The GURU pays his respects to a great radio show that has left us way too soon. Beatle and Decker has left the air waves to be replaced by something else from noon to three. Michelle Beadle, the superstar legend that has worked everywhere from Sports Nation to the Muary Show, was the leader of a dynamic duo with her right-hand man Cody Decker. Decker, a former Minor League superstar and MLB player, gave us three hours of sports, comedy, and life lessons that made everyone feel like you were on the phone with your sister and brother. The decision to take them off the air came as a shock to everyone, including some of the host on their SiriusXM channel. The GURU TALKIN SPORTS podcast is thankful and gratefully appreciative for the two years together and the impact you both had on me. It's only a small thing that I can do to repay you for your time, respect, and friendship. We all love you, Franklin and Winnie, and hope to hear your outstanding chemistry together again soon. Check out this episode and all episodes on Spotify, Apple podcasts, and everywhere you get your podcast from. Oh yeah, there are sports mentioned in this episode as well. Enjoy the rest of your Sports Weekend, and we will be back next week a special Father's Day episode.

Hour 1 Aaron Rodgers' signing with the Steelers sets up a Week 1 Sunday night game against the Jets. Rodgers will face tough AFC North quarterbacks; his jersey number is unknown, as Bradshaw's #12 is available. Updates also covered Giants OTAs, Russell Wilson on Jaxson Dart, and Kayvon Thibodeaux's jab at Eagles fans. Hour 2 While a move to the Knicks for Steve Kerr seems unlikely, Jason Kidd is being discussed as a potential coaching candidate, despite Boomer questioning why Kidd would leave Dallas. The Knicks' coaching situation remains unclear, with rumors circulating that some players dislike Rick Brunson. In other sports news, the Yankees shut out the Guardians 4-0, with Cody Bellinger driving in three runs, while the Mets blew a 5-3 lead in the eighth against the Dodgers, losing on a Michael Conforto hit. Additionally, Aaron Rodgers is signing with the Steelers, prompting Boomer to wonder about Rodgers' commitment. Hour 3 Reports indicated mutual interest between the Knicks and Kevin Durant at the trade deadline, a move some are calling "here we go again" given the trend of older players not winning championships. This sparks questions about potential big changes to the Knicks roster, with even Rick Pitino suggesting KAT isn't at his best. An older interview with Aaron Rodgers from 2005 highlighted his need to always prove himself, while Russell Wilson spoke at Giants OTAs. Chris Russo criticized SiriusXM for mishandling Michelle Beadle's show takeover by Stephen A. Smith. The Pacers came back to beat the Thunder in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the Yankees shut out the Guardians 4-0 with Cody Bellinger contributing three RBIs, and the Mets lost to the Dodgers before heading to Colorado. The segment concluded with a discussion about the Knicks' future and an upcoming guest, Nicky Cass. Hour 4 Social media comedian Nicky Cass joins us in the studio. He talked about how he got started doing all of the characters on his Instagram and TikTok. One of his characters is a baseball coach that would be teaching kids in Long Island or NJ. The Yankees invited him out to do stuff with Yankees players last year. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with the sounds of the Yankees shutting out the Guardians as Cody Bellinger had 3 RBIs. The Pacers took game 1 after being down 15 to beat OKC. Anthony Richardson injured his shoulder which is good news for Daniel Jones. The Moment of The Day: News promo interrupts Pacers game and Joe Benigno gets in the mix. In the final segment of the week, Boomer remembers a hamburger chain called ‘Wetson's' that he used to go to when he was a kid.

