Welcome to the SYNC Your Life podcast episode #357! On this podcast, we will be diving into all things women's hormones to help you learn how to live in alignment with your female physiology. Too many women are living with their check engine lights flashing. You know you feel "off" but no matter what you do, you can't seem to have the energy, or lose the weight, or feel your best. This podcast exists to shed light on the important topic of healthy hormones and cycle syncing, to help you gain maximum energy in your life.  In today's episode, I dive into a deep conversation with Anne Poirier on the topic of body image and how she went from self loathing to self acceptance. This is a powerful conversation and one every woman needs to hear. Anne Poirier, CSCS, is a nationally recognized Body Image Expert, Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, and author of The Body Joyful: My Journey from Self-Loathing to Self-Acceptance. With a degree in Exercise Science and over 30 years in health and wellness, Anne has turned her own recovery from eating disorders and body shame into a mission to help others find freedom and peace with food, movement, and themselves. A pioneer in the body neutrality movement, Anne's insights have been featured in Shape, Women's Health, The New York Times, Washington Post, HuffPost, ABC, FOX, CBS, and NPR. When she's not speaking, coaching, or writing, you'll likely find her barefoot on the beach, book in hand, or reminiscing about her days coaching college soccer. Every single hard drive you own will eventually fail. Not might fail — will fail. It is just a matter of time. The photographers who lose irreplaceable work aren't the ones who didn't care. They're the ones who meant to get a better system in place and hadn't gotten around to it yet. This episode makes sure you're not one of them. What you'll learn: The industry standard for data protection is the 3-2-1 rule: three copies of your data, on two different types of media, with one copy stored off-site. Each component protects against a different category of failure, and skipping any one of them leaves a gap that a single event — a flood, a theft, a power surge — can exploit completely. We cover RAID systems and the critical distinction most photographers miss: not all RAID configurations protect your data. RAID 0 actually increases your risk of loss by striping data across two drives, meaning either drive failing takes everything with it. RAID 1, which mirrors data across two drives simultaneously, is what's relevant for redundancy. We also draw a clear line between sync services and backup services — a distinction that matters enormously. Dropbox and Google Drive are not backups. If you delete a file or a virus corrupts your data, they'll faithfully replicate that change to the cloud. True backup services maintain versioned snapshots over time specifically designed for recovery, not just access. Our recommendation for cloud backup is Backblaze - https://www.backblaze.com/cloud-backup/personal#afc32p Finally, we cover cold storage maintenance — why mechanical drives left idle for extended periods can seize, and why spinning them up once a year is essential — and the habit most photographers never build: actually verifying that their backups work. Key takeaways: The 3-2-1 rule is the baseline — three copies, two media types, one off-site RAID 1 protects against drive failure but not deletion, corruption, or disaster Sync is not backup — you need versioned snapshots, not mirrored folders A backup you've never tested is not a backup you can trust This week's homework — The Audit: locate every drive you own and identify your single points of failure. If any important work exists in only one place, resolve that today. Then set a recurring calendar reminder to verify your backups every few months. Michael #1: Claude Code /insights Michael's Insights: michael-kennedy-claude-code-insights-2026-08-09.html Be careful sharing these outputs, they include details references to your projects, errors, security findings, etc. ;) /insights reads your last 30 days of local session transcripts and hands back an interactive HTML report on how you actually work. One command, zero setup: type /insights in a session, or run claude -p "/insights" from the shell for a non-interactive version that just prints the path Reads what's already on disk: pulls session logs from ~/.claude/projects/, skipping agent sub-sessions and anything under 2 messages or 1 minute Project areas: clusters your sessions into themes like "CLI Tooling" or "Documentation" with session counts Friction analysis: categorizes where things went wrong by root cause - and quotes your own prompts back at you Interaction style: tells you whether you're a delegator or a micromanager, plus which workflows are worth doubling down on Actually actionable: suggests concrete CLAUDE.md additions and Claude Code features you're not using The catch: Haiku does the per-session classification, so the first run takes several minutes; results cache to ~/.claude/usage-data/facets/ and the report lands at ~/.claude/usage-data/report.html Calvin #2: Post-quantum crypto lands in Python pyca/cryptography 48 ships ML-KEM (key establishment) and ML-DSA (signatures) — NIST's post-quantum standards, now one pip install away. Big deal because it's the 11th most-downloaded package on PyPI (~1.2B downloads/month) and sits under Ansible, Certbot, Airflow, and paramiko. No PQ there, no PQ anywhere in Python. Trail of Bits did the work (Rust bindings, cross-backend API, tests, AWS-LC backend support), funded by the Sovereign Tech Agency. Timing tracks a June 22 White House order setting federal deadlines: PQ key establishment by end of 2030, PQ signatures by end of 2031. Not a drop-in swap — the wire sizes explode. ML-DSA-65 signatures are 3,309 bytes vs Ed25519's 64; ML-KEM-768 public keys are 1,184 bytes vs X25519's 32. Hardcoded field sizes and length prefixes will bite. API looks like the existing asymmetric primitives, except ML-KEM is encapsulate/decapsulate rather than a Diffie-Hellman exchange. SLH-DSA (the hash-based conservative backstop) is still in progress. The primitives are here, but protocols haven't caught up — so you won't be running post-quantum Certbot this week. Sponsor: Xweather You're using agents that can write code, summarize documents, and automate workflows. But they're missing one thing: awareness of the world around them. This is where today's sponsor, Xweather comes in. Calvin #3: MCP goes stateless — and FastMCP gets renamed From Philipp Acsany over at Real Python The 2026-07-28 spec landed July 28 and the Python SDK shipped 2.0.0 the same day. Biggest rewrite since MCP launched, and it's breaking on purpose. Context for scale: the Tier 1 SDKs are pulling close to half a billion downloads a month, with TypeScript and Python each past a billion total. The headline is the stateless core. The initialize/initialized handshake and the Mcp-Session-Id header are both retired — protocol version, client identity, and capabilities now ride in _meta on every request, with an optional server/discover RPC if a client wants capabilities up front. Any request can land on any instance behind plain round-robin, no shared storage. Server-initiated calls are the hard part of the migration. Sampling, elicitation, and roots/list no longer call back to the client; instead the server returns resultType: "input_required" and the client retries with inputResponses attached. Multi Round-Trip Requests, MRTR. Also: Mcp-Method and Mcp-Name are now required headers so gateways route on headers instead of cracking JSON bodies, and missing-resource errors move to standard 32602. Deprecation sweep with an actual policy behind it — Roots, Sampling, Logging, and the legacy HTTP+SSE transport all deprecated with a twelve-month minimum offramp. Tasks graduated out of the experimental core into a real extension, which is what the formalized extensions framework was for. MCP Apps is now an official extension too, so a tool call can return sandboxed interactive HTML. Auth picked up RFC 9207 issuer validation, issuer-bound credentials, and a shift from DCR toward CIMD. Python SDK 2.0 is where it gets personal: FastMCP is now MCPServer, no alias, no shim. McpError → MCPError. Wire types went snake_case (is_error, input_schema) and moved to a standalone mcp_types package, with mcp.types kept as a permanent alias. One Client object replaces the old transport + ClientSession + initialize() stack. httpx became httpx2. Sync handlers run on worker threads now, so asyncio.get_running_loop() raises inside them. The good news: one MCPServer serves both protocol eras, so 2025-era clients keep working with nothing to configure, and a Resolve(fn) parameter lets one tool body cover MRTR and the old path. 1.x is maintenance-and-security-fixes only — pin mcp>=1.28,

Henry Sokolski continues: the Saudi nuclear deal remains "contradictory," with the White House and Department of Energy appearing out of sync. Media criticism reportedly prompted the president to demand a "quid pro quo"—Saudi recognition of Israel—to justify the proliferation risks. Israel remains in a difficult position; while desiring normalization, it privately opposes a Saudi nuclear program that could trigger a regional arms race. The deal's progress depends on whether it is submitted to Congress by late September. (10)1902

Today we're diving into something that I know so many of you have tried and found like it hasn't worked:Using manifestation when you're trying to bring your baby home. You've done the journaling, the visualising, the affirmations. You've tried to stay positive, to believe, to trust… and yet, so often, it can start to feel like manifestation practices just… don't work.It doesn't help that so many manifestation experts make you feel like you're the problem. Like you're not “doing it right”… or you're somehow blocking the very thing you want most. But what if your manifestation practice isn't broken? Drupal core 11.4 delivers all that and more Module name/project name: Drupal core 11.4 Brief history How old: created on July 1 2026 by catch of Tag1 Changes Performance improvements When Drupal 11.3 was released, we talked about what a massive performance jump it represented, the biggest improvement in a decade. 