What if one of the most beloved herbs for emotional healing isn't just uplifting—but helps us gently reconnect with parts of ourselves we've had to tuck away to survive? In this episode, I sit down with CoreyPine Shane to discuss mimosa (Albizia julibrissin), often affectionately referred to as the “tree of happiness.” And what a fitting name! Mimosa is celebrated as a joyful, uplifting herb, and is commonly reached for to help relieve anxiety and depression—though as CoreyPine shares in this conversation, its benefits are much more nuanced than that.CoreyPine also shares thoughtful insights about trauma, the body, and emotional healing, describing how herbs like mimosa may help us gently release what's been held for too long. Along the way, we explore what it means to work with plants not just as remedies, but as companions for moving through life's most tender and transformative moments—and the deep comfort of making connections with the living world around us.Don't miss CoreyPine's Peach Mimosa Elixir recipe! This fragrant, uplifting cordial might just be “happiness in a bottle”. You can download your beautifully illustrated recipe card here.By the end of this episode, you'll know:► The important differences between mimosa flower and bark medicine► Eight different herbs to pair with mimosa (and when to reach for one over another)► What it means when emotions become “stuck” in the body—and why mimosa is such a helpful herbal ally for helping to move them along► Important considerations for when NOT to use mimosa► and so much more…For those of you who don't know him, CoreyPine Shane is Director of the Blue Ridge School of Herbal Medicine, and a core member of the mutual aid group, The Appalachian Herb Collective. He has been teaching and helping clients for 30 years, artfully blending Chinese and Western herbal traditions with a focus on local plants. His book Southeast Medicinal Plants covers how to identify, ethically harvest, and use the wild plants of the Southeastern United States.Whether you're navigating transition, tending old wounds, or simply delighting in the beauty of mimosa flowers, may this episode remind you that healing often begins with connection: to our bodies, to each other, and to the rest of the living world around us.----Get full show notes, transcript, and more information at: herbswithrosaleepodcast.comWould you prefer watching this episode? Ask The Angel With Rachel Corpus with Rachel Corpus Ask the Angel: Spiritual Disclosure, Star Lineages, Angel Guidance, and Healing Through Loss Opening with Humor, Disclosure, and Spiritual Language In this episode of Ask the Angel, Reverend Rachel Corpus welcomes listeners as a psychic medium, angel communicator, and angel incarnate. She opens with a playful “WOO News You Can Use” segment, joking about religious statues, UFO files, extraterrestrial disclosure, astrology, and the Taurus supermoon before shifting into the deeper purpose of the show. Rachel explains that the program explores spirituality, science, magic, mysticism, quantum metaphysics, and quantum mechanics in a way that helps people remember what they already know. She also clarifies her language, saying she may use terms like God, Source, Creator, and Spirit interchangeably because different listeners may relate to those words differently depending on their spiritual background or religious experiences. Remembering Spirit, Body, and Connection Rachel teaches that human beings are spirit in physical form, using the idea of the body as an “avatar” or beautifully tailored costume created with Source. She encourages listeners to love, talk to, and heal their bodies while remembering that they are not separate from the God or Source that created them. She frames the show as a space for remembering spiritual truth rather than simply learning new concepts. Rachel invites callers to ask questions, share stories, and even respectfully challenge her as part of a larger conversation about angels, guides, loved ones, extraterrestrials, intuition, and the unseen world. Mimosa's Star Lineage and Spiritual Path The first caller, Mimosa, asks about extraterrestrial lineage and whether she should be searching for additional star-family connections beyond the Esassani lineage associated with Bashar. Rachel explains that angels are non-human helpers and that extraterrestrial or ultra-terrestrial beings can also assist people through love-based vibration. Channeling information for Mimosa, Rachel says her lineage appears mosaic-like, involving multiple star families rather than only one source. She identifies Lyra, Pleiadian, and Arcturian influences, along with the lineage Mimosa already mentioned, and describes Mimosa as someone who has served as a peacemaker, bridge-builder, and carrier of wisdom between different groups. Self-Love, Holding Patterns, and Spiritual Timing Rachel tells Mimosa that she is already in the right vibration because she has begun embodying real self-love rather than merely thinking about it as an idea. She says that this self-love is turning Mimosa into a healing presence whose energy affects people, animals, and even nature around her. When Mimosa asks about blockages in her path, Rachel says she does not see true blocks, but rather “holding patterns” created by earthly timing, where another person or situation may not yet be ready to meet her timeline. Rachel advises her to use those pauses for self-care, nature, emotional honesty, and continued trust in her path. Spirit Communication, AI, and Messages from Loved Ones Rachel then previews next week's guest, Alan Steinfeld, author of Making Contact, and encourages listeners to learn about his work on extraterrestrial intelligence and human consciousness. She also demonstrates dowsing rods, asking questions about politics, world events, collective awakening, intuition, and artificial intelligence. The rods indicate that humanity is moving toward more disclosure and awakening, but Rachel also channels concern that AI could grow too powerful unless people become more aware and take peaceful, loving action. Later, caller Sean asks about his daughter Maisie, who was lost in a miscarriage. Rachel says Maisie is present as a spirit guide for the family, loves school on the other side, enjoys being with her siblings, and may show signs through footsteps, electricity, ladybugs, and playful spiritual activity in the home. Pregnancy Loss, Angel Incarnation, and Closing Blessing Another caller, Amber, shares that she and her husband have experienced three pregnancy losses, including one at 38 weeks and a current loss at seven weeks. Rachel responds with compassion, saying that sometimes there is no simple “why,” but that Amber's children are still her children on the other side, learning and being loved in heaven. Rachel says the losses have also opened Amber's psychic development and encourages her to explore those gifts gently. Near the end, Rachel shares her own origin story as an angel incarnate, explaining that after a childhood car accident she was taken to the other side, shown the seraphim realm, and told she was a seraphim before choosing to return because she thought of her mother. She closes by reminding listeners that everyone is connected in spirit, encouraging them to keep their “halo straight,” and inviting them back next week.

