TW: Mental Health discussions On the same day we celebrate the 49th anniversary of Star Wars, Jessica of Rebellion of Hope Podcast joins me to celebrate and talk about the famed fandom, plus a whole lot more! I've been following Jessica for quite some time from the lead up to launch of her Star Wars podcast, Rebellion of Hope. We finally were able to get together and I could host her on my podcast. We kick things off by decidely NOT talking about Star Wars, as we talk about Avatar: The Last Airbender. We mainly stay in the animated series realm, as we talk about how Jessica got into Avatar, favorite characters, what kind of bender she'd be, and the connection between this show and Star Wars media for her. Then, we travel to a fandom from a galaxy far, far away. We spend a lot of time talking about Star Wars. From how Jessica got into Star Wars, how it got her through tough times in life, and getting into the fandom more and more. We talk about a lot of the media, from Clone Wars, to the Mandalorian, The Acolyte, and more. We discuss the EU/Legends, and Disney's decision to move into their own choices with the Star Wars universe. We also talk about her Star Wars podcast, Rebellion of Hope, and what she has done/is doing as a positive voice in the Star Wars fandom. We also talk about Star Wars conventions, panels, and so much more. We also talk about Jessica's desire to strike out on her own and starting her own business, Asteria Outpost. You'll hear the background behind that, what Jessica does to source the items she sells for her brand, and being an entrepreneur in these times. Kicking off May of 2026 with a perfectly timed episode releasing on May 4th, Emily aka Imagination.Em on Instagram returns to talk Star Wars and Cosplay. May the 4th Be With You! It's been nearly 4 years since Emily was on with her original episode, but we get to catch up and blend two topics together. Star Wars and Cosplay. The first half of the episode definitely leans more Star Wars, as we talk about the shows that have released since 2022. We discuss Skeleton Crew, The Acolyte, and Andor. Emily talks about the experience of attending the Andor Season 2 premiere, and we discuss Andor as it ties into current political situations today. We talk about the upcoming Mandalorian and Grogu movie, and Emily makes her best pitch for what she'd do if Dave Filoni asked her to create a Star Wars property. Then, we're on to Cosplay, as you may know Emily for her viral Moana Fett cosplay from 4 years ago. We talk about how it's been as a Cosplayer, from upgrading her Moana Fett look, to doing Mo Dameron, Mara Jade, joining the Droidsmiths Union, and making a Grogulorian cosplay, to name a few. We talk about her relationship with other cosplayers in the fandom, as well as creators that she works with. Emily also reflects back on her time as a Cosplayer, and we talk about what she could be working on for the future. Send us Fan MailArya gets her first assignment as an assassin for the House of Black and White. She also gets a new face, that of a little girl who had been badly beaten. After a successful mission, Arya is promoted to Acolyte and given her first apprenticeship. Simon and Mackelly decide to stop biting their coins.Chapter Review:Arya Stark witnesses a meeting of priests of the House of Black and White. When the meeting ends, one of the men talks with her. He accuses her of being too soft, selfish, and proud to be one of them. However, in the end, he gives her an assignment. She is to kill a ship insurer. To scope out her target she will resume the role of Cat of the Canals. While selling her cockles and watching her mark, she notices that he bites every coin he receives. A plan comes to her as to how best to deliver him the “gift.” The Kindly Man takes her deep into the heart of the temple where the faces are stored. He removes Arya's face and replaces it with that of a girl who had been beaten by her father to the point of disfigurement. From her perspective, Arya can't tell the difference. However, the Kindly Man assures her that nobody who sees her face will soon forget it.The next day Arya waits for a man to walk by on his way to pay the ship insurer. She cuts his purse and grabs a handful of coins. The man turns to stop her and coins spill to the ground. Arya runs and hides for a while. When she returns to the House of Black and White, she tells the Kindly Man that she replaced one of the man's coins with one she had poisoned. When her target receives the payment he will bite the coin, and at some point later that day his heart will give out. The Kindly Man tells her she might not be hopeless after all. He gives her the robe of an acolyte, but tells her not to get too comfortable in it. Starting tomorrow she begins an apprenticeship.Characters/Places/Names/Events:Arya Stark - Younger daughter of Ned and Catelyn Stark.Kindly Man - Priest of the Many-Faced God.Waif - Priestess of the Many-Faced God.Many-Faced God - God worshiped in Essos that embodies all gods.House of Black and White - Temple of the Many-Faced God in Braavos. All Music credits to Ross Bugden:INSTAGRAM! : https://instagram.com Support the showSupport us:Buy us a Cup of Arbor Gold, or become a sustainer and receive cool perksDonate to our causeUse our exclusive URL for a free 30-day trial of AudibleBuy or gift Marriott Bonvoy points through our affiliate linkBuy GoH merchandise through our store.Rate and review us at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, podchaser.com, and elsewhere.Find us on social media:DiscordTwitter @GhostsHarrenhalFacebookInstagramYouTubeAll Music credits to Ross Bugden:INSTAGRAM! : https://instagram.com/rossbugden/ (rossbugden) TWITTER! : https://twitter.com/RossBugden (@rossbugden) YOUTUBE! : https://www.youtube.com/wa...

