necessarily prove the underlying problem has healed. You can support his recovery, but you cannot do it for him. One of the most painful truths for a betrayed partner is that you cannot make someone want recovery more than they want it themselves. Your job is not to become his accountability partner or work harder for his healing than he does. Your work is getting your own support, processing your pain safely, establishing and upholding your boundaries, and paying attention to what his behavior—not merely his promises—is showing you. Favorite Quotes “He kind of has to want to change more than you want him to change for anything to actually change.” — Sathiya Sam “I would rather be 100% my true self and rejected than 80% my true self and accepted.” — Sathiya Sam “This is not about him not loving her. This is not about him not valuing the marriage or the relationship or their kids.” — Lora Cheadle   About Sathiya Sam Sathiya Sam is the founder of DeepClean™, an author, international speaker, former university researcher and pastor, and host of The Man Within podcast. After his own long struggle with pornography, Sathiya developed a root-focused approach to helping men move beyond addictive behaviors by addressing emotional wounds, unmet needs, regulation, faith, relationships, and identity. His book, The Last Relapse, expands on the principles discussed in this episode, including why lasting freedom requires more than willpower or surface-level behavior modification. Ken Berenger has lost everything… twice. And each time, he found a way to rebuild not only his career and finances, but also his understanding of success, purpose, faith, and who he wanted to become. In this deeply personal conversation, Dr. Dan and Ken explore the experiences that shaped Ken's extraordinary resilience. Ken shares how a young singer with a mullet unexpectedly found himself on Wall Street, how financial success became intertwined with his identity and self-worth, and what happened when that success disappeared. Ken also opens up about the profound influence of his father, a hardworking ironworker who taught him lessons about family, contentment, character, and what it really means to be successful. He shares the emotional story of performing CPR on his father and receiving five more years with him before his recent passing. Through financial collapse, divorce, Superstorm Sandy, career reinvention, and the difficult work of rebuilding, Ken developed a simple practice: keep showing up. Prayer, gratitude, physical discipline, humility, and faith became anchors when he couldn't see what was coming next. Dr. Dan and Ken also discuss the danger of tying self-worth to productivity, why receiving help can sometimes be harder than giving it, the importance of having a few people who genuinely want to know how you're doing, and how adversity can eventually become one of life's greatest teachers. Ken's story is a powerful reminder that resilience doesn't mean having all the answers. Sometimes it simply means refusing to quit, staying open to what life is trying to show you, and trusting that your worst moment does not define your life. Your self-worth is bigger than your productivity. Success, income, titles, and accomplishments can disappear. Who you are does not have to disappear with them. Resilience is built by continuing to show up. You don't always need to know how everything will work out. Sometimes the next right step is simply getting through today and doing it again tomorrow. Adversity can become an opportunity for growth. Ken believes some of the greatest gifts in his life came from experiences he never would have chosen for himself. Receiving is part of strength. Allowing someone else to help you can require tremendous humility, but accepting love and support can also transform relationships. Notice the grace in ordinary moments. Growth and self-awareness help us recognize the small moments of beauty, connection, and gratitude that were there all along. “The microbiome world is moving from supplementation towards ecosystem restoration.” - Danielle ArnoldFor a long time, the functional medicine approach to gut health focused on getting rid of what shouldn't be there. It was all about finding the overgrowth, using antimicrobials, adding probiotics, and rebuilding. Those tools are still useful, but our understanding of the microbiome has become much more sophisticated. Now, we can think about restoring the gut's ecosystem, including the keystone species that help create an environment where beneficial bacteria can thrive, and opportunistic bacteria have a much harder time taking over. With the complex clients we see as women's health practitioners, this shift becomes especially important. Someone with endometriosis, histamine intolerance, MCAS, long COVID, metabolic dysfunction, or significant digestive symptoms may not be able to jump straight into eating 45 grams of fiber a day. Sometimes we have to work in a very specific order, supporting digestion, reducing overgrowth, rebuilding beneficial species, and then gradually giving those microbes the fibers and polyphenols they need. The goal is not simply a better stool test. It's a more resilient gut ecosystem that can better support the immune system, nervous system, hormone health, and the rest of the body.In today's episode, I'm joined by Dr. Oscar Coetzee and Danielle Arnold, CNS, from Designs for Health for a wonderfully nerdy conversation about what we now know about rebuilding the gut microbiome. We talk about new research on keystone species like Akkermansia, Faecalibacterium, and Roseburia, how these microbes work together, when antimicrobials may still be useful, why the order of treatment matters for sensitive clients, histamine and hormone health, H. pylori, digestive function, fiber and polyphenols, stool testing, how better gut microbiome support can become part of our clinical thinking, and more.Enjoy the episode, and let's innovate and integrate together!---Learn more or watch the video version of this conversation at https://integrativewomenshealthinstitute.com/how-to-rebuild-a-healthy-gut-microbiome-with-dr-oscar-coetzee-and-danielle-arnold/.Connect with me and access our entire platform at IntegrativeWomensHealthInstitute.com (https://integrativewomenshealthinstitute.com/).Find and follow us @integrativewomenshealth on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@integrativewomenshealth) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/integrativewomenshealth/).

