3RD SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY REV. KENDRA BALLIET ORGANIST JIM ROSS * Please Stand If Able Prelude - Pastorale Dialogue-Domenico Zipoli Welcome & Announcements *Call to Worship Children of God, we gather to worship, to sing and proclaim with joy the good works God is doing in our midst. We gather to worship, as is our custom. We also gather today to pray for our families, our community, and our world. To name the challenges that press in around us, to lament the suffering in our world, to declare our trust in God in the midst of hardship. We gather to worship, as is our custom. We, like those in Nazareth, gather to hear and receive the Word of God proclaimed among us. To encounter the life-giving message of God’s love redeems us to be bearers of love and freedom in this world. We gather to worship, as is our custom. Children of God, listen. Pay attention. Ready your hearts. God is here. Jesus has come among us. The Spirit brings the Word to life in our midst. Are you ready? We gather to worship, as is our custom. Thanks be to God! Amen. * Opening Hymn – “O For A Thousand Tongues to Sing” #57 Opening Prayer We thank you, O God, for calling us into your church to be your people. “We have gathered, God of grace and wisdom, because we have heard your call. We are supposed to be one body in Christ. But how does that happen? And how are we to work together as one body?

Paul is moving his emphasis in this letter from the church of Corinth being a divided church to a united church. It will take more than a sermon or a song. It will take all of God’s people using the spiritual gifts He has given them to build the church. Sermon Outline @ http://bible.com/events/49091590

The Gate Church's weekly sermon podcast. From Lethbridge, AB.
What happens if part of your body wont work with the rest of it? We are used to every part of the body obeying our brain and working together with all the other body parts. If we see a body part is disconnected from the body, we think some horrible accident has happened. Apostle Paul tells us the same is true for the church of Jesus, His body in the world. We all need one another and need to work together in obedience to the Head, Jesus, to faithfully represent Him in the world.

How We Fit Into the Body of Christ.
"Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ... Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." 1 Corinthians 12 v12&27

Verse by verse Bible teaching through the book of 1 Corinthians by Pastor Jim Remington of Calvary Queen Creek, AZ.

The Church is the body of Christ which is a unity in diversity. United together by the Spirit, yet diverse in gifts and roles.
How are we "needy" in the Body of Christ and what gifts are most important in the work of the community?
We need the church as much as the Body of Christ needs us to use our gifts to build it. This makes both stronger. Sermon Notes @ http://bible.com/events/475799
Gifting should never be connected to status in the church. Any Spiritual gift is just that – a gift. You don’t and you shouldn’t get any kudos from it. Your responsibility is to use it for the good of God’s family.
God is fitting together one unified community out of diverse individuals having a variety of gifts.
