We're marking Rare Disease Month 2026 by highlighting the powerful story of Shanthi Hegde, a young patient advocate working to transform how bleeding disorders are understood, treated, and supported. This work is fueled by her own arduous journey with two rare bleeding disorders and immune dysregulatory syndrome, and an extended diagnostic odyssey marked by dismissal, underdiagnosis, and structural bias. “I was told many times by many providers that these disorders are not common in Indians and that my bruises were there just because I'm brown.” Admirably, Shanthi pushed past this mistreatment, advocated for her medical needs, and devoted herself to tackling a range of issues confronting rare disease patients from mental health access to affordable drug pricing to research equity. In this remarkable Year of the Zebra conversation with host Lindsey Smith, you'll also learn about: Shanti's work with the Hemophilia Federation of America; How gaps extend beyond treatment to include insurance coverage, provider training, and substance use care; What clinicians can do to improve the work they do with rare disease patients. Join us for a conversation that connects patient voice to system change, and explores what real equity for rare disease communities will require. In this episode, Pastor Cindy talks about how our Obedience is the fuel to our advancement. It is God's will for us to advance. For us to prosper. Everything we experience is meant to teach us lessons that will help in our advancement. Oftentimes we allow our past experiences and setbacks to keep us from taking the necessary risks to move forward with God. When we obey God we are simply exercising our faith. It is faith that is the difference between believing and understanding. We believe for what God promises us but we don't have to fully understand in order for our faith to be activated. God is going to raise a generation that is willing to take risks for the advancement of the Kingdom Scripture references: Jeremiah 32:17, Luke 1:37, Mark 11:22-24, Romans 4:21, Matthew 6:10, Mark 9:37, John 10:10, Ephesians 3:20, Ephesians 4:12, Nehemiah 2:18, Judges 7:2-12, Joshua 1:5-9, Joshua 1:7, Nehemiah 1:8, Nehemiah 2:18, 20, 1 Kings 17:8-16, Acts 4:29-35, Acts 19:11-12, Acts 28:3-5, 7-10. Sarah Ferguson reportedly spent January at a $13,000-a-night Swiss wellness retreat as Epstein headlines resurfaced — a stay that could total nearly $400,000.An insider said: “Sarah went just after Christmas and stayed until the end of January… she'll get love and attention there.” Critics immediately questioned who paid.Express columnist Chris Riches asked: “… frankly how did she afford it?” before suggesting, “perhaps someone should simply hide her bank cards.”The scrutiny comes as fresh Andrew claims resurface. A masseuse told the Daily Mail: “He disappeared to the bathroom and came back in the nude. I averted my eyes and I was quite embarrassed,” later adding he was “very nice and very gentlemanly.”An ex-protection officer also resurfaced, saying Andrew was “the most unpopular member of the royal family” and that “his sense of self-entitlement was breathtaking.”The damage control continues — but the headlines aren't slowing down.Get episodes of Palace Intrigue by becommming a paid subscriber on Apple Podcasts. Get free marketing videos from Donald Miller every week at: https://WeeklySoundbite.com/ You can have a great product and a smart marketing plan and still lose sales because your message starts in the wrong place. Big companies do it. Small businesses do it. They lead with features, backstory, and big ideas before customers even know why they should care. When that happens, people tune out. It's not that your product isn't good. It's that your message isn't clear fast enough. If customers are bouncing from your website or ignoring your ads, could it be that you're explaining too much before you've earned their attention? In this episode, host Donald Miller shows why the order of your message matters more than you think. Using real business examples, he explains how one simple shift in wording can unlock growth and how starting in the wrong place can quietly stall it. You'll learn how to grab attention, build trust, and guide customers toward a decision without overwhelming them. If you want marketing that actually works, this episode will show you what to say first and what to say next. Synopsis: Why is the sexism at the heart of Trumpism taken so lightly? This show is made possible by you! To become a sustaining member go to LauraFlanders.org/donateDescription: Donald Trump has a long record of demeaning and berating women. He's also linked to Jeffrey Epstein and his name appears literally thousands of times in relation to what is arguably the biggest, sickest sex abuse scandal ever. So why is the