Doctor Who is dead and not regenerating any time soon.[1. Photo by Krists Luhaers on Unsplash.] Star Wars is suspended in the bacta tank. Star Trek is redirecting all power to life support. Meanwhile, Netflix struggles to sing life into Narnia, bad philosophers stone Harry Potter, and goblins threaten to overrun all that was good in Middle-earth. But there were some who resisted. When studios keep killing great stories, could fans bring resurrection? Star Trek and Star Wars are on life support Star Wars—everyone blames Disney, Kathleen Kennedy, streaming. And of course The Acolyte all but ended fan interest in that galaxy. Much ink has been spilled about that, so we needn't do a remake. Star Trek—everyone blames Paramount, Alex Kurtzman, streaming. Recently even Project Hail Mary author Andy Weir called Trek bad. Weir later semi-apologized, but only for a seeming personal slight. And this just in: J.J. Abrams’ company is downsizing and moving. 2. Fantasy lands get slain by corporate orcs Rings of Power stumbles on, seeming to promise a “good orc” plot. Andy Serkis directs The Hunt for Gollum, a dubious “side quest.” Then came the big news that Stephen Colbert is writing another. This second side-quest movie hints at revisiting Fellowship events. As for Colbert, he's arguably an agitator and has no fantasy credits. Meanwhile, no news is bad news re. Netflix's “rock ‘n’ roll” Narnia. Some fans are more optimistic. We wish we could be, but cannot. 3. Solution: fight joyously for stories you love “If you don't like it, don't watch it.” Fair. But it's okay to criticize. Avoid the traps of “blackpilled” cynicism we mentioned last week. Great stories go on, launching from big studios or small creators. Even that trailer from Amazon/MGM's He-Man looks refreshing! But don't lose hope for big franchises either. They may yet return. Next for Ryan Gosling? Star Wars: Starfighter from Shawn Levy. New owners could restore Star Trek and DC. Let's pray for them! Thanks to AI advances, with little fanfare, we now have universal translators. And suddenly the “curse of Babel” was temporarily lifted. Americans and Japanese conversed with joy about tasty barbecue, patriotism, and the stories we love. But for decades already, people around the world have found the wonder of Japanese-made fiction—manga, anime, games, and beyond. Why do we love these stories?
This week we take a look at the most recent Star Wars series to hit Disney Plus - The Acolyte! There will be all sorts of spoilers and while the show doesn't have a lot of very deep secrets, if you'd like to find them out for yourself, be warned! We are a little bit split on our opinion of the show but we actually waited to watch the show before we reviewed it, unlike several people on Rotten Tomatoes.

In this episode of the Star Wars Escape Pod, Josh is joined by co-host Blake and friends Dan and Matt to revisit and re-evaluate the Disney+ series, The Acolyte. A year after the show's initial release, the crew provides fresh perspectives by reviewing the season through both release and chronological viewing orders. Dive deep into the series' technical execution, critiquing the "clunky" editing and forgettable musical score while praising the standout choreography of episode five. Leslye Headland was going to ruin Yoda forever. The Acolyte showrunner just admitted she planned to make Yoda an active accomplice in covering up Jedi crimes and murders in Season 2. Thankfully Disney cancelled the show before it could happen, but the fact that she even thought this was a good idea shows exactly how broken modern Star Wars has become. I recently ran through every Disney+ Star Wars offering in timeline order starting with The Acolyte (currently the series farthest back in Star Wars history) through Revenge of the Sith, and yes, that means I watched every season and episode of The Clone Wars. As a huge Star Wars fan my whole life (I saw A New Hope in theaters when I was in second grade and was hooked), all the recent Star Wars stuff on Disney+ both helped the story take on richer meaning but also brought a ton of problems with it as well. Let's talk about it.