How Do You Know If Your Unfaithful Partner Is Really Changing?

--With Sam's Healing Podcast After infidelity, promises can sound reassuring—but how do you know whether your partner is actually changing? In this episode, Lora Cheadle talks with Sam from Sam's Healing Podcast about what real recovery looks like on the unfaithful side of betrayal. They explore why actions matter more than apologies, why the unfaithful partner needs to take initiative instead of waiting to be managed, and why becoming teachable, confrontable, and emotionally mature is essential for rebuilding trust. They also discuss communication tools like AVR—acknowledge, validate, reassure—along with self-regulation, co-regulation, childhood patterns, boundaries, and the difference between performing recovery and genuinely becoming someone new.   Top 3 Takeaways Stop listening only to what they say. Watch what they do. Promises like “It will never happen again” have very little value if they are not backed by consistent behavior. Real change shows up between sessions: seeking help, reading, doing exercises, attending meetings when appropriate, learning new skills, telling the truth, following through, and taking initiative without being parented by the betrayed partner. The unfaithful partner goes first. The person who created the rupture has a responsibility to lead the repair. That means booking appointments, finding resources, doing the work, becoming teachable and open to correction, and learning how to respond to the betrayed partner's pain rather than becoming defensive or demanding that they “get over it.” Healing requires more than understanding why the affair happened. Childhood wounds and family-of-origin patterns matter, but insight alone does not automatically create empathy, emotional maturity, communication skills, or safety. Both partners eventually need to learn self-regulation and co-regulation, while the unfaithful partner demonstrates through consistent action that they are becoming someone capable of rebuilding trust.   Favorite Quotes “Forget about what they're saying. Look at what they're doing.” —Sam “The only currency is action.” —Sam “There is a time where we as unfaithful stop saying what we will do. We just do it.” —Sam “You can't regulate yourself out of a toxic relationship.” —Lora Cheadle   About Sam Sam's Healing Podcast is brought to you by one of Infidelity Recovery's most prominent and renowned influencers and YouTubers. The reason your kid melts down over a puzzle has nothing to do with the puzzle. It's about whether they've ever been shown that frustration is survivable instead of something to run from. Dr. Becky Kennedy, a clinical psychologist who spent years teaching parents the textbook model built on timeouts and sticker charts, once stopped mid-session with a paying couple and told them she no longer believed what she was teaching them. That moment of honesty became the seed of Good Inside. She walks through the three lines she leans on with her own kids in almost any hard moment, starting with letting them know she's glad they came to her at all. It sounds small, but she says it might be the single most healing thing a parent can offer a kid who's struggling. Boundaries come up too, and she reframes them completely. A boundary isn't a threat or a punishment, it's what lets a kid feel like someone calm is actually flying the plane, even while they're the one melting down in the back. By the end you'll understand why she thinks punishment quietly teaches kids the opposite of what parents intend, and why she keeps coming back to one word above all: repair. Brian Madjo's goal was the night's one moment of real distinction, making the 17-year-old the youngest player ever to score in a Super Cup final. This week's episode is a catch-up recorded before the season proper begins, working through what is actually happening and what it means. The decision to name Emiliano Martínez, Ezri Konsa and Ollie Watkins in the squad but not play any of them is picked apart directly, alongside the individual performances that did go well — Madjo's redemption arc after missing earlier chances. We also look at the goalkeeper saga that's reopened: the move for Zion Suzuki from Parma and Juventus playing footsy with Martinez, only to do the dirty on him.It closes on the bigger picture — the scale of this summer's overhaul, described on the show as bigger than anything seen under Unai Emery at Villa so far, and the uncertainty it brings for the season ahead.UTVNew Adidas Originals collection and away kit coming 22.08.26Get three months free and huge savings on a two-year NordVPN plan here Become a MOMS Member for ad-free & extra shows - MOMS MembershipJoin the show's listener Facebook group The Mad Few.Credits:David Michael - @myoldmansaid | Chris Budd - @BUDD_music / Phillip Shaw - @prsgameThis Podcast has been created and uploaded by My Old Man Said. This episode unpacks reporting that U.S. munitions stockpiles are dangerously low and lays out the consequences of the shortage both for Washington's ongoing war with Iran, and for its deterrence of adversaries.   