Is violence caused by “bad people,” too many guns, or something deeper? In this episode, University of Chicago researcher Jens Ludwig reveals why most violent acts stem not from evil intent but from ordinary people in unforgiving situations. We explore how behavior, context, metacognition, and split-second decision-making shape violent outcomes — and why small, scalable interventions like pocket parks, foot traffic, and reflective thinking can dramatically reduce harm. If you care about safer communities, more innovative policymaking, or just want to understand human behavior better, our conversation with Jens will forever reshape how you view violence. The Neuroscience of Flow: Why Stillness Fuels Your DopamineIf you feel overstimulated, tense, or stuck in control mode, your brain is not the problem. It's your rhythm. In this episode, I show you how your nervous system shifts from chaos to coherence when you stop forcing and start flowing.Flow is not a mindset. It's a biological state in which your brain waves, heart rhythm, and emotional circuits sync. When that harmony returns, your dopamine stabilizes, your focus strengthens, and you feel fully present again. You will learn what flow looks like on a brain scan, why stillness creates clarity, and how simple rhythms in your breath and body can bring you back into balance. If you want to see your own brain's rhythm and learn how to restore it, visit drtrishleigh.com to get your Brain Map and begin rewiring for coherence.Send us a textSupport the showHi. The writers of the New Testament consistently pointed out that Jesus' primary role was a king who had come to establish God's Kingdom here on earth — and everyone is invited to participate in it. If we re-center our faith around the arrival of a King, rather than simply a ticket to heaven, we will discover why his arrival — and his Kingdom — is good news for all people! • Westbridge Church is people helping people FIND and FOLLOW JESUS! We believe that no matter where you are in your faith, there's always a next step you can take to grow in your relationship with God. As a church, we are committed to continually growing and encouraging others to grow in their faith, connect in community, share God's grace, serve others, live generously, and have serious fun along the way.

In this Tech Tuesday episode of Foresight Radio, Steve Moran sits down with Sharon, a leader from "Connect," a research-backed engagement platform that's been 25+ years in the making. What begins as a conversation about dementia technology quickly reveals something deeper: connection is the most essential ingredient in cognitive wellness — and in many ways, the very heart of caregiving. Sharon unpacked why human beings — especially those living with dementia — rely on meaningful social interaction to maintain cognitive strength, confidence, and quality of life. She shared how traditional "keep them busy" activities fall short, and how purposeful engagement built around opinions, preferences, and advice unlocks dignity, joy, and real human connection. Steve brought the topic home with personal stories about his stepfather, Gary, highlighting the emotional weight caregivers carry when familiar conversations fade, questions repeat, and meaningful engagement becomes harder to spark. Sharon explained how Connect's science-backed approach helps caregivers (family and professional) rediscover connection, reduce anxiety, create shared moments, and help individuals with dementia feel seen, valued, and capable. As we enter Thanksgiving — a season built on gratitude and togetherness — this conversation is a powerful reminder: Connection isn't just nice to have. It's cognitive medicine. It's emotional nourishment. And it's at the core of truly human care. ⭐ Top Takeaways 1. Connection = Cognitive Wellness Dementia care isn't just about safety or activity calendars — it's about belonging, purpose, and shared moments. Social connection is as essential to brain health as nutrition or sleep. 2. Stop quizzing. Start connecting. People with dementia don't want to be tested. Instead, use OPA questions: Opinions Preferences Advice These spark pride, memory, creativity, and dignity. 3. The "looping" technique builds deeper conversations. Start with an engaging question, discover a spark, and continue the theme through stories, images, or activities. Each moment becomes a bridge to the next. 4. Technology can elevate human connection — not replace it. Tools like Connect guide caregivers toward meaningful conversation, help build trust, and uncover capabilities you may not have known were still possible. 5. Purpose beats entertainment. People living with dementia don't just need to be occupied. They need roles, contribution, and identity — just like all of us. 6. AI will play a growing role in combating loneliness. While human-to-human interaction is ideal, AI's infinite patience and ability to spark conversation may become a meaningful supplement in the future. 7. Thanksgiving reminder: being seen is the ultimate gift. Whether you're a family caregiver or a senior living professional, one small moment of connection can change someone's entire day — and yours.

