BriouxTV: The Podcast

Ennis Esmer plays the grass is always greener guy on Children Ruin Everything. Unlike his married workmate James (Aaron Abrams), he's the guy with no kids, no responsibilities, and no money worries. It's a character that should be hard to like but, when it comes to Canadian TV shows and movies, Esmer is always welcome.Born in Turkey and raised in Toronto, the actor-comedian has been the secret weapon on several series. He played “Oz” on The Listener, “Maz” on Private Eyes, Nash on Red Oaks and Rich Dotcom on Blindspot. He acts in Canadian indie films with the sexiest titles, including “How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town” and, of course, “Young People F---ing.”Now he gets to play a guy named Ennis on Children Ruin Everything. The CTV sitcom airs its season finale Feb. 23 and is already renewed for a second season. Esmer has credits on a variety of other shows, including Man Seeking Women, The LA Complex, Covert Affairs and Schitt's Creek. He's been a host on everything from the Canadian edition of Wipeout to the Gemini Awards and, most recently, Roast Battle Canada. Not bad for a guy who arrived in Canada with his family at three and learned to speak english from watching TV!

This week on End Credits, we find the love. The news has been filled with all kinds of hate and scary things lately, but for this episode, we're going to log on to Netflix and review the new outrageous rom-com, The Lovebirds. Before that, we're going to get back to the classic End Credits of old, and tell you about what's been happening in movie news lately. This Wednesday, June 3, at 2 pm, Adam A. Donaldson and Peter Salmon will discuss: What's in the News? Normally on End Credits, we spend the first half of the show talking about the latest in pop culture news, but with the format getting remixed because of COVID-19, we haven't been able to stay on top of things like we should. Well, this week, we're going to review some of the latest news, from casting choices, to new releases, to the fate of the exhibition business itself! REVIEW: The Lovebirds (2020). The last time that Kumail Nanjiani and Michael Showalter teamed up it was for the personal, and Oscar-nominated The Big Sick. The Lovebirds is not that. It's more silly, more adventurous, and it was written by the team that brought you Young People F**king, but can it possibly stand on its own in the shadow of The Big Stick, and can it stand out having been shuffled to Netflix after its theatrical release was cancelled? End Credits is on CFRU 93.3 fm and cfru.ca Wednesday at 2 pm.

On this episode of the Sup Coronacast, Alise and Kaitlin start the show with the latest news on COVID-19, including states facing scrutiny for how they’re reporting coronavirus infections, and churches showing they’re eager to resume services, whether or not it’s actually safe to do so. Next, they discuss Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell offering testimony before the Senate Banking Committee yesterday. Finally, they talk about new data that shows young workers have been hit hardest by the economic crisis, and explain why young people were also the most likely to have had their pay cut.

Carly Pope, a very sexy young actress with a strong male following, thanks to her appearances in Canadian films such as—hold your ears, tea party members—Young People F*cking and Itty Bitty T!tty Committee. (And for the record, she’s the second cast member I’ve interviewed from YPF, as it's known in ads.) She’s done salacious American comedy, too, such as “Calif@rnication” with David Duchovny and “Dirt” with Courtney Cox.

Today's Guest: Jesse Bradford, actor, "Outlaw" Jesse Bradford in "Sequestered" Over the past week, I’ve been delighted to play host to the two leading ladies of NBC’s new legal series, “Outlaw” – Carly Pope and Ellen Woglom. They both told me how wonderful the star’s show, Jimmy Smits, is. Who cares about him? JESSE BRADFORD podcast excerpt: "I've never really had a steady gig. That was always a tremendously appealing life to me throughout my 20s; I didn't want my life to be about my work. But now, at 31, I would love to have a steady gig."  What I really want to know, only a man can tell me: what’s it like to work with Carly and Ellen, who have starred, respectively, in the film Young People F@cking and the TV show “Californication”? I know, I know: I’m hopeless. You’ll probably recognize Jesse Bradford, by the way: he’s been in a pile of successful films by renown directors prior to playing Eddie Franks on “Outlaw,” which airs Fridays @ 10 p.m. on NBC. There was Clint Eastwood,’s Flags of Our Fathers and Oliver Stone’s W. He also appeared in Steven Soderbergh’s King of the Hill and Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo & Juliet, opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. Good work, if you can get it. Jesse Bradford Twitter • IMDB • Wikipedia • Instagram LISTEN! On NBC’s “Outlaw,” Carly Pope plays Lucinda Pearl, a wildly unorthodox private investigator who uses her sex appeal and wit to gather information for Cyrus Garza (Jimmy Smits). Pope has recurred on critically acclaimed television shows such as “24,” “Dirt” and “Californication.” On the feature-film side, Pope recently wrapped the sequel to “SWAT” opposite Gabriel Macht. She can also be seen in “Textuality” as the lead opposite Eric McCormack. Prior to that, she starred in the controversial Toronto International Film Festival favorite, “Young People F****.” Many also remember Pope opposite Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey in “Two For the Money” and alongside Colin Hanks and Jack Black in “Orange County.” Pope got an early start in her hometown of Vancouver, B.C. with various television and film work before landing the plum role of Sam on the series “Popular,” which aired for two years, launching her career. After “Popular” was cancelled, Pope returned to Vancouver where she continued to win new fans and impress industry insiders and the media with her insightful and sensitive portrayals. Pope is a Leo Award winner for her work on the series “The Collector.” Starring Emmy Award winner Jimmy Smits ("NYPD Blue," "The West Wing"), "Outlaw" is a new drama from creator and executive producer John Eisendrath ("Alias," "Felicity"). Few jobs are guaranteed for a lifetime, and a Supreme Court appointment is a position that no one ever quits -- unless he is Cyrus Garza (Smits). A playboy and a gambler, Justice Garza always adhered to a strict interpretation of the law until he realized the system he believed in was flawed. Now, he's quit the bench and returned to private practice. Using his inside knowledge of the justice system, Garza and his team will travel across the country taking on today's biggest and most controversial legal cases.
