Welcome to the Calvary Church Podcast!

What do you do when your soul is running on empty? Psalm 42-43 shows us that God welcomes our honest prayers, even when they are filled with questions, grief, and tears. In this message, we'll discover how biblical lament helps us bring our hurts to God and why our ultimate hope is found in Jesus, who entered our suffering so that we would never face it alone.

Fear is something we all face. Whether it's anxiety, insecurity, depression, uncertainty, or something else, the question is: What do you do with your fear? Do you try to ignore it, face it in your own strength, or bring it to Jesus? Looking at Psalm 56:3, "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you," we see why David knew could trust God. God saw him, knew him intimately, rescued him, and faithfully led every step of his life. Because of who he is, we can trust Jesus in the hard times, the waiting, and everything in between. No matter what, we can trust Jesus.

Psalm 32 traces the journey from silence to confession, and from burden to joy. Snapshot of Repentance invites you to stop hiding, face guilt honestly, and receive the grace that truly frees – because the blessed life is found not in managing guilt, but in having your sin covered in Christ.

Psalm 2 gives us a powerful snapshot of our world: human rebellion, God's sovereign rule, and the reign of his King. But this isn't just about “them” – it's about us. In this message, we explore our four series key questions that help us see the text clearly and ultimately lead us to Jesus – the King we resist, yet the refuge we're invited to trust. Take time to watch or rewatch and be reminded: God is not anxious, his purposes stand, and “blessed are all who take refuge in him.” (Psalm 2:12)

In this message, we explore Psalm 34 and discover how David experienced the goodness of God in the middle of fear, uncertainty, and suffering. God's goodness is not found in a life without trouble, but in the presence, faithfulness, and redemption we find in Jesus. What we deeply long for can only be found in Jesus. Join us as we learn to praise God, remember his faithfulness, trust his promises, and rest in his redemption.

Where is your life heading and what is shaping you along the way? In this opening message of Snapshots: The Psalms, we explore Psalm 1 and Psalm 150 – the beginning and the end of the journey. You'll see the two paths before us, the reality of life in between, and the surprising truth at the center: we don't just need a better path – we need a Savior. Take a few minutes to watch. It might reframe how you see your life, your struggles, and your ultimate joy.

After exploring life's greatest pursuits, Ecclesiastes arrives at its final conclusion: there is more than life under the sun because there is a Shepherd over the sun. In this message, we discover that Jesus is the True Shepherd who speaks wisdom, calls us to a life that matters, and promises a judgment that will ultimately set everything right. The answer to meaninglessness is not more success, pleasure, or control; it is trusting and following the Shepherd. Join us as we conclude our journey through Ecclesiastes and answer the question: "Is there more?"

We all long for life to be easier, clearer, and more predictable. Yet some of God's deepest work happens in the difficult seasons we would rather avoid. In Ecclesiastes 7, Steve Sauers shows how wisdom is formed when we stop running from reality, learn to trust God in the waiting, and surrender our desire for control. Life is hard, God is sovereign, and we are not in control. The question is: where might God be inviting you to grow in wisdom through difficulty?