For centuries, modern science has relied on the scientific method to better understand the world around us. While helpful in many contexts, the scientific method is also objective, controlled, and reductionist – often breaking down complex systems into smaller parts for analysis and isolating subjects to test hypotheses. In contrast, indigenous wisdom is deeply contextual, rooted in lived experience, and emphasizes a reciprocal, integrated relationship with the rest of the natural world, viewing all parts of the system as interconnected. What becomes possible when we combine the strengths of each of these knowledge systems as we navigate humanity's biggest challenges? In this episode, Nate is joined by Rosa Vásquez Espinoza, a Peruvian chemical biologist with Andean-Amazonian indigenous roots, to discuss how she is actively merging modern science and indigenous knowledge through innovative research in the Amazon Rainforest. Rosa explains how the integration of these two ways of knowing unveil more effective paths forward for conservation and ecological wisdom that simultaneously offer economic opportunity for the people who live there. She also shares her biggest successes to date bringing this vision to life, including documenting and protecting Earth's oldest known bee, the stingless bee. Were the indigenous people of ancient cultures the original scientists? How can modern science learn from indigenous knowledge – and vice versa? And, rather than siloing ourselves into one 'right' way of seeing the world, what types of insights become possible when we learn to embrace the validity and importance of multiple ways of learning and knowing? (Conversation recorded on October 22nd, 2025) About Rosa Vásquez Espinoza: Dr. Rosa Vásquez Espinoza is a Peruvian chemical biologist, National Geographic Explorer, and award-winning artist whose work bridges indigenous knowledge and modern science to protect the Amazon Rainforest and its communities. With Andean-Amazonian indigenous roots, she is the founder of Amazon Research Internacional, where she has pioneered groundbreaking research on extreme Amazonian ecosystems and biodiversity, while advocating for policies that recognize the intrinsic value of nature. Rosa was the first microbial explorer of the Amazonian Boiling River, led the first chemical analysis of stingless bees and their medicinal honey in Peru, and contributed to scientific advancements that supported Peru's Law 32235, granting legal protection to stingless bees for the first time. Her work as an International Ambassador for the Ashaninka people further highlights her commitment to conservation and indigenous advocacy. She also co-authored the first scientific paper with Ashaninka leaders, blending traditional wisdom with modern science to safeguard the rainforest. Rosa's passion for exploration and conservation is reflected in her new book, The Spirit of the Rainforest: How Indigenous Wisdom and Scientific Curiosity Reconnects Us to the Natural World, which is available now. Projection is one of the oldest psychological and psychic manipulation tactics — and it's the backbone of the Lack Matrix, a system built on the lie that there's not enough. In this episode of the Psychic Liberation Series, we explore how projection operates in the psyche, how it's weaponized in politics and religion, and why it's the core cult tactic that keeps humanity divided. When powerful systems “pick up the cause” of the oppressed, they often use moral manipulation — turning empathy into control, forcing guilt, and labeling dissent as evil. This inversion of empathy keeps us psychically trapped in the very hatred and fear we're trying to heal. You'll learn how projection: ✨ Functions psychologically as a defense mechanism and collectively as social control ✨ Fuels the Lack Matrix, the lie of scarcity and unworthiness ✨ Is used by politics and religion to control the moral narrative and colonize meaning ✨ Keeps Empaths and sensitive souls looping in guilt, fear, and false virtue ✨ Can be alchemized through radical self-honesty and sovereigntyThis message is for Empaths, Mystics, Healers, and Witchy Entrepreneurs who are waking up from psychic abuse and reclaiming their creative sovereignty. でも、本当に必要なのは fixing ではなく feeling together Empathy is not about saying the right thing. It's about being willing to sit with someone in their experience — without trying to change it. "Empathy fuels connection. Sympathy drives disconnection." When you can be with someone without needing to fix them, you become the space where healing begins. Joseph Sternberg explains that frustrated voters in Europe and the United States are using a metaphorical "sledgehammer" to break apart the established political process. This frustration generates insurgent movements on both the left (like Jean-Luc Mélenchon and the Squad) and the right (like Donald Trump). Conservatives should not presume they will always benefit from this political upheaval. IL DUCE 1923 Retry