Host: James M. Lindsay, Mary and David Boies Distinguished Senior Fellow in U.S. Foreign Policy, CFR   Guest: Michael C. Horowitz, Senior Fellow for Technology and Innovation and Director of the Defense and National Security Program, CFR   We Discuss: Whether news reports of a serious depletion of U.S. high-tech weapons stocks are accurate, and how far inventories have been drawn down. The distinction between defensive interceptors, such as Patriot and THAAD, and offensive standoff weapons, such as Tomahawks and ATACMS, and how long each takes to produce. How the roots of the munitions crisis trace back to decisions in the 1990s—including the "Last Supper" defense industry consolidation—that prioritized quality over quantity. Why President Donald Trump's argument that the shortage stems from Biden-era weapons transfers to Ukraine misses deeper structural causes. How chokepoints—from Chinese rare-earth dominance to consolidated tier-two and tier-three suppliers—make ramping up production slow and costly. Why the Pentagon has been slow to shift its acquisition strategy despite nearly a decade of warnings about renewed great power competition, and how "not invented here" attitudes compound the problem. Whether budget austerity would spur innovation or choke it, and how "precise mass" could revitalize U.S. capabilities within a two-year window. How much the current drawdown threatens deterrence at a moment when the United States is left without an aircraft carrier in the Western Pacific.   Mentioned on the Episode:   Rush Doshi, Erin D. The good news is that God specializes in restoring and rebuilding lives. Millions of people have experienced His grace and power. They have seen God pick them up out of the ruins and turn their lives around.Main Points:1. Today there are many whose lives are falling apart. Their marriages have been destroyed. There is conflict and difficulty within the family relationships.  Many have experienced collapse due to sin and rebellion against God. They have left behind a trail of mistakes, failures, and poor decisions. Others battle addictions and brokenness. Where there was once health and vitality, there is now rubble and debris.2. Maybe you need God's restoration power in your life and you wonder where to start? How do you begin to pick up the pieces of a life that has been broken apart? The answer is to follow the example of Ezra. Rebuild the altar. 3. With humility, rebuild the altar in your life. No, not a physical altar or a piece of furniture where you would kneel to pray. Building an altar means you are turning to God for help. You are establishing a relationship with God. You are reaching out in prayer to a God of grace. He's a God who wants to restore.Today's Scripture Verses:2 Kings 25:1,9 - “Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem with his whole army. He set fire to the temple of the Lord, the royal palace and all the houses of Jerusalem. Every important building he burned down. The whole Babylonian army under the commander of the imperial guard broke down the walls around Jerusalem.”Ezra 3:3 - “Despite their fear of the peoples around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the Lord, both the morning and evening sacrifices.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

President Trump secured the border and Republicans preserved key tax cuts, but they have failed to enact durable reforms of the federal bureaucracy, restrain $7.4 trillion in federal outlays, or force decisive votes on election integrity. Send us Fan MailWhat if the most painful part of betrayal isn't the betrayal itself? What if it's realizing that you've spent years living by rules you never consciously chose? In this episode of The Dimple Bindra Show, I sat down with scientist, wellness coach, researcher, and author Apurva Sawhney for a powerful conversation about identity, conditioning, self-abandonment, and the expectations women inherit from family, culture, and society.Together, we explore why so many women lose themselves in relationships, why betrayal often triggers a deep identity crisis, and how years of living according to "shoulds" can disconnect us from who we really are.We talk about: • Why women blame themselves after betrayal • The hidden cost of people-pleasing • Fear, guilt, shame, and cultural conditioning • How to stop self-abandoning and start trusting yourself • Why being "good" isn't always healthy • The difference between being broken and being badly managed • How to rebuild your life on your own termsThis episode is for any woman who has ever asked herself:"Am I living my life, or the life other people expected me to live?"If you've been betrayed, questioning everything, or trying to find yourself again after years of putting everyone else first, this conversation will challenge you to think differently and help you reconnect with your own voice. Because healing isn't just about recovering from betrayal.Sometimes it's about unlearning everything that taught you to betray yourself.