sexism at the heart of Trumpism taken so lightly? In this episode, we look at how sexism functions in today's fascist resurgence with experts Nina Burleigh, Rev. Naomi Washington-Leapheart and Annie Wilkinson. Burleigh is a journalist, best-selling author, documentary producer, and publisher of “American Freakshow” on Substack. Rev. Washington-Leapheart is a minister, professor, and the first-ever Strategic Partnerships Director at Political Research Associates (PRA), a social justice research and strategy center founded in 1981 by the feminist political scientist Jean Hardisty. In 2025 PRA dedicated an entire issue of their journal to the relationship between gender and authoritarianism, with a lead essay written by Wilkinson. Hear what our guests are taking away from the Epstein story, why authoritarians are afraid of feminism, and how women's leadership poses such a threat to fascists. All that, plus a commentary from Laura on impunity in our times.“It's not just about a sex case. It's not just about the mistreatment of women, I'm sorry to say, because that's a big part of it. It's the underpinning of how Epstein maybe was operating. It's really about influence, foreign affairs, and the way the last 20 years of American foreign policy has played out.” - Nina Burleigh“The most unprotected women in the United States throughout our history have been Black women . . . It's sort of okay for a MAGA influencer to say that Black women have brains that process more slowly than any, and nobody challenges that.” - Rev. Many people want help getting free from lust and sexual sin. However, not many people want freedom over a love of the world. The problem is, if our lives are full of worldliness, we are fueling the very desires that feed lust. That means freedom will be very difficult, if not impossible. The Bible repeatedly gives evidence of this. Look at Lot, Samson, King Solomon, the entire nation Israel… But there is a way to come out of it and into a life of victory, and that's what Director of Ministry Outreach, Patrick Hudson, shares about in today's sermon from Psalm 73. Episode 132: This week, Kyle Van Pelt talks with Andrew Evans, Chief Executive Officer of Rossby. Before Rossby, Andrew served as Executive Vice President at TAG Advisors and as a Securities Principal at Cambridge Investment Research. Andrew talks with Kyle about entrepreneurship, growth, and designing better businesses. With a background in musical theater and a career that spans mortgage brokerage and financial advising, Andrew shares the parallels between creative careers and financial services, why repeatable processes beat flashy marketing plans, and how thoughtful design can transform the advisor experience. In this episode: (00:00) - Intro (01:39) - Andrew's money moment (04:55) - Parallels between mortgage brokerage and financial advising (07:07) - How Andrew built his early book of business (11:50) - The financial-planning version of a closing credit (13:07) - Redefining traditional conferences with The Unconference (16:41) - How The Unconference generates the best business ideas (19:43) - What it means to drive business forward (25:04) - The concept of "less but better" in business and technology (28:39) - Designing intuitive systems and reducing operational friction (32:22) - Creativity, patience, and building differently (35:16) - Andrew's outlook on the future of the financial services industry (44:13) - Andrew's Milemarket Minute Key Takeaways Whether you're selling a mortgage or a financial plan, technical skills are just the baseline. The real growth comes from mastering interpersonal and psychological engagement and understanding the emotional drivers behind a client's financial decisions. Plan a repeatable process. Growth becomes sustainable when your marketing and operations are simple enough to execute consistently every day. Design for less but better. Complexity is the enemy of efficiency. In leadership and tech, aim for intuitive design that reduces clicks and surprises. Your goal should be to create a "source of truth" for data that lets your team spend less time on administration and more time on high-value work. The best ideas at any conference or meeting rarely come from the person at the podium. They happen in the hallways, over coffee, or during shared activities. Quotes "Nobody gains great ideas by sitting there and being lectured at. It doesn't happen. The best stuff happens in the conversations on the edges." ~ Andrew Evans "You can't satisfy everyone. Whatever you've decided on for your firm's tech stack, someone is going to hate it. So, design for the firm's data integrity first, then let them pick their tools." ~ Andrew Evans "Focus on where your practice's source of truth is. That's where you really need your agent. Keep it focused. Keep it