You woke up, reached for your phone before Fajr. Reels, DMs, crypto charts, news - heart still heavy. You prayed… fast. Parents' WhatsApp is still unread. You posted a Qur'an clip to your story, then checked who viewed it. By Maghrib, you're drained and wondering: why haven't I tasted the fruits of Iman yet? In this talk, Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan delivers a wake-up reminder: what true Iman actually looks like, the fruits Allah promises in the Dunya and the Akhirah, why Shaytan has no authority over those who believe and rely on Allah, how Allah Himself defends the believers, and why ikhlas (sincerity) is the make-or-break behind every deed. He also shares the story of the Three Men in the Cave, and highlights the everyday obedience many of us overlook: Salah on time and Birr al-Walidayn (dutifulness to parents). If you've ever felt your Iman slipping, performed for people instead of Allah, or chased recognition more than repentance, watch this. By the time 2019 rolled around, John Wick was a full fledged franchise. And despite its star being in his 50s, Keanu Reeves was still showing up, and still kicking ass in two previous movies which were massive hits. But Garrett wasn't a huge fan of last week's film. Could John Wick Chapter 3 Parabellum win him back? Join him as well as Matt and Adam on the Three Men and a Retrospective Podcast as they let their thoughts on John Wick 3 be known. Does Halle Barry win them over? How about the desert scenes? And could this be the best of the series so far? All these questions, as well as a lead up to the released earlier this year Ballerina: From The World of John Wick, is all set for you to download and listen to below
It was 160 years ago when President Abraham Lincoln was shot dead in a theatre in Washington DC. However, it took 12 days for this news to arrive in Europe. To say Garrett was hesitant to watch one of his least favorite directors take on his most favorite comic book character in a feature film would be an understatement. But, that's exactly what he did, and here is the result of how he felt after he and his co-hosts finally watched the long awaited reboot of the Superman franchise. Matt and Adam come in with a nonchalant attitude towards the character, but love for at least one of James Gunn's other films. What happens when you mix these two recipes? A two and a half hour podcast that not only reviews the film in detail. But also talks about the podcasters' theatrical experiences, as well as what they were all expecting coming in. Next week, The Three Men and a Retrospective Podcast begins their look at the John Wick franchise! Note: If you'd like to just get to the review, it starts around the 38 minute mark.
This week, Brett and Hannah are back! We talk ninja turtle movies and why Vanilla Ice doesn't have the pass. Then, it's the different types of henchmen, Rob Schneider's big break, Taskmaster tips, and misremembering Three Men and a Baby. Plus, John Stamos' dumb hair, and Zampino's trip to San Francisco!

WAR ENDINGS NEITHER SWIFT NOR MERCIFUL: 7/8 Road to Surrender: Three Men and the Countdown to the End of World War II by Evan Thomas (Author) https://www.amazon.com/Road-Surrender-Three-Countdown-World/dp/0399589252 At 9:20 a.m. on the morning of May 30, General Groves receives a message to report to the office of the secretary of war “at once.” Stimson is waiting for him. He wants to know: has Groves selected the targets yet? So begins this suspenseful, impeccably researched history that draws on new access to diaries to tell the story of three men who were intimately involved with America's decision to drop the atomic bomb—and Japan's decision to surrender. They are Henry Stimson, the American Secretary of War, who had overall responsibility for decisions about the atom bomb; Gen. Carl “Tooey” Spaatz, head of strategic bombing in the Pacific, who supervised the planes that dropped the bombs; and Japanese Foreign Minister Shigenori Togo, the only one in Emperor Hirohito's Supreme War Council who believed even before the bombs were dropped that Japan should surrender. Henry Stimson had served in the administrations of five presidents, but as the U.S. nuclear program progressed, he found himself tasked with the unimaginable decision of determining whether to deploy the bomb. The new president, Harry S. Truman, thus far a peripheral figure in the momentous decision, accepted Stimson's recommendation to drop the bomb. Army Air Force Commander Gen. Spaatz ordered the planes to take off. Like Stimson, Spaatz agonized over the command even as he recognized it would end the war. After the bombs were dropped, Foreign Minister Togo was finally able to convince the emperor to surrender. To bring these critical events to vivid life, bestselling author Evan Thomas draws on the diaries of Stimson, Togo and Spaatz, contemplating the immense weight of their historic decision. In Road to Surrender, an immersive, surprising, moving account, Thomas lays out the behind-the-scenes thoughts, feelings, motivations, and decision-making of three people who changed history.