How to Make Decisions After Infidelity When Every Choice Feels Wrong

After betrayal, every decision can feel catastrophic. Stay or leave? Give more grace or set a harder boundary? Invest in support or save the money in case you need it later? When your brain is hyperalert, every possibility can begin to look like proof that one wrong choice will ruin your future. In this episode, Lora Cheadle explores why hypervigilance can disguise itself as careful decision-making—and why self-trust does not mean making perfect choices. Through the story of rebuilding her home after a devastating sewer explosion, along with her own experiences of choosing beauty, pleasure, and higher standards, Lora shows how recovery shifts when you stop trying to recreate the old or justify every choice and begin creating a life that genuinely reflects who you are now. Top 3 Takeaways 1. Hypervigilance can make every possibility look like catastrophe. After betrayal, your brain is trying to protect you from ever being blindsided again. That can turn thoughtful decision-making into endless analysis, freezing, catastrophizing, and searching for guarantees that do not exist. 2. Self-trust is not making the perfect decision. Self-trust means knowing that you can choose, experience what happens, gather more information, ask for help, reassess, change direction, and choose again. A decision that does not turn out perfectly is not proof that there is something wrong with you. 3. Recovery is not about rebuilding the old life. Whether you stay, leave, remodel your marriage, or create something entirely new, the deeper question is what you want your life to feel like now. Higher standards are not perfectionism. They are a willingness to value truth, emotional safety, beauty, pleasure, self-respect, and a life that feels fully yours. Favorite Quotes “Familiar does not mean it's automatically right. Cheap does not mean it's automatically the wisest decision. Practical does not automatically mean it's aligned with who you are and where you're going.” “Beauty and loving yourself and loving your surroundings…is evidence that you've come back to life.” “Your decisions do not have to be perfect. You just need to trust yourself enough to manage your life.” About Lora Lora Cheadle, JD, CHt is a former attorney turned betrayal recovery coach, hypnotherapist, and author who helps women rebuild their identity and reclaim their power after infidelity and profound emotional betrayal. You're constantly trying to stay ahead of the next urge. You journal, exercise, pray, read recovery books, listen to podcasts, attend meetings, install filters, avoid triggers, track your streak, and fill your day with recovery activities—hoping that if you do enough, pornography won't become a problem again. The problem is that many men spend years working hard on porn addiction recovery without ever working on the specific issue that's actually driving their pornography use. In this episode, I explain why lasting freedom from porn doesn't come from doing more recovery activities—it comes from doing the right work. Instead of treating every struggle the same way, you'll learn how to identify the real source of the pressure that's leading you back to pornography and choose recovery tools that actually match the problem. We'll talk about why stress, overwhelm, shame, low self-worth, loneliness, emotional disconnection, and relationship conflict all require different approaches. You'll discover why so many men stay stuck in the cycle of pornography addiction even while doing "all the right things," and how targeted recovery can help you stop relying on willpower alone. We'll also discuss two of the biggest marriage challenges after porn addiction: helping your wife see the progress you're making and learning how to have difficult conversations without shame, defensiveness, or emotional shutdown. Real porn addiction recovery isn't just about stopping pornography. It's about becoming the kind of husband who can handle stress, navigate emotions, rebuild trust, and stay connected when life gets difficult. Whether you're trying to quit porn, overcome pornography addiction, prevent another porn relapse, rebuild trust after betrayal, or finally experience lasting porn addiction recovery, this episode will help you focus your energy where it will make the biggest difference. In This Episode: Why traditional porn addiction recovery often feels exhausting The difference between busy recovery and targeted recovery How to identify the real root causes of pornography addiction Matching the right recovery tool to the right problem Overcoming stress, shame, and emotional triggers Building healthier coping skills instead of relying on pornography Rebuilding trust after porn addiction How to create lasting freedom from porn Why more recovery isn't always better recovery The recovery mindset that leads to long-term change

