Back in the 70s and 80s, the television broadcast of The Wizard of Oz was a hugely anticipated annual event. The kids had their Wizard of Oz dolls from Mego, and their Wizard of Oz comic book from Marvel and DC, just to get them through the long year between viewings. But that was the classic movie from 1939. Have you ever seen the 1925 version? Kevin and the Mayor just did, so we're here to file our report for you. This is a bizarre little silent slapstick comedy, and it features a Buster Keaton-type Scarecrow, a Dorothy played by a lady actually named Dorothy, Oliver Hardy (pre-Laurel) as the Tin Man, an unhealthy dose of blatant racism, and a vomiting duck. It's not great, but it is a curiosity. And since it's silent, you don't have to worry about the duck breaking into "Over the Rainbow." The Flopcast website! The ESO Network! The Flopcast on Facebook! Originally aired April 25, 2018. American philosopher and best-selling author Jean Houston describes herself as an "evocateur of the possible" and a "midwife of souls." She sits down with Oprah to talk about her expansive career, mythologist Joseph Campbell, her work with luminaries like Hillary Clinton and the moment she had her spiritual awakening at age 6. Jean discusses her book "The Wizard of Us: Transformational Lessons from Oz," which examines the timeless American classic "The Wizard of Oz," a mythic tale brimming with spiritual insights and lessons. Jean reveals how Dorothy's journey can be a catalyst to live an authentic life filled with heart, brains and courage. Oprah also shares her favorite spiritual lesson from "The Wizard of Oz." What a coup! A quick chat with Disasterpeace ahead! Yes, the very artist that redefined the electronic melting pot that horror film soundtracks this century would hang their machete's upon. He is with us here today to discus his work on 'It Follows' and 'Bodies, Bodies, Bodies' plus the film that he has chosen to focus on is one of those children's gateways into fear... From 1993 we dip our toes into 'The Sandlot'.DISASTERPEACE
In this message from At the Movies, Pastor David Hughes uses The Wizard of Oz to teach about the condition of the heart, reminding us that what flows from within shapes our lives, and that God blesses integrity, not imitation.

Jamie, Jimmy and Bob get a buzz from the poppy fields while they breakdown the script to Victor Fleming's 1939 masterpiece The Wizard of Oz.
Return to Oz might be marketed as a fantasy sequel—but rewatching it as adults reveals something far darker. From electroshock therapy and abandoned children to the Wheelers, Princess Mombi's Hall of Heads, and the terrifying Nome King, this Disney film feels more like a full-blown horror movie than a family classic. In this episode of How I Met Your Monster, we continue our Scarytales triple feature by breaking down Return to Oz through the lens of monster introductions, childhood trauma, and nightmare fuel imagery. We explore why this movie terrified so many of us as kids, how it stays unsettling as adults, and why it might be Disney's most disturbing film.We also dive into behind-the-scenes facts, Walter Murch's direction, the film's connection to the original Oz books, and how Return to Oz embraces darker fantasy in the tradition of The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. Movement is a natural way to combat inflammation and boost energy and brain power. Rosemary tea, made by boiling rosemary for 15 minutes, is a great anti-inflammatory option. While injectable medications like Ozempic are popular, natural remedies like ginger, turmeric, and rosemary can be equally effective without the side effects. Higher Ground Available on Spotify, Apple, or wherever you listen to music. Pope Leo advises avoiding five types of people to navigate life peacefully: those who suffocate joy, manipulators, those who diminish your growth, darkness bearers, and the indifferent. Protect your inner peace and rise above negativity to live in clarity and grace. The original “Wonderful Wizard of Oz” book, published in 1900, explores themes beyond a children's fairy tale, including industrial era anxiety and psychological growth. The story, set in the gray prairies of Kansas, follows Dorothy's journey to the vibrant land of Oz, where she learns that the characters she meets already possess the traits they seek. The book also serves as a commentary on the free silver movement, symbolizing the dangers of relying on external authority and the importance of self-reliance. The Wizard of Oz is a political allegory, with D.C. as the Emerald City and politicians as humbugs. The Wicked Witch of the West represents modern data monopolies like Amazon and Google, who control information and delivery. Breaking free from social media and finding individual agency on a local level is crucial for true protection and empowerment. I find meaning and nourishment in exploring themes and symbolism, much as they did with The Wizard of Oz. I reimagine “The Wizard of Oz” with Dorothy as an African-American woman, representing the resilience and power of black women in politics. It highlights the overlooked contributions of women like Kamala Harris, Stacey Abrams, and Jasmine Crockett, who are portrayed as strong, qualified leaders. The yellow brick road symbolizes the path to empowerment, built through sacrifice and community. #WizardOfOzReimagined #BlackWomenInPolitics #PodcastAlert #ModernAllegory #Representation #KamalaHarris #StaceyAbrams #JasmineCrockett #Sisterhood #EmeraldCity #PodcastCommunity #JasmineCrockett #StaceyAbrams Crypto-Scammers are on some new BS..."Chen Zhi was among three Chinese nationals arrested on 6 January after a joint investigation into transnational crime lasting several months, Cambodia said." Stacy Rush is paying the girls poorly and is being criticized for her delusional behavior. Tia underestimated Stacy's delusions and is now trying to align herself with Gizelle Bryant. Angel is overreacting to all situations involving Bobby, and her self-image seems to be shattered, leading her to consider returning to Denver. Angel Massey's behavior on the latest episode of Real Housewives of Potomac is confusing and inconsistent. She struggles to fit in with the group, failing to connect with the other women and often appearing disengaged and uncomfortable. Her attempts to impress Giselle and her delayed reactions to situations make her seem out of place, and her lack of authenticity is evident to the other cast members. If ever, oh ever a witch there was, then it was certainly not Margaret Hamilton, despite her image having gone down in history as perhaps the most recognisable and imitated vision of a witch in history... Her performance as The Wicked Witch Of The West in The Wizard Of Oz occupied just 12 minutes of the film's running time. But, if you thought that Dorothy Gale had a tough time escaping the clutches of the Wicked Witch Of The West, then be assured that Margaret Hamilton's task became all but impossible... Mike has been fascinated with The Wizard of Oz his entire life because of the traumatic experience the cast and crew suffered in the making of the 1939 movie. He shares the things you might not know about the classic film from people being burned, poisoned, forced to smoke cigarettes, slapped in the face and more terrible things. And how the movie was actually a failure when it debuted in theaters but was saved almost 20 years later and became the classic we know it to be today. In the Movie Review, Mike talks about Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 starring Josh Hutcherson. It picks up one year has passed since the supernatural nightmare at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Former security guard Mike has kept the truth from his 11-year-old sister, Abby, concerning the fate of her animatronic friends. Mike crashes out over how bad he thought it was, why it was his worst theater experience of the year and the one redeeming quality of the franchise. In the Trailer Park, Mike blind reacts to Supergirl starring Milly Alcock and coming out on June 26, 2026. It’s about Superman’s 23-year old cousin who has a drinking problem and will serve as the 2nd film in the DC Universe. When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice. Mike talks about what he thinks about the suit, her heat vision and what might be the fate of her dog, Krypto. New Episodes Every Monday! We're wishing stoners young and old out there a joyous Season's Greetings with our BONKERS HOLIDAZE SPECIAL. Philena still hasn't seen WICKED: FOR GOOD but we got more than enough witches and weirdness for her with THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ from 1910, a silent wonder which condenses Dorothy's entire journey into just 13 baffling minutes! What this early (but not first) version of THE WIZARD OF OZ lacks in coherence, it more than makes up for with stoniness. Glinda turns Toto into a strange dog-beast, and the flying monkeys are replaced with a bat-winged frog nightmare! We not only tell you what to smoke with this one but also what to put on your playlist while you enjoy the confusion. THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ is public domain so it's streaming on YouTube, Archive and even TikTok! And speaking of barely coherent, our main feature is SANTA CLAUS, a brain-melting oddity from Mexico in 1959 where Santa Claus and Merlin must stop a pantaloons-clad Devil from wrecking Christmas. If you put this fantasia on at your family holiday gathering instead of LOVE ACTUALLY or whatever the normies watch this time of year, grandma will feel like she's stoned even if she doesn't have a medical marijuana prescription. This psychiatric experiment was directed by René Cardona, who later gave us such gruesome classics as NIGHT OF THE BLOODY APES (1969) and the cannibalism epic SURVIVE! (1976). Another public domain gem, so it's streaming everywhere but the print that's on Tubi is the best. We suggest watching with a crowd, but if the male loneliness epidemic has you down, here's the MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 episode that Cory watched: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTWs3zvz1z4 We also talk about the Netflix merger with Warner Bros (but recorded it before the Ellisons got involved), the short-lived CASABLANCA TV series from the 80s, Greg watching BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS (1980) on his new mammoth 4K TV and ZOOTOPIA 2. Happy New Year's everybody and see you back in February 2026! Last year's Wicked: Part One, despite its shortcomings, was bolstered by infectious energy, powerhouse performances, and bop-worthy songs. Can this year's followup, For Good, pull off the same magic trick again? Once again, our resident Wicked fan faces off with the two laymen of the podcast to review the second half of the hit adaptation.
