You better watch out! This week, Peaches and Michael are dodging the naughty list in celebration of 2022's VIOLENT NIGHT! In addition to discussing Santa's bruiser daddy status, our hosts delve into why subverting the season can be so much fun. Joining the conversation is iconic film critic and author Alonso Duralde, who digs into why a nontraditional depiction of St. Nick is often exactly what we need. Then, the celebrated creators and screenwriters of VIOLENT NIGHT, Pat Casey and Josh Miller, stop by to talk about how they fostered a wild idea into a fierce, fight-filled, festive feature that became an instant cult classic. From Beverly D'Angelo to ornaments of death, this episode has it all! Go!

Dan, Manny, & Billy invite longtime friend Dave Kucich back on the pod to put the 1947 Christmas classic Miracle on 34th Street to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST! “The plot [of Miracle on 34th Street], is basically there's a guy who's nice to everyone [and] everyone is just very weirded out by that. Like he is just a nice dude, he knows how to speak Dutch, he's nice to the kids, he's helping people out, he's anti-capitalism. He's all these things, and everyone's like, f*** this guy.” -Dan Happy Holidays! This episode is so much fun. It's a classic Nostalgia Test Podcast tangent episode full of Christmas hot takes, deep dives into favorite scenes and odd 1940s behavior, and the guys finally crack the case on whether Santa is real or not. And it wouldn't be an episode of The Nostalgia Test Podcast without that Long Island ball busting you've come to love on the pod. Plus, you're going to want to hear all the Santa Claus conspiracies, Christmas traditions, calling out creepy guys, and all while their other longtime friend Steve Herrera is driving to Taco Bell. So finish your letter to Santa, grab some beer and cookies, and invite your favorite elves over to party because hanging with The Nostalgia Test is going to be your new Christmas tradition. Originally Recorded Wednesday December 10th, 2025 Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, fans! That Horror Show Podcast ends 2025 with a Christmas-themed horror movie review episode that will bring joy to the world...or, is that 'terror' to the world? Eh, whatever works best on this special holiday. Your hosts Timothy Kazda and Chris Koenig have set up the Christmas tree, laid out the presents, hung the mistletoe, and have prepared a lavish feast in order to get through their review segment. And yes, Tim and Chris have checked their Christmas stocking to see what movie jolly ol' Saint Nick has brought them. Well, it's a doozy called "Christmas Bloody Christmas" (2022), a heartwarming movie for the whole family in which a mechanical Santa Claus goes haywire, and proceeds to bring some Christmas cheer by murdering anybody, 'Terminator'-style, that gets in it's way! Did we say this movie was for the family audience? Well, you can ignore that claim...BUT, don't ignore this episode. But wait: there is more! Yes, listen in and Nate from 'Kids Corner' gives his review on the very familiar "Violent Night" (2022), while Tim and Chris guzzle some box wine and scarf down a turkey leg, as well as lamenting on the bad choices they made this year! So give this episode a listen, and from That Horror Show Podcast to you: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas everyone, and thank you for listening to our newest episode. Today the guys are doing a triplesode where they discuss the most action movie Santa. On this episode, Eric gate-keeps Spanish. Richard wants Santa to commit more to the bit. And John knows his Santas. So bake some cookies, put out some milk, and listen to Plot Spackle! Music: TheFatRat - Epic https://lnk.to/ftrepic
In this episode we cover some of the more adult Christmas Classics with : Bad Moms Christmas, Bad Santa, and Violent Night. Enjoy!

Send us a textThis week on Hey You Guys, we dive down the chimney into Violent Night (2022) — the gloriously unhinged Christmas action flick where David Harbour proves he was born to play a battle‑weary, Viking‑blooded Santa Claus. We talk booby traps that would make Home Alone's Kevin McCallister proud (and slightly terrified), a sleigh-load of festive carnage, and why Harbour's grumpy, hammer‑swinging Saint Nick is the gift that keeps on giving. We also get into the film's weaker links: John Leguizamo and his band of baddies, who never quite match the energy of their mythic opponent, and the terminally irritating wealthy family Santa is forced to save — a group so unlikeable you almost start rooting for the villains. It's messy, it's merry, it's miraculously fun. Grab your milk, cookies, and improvised weapons; this is one Christmas episode you won't forget.