tight." ~ Andrew Evans Links Andrew Evans on LinkedIn Rossby Financial Raymond James The Unconference Kelsey McKenna Seeds Investor Midquel McClendon Capital Square The Design of Everyday Things Redtail Technology Wealthbox Advisor360 eMoney Advisor The Lord Of The Rings Connect with our hosts Milemarker.co Kyle on LinkedIn Jud on LinkedIn Subscribe and stay in touch Apple Podcasts Spotify YouTube Produce game-changing content with Turncast Turncast helps your company grow by producing top-quality content and fostering transformative conversations. Future-Proofing B2B Marketing: AI, Omnichannel Strategies, and Decades of Wisdom with Melih OztalayIn this episode of The Thoughtful Entrepreneur Podcast, host Josh Elledge sits down with Melih Oztalay, the CEO of SmartFinds Marketing, to explore the seismic shifts currently reshaping the B2B landscape. With a marketing career spanning back to 1987, Melih offers a rare perspective on how to bridge the gap between traditional advertising principles and the hyper-accelerated world of AI-driven engagement. This conversation serves as a strategic roadmap for leaders looking to move beyond single-channel tactics and embrace a holistic, 360-degree approach that leverages cutting-edge technology to drive measurable business growth and long-term client loyalty.Navigating the Convergence of AI and Human-Centric MarketingThe transition from being a traditional agency to an AI-powered marketing powerhouse requires a fundamental shift in how business leaders view their digital presence. Melih explains that the current era of B2B marketing is defined by the rise of "AI Agents"—sophisticated chatbots that act as 24/7 sales representatives, capable of nurturing leads through complex buying cycles before a human ever enters the conversation. By integrating these tools, companies can transform their websites from static brochures into dynamic engagement hubs that qualify prospects based on real-time behavior. This shift doesn't just improve efficiency; it meets the modern buyer's expectation for immediate, accurate information, which can increase conversion rates from a standard 10% to upwards of 30%.To truly thrive, however, these technological tools must be housed within a robust omnichannel strategy that ensures a brand is visible wherever a prospect chooses to engage. Melih emphasizes that "cherry-picking" channels or focusing solely on lead generation without sales alignment is a recipe for stagnation. A successful strategy integrates PR, social media, email, and intent-based platforms into a unified message that builds trust over time. When marketing and sales teams are perfectly aligned, the data gathered from digital touchpoints informs every step of the outreach, ensuring that no lead is wasted and every interaction is personalized to the buyer's specific stage in their journey.Building these systems requires a commitment to long-term investment rather than short-term "quick fixes," a lesson Melih has distilled over nearly four decades in the industry. For SMBs and large enterprises alike, the goal is to create a marketing ecosystem that is both resilient and adaptable. This means automating mundane, repetitive tasks through AI to free up human talent for high-value strategic work. By auditing current channels and focusing on technical integrations that connect CRM data to front-end engagement, organizations can build a sustainable competitive advantage that outlasts the latest marketing fads.About Melih OztalayMelih Oztalay is the CEO and founder of SmartFinds Marketing, a Detroit-based agency with a legacy of innovation dating back to 1987. A pioneer in the digital space, Melih has spent his career helping B2B organizations navigate the evolution of the internet, specialized in omnichannel strategies and the practical implementation of AI in marketing.About SmartFinds MarketingSmartFinds Marketing is a full-service B2B omnichannel agency that specializes in delivering 360-degree marketing solutions. Synopsis: What does Jeffrey Epstein's scandal have to do with Trump's brand of populist nationalism? We dive into the surprising links between fascism, feminism, and power dynamics on today's show. Night eating can feel confusing, distressing, and isolating for people living with anorexia, especially when restriction shapes daytime eating. Many adults limit food during the day and then experience intense hunger, urgency to eat, or automatic eating at night. This pattern often creates shame and the belief that recovery is failing. In this episode, Dr. Marianne Miller explains why anorexia and night eating syndrome frequently overlap and how daytime restriction drives nighttime eating through biological survival responses and nervous system stress. She reframes night eating as adaptation rather than loss of control and