What if joy wasn't something you had to wait for  — but something you could actually adopt into your life?If you're rebuilding after divorce or navigating a recent loss and are quietly wondering whether you're allowed to feel good again while you're still grieving — this episode is for you. Most of us treat grief and joy as opposites, as if one has to end before the other can begin. My guest today gently dismantles that idea. Her argument is the reverse: your capacity for joy grows in direct proportion to the pain you've allowed yourself to experience. So the question isn't how to get past the grief — it's how to hold both at the same time.My guest is SC Perot. A Stanford Law graduate, Vanderbilt adjunct faculty member, and author of Styles of Joy. After the pandemic, a divorce, and a career shift that dismantled the life she'd planned, SC took a grief sabbatical that led her to 17 Harry Styles concerts across five countries in ten months — and to an entirely new understanding of what joy can look like after loss. In this conversation we explore the identity loss that quietly lives inside divorce grief, why escapism only works when it runs alongside doing the inner work, and the Japanese concept of borrowed views — a practice for turning jealousy into genuine delight in other people's good news. SC also shares her four-part CAPS framework for making joy a skill you build through repetition, and lays out what life after divorce can look like when you stop settling for just okay.In this episode, you'll learn:Why SC says the opposite of joyful is jealousy — and how you can catch envy before it takes holdWhat a grief break is, and how to tell it apart from bypassing your painHow happy music became part of SC's healing journey — and what it means to build a new soundtrack for a new lifeWhy sitting fully inside divorce grief expands your capacity for joyHow the doctrine of borrowed views lets you adopt other people's joy as your ownHow an abundance mindset replaces the scarcity story that someone else's good news means less for youThe 4-part CAPS framework — cultivate, adopt, protect, and spread — and which part trips people up mostHow SC's body told her it was time for a career pivot before her mind caught upWhy collective joy counteracts lonely grief — and where to find it without a concert ticketHow the three circles of connection — intimate, relational, and communal — protect you from loneliness after divorce or anytime.Whether you're deep in divorce recovery or simply carrying more than you expected this season — this conversation offers something rare: a concrete, compassionate path back to more joyful living and feeling like yourself again.Much love and freedom,LaurieFree ResourcesClick here to schedule a FREE inquiry call with me.Click here for my FREE “Beginner's Guide to Somatic Healing”Click here for my FREE Core Values ExerciseConnect with me:Click here to purchase my “Nervous System Regulation Starter Kit” it's $29.99Click here to purchase my book: Sandwiched: A Memoir of Holding On and Letting GoWebsiteInstagramSubstackWant to try somatic work for free? This is a Wednesday Wins Q&A, with Larry joined by his longtime co-host Joe Bailey to tackle a question that lands for almost every married dad. Mike from Washington State wrote in about a marriage that isn't broken, no fighting, no affairs, but feels more like two coworkers running a small company called the family. He and his wife talk schedules, kids, and bills, physical intimacy has slowed, and as he puts it, he misses her even though she's only six feet away. Larry breaks down the four pillars of marriage from Lance and Brandi's work, individual, partnership, friends, and intimacy, and explains how couples get stuck in the partnership loop and skip straight to intimacy, which backfires. Joe follows with the idea of getting used to the light again after emotional disconnection, releasing resentment, and making small pursuits without attaching expectations. If your marriage feels more like a business partnership than a romance, this one is a practical roadmap back.   