Best Boys is (another) film review podcast, in which the hosts review the movies that defined our childhoods to see how well they do or don't hold up! Mickey, Kevin, and Zack are particularly interested in the films that feel like they were probably fever dreams. Anybody remember "Max Keeble's Big…

The boys are back with a new take on a modern-classic Disney film. This musical from 1995 takes Mickey, Kevin, and Zack down memory lane as they recall what it was like to be a kid in the 90's. The gang reviews the touching tale of fatherhood though the prism of the lost art of Milk Men, Super Mario, Star Trek and astrology. We want to thank Origami Angel for letting us use their music. The boys sit down to talk FernGully, a movie that Disney tried desperately to ruin. Talking points include the beloved Robin Williams, the environment, and Australian accents (and the lack thereof).
In this episode our hosts talk about the The Mandela effect, Phillies Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt, and starfish. It's a wild ride from start to finish as Kevin, Mickey, and Zack follow the yellow brick road of memories surrounding this classic film. *NOTE* This podcast was recorded while we still went by our old name, so be aware of that. *second note* It's actually the Scarecrow who has a gun. This week on Best Boys we watched a childhood favorite, "Osmosis Jones", and then we regretted it deeply. I bet you THINK you remember how gross this movie is, but I promise you it's way grosser than you could even imagine. Editor's note: The audio on this one came out a little clunky. Kevin and Mickey are very gainy and Zack is very quiet. We did our best to repair the audio and hope you still enjoy the episode!!
Cue Thin Lizzy's "The Boys are Back in Town". That's right! We're back and better than ever! The world is on fire and we hope this helps you escape for just a little bit. We missed you. Hope you're doing well.
The boys are back in town! Join us as we return to the 2007 silver screen debut of everybody's favorite fighting robots, the Rock-Em Sock-Em Robo- sorry, what's that? Oh. Oh I see. My apologies, I have just been informed that the robots in question are, in fact, the Transformers. Apologies for the mix-up.
The boys watched an early 2000's Nick classic: Jimmy Neutron! Join us for some Transformers impressions, discussions on what a jerk Jimmy is, jokes about Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, and Freud's concepts of the id, ego, superego, and the newly discovered "Super Id".
Happy Birthday Zack! We recorded this episode in early January just after Zack's birhday after it came to light that neither Kevin or Mickey had ever seen Robocop. Starting next week we'll be back to weekly updates on Fridays!
The boys are back after an unexpected hiatus! We hope you didn't miss us too much! Friend of the show SpookyCutes (check them out on Etsy!) asked us to watch Jingle All The Way for our holiday episode, so we did! Special thanks to California Cousins for lending us their holiday tune "Christmas Morning" for our intro and outro today.
This episode really goes off the rails as the boys expend every possible effort to avoid talking about a film none of them enjoyed. Talking points include: Disney's Nearly Eliminated Animations Department, Magical Girl Anime, Zack as a Therapist, Gurgi as Played by Kevin, Diverse Parenting Styles, and Zack's "Three C's".
The boys watch Rocky! Talking points include Surprisingly Good Acting, Softcore Porn, The Everlasting Wawa VS. Sheetz Debate, Water Ice, Philadelphia, Bisexuality, A Beautiful Mind, and Perspicacity (pərspiˈkasədē).
The boys watched Blade Runner! (The Final Cut) Zack and Mickey argue about whether or not Deckard is a replicant! Kevin doesn't like this movie! And behind the scenes: We recorded for nearly 3 hours which made the editing process horrific. The result? An episode of our podcast that will likely see six more revisions over the next few decades before we land on a version that people can agree is technically "good".
Welcome to a very special, one-of-a-kind musical spin-off episode of Best Boys! We had the opportunity to review the brand-spankin-new album from Origami Angel, the band responsible for our theme music! Special thanks to Ryland and Pat of Origami Angel, as well as Lex of Chatterbot Records. Additional talking points include Gami's Upcoming LP Release Shows, Composite Super Man (???), Our Shared Higher Learning Establishment, and Mickey being wrong about the definition of blast beats and also what is and isn't a real Tarot Card.
The boys take the Voight-Kampff Test to try and figure out which host has been replaced by a replicant! Will they find and retire the robot before it's too late? Listen and find out!
The boys watch Max Keeble's Big Move, which is a formulaic Disney film with a secret political agenda? Listen to find out more! Other talking points include Garfield, Mad Max, Superman, Ska, Tony Hawk, Lil Romeo, and our own childhood traumas.
For a very spooky Halloween special, the boys sat down to watch Ghostbusters! Talking points include Several Draculas, Star Wars, Arnold Schwarzenegger x Danny Devito Romances, Ectoplasm, Broadway Musicals, Sexy Alec Baldwin, and Local vs Global Catastrophes.
Our hosts revisit the 1987 Disney classic "The Brave Little Toaster". Perhaps a more appropriate title would be "Baby's First Horror Flick". Talking points include death, dying, mortality, existential dread, and parallels to "Toy Story" as well as Steven King's "It"!
Best Boys' Pilot Episode! Our hosts Mickey, Kevin, and Zack watch Disney's "Frozen" and compare/contrast it with their first viewings. Can you guess who watched it with their family, who watched it drunk in a college auditorium, and who loathed Olaf with a fiery passion? The answers may surprise you!
