The study assesses how government funding for research, development, and demonstration of emerging clean energy technologies can reduce the costs of deploying those technologies in the future. The authors include in their analysis advanced nuclear energy, geothermal energy, carbon capture and storage, electricity storage, and direct air capture of carbon dioxide. Shawhan and his team also estimate how bringing down these costs can benefit society by reducing air pollution, electricity bills, and more. Jenny has her S&%T together. I mean, she sent over a resume before coming by for the interview. Who does that? Jenny does. An accomplished singer/songwriter, a vocalist with a degree from Belmont in Nashville, lots of experience as a singer in various different bands and growing up in a town nobody has heard of somewhere in Indiana are all things that Jenny boasts proudly in her multi-page memoir. We had a great conversation about all of these things and more, including her journey to becoming a mainstay in the Denver music scene. Wisconsin winters mean a lot of outdoor fun involving snow and ice. But out of what we often skate, snowmobile, or slide on - or just shovel away - some artists create incredible art and sculptures. In this episode just ahead of Winterfest 2019 at The Corners of Brookfield, we talk with professional ice carver and snow sculptor Jeff Shawhan. He's one of the talented people who can craft amazing art that wows onlookers... until it melts.

On Tuesday, I spoke to Boston film critic Sean Burns. (Thanks tp all of you who listened, by the way.) Today, we'll be talking to an old college buddy of his, Nashville's very own Jason Shawhan. Also a fellow film critic (we both serve as contributing critics over at Nashville Scene), he and I touch on a number of film-related subjects. We discuss how me backing out of reviewing a certain film cemented his status at the Scene. We spend quite a bit of time discussing on-screen nudity (as well as come up with a new term for showing audiences the goods.) We also talk about Shawhan's life as both a critic and a gay man. And, somewhere down the line, we both agree that Jewel is a badass. Yeah, it was one of those nights.
