Welcome to Christ Community Church of Wilmington NC. We are committed to teaching the Bible, transforming lives, and touching our world.
Jonah's prayer in chapter two is filled with quotations from Messianic psalms. There is even a declaration which in Hebrew reads, "Yeshua makes peace with God." That too is a quotation from the psalms. In this beautiful prayer we see Jonah's confession and declaration of faith. There are many expressions that are not understood without some knowledge of the culture and Hebrew expressions.

At Community Church of Greenwood our mission is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and live in full devotion to Him. We exist to make disciples who make other disciples by following Jesus, being changed by Jesus & being on mission for Jesus!
We look at how God will show Jonah (and us) just how deep and powerful God's commitment is. We'll address the language of prayer, how Scripture changes the way we think, and the confidence we can have in grace.

In Jonah 2, we see a desperate man call out to his only best option -- the option he tried his best to run away from in chapter 1. God is our only best option at all times. Thankfully, God's grace runs deep and reaches deep, like to the depths of the ocean and into the belly of a whale.

God works miracles through those who obey, though often times our nature rebels against Him. Regardless of which path we choose-obedience or rebellion- God is the God of second chances. Few stories illustrate this principle more clearly than the story of Jonah. Join us as we delve into the story of one man and his journey towards surrender.(* The notes for the sermon are a downloadable PDF so you can follow along.)

All of us have received good advice in the past about ways that we can prevent trouble in our lives. The bad news is, when we fail to take that advice and find ourselves in present trouble we can often feel helpless and hopeless. What do you do when you've it rock bottom and you have no one to blame but yourself? If we look at the life of Jonah we see that even weak prayers offered to a willing Savior can actually accomplish something significant.

What can we learn from Jonah's experience inside the stomach of the big fish that will help us as we approach the Thanksgiving and Christmas Seasons? Our LORD GOD taught Jonah some incredible things as he sat in the belly of that great fish for three days. We can learn from Jonah about these things as we approach the Holidays again this year. Listen as Dr. Randy Cheek, Teaching Pastor at the Olive Springs Campus of Eastside Baptist Church shares four pieces of wisdom and advice from the heart the reluctant prophet of Nineveh, Jonah. Thank you for taking time out of your daily schedule to listen. Be blessed and challenged by what you hear!
God relentless pursues us which should drive us to relentlessly pursue Him.

The message of Christianity is one of God’s love for humanity. Sometimes though, the Christian faith gets painted as if it is for certain types of people who haven’t done certain types of things. The story of Jonah emphatically declares that no matter who you are or what you’ve done, God cares about you. Through a disobedient follower, a group of idolatrous fisherman, and a pagan city, this series of sermons proclaims that everyone can be engulfed by grace.