Dana and David discuss how it's time to bring back Christmas trees before discussing movies - like the history of Avatar, Wicked, and secret stories from the set of The Wizard Of Oz. Then, it's time for an AI themed Buzzing Around segment with some news of Kim Kardashian and the Olsen twins to top it all off. To mark the recent release of the second Wicked film, for this week's episode we're revisiting my 2020 interview with Dee Michel, author of the book Friends of Dorothy: Why Gay Boys and Gay Men Love the Wizard of Oz. Dee's book is an in-depth examination of queer Oz fandom, which for him has its roots in happy memories of watching the movie with his dad. Dee grew up in the 1950s with the threat of the red scare looming over his family — his parents met at a Communist Party meeting, and there was the constant threat that the family would be exposed. Added to the general chaos of the time was the discovery that his father was gay, and Dee's own struggle to find his place in the world. And before we get to that, a quick heads up that I have a new YouTube video coming this weekend about the powerful gay magic behind The Wizard of Oz and Wicked. Check out my videos at youtube.com/mattbaume.
Mandy brings her friend Jodi Tirengel back on the podcast to discuss their adventures at BravoCon last weekend. From the beginning, it was a bravolebrity packed few days, with Giselle and Tia being on their flight. Mandy and Jodi share a play by play of the weekend and discuss their meaningful conversation with Bronwyn, some tea they heard about the Craig/Paige breakup, and a very memorable interaction with Tom Sandoval.Get Dayna Wyland's jewelry: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DaynaWylandJewelryFollow Jodi on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jodigetinsta/Follow Mandy on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mandyslutsker/

Hi, friends! Happy Wednesday! You've seen The Wizard of Oz... the ruby slippers, the Yellow Brick Road, the flying monkeys… But you've also heard rumblings of some dark rumors, haven't you? Well, behind all that glitter and Technicolor magic was a nightmare of toxic makeup, real fires, starvation diets, terror in Munchkinland and a studio system that nearly killed a teenage Judy Garland. In today's episode of Dark History, let's follow the (bloodsoaked?) yellow brick road backstage to uncover the shocking truth behind one of Hollywood's most iconic movies. From the Tin Man's near-death experience to the Witch catching fire on set (literally), to asbestos snow and all sorts of horrible abuse — this is the wicked story of The Wizard of Oz that MGM never wanted you to hear. ________ FOLLOW ME AROUND Tik Tok: https://bit.ly/3e3jL9v Instagram: http://bit.ly/2nbO4PR Facebook: http://bit.ly/2mdZtK6 Twitter: http://bit.ly/2yT4BLV Pinterest: http://bit.ly/2mVpXnY Youtube: http://bit.ly/1HGw3Og Goodreads: http://bit.ly/3IVnO7N Snapchat: https://bit.ly/3cC0V9d Discord: https://discord.gg/BaileySarian RECOMMEND A STORY HERE: cases4bailey@gmail.com Business Related Emails: bailey@underscoretalent.com Business Related Mail: Bailey Sarian 4400 W.