This week we attended the most incredible party thrown for @onthescentmedia byGlorious Brands and Muse Communications - a room filled with friends: movers andshakers of the scent scene, from press, PR and brands alike. All were there tocelebrate the official launch of On The Scent Magazine - and somehow, with all theirlove and support - it suddenly felt real! The magazine was arrayed on tables around the gorgeously flower-bedecked room,Mimosa cocktails were sipped, fragrant friends laughed and we all basked in themost spectacular view of London, delighting in the golden hour (and a rareopportunity to come together across various companies who are usually the onesholding launches, not getting to relax and attend them!) It was just JOYOUS, andwe are so grateful to everyone who helped organise it, and who came together insuch scented harmony.Ahhhh! Bliss. After reliving the magic of that night, we are excitedly counting the hours until theFragrance Foundation Jasmine Awards (the podcast is nominated for three awardsin Best Audio and Best Visual categories this year, while Suzy is up for anotherthree for her writing!)Meanwhile, of course we had to continue our in-depth chat about#whatwearewearing lately (because there's a LOT to tell you about…)Nicola: Guerlain Cuir Beluga‘Typically tough, the leather accord reveals a new facet here. Gracing the skin withsoftness and enhanced by a refreshing tangerine accord, leather becomes suppleand luminous, blending with intriguing immortelle notes before melting into avelvety lingering trail of amber, musk and vanilla notes. An untameable leather, assupple as white suede.'Suzy: Amouage Love HibiscusBy Jérôme Epinet‘From the moment it begins, Love Hibiscus ingeniously presents both of its mainfacetsat the same time: a hibiscus note – tart, berry-like, and herbaceous - and anappetising sugar-coated Palmier accord - sweet, buttery, and caramelised. Linkingthem together, with their citrusy, woody aspects, are a delicious passion fruit and agenerous proportion of frankincense. Finally, sandalwood, Indian papyrus, andvanilla bring the depth that renders the whole perfume indulgent and sensuous.'Nicola: M&S Discover Warm Neroli‘This 50ml eau de parfum from Discover combines sparkling neroli and bergamottop notes with a soft musk base for an elegant, long-lasting fragrance. The carefullydeveloped formula creates a distinctive scented profile that transitions beautifullyfrom day to night. The sleek bottle design ensures easy application, while theconcentrated parfum formula provides all-day wear without the need for frequentreapplication. Perfect for adding an elegant touch to your perfume collection. From sweet, fruity notes to spicy ambers, experimentation is a key part of findingthe fragrance that suits you. ʽDiscoverʼ offers you a variety of scents mapped acrossthe fragrance families for you to explore and find your perfect scent.'Suzy: Balmain Destin (from £25)By Quentin Bisch‘An uplifting, feminine blend of strawberry, peony, and creamy sandalwood notes. The bold and feminine fragrance embodies Balmain's savoir-faire and modern pulse. It opens with a flash of neon-saturated, ripe strawberry. The vibrant fruit sparks ajoyful, optimistic energy, playfully contrasting the spicy pepper notes of baies rose.Rosy notes of peony reveal unexpected creamy lychee facets. The fragrance'sfloralcy deepens with a lily accord. Its delicate green note and the intense spice ofakigalawood come together, intermingling with a sandalwood accord and smoothpatchouli for a radiant woody effect. The brilliant, musky second-skin scent ofAmbrexolide grounds the composition in an irresistible, and unforgettable, sensualwarmth.'Nicola: Aime Parfum de Peau (from The French Pharmacy)‘Creamy santal mixes with white musk and ambroxan – a renewable molecule withwoody, amber notes that assists in extending the perfume's scent profile. With aroll-on application based on jojoba oil, Parfum de Peau inspires an intimate gestureof loving self-care. How to use: Apply a small amount of Parfum de Peau to pulse-points on the body, allowing for development