Barstool founder Dave Portnoy is in the news once again, this time for an explosive on-air confrontation with one of his hosts who defended the use of antisemitic "Jew jokes." Whitlock, T.J. Moe, and Steve Kim offered their insights on this contentious exchange, discussing what it reveals about the current landscape of sports media and comedy. In a notable shift, Michelle Beadle has emerged as one of the few media voices willing to take on Stephen A. Smith directly. She candidly expressed her lack of respect for Smith, accusing him of frequently misrepresenting facts and calling out the behind-the-scenes politics that resulted in him taking over her SiriusXM time slot. In the basketball world, Allen Iverson praised Angel Reese, stating that she reminds him of himself, both in her playing style and unfiltered personality. This comment has sparked renewed discussions about authenticity and star power in women's sports. Meanwhile, in the NFL, Robert Griffin III has voiced strong support for Shedeur Sanders, claiming that the young quarterback's performance during OTAs demonstrates that he has always possessed first-round talent. However, critics are accusing RGIII of pandering to Sanders. To close the show, the crew reflected on powerful remarks from South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley, who revealed that last year's Final Four loss to Iowa was so devastating it made her question her faith. Jerry starts with the Pete Alonso HR as the Mets beat the Dodgers. He hit another later in the game. Griffin Canning had another great outing. The Yankees were shutout by Cleveland. Gilbert Arenas went after Karl-Anthony Towns and it was mean spirited. Pacers Head Coach Rick Carlisle thought the Thibs firing was a ‘fake A-I thing'. Sal Licata was not happy with the Thibs firing and was screaming about past coaches. Dan Dakich called Sal, ‘some media douche bag in New York'. He also called NYC and MSG a ‘dump'. Michelle Beadle found out she was being replaced by Stephen A. Smith with very little notice. And the Oilers beat the Panthers in OT to take game 1.
We heard audio of Dave Portnoy screaming at Kirk Minihane and it got really uncomfortable. Michelle Beadle reacted to being replaced by Stephen A. Smith on their SiriusXM show. The Oilers beat the Panthers in game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals in OT. Wayne Gretzky was trying to understand ‘Pink Pony Club', the song by Chappell Roan.
Hour 1 The Knicks' coaching search is narrowing, with Rick Pitino emphasizing the immense pressure facing the new hire. Jeff Van Gundy is a strong candidate, while Mike Malone is reportedly out. In other sports news, Pete Alonso homered twice in the Mets' win, the Yankees were shut out, and there's drama with Gilbert Arenas criticizing Karl-Anthony Towns, and a public spat between Sal Licata and Dan Dakich over the Thibs firing. Michelle Beadle was replaced by Stephen A. Smith with little notice, and the Oilers took Game 1 against the Panthers in overtime. Hour 2 The Knicks' coaching situation continues to dominate discussion, with Rick Pitino advising Karl-Anthony Towns to reduce his body fat. Callers drew parallels to the Yankees' successful transition from Buck Showalter to Joe Torre, hoping for a similar outcome for the Knicks. In other sports, the Mets defeated the Dodgers with Pete Alonso hitting two home runs, while the Yankees were shut out by the Guardians. Rick Pitino also weighed in on Aaron Judge, calling him a "Babe Ruth type player," and expressed shock at the Thibs firing, a sentiment echoed by Adam Schein and Chris Russo—the latter misnaming Leon Rose as "Leon Hess." The Oilers won Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Off the field, comedian Jeff Garlin reportedly refused to perform at an event due to an $800 cash dispute. Finally, a caller suggested Juan Soto's improved performance is simply due to him enjoying the game, rather than a Mets/Yankees rivalry. Hour 3 Michael Rubin, CEO of Fanatics, joined the show to discuss Fanatics Fest happening later this month at the Javits Center. In sports updates, the Mets beat the Dodgers with Juan Soto walking three times and Pete Alonso hitting two homers, while Griffin Canning had another strong start. The Yankees were shut out by Cleveland. We heard an uncomfortable clip of Dave Portnoy yelling at Kirk Minihane, and Michelle Beadle reacted to being replaced by Stephen A. Smith on their SiriusXM show. The Oilers won Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals in overtime. Off the field, Wayne Gretzky was trying to understand Chappell Roan's "Pink Pony Club." Finally, the discussion turned to MLB's new rule allowing two ball/strike challenges per team starting next season, with concern that it might slow down games after successful efforts to speed them up. Hour 4 The show discussed the Fanatics Fest event, where everyday individuals can compete against professional athletes, detailing the various challenges. Saquon Barkley made headlines with a surprising comment about a potential sudden retirement. Jerry's final update covered the Mets beating the Dodgers behind two Pete Alonso home runs, and the Yankees being shut out by Cleveland. Rick Carlisle thought the Knicks' Thibs firing as a "fake A-I story," leading to a humorous debate about whether Stephen A. Smith or Chris Russo would prefer to be President or Head Coach of the Knicks. The Oilers defeated the Panthers in overtime to win Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. The "Moment of The Day" involved Gio mispronouncing "unkillable" as "unlikeable" when referring to BT's podcast. The show concluded with a discussion of the NBA's reaction to the Thibs firing.
