Normally an elusive creature, The Mole can usually be found behind a DJ booth during the wee smoky hours in the midst of long, drawn-out sets. Known for his love of sonic collage and musical noodling, he boasts a long and colourful list of releases for labels like Perlon, Ostgut Ton, Slices of Life, Circus Company, Haunt, Musique Risquée, New Kanada, Internasjonal and longtime home Wagon Repair. "Fun story. My old friend Lex recorded this mix at a party here in Victoria, on a whale watching boat, with his minidisc, in 97! He's been telling me about the recording for years. Only now that I've moved back to this lovely island have I had the chance to hear the mix. Time warp. I often feel like I having conversations with a younger me. This is a nice one. =)" @moleofsoul
We probably don't need to tell you who Deadbeat is. (He even did a previous RA Podcast for us, all the way back in 2007.) But if you need a refresher, he's one of the most important and revered artists in dub techno. The Canadian artist came up in the Montreal scene alongside other trailblazers like Akufen and other Canadians (think Cobblestone Jazz, Mathew Jonson, Wagon Repair, etc). His early records for ~scape are some of the most classic and influential minimal there ever was, but dub is always at the heart of his work, and runs in the veins of BLKRTZ, the prolific label he runs himself. Sa Pa, on the other hand, sits somewhere in the ambient zone. Originally from Adelaide, he's found a powerful creative sparring partner in Deadbeat. The two released their first album together, The Mountain, earlier this year. It's the 50th release on BLKRTZ and maybe one of the most monumental records in either artist's catalogue, a triple-LP that harks back to the hypnotic, plink-plonk days of yore with the strong cross-genre underpinning that marks Deadbeat's work these days, and plenty of lovely atmospheric wiggles. The duo's lengthy RA Podcast, taken from two different recordings at their Absurd Dub Lustre party in Berlin, mirrors the LP's sound, weaving through tracks new and old. It's full of warm, dubby vibrations and smooth transitions. Read more: http://ra.co/podcast/836 @sapaofficial

Superfreq boss, UK legend Mr.C is a veteran of the tech-house scene, (real name Richard West) has repped some of the scene’s biggest labels, with Wagon Repair, Get Physical, Poker Flat among those he’s repped over the years. Now based in LA, The one-time Shamen frontman has embarked on a rich vein of form of late with new podcast platform, Superfreq releases, live streams and more. He's been outspoken around BIG topics such as rape within the scene. I was very lucky to chat to Mr.C about music, labels, streaming, demos and promoting. He also gave me his 5 things producers need to know and we also chatted about Erick Morillo and the scene as a whole. INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > inverted-audio.com/mix/the-mole The Mole is the alias of Colin de la Plante. Originally from Canada, Colin is now based in Berlin, where almost every electronic producer is living. With releases spanning from Perlon to Vitalik, Wagon Repair to New Kanada it's hard to pin down where exactly The Mole calls home. We caught up with Colin to speak to him about his music musical heritage as well as his heavily rotated 'History Of Dates' EP released in 2013 on Perlon, which also featured Terre Thamlitz's stunning "Sprinkles' Crossfaderama" remix on the flip. The mix was recorded live in a club using vinyl only, featuring music from Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Anthony Shakir, Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts and many more. inverted-audio.com/artist/the-mole inverted-audio.com/label/perlon
Recorded Live From East Ender Park @ Barcelona Luca Bacchetti : Not unhumorously hailing from the small Tuscan town of Lucca, Luca Bacchetti is one of the foremost proponents of the seminal swing sound coming from the peninsula and abroad. Currently residing in Barcelona, the DJ, producer and co-label head makes swift business of spreading his signature twists and musical turns through myriad productions and remixes released on Ovum Recordings, Wagon Repair, Supernature, Be As One, Tenax, Safari Electronique, Sci+Tec and of course, Hideout. Additionally, he's accrued a host of accolades including a nod for Beatport's Best Artist in 2008 that confirms Luca's status as an industry leader. As a DJ, Bacchetti's style is incomparable, showcasing his unique ear for selection and rare ‘voice' to which he adds a sexiness uncommon amongst his peers. Equally versed at moving a dark basement club to fits of revelry as he is to casting a deep shadow across a sunny beach party, the breadth and depth of sources from which Luca culls his sets astounds constantly. It is this duality of emotion that interests the DJ and inspires the work on many releases, specifically his last – The Endless Summer. The contrasting shades of Luca's sound have not been lost on the world's clubbing masses. International tours regularly bring his performances to the five continents and to the best clubs and festivals from Berlin to New York to Sydney, Ibiza and Tokyo.. www.theterracepodcast.com