11.4 has done it again! Database queries are reduced by half, across a range of requests due to optimizations in how entity fields are loaded. Overall, that represents a nearly ⅔ improvement for database and cache lookups on a cold cache compared to Drupal 11.0 or 10.6 Entity listing queries have also been refactored to use fewer table joins, reducing slow queries. Additionally, the link field introduces a resolvable_uri property and token, which returns a ready-to-use front-end link (like /#main-content) right out of the API instead of raw internal URIs, which will be a huge benefit for anyone using Drupal for decoupled and JSON:API-based use cases Applying recipes in Drupal 11.4 is significantly faster, reportedly twice as fast, and that includes installing Drupal CMS Drupal now supports Brotli compression, which should yield 15-25% better compression of CSS and JS assets Security Drupal 11.4 offers a new password hashing algorithm, argon2id, that will become the default in Drupal 12 later this year Also, the drupal/core-recommended package no longer strictly locks minor versions for critical dependencies like Guzzle, Twig, or Symfony Polyfills, making it easier to immediately receive important security updates Drupal's default robots.txt now blocks well-behaved search crawlers from indexing search queries, helping to solve a potential source of traffic overload on sites using faceted search Developer experience There's been a significant shift towards the adoption of PHP Attributes in recent Drupal releases, and 11.4 is no exception You can now define application routes directly within your PHP controller and form classes using the Symfony #[Route] attribute. This drastically reduces the need to jump back and forth into *.routing.yml files The new #[Bundle] attribute allows developers to define bundle classes directly, eliminating the need to write old-school entity_type_info or entity_type_info_alter hook implementations. All core .theme and .theme-settings.php files have been moved entirely to PHP classes. Support for legacy .theme files will be dropped in Drupal 13. Furthermore, dozens of core .module files have been fully converted into clean PHP classes Front controllers now leverage the symfony/runtime component to isolate bootstrapping logic from request handling, preparing the Drupal core architecture for advanced environments like FrankenPHP, known for its blazing-fast performance, among other features Drupal 11.4 introduces a native, extensible command-line tool (./vendor/bin/dr) built in partnership with Drush maintainers. This kicks off a transitional period where Drush commands will gradually be migrated to the core native binary Also, the new HttpKernelUiHelperTrait for kernel tests lets developers make mock HTTP requests and assertions without running the full Drupal site installer. This allows many traditional browser tests to be rewritten as much faster kernel tests Editor experience Drupal 11.4 includes the new Default Admin theme, a version of the popular Gin admin theme, now in core The Navigation module is now enabled by default, replacing the legacy toolbar CKEditor once again has a fullscreen button available without a contrib add-on, allowing editors to fully immerse themselves in a WYSIWYG element's content, great for working on long-format pieces Deprecations The initial 11.4.0 release actually removed a number of core recipes. They were since restored in an 11.4.1 release, but they are deprecated and will be removed from Drupal 12 Also on their way out are a number of modules, including Ban, Contact, Field Layout, History, Migrate Drupal and its UI, Search, Settings Tray, Shortcut, Telephone, Toolbar, and a flag module called layout_builder_expose_all_field_blocks. For themes, Claro, Stable 9, and Olivero are all deprecated, and will be moved from core. We'll include the meta issue about these deprecation in the show notes, and if any of these are important to you, it's worth tracking where they are on the path of moving to contrib

This week singer-songwriter Patrice Peris joins Dave to flip the script on building a music career. That question musicians always get – what’s your backup plan? – is a terrible one, because Plan A was never required to land where you first mapped it. Through COVID, a cancer diagnosis, and a bone-marrow transplant she now calls a rebirth, Patrice kept asking what each detour was teaching her and never stopped writing, landing sync placements on Netflix, HBO Max, and The Voice along the way. Want to break into sync licensing yourself? Get resourceful and bullheaded: take a class, build multiple streams of revenue, and gamify the grind: how many gigs can you find, how many music supervisors can you email? Every musician is an entrepreneur, and the numbers game rewards whoever keeps opening doors. Then Patrice gets practical, because gigging musicians are athletes. You get her playbook for protecting your voice across three-set nights: a real warmup, scale work, stretching, smart placement that pulls the sound out of your throat and into the mask, and the vocal rest you keep skipping. From there comes the band conversation nobody wants to have: in-ear monitors and the whole mix exist to serve the lead vocalist, so drop the ego and decide together what you actually want your band to sound like. Build a backup bench while you’re at it, because life happens and roles need filling. Patrice stepped back from the stage but never stopped creating, and that’s the whole point: keep writing, keep adapting, and Always Be Performing. 00:00:00 Gig Gab 540 – Monday, June 29th, 2026 June 29th: National Waffle Iron Day Guest co-hosts: Patrice Peris 00:02:36 Live has given me things in waves that weren't what I wanted Welcoming the unexpected 00:05:20 “What's your Plan B?” Is a terrible question And Plan A doesn't have to go where you planned 00:07:55 COVID and Cancer…all a journey 00:09:10 Perspective… always be asking: what is this teaching me? 00:10:43 Always writing 00:11:40 How do you get started writing for sync?
