This ended up being a regular series on the podcast whenever a set made a big impact on the metagame. In episode 9, the cast took at look at the standard decks popular during Ixalan standard, and updated them with Frontier cards. This ended up being a good mental exercise and should prove helpful for people to refer to when they end up building Historic decks. You get a chance to see how the older cards in Frontier interacted with those currently in standard, as well as the reasons you should use them.
Hello and welcome to the Homebrew Magic podcast! After a bit of a rough weekend and trouble with the Throne of Eldraine and Brawl recording Nelson and Schnell did last week, we pivoted! We promise to talk more Magic in this episode! It's time for this podcast to get back to work, so we break down the top performing Standard decks from the weekend. We go over why agro is so good early in a new meta, and we ponder pancakes and production values.
Gerry and Bryan have been immersing themselves in Standard and have their picks for the top choices going into this weekend. We're diving into some new decks for standard using cards from Guilds of Ravnica! We recorded this on 9-15-18, so not all of the cards from Guilds of Ravnica have been previewed yet. There will be lots of changes as the metagame emerges, but we'll be taking a first look at what we think are competitive strategies.
In this episode, Gerry breaks down his Pro Tour Ixalan experience, including the changes he made to his Temur Energy list to combat the field. Past that, there were six decks that did well at Pro Tour Ixalan that might still be under the radar.
We're back after a short sick leave with what looks to be the first (inofficially) spoiled card from Amonkhet, and it looks super exciting! The card in question is Dusk//Dawn, and it's somewhat similar to the Fuse cards in the sense that it has two spells on one card. But that's where the similarities end: The Consequence mechanic makes it so one half of the card can only be cast from your graveyard. Interesting, isn't it? Furthermore, we're bringing you two new and updated Standard Decks that tackle the current Mardu Metagame in a very interesting way.Listen here:If you cannot see the audio controls, your browser does not support the audio element Youtube: Soon!Links:Dusk//Dawn (Amonkhet Spoiler)Announcement: CFB as sole GP Organisers from 2018 onwardsBG EldraziUpdating Temur Tower by Ondřej StráskýMagic Taverne on FacebookMagic Taverne on TwitterMagic Taverne on YouTubeMagic Taverne FeedBurner Feed
