Well it was completely by accident but it seems this week is a Liz Best themed week, with all hosts recommending podcasts right up Liz'a alley. Zane takes a dip into the true crime world with Swindled, Patrick goes behind the scenes of classic films with the Wondery Inside series, and Liz recommends amazing stories of survival with I Survivor.Liz Recommends - I, Survivorhttps://wondery.com/shows/i-survivor/Liz's first podcast love was My Favorite Murder and her favourite episodes were always the ones where Karen Kilgariff retells episodes of the TV show I Survived. Welp, now there's a podcast with a very similar name called I, Survivor all about the kick-ass stories from those people who have gone through the worst and survived."Hosts Jenna Brister and Wagatwe Wanjuki share their stories, and those of the men and women who fought back, who won, and who live rising above the trauma of their experiences."For both: Pick an ep with a story you like the sound of, they have pretty good descriptive titles and blurbs.https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-survivor/id1405751724Pat Recommends - Inside Star Warshttps://wondery.com/shows/inside-star-wars/'It was made on a shoestring and dumped into a handful of movie theaters back in 1977. And then it changed the world.' This one's from Wondery, so you know it's good. This tells the story of how this cultural touchstone was made. All the behind the scenes stuff you'd heard about, all the juicy titbits, and then some. Created, written, and hosted by Mark Ramsay, this is part of a larger 'Inside' series from the man, and they're all of the same format and calibre. For Zane & Liz - 'Inside' what you will. Zane is bringing a true crime podcast to the table!? Indeed he is! But this true crime podcast is the best kind of true crime podcast, one with very little blood and guts.Swindled is a podcast that utilizes narrative storytelling, archival audio, and immersive soundscapes to tell true stories of white-collar criminals, con artists, and corporate evil. The anonymous host, using “A Concerned Citizen” as his moniker, recounts tales of real life, financially motivated crimes including embezzlements, frauds, Ponzi schemes, environmental disasters, corporate negligence, corruption, and more. For Pat: The StingFor Liz: The Psychichttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/swindled/id1308717668Subscribe to us on ITUNES, STITCHER, SPOTIFY, RADIOPUBLIC or your podcatcher of choice.Find us on FACEBOOK, TWITTER or INSTAGRAM.

This episode is for the good guys, the nice guys, the cool guys, the feminist guys, the dudes of earth who say they want to end sexual violence but who don't know where to start. No more excuses, dudes. The "me too" movement that Tarana Burke started a decade ago went viral after the New York Times broke decades' worth of sexual assault and abuse allegations against Harvey Weinstein. "Me too" started as a way for survivors to talk to each other, but warped into a kind of victimhood performance as women and nonbinary people were encouraged to make their experiences public, again -- in hopes of, this time, making good guys give a damn. We're tired of it. We're tired of asking, of begging, of cutting open our wounds again and again. So on this episode anti-rape activist Wagatwe Wanjuki tells men: It's your turn.  We're also joined by journalist Helen Rosner, who talks about her essay "20 Things Men Can Do RTFN to Support Women, Beyond Just Literally Ceasing to Sexually Harass Us." Can’t listen? We'll posted the episode transcript below in the next 48 hours — something we’ll be doing for all of our episodes as part of our commitment to accessibility.

During the Academy Awards, actress Patricia Arquette used her Oscars acceptance speech to advocate for equal pay and women’s rights. On the surface it was a rousing speech with a strong message, however she later said: “It’s time for all the women in America, and all the men that love women and all the gay people and all the people of color that’s we’ve all fought for to fight for us now.” As a result, critics say her comments undermined people of color and the LGBT community. We discussed the intersectionality of race, sexual and gender identity and women’s rights, and questioned whether there is a divide in the feminist movement, featuring Wagatwe Wanjuki, writer, activist and speaker on gender-based violence.
