Calm corners look great online – but in reality? Students can ignore them, misuse them, or turn them into a hangout spot. You're left wondering if they're even worth it in a busy secondary classroom where time, space, and structure are limited. You want to support emotional regulation, but not at the expense of learning.I'll take you through how I create calm spaces that actually support self-regulation – without turning your classroom into a free-for-all – and how I embed emotional literacy and co-regulation into my behaviour approach.IN THIS EPISODE, I DISCUSS:Why calm corners often fail in secondary classroomsWhat needs to happen before you set one upMy “pocket calm corner” and the tools students actually useHow to embed regulation without disrupting the flow of your lessonSo, are calm corners worth the rage in secondary? Yes – but only if they're adapted to work in our world. That means ditching the distractions and zeroing in on strategies that are teachable, transferable, and actually usable for our students.Have a question, comment, or just want to say hello? Slam the Gavel welcomes Marineka Bowman to the podcast. Marineka was last on Season 3, Episodes 104, 131, 159, 160, 174 and 184, Season 4, Episodes 22, 48 and 61, Season 5, Episodes 149, 210 and 238. Today we updated Marineka's case and how she is court ordered to go to Turning Corners, LLC (more like cutting corners) for counseling with her daughter, however the counselor has either canceled or called in sick, and on April 10, 2025 quit unexpectedly. Since Marineka pays the father child support, Medicaid is paying for this and apparently Turning Corners is also billing Medicaid. Hello DOGE. Judge Natalie Haskins is awaiting on her report that obviously she will not receive. This also means that Marineka has yet to see her daughter. Marineka will not stop fighting to see her daughter who needs her. Marineka also described other incidents where the father had tried to obstruct her visits with her daughter. Judge Natalie Haskins must reverse custody for the sake of the best interest of the child. Their child isn't even on a second grade reading level, Educational Neglect taking place, and even Attorney Laura Brooks doesn't care either. This week on the 4 Corners Podcast, we talk a little bit about the opening week of the MLB and ponder just how good the Dodgers and Yankees will be this year. We then return to discussing hockey as Patrick's Blues have suddenly become the hottest team in the NHL. Meanwhile, the GR8 Chase nears its conclusion as Alex Ovechkin has nearly reached the summit of the mountain that is the NHL All-Time goals record. The guys then discuss the NCAA Tournament. After a few upsets in the earlier rounds, things have been very chalk since then, with all four #1 seeds making it to the Final Four. Is that a bad thing? The answer might surprise you. Vic Verchereau welcomes Tony McCaul, who is the Executive Director at Critter Barn. The story began in 1984. The founder of the Critter Barn, Mary Rottschafer, explained "With the excitement of moving out in the country, came the hope of a larger garden and a do-it-yourself lifestyle. A surprise party planned by a group of friends changed the course of our lives forever. With a freshly painted barn and a few animals, our farm experience began unexpectedly. In just six years children from area schools were on our farm for school field trips, and today our educational farm is a West Michigan attraction to over 100,000 people. Today a dedicated leader continues the learning and fun! Before joining Critter Barn, Tony McCaul worked with the Ottawa County ISD for 14 years as an Ag Tech teacher. Tony is a graduate of Michigan State University and Colorado State University with Bachelors and Masters degrees in Agriscience, Agriculture Education, and Biology. In this edition of Michigan Corners, host Vic Verchereau gets the scoop (or a shovel full!) from Tony. Grab the kids and head west! Trolls have basically taken possession of the U.S. government. How have trolls been able to go from being mostly cordoned off in dark parts of the internet to gaining so much influence in American culture and politics? Our guest this week has spent years researching and reporting on-the-ground to learn more about how the battle online between the right and the left has moved into the real world. Elle Reeve is a correspondent at CNN and the author of “Black Pill: How I Witnessed the Darkest Corners of the Internet Come to Life, Poison Society, and Capture American Politics.” She joins WITHpod to discuss the politics of “black pilled” and “red pilled” young men, the ways in which online extremism so often translates into political violence and more.

In this episode, we have the great privilege of speaking with industry veteran Leo Pearson, who played a role in shaping the sound of Talk on Corners with a production credit on the album.Leo takes us back to where it all started—his mum's basement —where The Corrs recorded demos that would eventually make their way onto the multi-million-selling album. He shares the unexpected journey that led him to work with the band, from experimenting with electronic music and samplers to suddenly finding himself recording a band, engineering, and programming for one of the biggest pop acts of the era.Leo recounts some of the creative process behind key tracks, his experience working with the band, and the whirlwind energy of their manager, John Hughes. He also reveals the difficulties of getting his recordings into the hands of legendary producer David Foster, just one of the many challenges the band faced in translating demos into polished album tracks. We hear firsthand about the evolving music industry of the late '90s, the intersection of traditional and electronic sounds, and the lessons Leo carried forward into his career. Packed with behind-the-scenes stories and insights plus clips of unused demo songs, this episode gives greater insights into the music we have loved for decades. At 00:14:09 you can hear a clip of the song '23'.At 00:19:52 you can hear a clip of the demo mix for 'Little Wing'.At 00:26:36 you can hear a clip of the first demo version of 'Radio'.At 00:31:51 you can hear a clip of the demo for 'What Can I Do'.At 00:39:24 you can hear a clip of the demo for 'Remember'.At 00:45:35 you can hear a clip of 'Paddy McCarthy'.At 00:52:36 you can hear a clip of the song 'Uncanny'.This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.CorrsCast.comInstagramTwitterFacebookDiscordPatreon#CorrsCast on social media.#TheCorrsPlease subscribe, rate and review CorrsCast on iTunes or a platform of your choosing. In week 2 of our series Netflix, Chill, & God's Will, Pastor Mike explores the concept of covenant in marriage, drawing parallels between God's promises to Israel in Exodus 6:2-8 and a groom's vows to his bride. It emphasizes the importance of commitment, symbolized by the Ten Commandments as a Ketubah, and the sealing of the covenant through intimacy, represented by the Chuppah. The message challenges couples to protect their relationship from distractions and trust that God has saved the best for last in their covenant with Him.To continue to support this ministry so we can reach people all around the world, visitwww.givetofocus.com