challenges treatment messages that rely on shame or rigid control. This conversation centers trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirming eating disorder recovery and introduces non-punitive tools that support regulation, safety, and sustainable change. Why Anorexia and Night Eating Syndrome Often Occur Together Many clinical frameworks treat anorexia and night eating syndrome as separate or opposing diagnoses. In practice, restriction, energy deficit, and nervous system activation during the day often lead the body to seek nourishment at night when threat levels feel lower. Night eating in anorexia does not reflect a failure of discipline. It reflects a biological and neurological survival response to deprivation, chronic stress, and unmet energy needs. Understanding this connection reduces shame and opens the door to more effective, compassionate eating disorder treatment. How Daytime Restriction Fuels Nighttime Eating Restriction includes more than eating small amounts of food. It can involve delaying meals, limiting food variety, suppressing hunger signals, or following rigid food rules that keep the body in a constant state of vigilance. When restriction continues across the day, the body tracks energy debt, stress hormones rise, and hunger intensifies. Nighttime may become the first moment when eating feels possible or safe. This cycle explains why night eating in anorexia can persist even when someone feels committed to recovery. Why Shame and Control Do Not Resolve Night Eating Common advice such as eating more during the day often overlooks nervous system safety, trauma history, and neurodivergent sensory needs. Increasing pressure or tightening rules usually strengthens the restriction and night eating cycle rather than resolving it. Reducing shame and supporting regulation creates conditions where change can occur without punishment or fear. Supportive Approaches That Address Root Causes Recovery-supportive care focuses on safety, predictability, and nervous system regulation rather than control. Daytime nourishment becomes more sustainable when eating feels safe enough and emotionally tolerable. Removing moral judgment from night eating reduces the restriction-shame cycle that keeps symptoms active. Gentle structure can support regulation without imposing rigid rules, and trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirming treatment allows the body to receive nourishment without overwhelming threat. When these conditions develop, night eating often softens naturally over time. Who This Episode Is For This episode speaks to adults living with anorexia and night eating syndrome, people who restrict during the day and eat at night, and individuals navigating chronic eating disorders or recovery that feels stalled despite effort. It also supports neurodivergent adults managing sensory needs around food and anyone seeking weight-inclusive, trauma-informed eating disorder therapy that honors autonomy and lived experience. Not everything that moves you forward is meant to drain you.As part of the Permission Series, Bobbi Brinkman invites listeners to shift their focus from what exhausts them to what actually sustains them.In this episode, Bobbi explores the difference between building from depletion and building from fuel and why energy awareness is one of the most overlooked elements of sustainable growth.Rather than encouraging listeners to eliminate everything that feels hard, this conversation offers a more grounded reframe: clarity and momentum are often created by strengthening what fuels you, not obsessing over what drains you. This episode is a reminder that growth doesn't have to feel heavy to be meaningful, and that honoring your energy is not a luxury but a leadership skill. If you've been feeling tired, scattered, or stretched thin, this conversation offers permission to pause and reconsider what's truly supporting you.Let's keep the FABBO convo going, send me a text!Support the showThank you for being a FABBO listener and supporting the Be Fabbo Podcast
This week on the podcast, our guest is Brandon Moffatt, Chief Development Officer at StormFisher Hydrogen. StormFisher Hydrogen develops projects that repurpose energy, water, and power, with a focus on green hydrogen and e-fuels across the North American market. The company is currently advancing a low-carbon methanol project in Varennes, Quebec. The conversation begins with an overview of green hydrogen–derived products, including e-methane, e-methanol, and green ammonia. Brandon explains why e-methanol is emerging as a leading end-use for green-hydrogen-derived fuels, particularly for marine shipping and aviation. The discussion then turns to Canada's competitive advantages in producing e-fuels, including access to low-carbon grid electricity in