Everyone has wanted to see Santa do a Diehard, right? Of course! He's the most wholesome, selfless mythical character we've got, and we want to see him kill people. YAY, violence! Boo, children! Violent Night is a solid romp, but doesn't quite hit the satirical notes it needs to become a classic. We pluck on the film's heart strings to maximize the fun in contrasting holiday cheer with righteous violence. As previously mentioned this is our last episode of 2025. Thanks so much for sticking with us for another year, we're blessed to have such a smart, witty community of armchair screenwriters. Take care of yourselves over the holidays, and we'll see you again soon in 2026!

While Christmas is typically the time to snuggle up with friends and family to watch beloved the same corny, nostalgic favorites we return to every year, for filmmakers the holiday season is a surprisingly fertile ground for a very different form of entertainment: horror films. There are literally dozen of Christmas horror films currently in existence, and seemingly more every year. They use the Christmas festivities as a counterpoint for the bloody work of serial killers, monsters, or legendary figures from folklore. Forget Season's Greetings and a Cup of Good Cheer; for these movies, it's all about Season's Beatings and a Cup of Good FEAR. So join the Great Pop Culture Debate for a very different holiday special as it explores the Best Holiday Horror Films.Movies discussed: Black Christmas (1974); Silent Night, Deadly Night; Rare Exports; Silent Night (2021); Violent Night; Christmas, Bloody Christmas; Terrifier 3; Better Watch Out; Gremlins; P2; Jack Frost (1997); Black Christmas (2006); Krampus; It's a Wonderful Knife; A Christmas Horror Story; Anna and the ApocalypseJoin host Eric Rezsnyak and GPCD panelists Karissa Kloss, Michael Schwarz, and Zack Derby as they discuss and debate 16 brutal holiday horror films. STRANGER THINGS 5 PREMIERE!!! Stranger Things Full Reaction Watch Along: / thereelrejects Gift Someone (Or Yourself) A Stranger Things RR Tee! https://shorturl.at/hekk2 Greg & John's STRANGER THINGS 4 Reactions: • Stranger Things Season 4 With the FINAL season upon us, Greg & John RETURN to give their Stranger Things 5 Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis, Breakdown, & Spoiler Review! Greg Alba & John Humphrey react to Episodes 1 & 2 of Stranger Things Season 5, the epic final season of the Duffer Brothers' sci-fi horror phenomenon. Set in Fall 1987, Hawkins is scarred by the opened Rifts and placed under military quarantine, while Vecna has vanished and the gang races to reunite for one last fight to save their town — and reality itself. Episode 1 ("The Crawl") kicks off with what the creators call their “most eventful premiere yet,” and the first minutes dramatically return to Will Byers' original 1983 disappearance, tying Season 5 directly back to the show's beginning and teasing long-awaited Upside Down answers. Episode 2 ("The Vanishing Of Holly Wheeler") is teased as having the “craziest cold open” in the series, hinting at a new, terrifying disappearance that echoes the show's earliest mysteries — and sets the tone for the final run. The legendary ensemble returns including Millie Bobby Brown (Enola Holmes, Godzilla: King of the Monsters) as the fierce, determined Eleven; Finn Wolfhard (IT, Ghostbusters: Afterlife) as the good-hearted Mike Wheeler; Noah Schnapp (Hubie Halloween, The Tutor) as the wise Will Byers; Gaten Matarazzo (Les Misérables on Broadway, Prank Encounters) as tech-savvy Dustin Henderson; Caleb McLaughlin (Concrete Cowboy, High Flying Bird) as the ever-faithful Lucas Sinclair; Sadie Sink (The Whale, Fear Street Part Two) as the comatose Max Mayfield; Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands) as protective mother Joyce Byers; David Harbour (Black Widow, Violent Night) as the hardened Jim Hopper; Natalia Dyer (Yes, God, Yes; Chestnut) as the tenacious Nancy Wheeler; Joe Keery (Free Guy, Fargo) as the lovable Steve Harrington, & MORE! With Hawkins on lockdown, the Upside Down bleeding into reality, and the story circling back to Will's first encounter with darkness, these opening episodes launch the final season with huge stakes, eerie nostalgia, & that signature Stranger Things blend of friendship, horror, and