Timeline Summary [1:02] – Setting up Mike's question about a marriage that feels like a business partnership [2:12] – Mike's full letter: coworkers running a company called our family [3:46] – Larry on his own first decade feeling exactly the same way [4:05] – The four pillars of marriage from Lance and Brandi's book [4:46] – Pillar one, individual: self-care and emotional check-ins by percentage [5:42] – Pillar two, partnership: the bills, roles, and chores, aka the partnership loop [5:59] – Pillar three, friends: shared interests and real alignment [6:21] – Pillar four, intimacy, and why it collapses when the others are neglected [6:47] – How couples skip friendship and self and jump straight to intimacy [7:26] – Disrupting the partnership loop by cultivating friendship first [7:49] – The walk-and-date boundary: be Larry and Jessica, not Mom and Dad [8:13] – Bookending conversations with appreciation so your partner feels seen [8:30] – Adventuring together and asking bucket-list questions [9:34] – Why men eradicate their own self-care and isolate [12:12] – Joe on living this exact dynamic in his own marriage [12:32] – The dark-theater analogy: getting used to the light again [13:35] – Step one, release resentment when reconnection feels uncomfortable [14:02] – Be persistent and stop attaching sex to every act of connection [14:27] – Small pursuits: flowers and a coffee dropped off at Ivy's work, just because [15:46] – Small investments compound like a financial portfolio [16:40] – Stop keeping score and get in the habit of just investing [16:59] – The car story: we love the things we invest in [20:07] – Loving your wife publicly and without agenda [20:44] – Loving her in front of the kids and her mother [21:48] – The Hitch analogy and winning over the people around her [22:14] – The marriage hack: your mother in law as your greatest ally   5 Key Takeaways Marriage Has Four Pillars — Individual, partnership, friends, and intimacy. When you neglect self-care, friendship, and quality time and jump straight to intimacy, it falls flat. Intimacy is the natural result of the other three working. Escape the Partnership Loop — If every conversation is about schedules, bills, and who needs to be where, you're stuck in the partnership loop. Break out by rebuilding the friendship: dates, walks, adventures, and conversations where you're a couple, not just co-parents. Get Used to the Light Again — After emotional disconnection, reconnecting feels awkward and uncomfortable for both people. Expect that, release resentment about it, and don't attach worst-case scenarios to the discomfort. Make Small Pursuits Without Agenda — Drop off flowers just because, and don't attach any expectation of sex, because she'll sniff that out instantly. Stop keeping score and keep making small investments, and the connection compounds over time. We Love What We Invest In — Don't wait to feel the love before you invest. As the car story shows, investment creates love, not the other way around. Love your wife publicly and without agenda, and let her people, especially her mother, become your allies.   Links & Resources Episode page and all links: https://thedadedge.com/1516 Legendary Couple with Larry and Jessica: https://thedadedge.com/legendary-couple/ Dad Edge Day with the Arizona Cardinals (November 15, Cardinals vs Rams, State Farm Stadium): https://thedadedge.com/nfl   Enjoyed This Episode? If Mike's letter read like a page out of your own marriage, pick one small pursuit and do it this week with zero agenda. Drop off her favorite coffee, take a walk where you're just the two of you again, and stop waiting to feel connected before you invest. David Daoud explains Iran is currently leveraging negotiations with the U.S. to secure a ceasefire that protects Hezbollah from further Israeli military pressure while allowing the group to rebuild. Critics argue that U.S. security assistance to the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) is a poor investment, as the LAF lacks the political will to disarm Hezbollah within its own borders. While a fragile ceasefire has shifted active war toward localized "policing operations" and skirmishes, Hezbollah explicitly rejects any linkage between an Israeli withdrawal and its own disarmament. The Trump administration is reportedly prioritizing "quiet" in Lebanon, which has forced Israeli forces into a more reactive posture. (4)

What's muscle memory, and can your muscles really remember previous strength gains after months away from training?Amy Hudson and Dr. James Fisher break down muscle memory and how to regain your strength after a break. They explore the latest research on biological muscle memory, muscle cells, and why every strength workout leaves lasting changes. Whether you've taken time off because of injury, surgery, travel, or life getting in the way, this episode explains why you may not be starting from scratch. Tune in to discover how muscle memory works, what happens inside your muscles after time away from training, and why building strength today can make it easier to rebuild muscle in the future.Show Notes Dr. Fisher explains the difference between the two types of muscle memory. He explains why remembering