To say Hulk Hogan had a complicated legacy would be an understatement. On one end, he started a wrestling boom that despite some bumps along the road (which Matt and I are covering on our Tag Team Wrestling Podcast) eventually turned the then WWF into a juggernaut and publicly owned company. However, it was within these beginnings that Hogan helped put a stop to the possibility of a wrestling union being formed. On one end, he made hundreds of wrestlers millions of dollars. On the other, he has been accused of holding guys down and breaking promises to others. And of course, you have his run in WCW, where he once again turned the wrestling world on its head, making it the top company for over 80 weeks. Yet, Hogan also was at the center of a Starrcade screw job that should have been a clean win for Sting, yet another broken program with Bret Hart, and the infamous Finger Poke of Doom. All of this doesn't include his TNA run, and his foray into reality tv. To cover this varied and sometimes controversial career, I turned to a guy who I have spoken about dead wrestlers with in the past. Tubi Tuesday's very own Mike Batchelor (Batch) joins me to mostly talk about what Hulk Hogan the character meant to us as kids, and what we feel his lasting legacy will be. I then end the show talking about how the next few weeks of our main Three Men and a Retrospective Podcast (we still have a new movie about a man in blue and red tights to cover) is going to look like, as well as planned future guests on Percolated Media Presents. Oh, and the very end of the show includes a little tribute to someone else who passed away last week, the one and only Ozzy Osbourne. Very sad week for us generation x'ers, one that we will never forget. Not for what the people were as individuals, but what they did to inspire us through their work. Enjoy, and please come back as we finally put an end to our Ethan Hunt led Mission Impossible coverage!
Can we talk about how great Steve Guttenberg is? He is obviously a terrific actor and has been working longer than I've been alive, but he is also just such a source of positivity— I could have kept talking to him for hours! You of course know Steve Guttenberg from iconic roles like Michael Kellam in Three Men and a Baby, Carey Mahoney in Police Academy or Jack Bonner in Cocoon. Since that time he has really matured into a character actor and he continues to act in TV and movies all the time. We talk about how he has gone about building a career that lasts and how he surrounds himself with grounded, positive people. We also have a moving conversation about his book Time to Thank, in which he writes about his experience being a caregiver for his father toward the end of his life. If you are in need of a pump-up speech or a dose of happy positivity, this is the episode for you! Be sure to stick around after our conversation for the Hindsight where my producer Jeph and I talk about all things Guttenberg, including the absolutely insane story he tells about sneaking onto the Paramount lot when he was a teenager. 2015 was a MASSIVE year for franchises. Jurassic Park was about to get a whole reboot in the form of Jurassic World. James Bond was going to finally bring Blofeld and Spectre back in Spectre. Mad Max put the action genre on its head, coming back after 30 years with Mad Max Fury Road. And of course, Star Wars was finally brought back to the big screen in a big way with The Force Awakens. All of these, by the way, have been or will be reviewed by us at The Three Men and a Retrospective Podcast, so we recommend checking those out in our archives. The Mission Impossible franchise had a huge mountain to climb to stick out in a year where there were so many other things to choose from. But director Chris McQuarrie and company proved to be more than up to the task as Mission Impossible Rogue Nation was released and not only amongst the best received of the series. But it also grossed over $700 million worldwide and is still considered amongst the best in the franchise. Yeah, we'd say they stuck out. Join the gang as they look at the fifth Mission Impossible movie Mission Impossible Rogue Nation, and decide for themselves if it deserves all its praise. Tonight, we return to South Africa to taste two blended red wines. The first is a Shiraz-based blend from the Stellenbosch Region of the Western Cape. The second wine is mostly a Bordeaux Blend of Cabernet-Merlot.These wines basically come from different sides of a mountain. The Shiraz blend comes from the cooler Stellenbosch area. The Franschhoek (FRAHN-SHOOK) wine valley is a French area. Black Elephant focuses on French wine grapes, as does the whole valley. Mountains surround the valley on three sides and is very beautiful. The Dutch were brought in to help reclaim the wet swampy area of Bordeaux, France that bordered the Atlantic Ocean. When large numbers of French left France in the 1600's and 1700's, some chose to come to South Africa and brought grapes with them. This area became a popular place for the French to settle. Tonight, we are enjoying:2019 Thelema Mountain Red. This wine was purchased at Wine Styles for around $18. Aromas of juicy black fruit, mulberries, plums, and hints of warm spice. It spent 18 months in older French barrels. Grown in a cooler climate. The wine has pH of 3.51 and 2.2 g/l residual sugar. 57% Shiraz, 21% Grenache, and 22% Petit Verdot. The wine has 14.0% alcohol. Pairs with pizza or BBQ.2023 Black Elephant Three Men In A Tub With a Rubber Duck Red Wine Blend. This wine was purchased from Wine Styles for around $17. In addition to having a very long name, it has aromas of fresh-picked red berries and vanilla. Medium-body with bright acidity and flavors of cherry, liquorice, and violets. It is a 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and 2% Mourvedre. 13% alcohol. The wine comes from the Franschhoek Valley region. We gave both wines a 3 rating. I believe the Thelema could have improved with some additional aging as it was still rather bright. The Three Men in a Tub, I was close to a 2 and believe you can find a similar wine for at a cheaper price.Next week we will taste a single varietal Monastrell from Spain.

In 1987, Arnold Schwarzenegger was well on his way to becoming the biggest action star in the world. Later on in the year, he would be in Predator. But first, he'd star in the Stephen King adaptation The Running Man. Or is it a Richard Bachman adaptation? What's the difference, and why would the rights to this book be $100,000, surprising the hell out of producer George Linder? We get into all of this, as well as a full review of the Paul Michael Glaser (Starsky?) directed film, in the podcast below. Also, find out what franchise we'll be attacking next. That is, should we choose to accept it. All this, as well as many puns, when you listen to this week's Three Men and a Retrospective Podcast!