heart. Iconic moments include the epic reveal that Will's long-standing psychic link to Vecna manifests in terrifying new abilities, culminating in a desperate, power-charged rescue that redefines his role in the final season + the surprise return of Season 2's Kali aka 008! With the story circling back to Will's original connection to the Upside Down and setting up the final two volumes, “Sorcerer” feels like a turning point for every major character — and a brutal reminder that Hawkins may not survive what's coming. This Week in Horror History is your winter horror watchlist, breaking down Christmas horror movies, winter thrillers, and classic ghost stories for the week of November 26–December 2. In this episode of the Weekly Spooky horror podcast, host Henrique Couto revisits Misery (1990), Scrooge / A Christmas Carol (1951), Violent Night (2022), deep-cut sequel The Descent Part 2 (2009), and cult anthology Deadtime Stories (1986) to help you build the perfect cold-weather horror marathon. We start in the snow with Misery (1990), Rob Reiner's adaptation of Stephen King's cabin-fever nightmare. A bestselling author crashes in a blizzard and wakes up trapped with his “number one fan,” Annie Wilkes, whose devotion turns surgical. It's tense, wintry, and weirdly cozy in that “stuck inside with the storm howling outside” way—perfect for the dark days after Thanksgiving. How to watch (U.S.): You can see it for free on Tubi, or rent it wherever you like to do that sort of thing. Then we slide straight into holiday hauntings with Scrooge / A Christmas Carol (1951), one of the most iconic Christmas ghost stories ever filmed. Alastair Sim's Ebenezer Scrooge is dragged through past, present, and a terrifying future by rattling chains, graveyards, and skeletal specters. It's gothic, eerie, and still strangely comforting—a reminder that Christmas horror began with moral dread and vengeful spirits long before killer Santas. How to watch (U.S.): You can watch it free on Tubi, on Plex, or wherever you rent your movies. From there we jump to modern holiday carnage with Violent Night (2022), where Santa picks up a sledgehammer and goes to war with mercenaries during a Christmas Eve hostage situation. It's loud, cathartic, funny, and surprisingly sweet at its core—ideal Black Friday recovery viewing when you want bloody Christmas action, tinsel, and a very bad night for the naughty list. How to watch (U.S.): It's streaming on Peacock, or you can snag it anywhere you rent digital movies. The Deep Cut Spotlight crawls underground with The Descent Part 2 (2009), the much-maligned cave sequel that deserves another look. Sarah is dragged out of the caves amnesiac and traumatized, only to be pressured into leading a rescue team back into the darkness. What follows is a brutal, grim follow-up packed with creatures that feel a little too plausible—perfect “cozy nightmare fuel” as you settle into your turkey coma and wonder what's lurking just beyond your flashlight beam. How to watch (U.S.): It's free to watch on Plex, or rentable wherever you normally pick up digital horror movies. To cap the episode, Henrique recommends Deadtime Stories (1986), a trashy, off-the-wall horror anthology movie that leans into fairy-tale weirdness and late-night TV vibes. It feels tailor-made for cold-weather sleepovers: campy, bizarre, and just dangerous enough to feel like you shouldn't be watching it right before bed.How to watch (U.S.): You can watch it free on TubiTV, Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, Fandango at Home Free, and Plex, or with a subscription on Amazon Prime Video and Sling TV.Along the way, we roll through the Birthday Roll, raising a drumstick to horror favorites like Peter Facinelli, Joe Dante, and Nestor Carbonell, and talk about how Christmas horror has evolved—from the moral reckoning of Scrooge to Santa as bruised action hero and the creeping dread of being trapped, whether you're snowed in or sealed underground. If you're hunting for winter horror movies and Christmas horror classics to plug into your December calendar, this week's horror history has you covered. This episode is sponsored by Cozy Earth — ultra-soft, temperature-regulating bamboo sheets, comforters, and loungewear that keep you warm without overheating while you binge scary movies.
