There is a lot of fun meandering but we talk about our lives as low income, low-expectation, cockroaches. I have had some success in stand up simply because I have been doing it longer than Ross. But Ross is deep in the lowest level of show business and it is a strange life that does not make sense to any sane, functional person. We compare our lives to our friend's lives. Talking Through Still Gotta Mean Something On this episode number 78 of The Walking Dead Talk Through, Mark and I talk through Season 8, Episode 14 of The Walking Dead, which is titled Still Gotta Mean Something. This episode was written by Eddie Guzelian, and directed by Michael E. Satrazemis. Action and Heart! This was another great episode. This had action, but it also had character moments. You KNOW what it is!!! Don’t you??? Morgan is haunted by those words again, from the ghost of troubled kid Henry… except that Henry wasn’t dead after all. He went out there to kill those Savior escapees. Boy, that Jared death was both gruesome, and satisfying! If any character deserved to die, it was Jared. Hero Carol! Carol, after going her separate ways with Morgan, finds Henry, under a tree that looked suspiciously just like the tree Sophia was supposed to hide underway back in Season 2. It was the same tree, by the way, in real life, though they are far away from the suburban Atlanta that the characters were back then. What if Carol found Sophia back then? She definitely was a different character in Season 2. I thought that was a good tie in, as we see other tie-ins to past episodes and seasons elsewhere in this episode. Carol is a lot of things but a coward is not one of them. Read the darn letter, Rick!!! Rick, on the other hand, uses the words of Alden, and things he’s said back in S2E8 Nebraska, S4E8 Too Far Gone, and S7E3 Monsters, to entice the Savior escapees to return with them to The Hilltop, but he had other plans. It seems that several of them are lured in, help Rick and Morgan escape, and one of them even kills a walker that was about to get Rick. By the way, I forgot to mention it on the podcast, but I noticed one of the escapees actually called them walkers, so I think they were genuinely interested in coming back to The Hilltop. However, Rick was lying the whole time, and never intended on doing anything but killing them. I know Carl had other ideas, and really, this is the first time in a long while where I had to question Rick’s intentions. More on that below. Rick gives the hatchet to the guy that saved him just seconds before. I thought the moment after, when Rick asked Morgan why he saved him back in King County, was a little forced and didn’t seem like something the characters would have discussed at that time, had Morgan been staying on TWD. I understood why it was there, but would have appreciated a more natural scene for it. Jadis and Negan, sitting in a dump… The scenes with Jadis during and after the massacre were very interesting, but I had an issue with that slip. That didn’t look like it would fit under that coat, plus she had pants on! I don’t know why it was important to have her in that slip… though it shows off Pollyanna McIntosh. Judging her by her appearance on Talking Dead really cleans up well. Really well. I find myself actually CARING for her now, and she was a character I couldn’t stand just a few short weeks ago. Damn you, writers!!! What was more interesting was the interaction between Jadis and Negan. Negan, strangely, felt more human in this episode than Rick did. The lines have finally blurred some for me. I don’t appreciate how he’s shaped the world according to HIS plan, but he actually shows genuine concern for Jadis, though he spoils it some by saying she can have it all back. When you talk about people being a resource, you disassociate them from who they really are: People. You treat them as things you can exploit, as tools, and not as individuals. This hits home for me, given the recent issues I have been dealing with outside from this podcast. The Helicopter… We see the helicopter again, without any explanation as far as who’s it is and w

