Business Challenges:  Why Doesn't Your Business Work So it's a new year, and everyone is starting to come out of their holiday cave.  You might have entered your hibernation period back at Halloween and are just now kicking on the steam engine after a hard stop.  Or you might have just come off of a one to two-week break or no break at all.    Everyone has a happy face and maybe a few extra pounds ready to dive into all of the New Year's resolutions, including your best year in business and life.   But what if you fell short of hitting your goals last year?  What if it feels like you backslide?  What if life threw you a few curve balls you didn't see coming?  What if, instead of feeling energized for the new year, you feel quite drained and kicked to the curve?   What if behind the happy-face mask, you are asking, “Why isn't my business working?”?   I've built my business on making lots of business and life mistakes and helping my clients avoid them.  I've come through the fire, risen from the ashes, and have learned the art of taking that next step with the sincere belief that today is going to be better and the only way I fail is by giving up.   I live in real-ville myself and with my clients.  We don't pretend things are rosy during the times when they kind of stink.  We don't worry about what others think, do, or say.  We are honest about what is and isn't working, and we get down to making things better.     We just keep walking on water towards Jesus, following the promptings of the Holy Spirit.  And then it works.     Keeping focused on your unique God-given mission during good times and bad helps you have a great tomorrow or the next 12 months no matter what the future holds.   We took a little break, actually longer than I expected last year, from our weekly podcast.  But we have a great year planned to support you to flourish in your business and thrive in your life.   I'm Christina Weber, and we run a company for faith-based and spiritual business owners who want a prosperous and fulfilling business or ministry while putting God, their purpose, and their relationships first on a daily basis. Differentiation—maintaining your sense of self while being emotionally connected—creates the foundation for desire. The only way to not live constantly in the Urgent is to manage those things that are Important.   Summary “How are  you?” “BUSY!” Isn't that the response so many of us give when asked this question?  How did we all get so busy and how do we get off the crazy train?  Parents have as much time as anyone else (even though it doesn't feel like it!) but they need to be more conscious than anyone else regarding how they spend the precious time they have.  In this podcast, we give five steps that parents can use right now to use their time wisely.  Using the Eisenhower matrix of Important/Urgent we will show you how to manage those things that are Important (children and all their needs!) so we aren't always living in the Urgent.  Parents must be careful on how they spend time because days turn into weeks, and then years, and then kids are gone!  Childhood is short and we need to be very intentional on how we spend our precious time with our precious children.   Key Takeaways We all need to evaluate how we are spending our time.  If you always feel like you are putting out important fires, then you need to learn how to manage those things so your life isn't always “urgent”. To make sure you take care of those relationships that are essential in your life, you have to schedule an appointment.  Put on your schedule prayer time, date night, special time.   One essential way to live a balanced life is to create routines that will build good habits for you and your children.  Make your time purposeful.  It's not always about the quantity of time, it's also the quality of that time.  Keep in mind your mission!  The mission of your family is to confer identity, belonging and purpose upon your children.   If you don't do it, they will seek that out from others and that is a scary prospect.   Couple Discussion Questions Let's evaluate our time. Are always putting out fires? Do we feel our life is frantic?  How can we identify pain points and create routines to address them? What is the best way to use our time together?  What are the needs in our marriage and how can we satisfy those needs when we are together?  How can we use our time better with our children? What would they like to do?

There's an old saying that wars are won in the general's tent—that winning a war means you have to have a great plan. And generals have battle plans, for instance, for making retreats sometimes. And I have a book on this. Somebody recommended it to me. It's from the U.S. Marine Corps. It's called Warfighting. It's just a pamphlet that talks a lot about planning for battle. It has a lot of metaphors that are helpful for life in general, and there is an appropriate time if one retreats and then makes a comeback. So any battle plans must include a way to make comebacks. And there are famous battles, which I won't go into right now, in which the general artfully retreated at a certain point, but then won the war—retreated from a particular battle, but that had an overall strategy to win the war. So that brings me to the topic of making comebacks, and I'm just going to read an excerpt from this stack of papers. And that is, how to make a comeback when you've stopped your daily japa. Sometimes chanters give up their daily japa because of a lifestyle change. For instance, when preoccupied by starting a new intense work or school schedule or giving birth to a child, some stop chanting because of a traumatic event, like losing a loved one or when they've fallen ill. In these cases, chanters circumstantially break their daily vows of chanting. Others, however, allow their chanting practice to gradually fade, week by week, month by month, their practice grows fainter and until it eventually disappears. There are three reasons why chanters allow their practice to fade: laxity, bad association, and making offenses.
