It's been quite awhile since we've had a Q&A episode here at The Light in Every Thing! But after fourteen packed episodes all relating to the Letter to the Ephesians, it was clearly time. We are always grateful and inspired by the deep listening of our audience. This was evident again in the thoughtful and vulnerable questions posed within our Patreon community. Jonah and Patrick took extra time in this episode to delve into three questions, and touch on a couple of others. We would love for you to consider joining our Patreon community, where there is the opportunity to comment on each episode, participate in “live” Zoom conversations with Patrick and Jonah, monthly facilitated conversations with other listeners, and much, much more. Since Easter, 2020 our patrons have grown to over 400 contributing members, almost half of whom joined at the $3/month tier. This steady stream of support is both deeply meaningful and vitally important to allowing Jonah and Patrick's work in the world to spread and flourish. Through these conversations, some listeners have heard the call to priesthood and understood what seminary study might be like. Other listeners find these conversations essential to deepening their direct relationship with Christ Jesus and a significant part of their discipleship path. https://www.christiancommunityseminary.ca/podcasthttps://www.patreon.com/ccseminary/membershipAs is so often the case in these conversations, The Light in Every Thing shines throughout. If you work with a computer at work today, it is common to work from home or while travelling. The employee has access to the company data shared with him via his computer over the Internet. This is as if they were physically in the office, as if they were on the local network. This is made possible by what is known as a virtual private network, or VPN for short. It refers to a network connection that cannot be viewed by unauthorised parties and therefore offers the necessary security to work securely with confidential data from outside the office. With additional technical methods, this connection is then tap-proof. A kind of communication tunnel into the company, even to the boss if necessary. Since Easter and Pentecost, this has also been possible on a mental and spiritual level. Prayer to our Creator is possible from anywhere, tap-proof and confidential. What a privilege. I wish you an extraordinary day!

This week in worship we encounter a seemingly trivial story of a person coming to faith, and a home being opened to missionaries. When we look deeper, we see the Spirit of God opening a heart to hear the Truth of God's love, causing a whole family to change course for the Gospel. Since Easter, we've been studying the real-life impact of Jesus' resurrection on our daily lives. Come to church this week to hear how ordinary people (like you and me!) are called to extraordinary purpose because of the Sunday that changes everything!
If you had to sum up the Easter message in just one sentence, what would it be? Would you talk about the cross and how Jesus died for our sins, or would you talk about the empty tomb on Easter? I just finished reading Matthew last week and this verse jumped off the page at me. Matthew 28:6 says, “He Is Not Here. He Has Risen.” There it is-- there is the Easter message. Yes, Jesus died on the cross, but he didn't stay in the tomb. “He Is Not Here. He Has Risen.” This is such an important message we want to instill in our kids around Easter. So today on this episode, I want to talk about how we can help our kids understand the true meaning of Easter. I am so excited to have my mom back on the podcast as we talk about some Easter Traditions we did growing up. My mom is super creative, and she came up with these eggs that share the Easter message. She is going to share what item goes in each egg as well as the corresponding Scripture Verse that goes with it. Since Easter will be here before you know it, I wanted to give you plenty of time to gather these supplies and make your own set. Whether your child is a toddler or a teenager, these Easter Message Eggs are a great way to celebrate Holy Week and all God has done for us! Link to Easter Message Eggs by Pat Brownlee, my mom. It includes the object and the corresponding Scripture verse. Link to *Resurrection Eggs- these are the ones I bought and used with my kids. Link to the Journey to Easter Cards on the Proverbs 31 Ministries website. Check out Episode 60: Family Traditions -- Pat Brownlee where we talk about our Christmas and Holiday Traditions. Check out Episode 59: Remember Balloons-- Jessie Oliveros where we talk about a great book on memory loss. *Note: If you are interested in purchasing this product that I recommended, I would love for you to use the Amazon Affiliate link above to help support the podcast. So this week we are coming up on Easter, which is the biggest holiday in the medieval Christian calendar aside from Christmas! Since Easter constantly confuses with its jumping dates, we are going to look at the medieval "easter controversy" and this holiday's long, strange, and convoluted history.

Since Easter is in 2 weeks, I decided to look ahead in Mark to Friday of the Passion Week. Good Friday is the day Jesus died by crucifixion. In our text this morning Mark records only 3 times the word “crucifixion” with really no detail. But Mark records paragraphs concerning the blasphemy and mockery of Jesus by several groups. Why did God the Father allow God the Son such insult? We will answer that question at the end of the message.

Since Easter is in just a few days, it seems like a good time to look at Mary, Jesus mother, as a parent who lost her child. I had never taken the time to see Mary s life through the eyes of a grieving parent. But as I began to study it out for this episode, […] The post 51: Three Things We Can Learn from Jesus Mother After the Death of Our Own Child appeared first on GPS Hope.

We step into the magical and twisted world of the Playboy mansion (where things are not always as they seem) and drop in on Holly, Kendra, and Bridget at their very first Playboy cover shoot. Since Easter was this last Sunday, I thought I would share something I dug up from my time as a missionary. This is a recording of my mission companion, Elder Brad Chaston, and myself singing "The Lord is My Shepard" recorded onto mini-disc. We were in Manhattan and this would have been sometime between January and April of 2004. This is one of my favorite hymns. We're not perfectly in tune with our performance but for me, it has the significance of documenting an important time in my life so I wanted to share. Each week, we have forced ourselves to answer the question…How would our lives change if we started living like we were leaving? How would our lives be different if we knew we only had a few days left to live? Since Easter weekend we have been more intentional in trying to calibrate our lives around eternity. We’ve been trying to live with the full understanding that this life is brief but eternity lasts forever. We’ve been trying to live as if we were leaving. This is the very reason why Jesus’ life was so revolutionary. He didn’t come to stay he came to leave. He didn’t waste a day, a moment, a conversation…because he knew how short his life would be. As we have said, He lived passionately. He loved completely and He left boldly. We have discussed living passionately and last week discussed leaving boldly. Today, I want to look at what it means to love completely. The way Jesus lived his life has taught us many things…but one of the crucial things is the value he placed on relationships. For more information visit http://northplacechurch.com/
Since Easter was the earliest we'll ever see it, we have before us twenty-six weeks of Ordinary Time, and that means six months of a more or less continuous reading from the Gospel of Matthew. Today's passage is the conclusion of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. Does the exhortation to "build your house on rock" contradict St. Paul's teaching that salvation is a free gift?