Quebec, Manitoba, and British Columbia, as well as the Canadian Investment Tax Credits (ITCs). With the United States rolling back support for green hydrogen in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) last summer, Brandon notes that Canada currently holds a policy advantage in North America. However, global competition remains strong, particularly from India, China, and the Middle East, where cost structures are advantaged. For Canada to remain globally competitive in green hydrogen-derived products, Brandon outlines several changes he believes are needed to Canada's existing ITC framework. These include:Allowing access to the full green hydrogen ITC when grid power is more than 90% non-emitting Extending eligibility to downstream equipment, including e-methanol and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production, consistent with how ammonia is treated Allowing the use of carbon dioxide in fuel production to qualify for the carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) ITCThe episode concludes with a deeper dive into the Varennes project, including the potential for local job creation and the anticipated timing for a final investment decision and first production. Historians are scratching their heads at a resurfaced ancient Egyptian scroll held by the British Museum that might support the claim that biblical giants were, in fact, real. The 3,300-year-old document has been in the museum's collection since 1839 and has recently resurfaced due to a group of researchers who claim that it links to biblical giant accounts. In this episode I will read directly from the segment of this controversial ancient scroll that mentions a mysterious large tribe known as the “Shosu.” I will also provide many other examples of what many believe to be giants of ancient Egypt that were either depicted or written about. From the Bible, to the Book of Enoch, to other historical non-biblical sources - I will also breakdown the endless mentions and legends of ancient hybrids.JOIN ME ON A TOURGiants of Ancient Egypt article

On this episode of Destination on the Left, I talk with Maureen Wheeler, Deputy Director of Livingston County Economic Development, and Tourism Director Ashley Comeau to discuss the strategic moves Maureen's department made to bring tourism under the same roof as economic development. We talk about business retention and expansion, building robust small destinations, and why visitor spending is critical for rural areas. Ashley and Maureen also share more about the business plan contest designed to attract breweries, restaurants, and experiential businesses to the area, and how that initiative has created a pipeline of businesses for the county, leading to multiple collaborations. What You Will Learn in This Episode: How Maureen and Ashley's organizations collaborate in Livingston County to build a stronger local economy Why visitor spending is critical to sustaining small businesses and downtowns in rural areas Challenges Livingston County faced around having enough assets and experiences to keep visitors longer How the business plan contest process worked and why collaboration, even within a competition, was key to its success Why the Libation Loop became a flagship example of coopetition among local beverage businesses, and how it engaged both visitors and residents How branding and product development, including the launch of the LivCo identity, have helped locals embrace Livingston County as a place to be proud of Strategies Maureen and Ashley use to manage partnerships and set up collaborations for long-term success Economic Development Meets Tourism Livingston County's approach combines economic development and tourism efforts under one umbrella. This partnership creates what Maureen calls a virtuous cycle where tourism enhances local life and attracts new businesses, while a strong economy supports a better visitor experience. The end result is a coordinated push to grow both visitor spending and local prosperity, particularly critical for rural areas where businesses rely heavily on both types of revenue. Creativity in Addressing Core Challenges Like many rural destinations, Livingston County faces the challenge of needing more assets to promote, as Ashley explains. Visitors come to the area for headline attractions such as Letchworth State Park, but the county needs more restaurants, breweries, and experiential activities to encourage longer stays. This is what led to the business plan competition, a creative, strategic initiative designed to fill these gaps. By zeroing in on the types of experiences visitors crave (breweries, restaurants, indoor recreation), Livingston County has fueled a pipeline of new businesses, enriching the fabric of the destination. What sets this competition apart is its