Main point: You won’t have peace if we don’t stand firm together. 1. Stand firm by reconciling (v. 1-3) 2. Stand firm by rejoicing (v. 4-5) 3. Stand firm by asking (v. 6-7) 4. Stand firm by thinking (v. 8-9)
Philippians 4:6-7 This Sunday we get to look at a passage that seems almost impossible to live out. It goes like this: "Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." See you Sunday to consider! Philippians 4:1-9 As a total coincidence we have reached the passage that is the inspiration for the Women's Retreat Philippians 4:4 -- "Rejoice! Again I say Rejoice!" It will be so cool to be of "one mind" with those away on the Retreat and then be able to share in our new and deepening understanding of "Rejoicing in the Lord" when they return!

In today’s passage Paul addresses the elephant in the room: the calcified dispute between two women in the Philippian church. What the Apostle says, and how he says it, sheds light on how we are to pursue peace in our own church. Join us!
"Filter your thoughts, don't be passive with what you're allowing yourself to think, where you're allowing your mind to go. The word of God tells you what that filter should be. Submit your thoughts to God's truth and authority rather than simply focusing on positive outcomes." Pastor Ev Schroeder.
Sunday, May 26, 2024 – The message's title is “Rejoice for the God of Peace is Near.” We are nearing the close of our study of the book of Philippians, specifically chapter 4. The letter written by Paul focuses on the theme of “JOY” despite his own challenging circumstances while under house arrest in Rome, awaiting trial. Paul sets an example of finding peace and joy in the midst of trouble. In this chapter, he addresses the members of the church as “brothers and sisters,” emphasizing the idea of a loving family unit in God's eyes. Paul also acknowledges that disagreements will arise even in a functional family, and it's important to address them constructively to prevent them from causing division. There is much for us to learn from this. Additionally, he emphasizes the significance of rejoicing in all situations. Rejoicing is a choice, and with a strong foundation in Christ, joy is a result of that rejoicing. Join us for worship and study to deepen your understanding.

If we allow the words Paul spoke to the early church speak to our day and time, Paul calls us to rejoice. What on earth can he mean? Has he no accurate sense of the appropriate time to issue such a call? Rev. Larry Hayward preaches on the Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time. The Scripture lesson is Philippians 4:1-9.

Some conflicts can be properly resolved only through confrontation, confession, forgiveness and negotiation. But there are many more that can be properly resolved by simply overlooking minor offenses. 1 Peter 4:7-11 is a reminder that each of us can choose to relinquish our rights for the benefit of strengthening a relationship and for the sake of God’s kingdom.
Join us this weekend as we wrap up our time talking about Better Together. Come and see how we can maintain unity together.
We exist to ignite a passion in every person to glorify and enjoy God everywhere and in everything.
In the 60's, war protesters said, "Peace, man!" In the 70's the Eagles sang about a "peaceful, easy feeling." In the 80's and 90's, the church sang about "peace like a river." But, what is peace to you? Every human being desires peace but where does it come from and how do we access it? Pastor Chris Kipp teaches on the Christ-shaped living that brings cross-purchased peace from Philippians 4:1-9.
In these verses Paul addresses a conflict between Euodia and Syntyche. How do you address conflicts between you and other church members when they arise? Do you follow the principles laid down in scripture?
