This week's episode dives into the Lake Effect Scholarship. Kat Hanson, enrollment counselor in Finlandia's Admissions Department, joins the show to talk about this new opportunity for incoming commuting and on-campus living students. The Lake Effect Scholarship is a needs-based scholarship that allows eligible commuting and on-campus living students to enjoy the benefits of cost-sharing education. Meaning, commuting students will have tuition reduced to $2,500 per year, earning their full Bachelor's degree for $10,000. The $2,500 per year cost-share can also be covered by federal loans, meaning no out-of-pocket cost. Eligible Lake Effect Scholarship students who want to live on campus can do so too with added room and board.

Joining the show this week to talk about FinnU Shark Day is Education Partner Manager and Dual Enrollment Advisor Lauren Huested. Shark Day, hosted at Finlandia's Hirvonen Hall, is focused on teaching high school students in their junior and senior years about entrepreneurship, creativity, working in a team and public speaking skills. The final winners will be awarded a $2500 scholarship to attend Finlandia to be used in the fall of 2022 or 2023. Students from L'Anse, Calumet and Baraga schools will be attending.