I've been very composed until this vid. This last idea to have had Yoda be complicit and cover up all the Jedi who fell to the Sith in The Acolyte is the biggest WTF I've ever come across, and that is out of a show that is literally made to self impose ideas before George Lucas' prequel trilogy. The Acolyte has done a lot of things beyond just degrading the mythos George made, or calling passionate fans who respectfully didn't like the show, names, but to go ahead and try to change Yoda's morals that clashes with the narrative of episode 1 really questions what the F is going on at Lucasfilm that these are even possibilities and had the opening shot with Yoda learning about all this at the end of the Acolyte. It bothers me and this kind of creative freedom should not be so loosely given out with show runners who do not understand the power they've been given. The first full trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu movie was released on StarWars.com (and Disney and Lucasfilm social media websites) on February 17th, 2026. There's footage no one has seen before, not even those who attended Star Wars Celebration in Japan last year! That's great news, because the marketing team heard plenty of boos from the crowds watching the NFL's “big game” because the beer-like commercial homage didn't have much and it didn't even point to a more complete look online. Some of the revelations from the video are interesting, like a possible new mentor for Grogu, a “deck of cards” like bounty hunting quest, and a sweet new pram for “Baby Yoda” toward the end. Also, was that Marty voicing that Ardennian food trucker? Sources say it was indeed Scorsese! We have a closer look at the Hutts and even hear one speak. The resurging ex-Imperials set a meeting in a snowy place, Din Djarin does indeed seem to face off against ‘ol “Stinky”, and we once again see the Anzellans, some Dejarik holo chess pieces come to life, and a new serpent or dragon species to stoke our fears of wading in dark water. Yo! Embo! Is that you? I have the feeling he won't last long in the movie. Movie! Yes! Movie, not show! It's coming soon! A little over three months to go!The movie releases May 22nd, 2026 and though there are sure to be more trailers as it gets closer, this will probably be our last time reviewing it before we see it. Stay tuned to our social media and make sure to check back in with us for future podcasts. We released a #StarWarsPodcastDay2026 episode earlier this month and have monthly news updates. We plan on a special episode for May the Fourth, and we have coverage of all three seasons of The Mandalorian show from Disney Plus in our archives. There's much more, too, like Andor coverage, Ahsoka, The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and even the first season of Visions. We plan on continuing to cover live action Star Wars shows, like Ahsoka's second season, but if you're looking for commentary about The Acolyte, well, we were taught not to say anything if you can't say something nice. For that show, we can't.Despite being a special episode of This is the Way Podcast, you can still join in the discussion by sending a comment to the email address we reveal in our podcasts. Including a good subject line will help set you apart from spam. In this episode of SuperHero Homies!, we rank every live-action Star Wars movie and TV series released under Disney from worst to best. That means all 13 projects — including The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker, Rogue One, Solo, The Mandalorian, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, The Acolyte, and Skeleton Crew — enter the arena. Yes, even Skeleton Crew gets its day in court. Is Andor still the prestige king of Disney Star Wars? Did The Mandalorian redefine the franchise? Has time been kind to the Sequel Trilogy? Where does Ahsoka land? And does Skeleton Crew surprise us or drift into hyperspace obscurity? We debate, we defend, and we reshuffle the galaxy one ranking at a time. Before we jump to hyperspace, our cold open dives into the latest rumors surrounding Spider-Man: Brand New Day, including possible appearances from Tombstone, Jean Grey, and Man-Spider. We also theorize about the X-Men's potential role in Avengers: Doomsday and what incursions could mean for the MCU moving forward. If you love Star Wars rankings, MCU theories, Marvel and DC discussions, comic book commentary, superhero movie reviews, and pop culture debates, this episode is built for you. Whether you're loyal to the light side, flirting with the dark side, or just here for the chaos, we've got you covered. SuperHero Homies is your home for superhero and sci-fi commentary, nerd culture analysis, comic book discussions, and movie & TV reviews. Want to support the show? It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor of Mankind has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. But, how did we get here? Was the deified head of the Imperium of Man always a