MonteCristo and DoA return to dissect Netflix's latest fantasy implosion, where Liam Hemsworth steps into the role of Geralt and discovers that charisma and coherent writing have both been exhumed. From botched tone and nonsense plotting to uneven VFX and dialogue that feels AI-generated, The Witcher has finally become the kind of fantasy parody it used to mock. The hosts break down why the show collapsed: bizarre subplots, missing chemistry, baffling character arcs, and some of the worst world-building since The Acolyte. They compare Cavill's grounded performance to Hemsworth's “mush-mouth” Witcher, praise Laurence Fishburne for stealing every scene, and mourn the death of what was once Netflix's flagship genre series. Plus: how this all ties back to bad adaptation culture, writer-room ego, and why Henry Cavill was right to leave when he did. 1975 found Genesis in a time of transition. After coming off a lengthy and technically difficult tour for their 1974 album The Lamb LIes Down On Broadway, most everyone was a little burned out. Peter Gabriel ended up leaving the band to embark on a solo career (one that would land him in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame) and the band were left with a lengthy audition process to replace him. Meanwhile, guitarist Steve Hackett had been accumulating music he'd written to keep him sane on the road during the difficult Lamb tour. But not only did Steve have pieces leftover from Genesis sessions, he'd begun to write pieces that might not make sense in the context of the band - acoustic pieces and songs written for a woman's voice. So while on a break from the band, he conjured up Voyage of the Acoylyte - his first solo record released on the same label as Genesis, Charisma. To help Steve lay down these track, he enlisted the help of bandmates Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins (who would go onto replace Gabriel as the lead singer of Genesis after dozens of singers were deemed unworthy). The opening Ace of Wands is a real showcase for Steve's guitar playing - crisp tone with technique that creates a rich soundscape. And while he does do a bit of singing on the record, he leaves the vocals to more capable collaborators like Sally Oldfield on Shadow of the Hierophant and Phil Collins on Star of Sirius. While some of this might have made sense on a Genesis album, some of the acoustic pieces or parts accompanied by his brother John Hackett on flute stand out as something different to what his band would usually produce. With a loose concept around the names of Tarot Cards, Voyage of the Acolyte takes you on a heroes journey with all sorts of incredible textures and sounds with Steve's guitar as the main focus. 50 years later, he still plays these songs live and they fit in very well with the classic Genesis songs that Steve still honors live. https://lnk.bio/Jeditalk The trailer we have all been waiting for is here! We watch and break down what we believe was everything seen in the trailer - we are sure we left some out! Did you catch the latest Star Wars LEGO special on Disney+ - it was excellent! John Boyega has thoughts on how he would handle the sequel trilogy. Did you see how much it cost to make The Acolyte...we react. Darth Vader was moved fron the now closed Launch Bay at Hollywood Studios - his new location is better than the alternative. All of this and more on episode 408 of Jedi Talk! (even though we said 407 multiple times on air... SMH)

Featuring: Ammosart, Ashgar, Belghast, Grace, Kodra, Tamrielo, and Thalen Hey Folks! Happy Labor Day holiday weekend for our fellow countryfolk. We start off this show with Thalen making a reference to a dream that Bel had… which forces a recounting of the madness. From there, we talk about Last Epoch and a completely silly build that Bel is playing, where things explode around him without doing anything. Grace also talks a bit about their similarly silly single minion build that just melts most things. Bel talks a bit about YoloMouse and how it solves the problem of not being able to find your cursor on screen. From there, Tam talks a bit about PEAK, which is a new popular multiplayer frustration adjacent experience. Bel talks a bit about the launch of the Third Edict league in Path of Exile II and how it seems like none of the streamers are actually having fun… and he most definitely was not. We close out the show with some discussion about some of the recent updates to Star Citizen and how it continues to shape up to actually being a game. Topics Discussed: The Beefists Last Epoch Fun with Thorns and Aboms YoloMouse PEAK Path of Exile II Third Edict frustrations Star Citizen 2025 updates

In this episode of Star Wars Uplink, we're diving deep into the swirling Star Wars rumors surrounding a potential second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi. The first season split the fandom — from showcasing a broken Kenobi and a fearsome Vader to raising questions about canon, character arcs, and just how far fan service should go. We unpack: - Why the Obi-Wan Kenobi show was so divisive - What worked — and what didn't — in the story of Vader and Kenobi - The risks of rewriting canon for nostalgia's sake - What a second season could explore (and what it should avoid) - Whether this rumor is just smoke… or the start of something real Could Season 2 redeem the show's legacy — or break it further? Let's talk theories, possibilities, and the future of Star Wars storytelling. Drop your thoughts in the comments: Do you want to see Obi-Wan Kenobi return?
Mike Gormley and Dave VanVickle answer questions from listeners, discuss the Biblical evidence behind purgatory and the best logical responses to support it.