of the scent with your own naturalchemistry – on wrists, inner arms, the neckline and just behind the ears.'Suzy: RNDL Circus‘Life never stands still. It twists and turns, dazzles and delights. Circus embracesthe spectacle. Vibrant, unexpected, and a little bit crazy, yet always in control. Forthe days that feel like a performance and the nights you steal the spotlight. Createdalongside Mathieu Maneuvrier, one of the most talented perfumers working today.Top notes: peach, cherry, strawberry.Heart notes: tobacco, maté, smoke, Greek saffron.Base notes: musk, amber, gourmand, cypress, cedarwood.'Nicola: Nuxe Huile prodigieuse® Multi-Purpose Dry Oil‘The irresistible scent of sunshine and warm sand of this oil with an inimitable drytouch will infuse your skin with radiant sensuality. Enjoy its subtle and envelopingscent on your skin and hair. Its unique blend of seven precious botanical oils(Argan, Sweet Almond, Macadamia, Hazelnut, Borage, Tsubaki, Camelia) andVitamin E will moisturise, nourish, repair and beautify the face, body and hair. Itsaddictive scent of Magnolia, Orange Blossom and Vanilla and unique dry oil texturepromise a truly Prodigious experience.Suzy: Miller Harris Tea Tonique extrait‘Tea Tonique Extrait pays homage to the olfactive artistry of the original eau deparfum, amplifying its beloved character into a richer, more immersive expression.A study of infusion and tea in its many guises, dis1lled for longer and drawn deeper, where brightness is intensified and lightness gains textured depth. Time andpatience allow each note to unfold slowly and completely. The fragrance opens with the unmistakable sparkle of Calabrian bergamot but here, the rind of the fruit heightened. The citrus oil feels more vivid, more tactile, asthough the peel itself has been pressed between fingertips. As the citrus radianceexpands, a softer dimension begins to unfurl. Peach blossom reveals, supple andskin-like, like ripe peach warmed by the sun: luminous, velvety, quietly addictive.Cool and sweet nutmeg threads through the fragrance with amplified presence, itsspice drawn out and lingering longer on skin.At the heart remains the clarity of freshly brewed tea, while mate takes on a moreinvigorating intensity. Jasmine and a whisper of violet lend a delicate, powderyelegance that softens the composition without dimming its light. As the fragrancesettles, light woods, smoky birch and comforting musk anchor the radiance, evoking the earth beneath the tea bushes and grounding the freshness…'

Send us Fan MailA villain whose superpower comes from cocaine. A character who fights by throwing dead dogs. A “hero” who exists mostly as an NFL marketing stunt. We start with a beer mimosa in hand and then stumble straight into the strange corner of comic book history where bad ideas somehow become canon. Along the way, we taste test a Disney California Adventure style beer mimosa, call out the price, and give you a simple beer mimosa recipe you can actually make at home with wheat beer, orange juice, and one optional upgrade that makes it way better. After the toast, we chase a bigger question: what makes a superhero power useful? We rewind to old-school nostalgia with the Wonder Twins and how their powers often feel like a workaround instead of a win, then stack up a list of real comic book characters that sound like parody. From Snowflame to Arm Fall-Off Boy to Matter-Eater Lad, we dig into why these characters are hilarious, uncomfortable, and weirdly memorable, plus what they say about the eras that created them. Then we do what comics do best: we invent new characters. Ours are intentionally useless, painfully specific, and built for laughs, like Captain Slight Breeze, The Negotiator, Lord Of Slightly Damp, Thermostat, Moisturizer, Spoiler, and Wi-Fight. If you love Marvel humor, comic book deep cuts, and the kind of creative riffing that turns everyday annoyances into “superpowers,” you'll have plenty to steal for your own group chat. Subscribe, share with a friend who loves comics, and leave a review, then tell us the worst superhero idea you can come up with.