collaborative nature: participants go through entrepreneurship training together, forging connections and partnerships that last well beyond the contest itself. The Story of the Libation Loop One standout example of coopetition is the Libation Loop, a craft-beverage trail that began with a targeted competition to attract breweries. Rather than isolating single businesses, the team aimed to launch several breweries at once, strategically positioning them to link Livingston County to the wider Finger Lakes craft scene. What surprised the organizers most was the spirit of collaboration among the brewers, who supported one another while offering insights and partnership opportunities. As breweries opened and the trail matured, the baton was seamlessly passed to tourism to promote the new collective asset. The Libation Loop now features 12 participants (breweries, wineries, distilleries, and cideries) and is a highly sought-after product for visitors and locals alike. The involvement of local artists in designing the Loop map and branded merchandise has further strengthened pride and sense of place, with residents even adopting the "LivCo" brand into business names. It's not just about attracting tourists—it's about creating a community locals want to be part of. Send us a textWhat if your obsession with "healthy eating" is actually making you less healthy? In this episode of The Strong(HER) Way podcast, fitness and nutrition coach Alisha Carlson tackles the uncomfortable truth about orthorexia: the eating disorder disguised as wellness that's silently taking over the lives of high-achieving moms everywhere. This isn't about demonizing clean eating or telling you to give up your health goals. It's about learning the difference between healthy intentionality and harmful rigidity (and understanding how perfectionism around food can sabotage both your mental health AND your actual results).Alisha breaks down the science behind why high-achieving, perfectionist women are especially vulnerable to orthorexic patterns, what it actually looks like in everyday mom life, and most importantly, how to pursue your body composition goals in a way that's sustainable, flexible, and free from obsession. If you've ever felt anxious about eating "off plan," guilt-ridden after enjoying birthday cake, or isolated because of your food rules, this episode is your permission slip to do things differently. What You'll Learn:What orthorexia actually is (and what it's NOT—having goals isn't disordered)Why perfectionist, high-achieving moms are especially prone to orthorexic patternsThe key signs that your "healthy eating" has crossed into disordered territoryHow to tell the difference between healthy structure and rigid food rulesThe science behind why restriction and food anxiety actually sabotage fat lossHow to pursue body composition goals WITHOUT obsession, anxiety, or rigid rulesWhy your relationship with food is affecting your kids more than you thinkA practical roadmap for building flexible structure around nutritionHow to have both food freedom AND make progress toward your health goalsPerfect For:High-achieving moms who meal prep and eat "clean" but feel anxious about foodWomen who have body composition goals but suspect their relationship with food isn't healthyPerfectionist moms who struggle with all-or-nothing thinking around nutritionAnyone who's ever felt guilty, stressed, or isolated because of their food choicesMoms who want sustainable fat loss and muscle building without sacrificing their mental healthKey Takeaways✅ Orthorexia is not just about weight, it's about purity and control. It's an obsessive fixation on "clean" eating that can damage your physical health, mental health, and relationships.✅ Having body composition goals is NOT the same as having an eating disorder/ disordered eating. The difference is in the how, the why, and the cost—not whether you care about what you eat.✅ Perfectionist moms are especially vulnerable. Research shows that socially prescribed perfectionism aka the pressure to excel at everything is one of the strongest predictors of orthorexic behavior.✅ Rigid food rules actually sabotage your results. Chronic food anxiety elevates cortisol, restriction leads to metabolic adaptation, and the all-or-nothing cycle keeps you stuck in yo-yo patterns.✅ You don't have to choose between food freedom and fat loss. Flexible structure—intention without obsession—leads to better long-term results than rigid rules ever will.✅ Your kids are watching and learning from your relationship with food. Healing orthorexic patterns isn't just about you—it's about breaking a generational cycle.✅ Self-compassion isn't soft, it's strategic. Research shows self-compassion leads to MORE consistent behavior change than self-criticism, especially for perfectionist