Talking Through The Lost and the Plunderers On this episode of The Walking Dead Talk Through, we discuss Season 8, Episode 10 of The Walking Dead, which is titled The Lost and the Plunderers. Audio Problems this episode… This week’s episode is not up to our normal audio quality. This is the first episode that I’ve done at our new place, and it ended up being very echoey with a lot of reverb. I’m working to correct this for next week. Also, we had a few technical issues on top of that, and that didn’t help. I corrected, or at least improved, some of the issues before handing the files off to Kyle for editing, as I was too busy with the move and the process of cleaning up the old place for a sale. Thanks to Kyle for editing this episode. I know it wasn’t easy. Title Cards This episode brought back the use of title cards. Most prominently, we saw them in the 5th season premiere, No Sanctuary. We see title cards for Michonne, Negan, Enid, Simon, Jadis and Rick, a total of six cards instead of five, as I mentioned in the recording (I was tired… so sue me!). Mark and I thought this was the best episode we had seen from The Walking Dead in a long time, and definitely the best of the season so far. We actually felt something for Jadis??? We actually felt sympathy for Jadis for the first time, after seeing her go through this brutal attack. Hopefully, she will become a more sympathetic character going forward. Ratings are WAY down from last week The Lost and the Plunderers got a 2.86 in the 18-49 demographic, with 6.820 million viewers, down considerably from 3.64 and 8.282 million viewers last week. I’m guessing people were interested to see what happened with Carl but were really disappointed that he’s gone. I expect more erosion of the viewership going forward. Get in your feedback! Talking Through How It’s Gotta Be On this episode of The Walking Dead Talk Through, we discuss Season 8, Episode 8 of The Walking Dead, the mid-season finale, which is titled How It’s Gotta Be. For this episode, I am joined by returning guest hosts Ben Beck, co-creator of the Next Level Network and co-host of the DC Prime Time and Next Level Showcast podcasts, and frequent feedback contributor Lara! I think you’ll agree that, yet again, both guest hosts did a fantastic job discussing the mid-season finale! We were warned by AMC that we would be shocked by something that would happen at the end of the episode, and most of us were, although that wasn’t our primary emotion. On the Facebook group, the majority of respondents in our poll were feeling sad after this episode, many were confused, some mad, some were indifferent, amazed and even happy and a few of us were all of the above. I felt many emotions about it, which I share in the episode. STOP READING IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE EPISODE!!! Initially, I LOVED this episode, but after repeat viewings and thinking about the episode more, some of that love has faded. This episode has a lot of plot holes, some things I did not like, and some real head-scratchers. I’m more positive than many, but I can’t help but criticize this episode, and much of the season so far. I still love the show, but I can’t help but wonder what I would have done differently if I had my writing cap on, and I think a lot of people are there with me. In this episode, we learn that the Saviors were able to escape the Sanctuary. They attack Alexandria, The Kingdom and the leaders of The Hilltop. I believe Maggie and the group were heading to The Sanctuary relatively simultaneously. It completely changed the course of the war. I didn’t get into it too much during the recording, but exactly how many Saviors are there? The “AHK” or like I say in the podcast, “HAK” (for Hilltop, Alexandria and The Kingdom) wiped out all three outposts. Well, the Saviors don’t know The Hilltop has 38 POW’s, but they are effectively out of the war for now. Yet, it seems that The Sanctuary STILL has enough “Negans” to take over all three at the same time! How? And how quickly did they come up with this plan? Burying the lead… OK, I’m burying the lead. We learn that Carl has been bitten, and in a place that can’t be amputated. Both by going back and re-watching the episode more than once, and by listening to showrunner Scott M. Gimple on Talking Dead, he was bitten while helping Siddiq “release souls” in S8E6, which is something that was mentioned during our episode 69 as a possibility. I am sad to see the character go, but the show has always done well when departing from the comic book. The imminent death of Carl, which will probably happen next episode, will pull the story in new directions and not follow the comic book. We can only hope things get better. Ratings are up! How It’s Gotta Be got a 3.36 in the 18-49 demographic, with 7.885 million viewers, up from 3.28 and 7.468 million that S8E7 Time For After got last week.

Talking Through The King, The Widow, and Rick On this episode of The Walking Dead Talk Through, we discuss Season 8, Episode 6 of The Walking Dead, which is titled The King, the Widow and Rick. For this episode, I am joined by guest hosts Reese Nicole Brown of The Introverted Nerd Watches, who returns a second time after recently appearing as a guest host for S8E1 Mercy, and Steve Brown, no relation! Both guest hosts did a fantastic job discussing this episode! The King, the Widow, and Rick is a Misleading Title! The title of this episode, The King, the Widow, and Rick, is very misleading. Although there was a fair bit of Maggie in this episode, we see very little of King Ezekiel and only a little of Rick. Unfortunately, we also saw a lot more of the Trash People than we bargained for! Ewww!!!!!!!!!!! Isn’t it about the characters? One thing that I neglected to mention during the recording was that The Walking Dead often has problems when its characters behave in a way against their personalities, and possibly against logic, in order to service the plot. e.g. Character A has to do this to make plot point 1 work, and Character B has to do that to make plot point 2 work, despite both actions are out of character. Unfortunately, we had a ton of that in this episode. Stories work best when the plot comes out organically from the characters, not the other way around. Ratings are up The King, The Widow, and Rick got a 3.57 in the 18-49 demographic with 8.282 million viewers, which is up from last week‘s 3.42 and 7.845 million viewers.   Ah, yes. Episode 6 of The Walking Dead, also known as the annual reminder that these seasons should not be 16 episodes long.   As Melissa put it, this episode was an actual dumpster fire for her, full of whys: Why can we see Trash People ass, but not Rick and Michonne sex? Why was seeing Jadis with no clothes on necessary? Why don't we know this grand plan? Why is Michonne doing this? Why is Jesus doing this? Why is Carl doing this? Why is Rick doing this? Why does Sunday come before Monday?   As always, we dive into some listener feedback at the end, which includes theories, snark, spoilers and all manner of fun. What lane does the Dead need to stay in? How long can it last? How big a star is Andrew Lincoln, anyway? Will the War with Negan last 8 episodes, or 16? Just how many episodes of Trash People backstory will we be inflicted with? Should Gimple and company just let Heath go? All this and more will be discussed!

Well, compared to "Last Day on Earth," the season seven finale of The Walking Dead was light years better. Sasha's last stand was masterful, but we're still feeling a little lacking when it comes to #Sashaham. We don't know if we quite bought the flashbacks and even so, it would have been better to see this when Abraham was actually on the show. The Trash People are untrustworthy? Who'da thunk it (everyone thunk it)? Though we continue to side eye Rick and his poor planning, we were thrilled that Murderer Rick is out in full effect. In an episode where a tiger conveniently mauls people just in time to save Carl from certain death, we still find the most unbelievable thing to be Michonne getting her ass handed to her by this random garbage woman. All out war is on the horizon and we're along for the ride.   Got feedback for us? We wanna hear it!