rotting corpse sitting atop an actual golden throne? And, how did the universe become littered with zombified men mutating into horrifying flesh demons? It's been a minute, but we're treading back to the grim, dark future of Warhammer this month. Namely, we're talking all about the most pivotal era of the lore's long, long history, the Horus Heresy! Come and join our fellow Warhammer junkie and Acolyte of Chaos Andrew as he details this defining moment for the once-thriving Imperium. This month's FLAVOR TEXT was commissioned by...nobody! The official Star Wars website ranks the best lightsaber fights in Star Wars movies and shows. They didn't include Anakin Skywalker vs Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar in Revenge of the Sith, or any fight from the prequel trilogy except for Maul Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, yet put in Acolyte fight scene with Qimir and Sol. I think this presents a larger problem at Lucasfilm that they just can't seem put their fence sitting aside just to promote all their shows rather than a proper tier list that is much more believable. If it was subjective, then no problem, but as the official Star Wars website, where the prequels USED to be plastered everywhere online, in magazines and marketing, it is now barely anywhere to be found in comparison to the diluted dribble they have released for hundreds of millions of dollars. I just want George Lucas Star Wars back, and I hope we will start to get that now that Kathleen Kennedy is moving on. Let's talk Acolyte, Mando and Grogu and more!
Acolyte of Death Chapter 1Episode 1Frisco Shans and Hardon Kumar are introduced to their first trials and adventures in the savage world of Xoth.
Tread Perilously's winter request month concludes with an episode of Merlin called "Beauty and the Beast." When a troll sets her sights on the riches of Camelot, she takes a potion to assume the identity of a conventionally beautiful noble in the hopes of securing Uther Pendragon's heart. Gaius suspects her immediately as he treated the aristocrat before for an incurable bone disease. Uther, however, is almost immediately smitten. But his devotion to the long-passed Igraine gives him some pause the troll must counter with more magic. Can Merlin summon up enough of his own to reveal the troll before she and Uther marry? Troll 2 almost immediately makes its way into the conversation. Erik and Justin attempt to separate their own familiarity with Arthurian legend from the one depicted in Merlin. Although barely appearing in this episode, they also highlight Katie McGrath. A Tolkien discussion breaks out, naturally enough. Erik has a difficult time accepting an Uther who genuinely loved Igraine. Justin questions the presence of modern romantic love in medieval stories. The pair try to determine where they have seen guest star Sarah Parish before. Erik suggests a certain Welshman to play Merlin. The Legend of Brave Sir Tristan is retold. The Acolyte gets examined again and the Taster's Choice Saga becomes surprisingly important.
As 2025 draws to a close, the Star Wars landscape looks radically different than it did a year ago. The Acolyte's cancellation sent shockwaves through the fandom, Skeleton Crew emerged as an unexpected gem, and Andor Season 2 proved why some stories are worth the wait. Matthew, Erin, and Alex reunite to reflect on a tumultuous year that saw creative risks, behind-the-scenes drama, and a franchise at a crossroads.Questions We ExploredHow did Skeleton Crew defy expectations to become one of the year's standout shows? From Jod Na Nawood's complex villainy to the show's Amblin-inspired heart, we discuss what made this series work when skepticism ran high.Did Andor Season 2 deliver on its promise as prestige Star Wars television? We break down why this season elevated political drama in the franchise and why the three-episode arcs proved so effective. What does the Mandoverse's future look like after The Mandalorian and Grogu film announcement? We explore Dave Filoni's expanding role and whether interconnected storytelling helps or hinders individual shows. How has Star Wars animation evolved with Tales of the Empire and The Bad Batch's conclusion? We discuss Morgan Elsbeth's origin story, Barriss Offee's redemption, and whether animated content is carrying the franchise's creative torch. What role did fandom toxicity play in shaping this year's Star Wars conversation? From review bombing to the Acolyte controversy, we examine how online discourse impacts creative decisions and cast members.Where should Star Wars go next to recapture its creative momentum? We offer our perspectives on what stories the franchise should tell, which risks are worth taking, and how to balance nostalgia with innovation.**************************************************************************This episode is a production of Star Wars Generations, a The Ethical Panda Podcast and part of the TruStory FM Entertainment Podcast Network.
