Natalie Henderson - Learning To Understand The Person Behind The Athlete

This weeks guest on the podcast is Natalie Henderson, Lead Youth Development Coach at Newcastle United Academy. With Natalie we discussed her own football journey & the struggles that women footballers have if they went to make a career in the game, along with her own personal struggles with injury, guiding her on a path of coaching. One of the main topics we discuss is the mental health of young athletes, the pressures & stereotypical male persona in sport of not being able to show any weakness & how it can massively impact a young athlete both on & off the pitch. We finally talk about Natalie's latest project the ‘Player Padlock Pad' which is football based journal for athletes to use to reflect on their own performance & emotions after training or games. More still needs to be done to help support young athletes in taking the risk they do in pursuit of their dream, so if you could share this podcast to any athlete, parent or coach, that would be massively appreciated. In the same manner in which they offended guests at the Indianapolis J.W. Marriott nine Super Bowl Saturdays ago (as detailed in the story that kicks off this episode), FOX’s Charissa, ESPN’s Jeff and NFL Network’s Mike air some of their dirty laundry--quite literally, in one of their cases. With Natalie sucked into the jetstream (not literally), they detail their various feuds, explain how much ended up in the concussion protocol before Super Bowl XLV and talk about the origin of the iconic Super Bowl party they co-host annually, pandemic-impacted-years excepted. They also speak of pink pussy hats and bone-colored pants. You heard me.

Nat & Stu bring the thunder this week to discuss the fourth film in the franchise and it's "biggest" to date (certainly in terms of length), Thunderball. With Natalie still emotionally bonded to this movie, it's up to Stu to explain just how overly long and in need of an edit it is. There's some wibbley-wobbley-timey-wimey stuff happening as well, despite Bond most definitely being on the clock to retrieve two stolen nuclear weapons. Still, there's a lot of fun with SPECTRE, some very beautiful ladies, some very blatant sexual harassment, and Stu's delight in discovering the jetpack in the pre-credit sequence was in fact real. Also, at 46.20 mark you may just hear Natalie's best-ever quip. She's certainly proud of it. Enjoy!

With Natalie in New York for the big GoT S7 finale, she and Stu catch up via the wonders of VOIP for this intermediary podcast. They discuss the potential fall out from the Jon/Dany Boning Potential reaching 100% likelihood, and Natalie's strong reactions to said boning (so strong she didn't even take time to appreciate gratuitous ass shots). They also chat a bit about the very timely justice that was brought to Littlefinger and the Ice Dragon bringing the Wall down with mighty ice-fire. Or fire-ice.