how to ride a bike comes from your nervous system, while rebuilding lost muscle after time away from the gym is a completely different biological process.Discover why strength training changes your muscles long after the workout ends. Dr. Fisher explains how resistance training adds permanent changes inside muscle cells that help the body regain strength more quickly after a break.Amy and Dr. Fisher discuss the fascinating science of muscle memory at the cellular level. They explain how muscles retain extra myonuclei after growing, making it easier to rebuild size and strength even after periods of inactivity.Dr. Fisher explains how strength training may also create "epigenetic muscle memory." Learn how repeated resistance exercise can reprogram the body's response to future training, helping muscles adapt more efficiently when you start again. Why personal training before surgery may be one of the smartest investments you can make. Dr. Fisher reveals how building strength beforehand can improve recovery while making it easier to regain lost muscle after time away from exercise.Amy and Dr. Fisher explain why you're never too young or too old to start strength training. They discuss how building muscle earlier in life creates a reserve that can help you recover more effectively from illness, injury, or future setbacks.Dr. Fisher shares what research suggests about rebuilding muscle after a training break. Most people can regain lost strength in roughly half the time they spent away, although age, activity levels, sleep, and nutrition all influence recovery.Discover why staying active during a break from lifting can speed up your return. Dr. Fisher covers how activities like walking, hiking, cycling, or swimming may reduce muscle loss and make it easier to regain strength later.Amy and Dr. Fisher discuss the famous Colorado Experiment and the remarkable story of Casey Viator. They explain how an extreme case of rapid muscle regain helped demonstrate just how powerful biological muscle memory can be, despite ongoing debate about the experiment.Dr. Fisher explains how strengthening the body before an operation can improve recovery, even if the area requiring surgery can't be trained directly.Dr. Fisher explains why every strength workout matters, even if you know you'll have to stop training soon. Learn how a single resistance workout begins creating positive adaptations that the body may later "remember" when rebuilding muscle.Amy and Dr. Fisher challenge the all-or-nothing mindset around exercise. They explain why waiting for the "perfect time" to start training may cause you to miss valuable long-term benefits that begin with your very first workout.Dr. Fisher explains why personal trainers encourage consistency over perfection. Ready for more clarity and less confusion around health anxiety? Rebuild trust in your body through daily guidance and nervous system retraining with the Health Anxiety Recovery Program. Start here: https://anxietyguyprograms.com Today's Episode on Anxiety and Burnout: What Is Your Body Trying to Tell You?  What if some of the exhaustion you experience is not only about how much you are doing, but how much of yourself you are overriding while doing it? In today's episode, we explore the connection between anxiety, burnout, prolonged nervous system activation, people pleasing, emotional suppression, and repeatedly ignoring what your body is communicating. You may wake up feeling tired, tense, dizzy, heavy, or mentally drained and immediately assume you did too much physically. But another question may be more revealing: What did I override? Maybe you wanted to say no but said yes. Maybe you felt anger or resentment but stayed quiet. Maybe you kept performing, pleasing, smiling, or pushing forward while internally bracing. Over time, constantly overriding these internal signals can become biological work and contribute to prolonged activation. The body may first communicate quietly through tension, irritation, fatigue, resistance, or a simple internal feeling of no. When those signals are repeatedly ignored, the body may begin turning up the volume. The goal is not to analyze every sensation or allow symptoms to control your life. It is to become more honest and responsive to yourself. Sometimes that means resting, speaking up, asking for help, setting a boundary, or saying no. Other times it means recognizing fear while still moving toward something you genuinely want. Instead of immediately asking, "How do I get rid of this symptom?" ask, "What is my body actually showing me here?" And at the end of the day, ask yourself: "What is my body trying to tell me right now?" and "What has my body been trying to tell me all day?" ▶️ Listen and Subscribe