This week, David Maxwell heads to County Antrim where he meets a Canadian couple gardening in the shadow of Slemish. Judith and Hugh Jackson moved to the area from Vancouver after they both retired. They built a house in a rural area and they quickly realised that gardening at 300 metres above sea level meant they needed plants that can look after themselves. Judith reveals her friendly ‘thugs' including the tough perennial Persicaria which cuts down on any weeding. In County Clare, the programme visits the Irish Seed Savers Association who look after Ireland's heritage apple collection and conserve heritage seed varieties for the future. Ruth Bramley from Farmyard Nurseries shows David some of her favourite indoor plants including Mimosa, also known as the sensitive plant, which moves when it's touched. In studio, Anna Hudson joins David with seasonal inspiration and the answers to questions including how to ripen pairs and what to do with a Kumquat! Email the programme at gardenerscorner@bbc.co.uk

Master Gardener Emily Clem talks with ACES Extension Agent, Brian Brown, about beneficial and non-beneficial weeds. He stresses that many weeds, often seen as nuisances, are actually beneficial. Clover, for example, adds vital nitrogen to the soil and attracts pollinators. In controlling invasive weeds, Brown recommends planting resistant varieties and modifying environmental conditions before resorting to chemical control. He suggests using pre-emergent herbicides for winter weeds and creating physical barriers for invasive species like bamboo. Kudzu, Bradford Pear trees, and Mimosa trees are some of the more invasive species, but the number one weed in our area is Chinese privet, and Brown offers several methods to remove it.Links:https://www.aces.edu/ (Alabama Cooperative Extension)https://mastergardeners-limestonecountyalabama.org/https://www.alcpl.org/Have questions about this episode? Buckle up, Book It Boyz — it's time to fire up the Hot Mimosa Time Machine! This week, we dive into some wild what-if wrestling scenarios that rewrite history as we know it:
Ben is a plant nerd, a people nerd, and the founder of D.W. Alchemists — a zero-proof apothecary lounge devoted to the ancient art of gathering well. He used to build things in the world of corporate tech; now he builds spaces for connection, curiosity, and botanical wonder. Somewhere along the way, a runaway lavender bush and a few wise plants changed his life. These days, he's on a mission to help people remember the magic of being alive, one elixir at a time.Connect with Ben and learn all about the magic of DW Alchemists in Wilmington, NC. This week, we're diving into Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel—a hauntingly beautiful novel that blends post-apocalyptic survival with the enduring power of art, memory, and human connection. Set in the aftermath of a devastating pandemic, the story weaves together multiple timelines and characters, from a Shakespearean theater troupe traveling the ruins of North America to the lives they left behind. Our guest is Dave Valeza, who grew up in Covina, California, after emigrating with his family from Manila, Philippines. Pursuing his love of drawing, Dave earned a bachelor's degree in illustration and a master's in sequential art. A passionate visual storyteller, he especially loves drawing people, fashion, and technology. In his spare time, Dave enjoys cooking, reading, and sketching in Savannah, Georgia - where he lives with his husband and family. Find out more about Dave and his work at davevaleza.com. Our drink this week fits right into a dystopian world. It's a simple Mimosa—cocktail or mocktail style—made with sparkling wine or ginger beer/ginger ale. But here's the twist: you must drink it out of a random old cup you found lying around. That's the full Station Eleven experience—elegance in the ruins. Cheers! The mystery and majesty of living soil and no-till farming further unfold in this episode with these recurring guests that have been captivating us with their incredible journey and mission to grow the most organic and noseworthy herb possible for years.Blackleaf is joined once again in the studio by Marco and Jake of No Till Kings to discuss classic genetics, building a brand in 2016-17 during the beginning of Prop 64 in California, securing their dream facility in Long Beach, CA, dodging shady business deals, why Sativas are going crazy in the market these days, the entire lineup of fire they're pushing at legal shops these days, and so much more.Few guests in the history of FSOTD have had a podcast AND grow tour done around the same time just two years apart, so we invite you to look back on the original interview and tour to get a better understanding of why these guys have such staying power in the market. One of the big overarching conversations in this pod that emphasizes that is the amount of hands-on effort and hard work that it takes to run a commercial indoor facility on organic, living soil utilizing “no-till” farming methods. Still profitably operating over 7 years later, No Till Kings have proven that the harder way is sometimes the best way to produce the most fire herb that captivates consumers for years to come.During this episode, you'll hear Marco and Jake answer nearly every living soil question you could ever ask. These include whether certain strains do better in a no-till system than others, why this method of cultivation brings out the best qualities of the flower, what some good soil and worm brands are for starting your first mix. There's even a nice little conversation mixed in about the effectiveness of under canopy lights on your commercial grow, and how you can almost guarantee an additional pound per light with the right Faven gear, according to Blackleaf. The story of Marco and Jake, two lifelong friends who bet on themselves to literally do it themselves at an enormous facility down in Long Beach, CA, and have endeavored to hunt all their cuts from seed, AND put in the extra elbow grease to do everything organic and regenerative is truly inspiring and high-key educational if you're interested in getting away from coco and hydro gear and getting back to the soil.Check out our more recent grow tour by visiting the FSOTD channel and compare it to the original and get a closer look at some of their strains like Lazer Fuel, Mimosa, SFV x Animal Mints, Jack the Ripper, Black Patronus, and more that are showcased throughout this episode. Visit notillkings.com to learn more about their library of pure heat.Subscribe to our channel and the FSOTD.com site to keep up with other key players and enjoy conversations with trailblazers from the culture you can't find anywhere else.
