Patronato do SciCast: 1. Patreon SciCast 2. Apoia.se/Scicast 3. Before Patty Hearst appeared as an actress in John Waters' movies, she captivated America on the silver screen as a hostage terrorized by the Symbionese Liberation Army. When the newspaper heiress was kidnapped by the radical organization in 1974, the country sympathized with her plight. But after just a few months, the SLA's guns weren't pointing at Patty anymore. Suddenly, Patty was firing her own weapons during fistfights and bank robberies as a member of the same terrorist group that once kept her locked in a closet. In court, Patty claimed she was brainwashed and that she played along for her own safety. It's true that Patty Hearst gave the performance of a lifetime — but we still don't know which part of her life was the performance. KD Kempamma, infamously known as Cyanide Mallika, was India's first convicted female serial killer, preying on vulnerable women in Karnataka between 1999 and 2007. Disguising herself as a pious woman offering spiritual guidance, she lured victims with promises of divine intervention before poisoning them with cyanide-laced prasad or water. Her chilling crimes, driven by greed, ultimately led to her arrest and a historic death sentence, marking one of India's most shocking serial killer cases. Our other podcast: "FEARFUL" - https://open.spotify.com/show/56ajNkLiPoIat1V2KI9n5c?si=OyM38rdsSSyyzKAFUJpSywMERCH:https://www.redbubble.com/people/wickedandgrim/shop?asc=uPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/wickedandgrim?fan_landing=trueYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@wickedlifeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/wickedandgrim/ Instagram:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wickedandgrim/?hl=enTwitter: https://twitter.com/wickedandgrimWebsite: https://www.wickedandgrim.com/ Hosted on Acast. Back in June, there was a massive accident at the Eagle gold mine in central Yukon, on traditional Na-Cho Nyak Dun territory — 4 million tonnes of cyanide-laced rock collapsed. Surrounding surface and groundwater soon had elevated cyanide levels, and dozens of fish died. Cleanup efforts are underway, but now, the storage ponds are nearly full of cyanide solution and are at risk of another cyanide spill. Niall McGee is the Globe's mining reporter. He's on the show to explain what we know about this accident, what happened with the mine's owner, and why it's so crucial that they figure out how to treat the cyanide soon.

On a summer day in 1986, a medical examiner and her assistant stared down at a deceased woman lying on the metal table. Neither of them had ever seen anything like this, the woman appeared to have been completely healthy at the time of her death - she didn't have a stroke, there was no heart attack and there was no sign of a drug overdose. However, this seemingly healthy woman had suddenly collapsed on the floor and been brain dead just minutes later. Just then the assistant took a long deep breath in through her nose, and after she did she looked over at the medical examiner with wide eyes. The medical examiner did the same thing and took a long deep breath in through her nose. They both smelled a very strange odor, and it smelled almost like almonds. The medical examiner could hardly believe it, she'd only heard about something like this happening in movies and detective novels. But that smell meant one thing to her and to the assistant, this deceased woman must have been poisoned with cyanide. And this theory would soon lead to a large scale investigation by local police and the FBI, and what they would find would casue panic across the entire United States. For 100s more stories like these, check out our main YouTube channel just called "MrBallen" -- https://www.youtube.com/c/MrBallenIf you want to reach out to me, contact me on Instagram, Twitter or any other major social media platform, my username on all of them is @mrballenSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Have you heard of Gary Brecka before? You probably have... He's been making waves in the health space lately, but honestly, some of his claims are just plain ridiculous and not backed by science. One of the most shocking is his statement that "Celsius energy drinks contain 4x the daily allowable amount of cyanide." Basically, he's calling it pure poison! In this week's podcast, I break down this wild claim and explain why it's completely false, using solid science to back it up. I dig into how our bodies detoxify cyanide and get rid of it through urine, why it's crucial to understand that the dose makes the poison, and how avoiding all toxic compounds is nearly impossible. Plus, I do a deep dive into the actual cyanide content of Celsius drinks to see if there's really anything to worry about. I hope you enjoy it! Officials in the Yukon confirm elevated levels of cyanide have been found in waterways near a partial gold mine collapse last week. Just hours before, mining company Victoria Gold said no cyanide had been found in their testing. The Na-Cho Nyäk Dun First Nation is demanding an independent investigation, and an urgent halt to all mining in the territory. And: The party that championed Brexit and then fell into a chaotic period of short-lived Prime Ministers is headed for disaster in today's UK election. If Labour wins, it will end 14 years of Conservative rule. Plus: Whooping cough is back with a rage. Quebec has more than 5,000 confirmed cases this year so far. It can be fatal especially to children, and it is surging around the world. Experts are blaming a failure to keep up to date with vaccinations during the pandemic.
On this episode Pinkalla, Stolski, and Hahner dig into some serious updates on the current fishing situation. Stolski cracks a few eggs of knowledge on some trout fly patters that don't even sound real. We have some garden updates from the boys and you'd never believe how its playing out. Hahner is 50/50 on whether Celsius is toxic or gods gift to energy drinks. Pinkalla and Stolski are pretty sure the plague was not the ideal time in history to be alive and surprisingly Genghis Kahn may have actually been the GOAT. The Single Shot is back with an all new guest, and there's some crazy tournaments happening in California. The boys dive into Bassmaster Fantasy picks for Wheeler Lake, and come to some big decisions on the punishment for losing in the PTB fantasy fishing group. Don't miss a moment of this one!!!
In 1982, America had come leaps and bounds in medical innovations, including one little capsule that could be taken for just about any ailment: Tylenol. Unfortunately, one very disturbed person would take this magic little pill and wield it against the public as a terrifying biological weapon. This week, Hannah tells Katy about the infamous Chicago Tylenol Murders, in which seven people were killed before authorities were able to take action to stop the random poisonings. The girls talk a little science, and a lot of speculation about the mystery-murderer, including two wild suspects the police investigated. This one is pretty upsetting, with just the tiniest glimmer of hope at the end, so stick with it! And as always, pour those drinks, munch on some Cheddar Bay Biscuits (the girls may or may not have put away 4-5 of them during this episode), and join us for this Unsolved Mystery!Sources:https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/7636577/mary_ann-kellermanhttps://www.corboydemetrio.com/newsroom-news-tylenol-murder-case-press-releasehttps://abc7chicago.com/the-tylenol-murders-chicago-1982-adam-janus/12470278/https://www.wmtv15news.com/2023/03/17/madison-woman-lost-dad-aunt-uncle-1982-tylenol-murders/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanide_poisoning#Diagnosishttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6441064/https://www.chicagomag.com/chicago-magazine/october-2012/chicago-tylenol-murders-an-oral-history/https://www.pbs.org/newshour/health/tylenol-murders-1982https://www.huffpost.com/entry/tylenol-murders-changed-medication_n_64c82be7e4b024f8ebca9a8ahttps://www.npr.org/2023/07/10/1186906874/james-lewis-suspect-tylenol-poisonings-dieshttps://open.spotify.com/episode/2zSXH9Bvu3CeXEZvKkS3WS?si=3mNA9F2wS9-ZiLxnC23CxAhttps://open.spotify.com/episode/1XF1cOicPm0vzjKDxpUo94?si=a15b6PEvS52YHfCeT6DaHASupport the Show.Follow us @thetaleswetellpodcast on Facebook and Instagram, or thetaleswetellpodcast.comSupport us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/join/thetaleswetellpodcast?Click here for merch!