If you've ever wondered why success doesn't satisfy, or why enough never feels like enough, this sermon invites you to see money, work, and life through the lens of the gospel - and discover the "more" you were actually made for. Watch now and reconsider what you're really living for. What does true worship actually look like? In Ecclesiastes 5:1-7, the teacher warns against empty religion and calls us to approach God with reverence, humility, and integrity. Worship is not about performance, routine, or religious appearances; it begins with listening to God, speaking carefully before him, and living with wholehearted obedience. Ultimately, this passage points us to Jesus, the true worshiper, who brings sinful people near to a holy God. Submit a Prayer Request: https://www.calvary-church.com/prayer New to Calvary? This message from Ecclesiastes 3:16-4:12 wrestles honestly with the reality that life under the sun often feels unfair. From injustice and suffering to comparison, envy, and isolation, Ecclesiastes exposes the brokenness of both our world and our hearts. Yet the story does not end in despair. Jesus entered into our brokenness, experienced injustice himself, and through his resurrection, offers hope, contentment, and a kingdom that will never fade. If you have ever asked, “Why is life so unfair?” this message is for you. Submit a Prayer Request: https://www.calvary-church.com/prayer New to Calvary? Life doesn't move in straight lines – but in seasons. Some we choose, others we wouldn't. Ecclesiastes 3 names them with honesty, yet points us beyond them. What if the meaning we're searching for isn't found in controlling our seasons, but in trusting the One who designs them and stands over them? In Jesus, God entered time itself, bringing purpose to today and hope for what's ahead. Look up & Look ahead! Whatever season you're in, there is more. Watch the full message. Why does work – labor and toil – so often leave us feeling empty? Ecclesiastes offers a surprisingly honest answer. Work is a gift but it was never meant to be your identity. In this message from Ecclesiastes, we see both the beauty and the burden of work and how the gospel frees us from striving for meaning and invites us to receive it. We all live with a blank in our lives: “If I only had ________, I'd be happy.” In Ecclesiastes 2:1-11, we see a powerful experiment where every pleasure, possession, and achievement is pursued; yet none of it satisfies. This message explores why what we put in God's place will always fall short, and how true joy isn't something we achieve, but something we receive from him. What if the greatest “ending” in history was actually a beginning? In this message from Luke 24, we explore how the resurrection of Jesus wasn't expected, wasn't symbolic, and wasn't just inspiring; it was real. Because Jesus rose from the dead, he proved his promises, defeated death, and offers a living hope to all who trust him. The question isn't just what you believe about the resurrection, it's how you will respond to the risen Jesus.

Are you in a season where life hurts and just feels heavy? Hebrews 12 reminds us that God is not wasting our struggles. He is a wise Trainer, a restoring Physician, and a loving Father – using even pain to strengthen, heal, and grow us. Your struggles may not be punishment, but proof of God's love. This message will help you trust God's heart when life hurts.

Hebrews 12:1–3 reminds us that the Christian life is a race that requires endurance. To run well, we are called to lay aside the sins and distractions that weigh us down and keep us from moving forward in faith. But the strength to keep going does not come from ourselves. It comes from fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who has already gone before us. When we grow weary or discouraged, we look to his suffering and his victory, drawing strength from him so that we do not lose heart.

Hebrews 11 is often called the “Hall of Faith,” but its real purpose is to point us to the greatness of Jesus. In this message, we see that faith is not about trying harder but about living today in light of the future Jesus has already secured. The examples in Hebrews show ordinary people trusting God's promises and acting before the results appeared. Because Jesus has finished the work of redemption and guarantees our future, we can live with courage, obedience, and hope today.

What if the rituals, festivals, practices and observances of the Old Testament were never the destination, but a shadow pointing to something greater? In Hebrews 9–10, we saw that what generations of sacrifices could only symbolize, Jesus accomplished once and for all. The standing priest has been replaced by the seated Savior, and through his finished work we are invited to draw near to God with confidence, clean consciences, and real hope. If you've ever wondered whether you've done enough, or if peace with God is truly possible, this message shows why Jesus really is better. Watch the sermon and rediscover the freedom of a finished salvation.

In Hebrews 7, we explore how the mysterious Old Testament figure Melchizedek points forward to a better and lasting priesthood. This message shows why the old system could guide worship but never fully secure access to God and why a new kind of priest was always promised. Jesus fulfills that promise as the Priest-King whose indestructible life guarantees permanent mediation and a better covenant. Because of him, our standing with God no longer depends on our performance but on his finished and forever work, giving us lasting confidence to draw near. Life can feel unsteady. Sometimes it's suffering. Sometimes it's disappointment when God doesn't move on our timeline. Sometimes it's just the long, quiet waiting. In this message, we're reminded that God's promises are grounded in His unchanging character. He cannot lie. His purposes do not shift. And through Jesus, our forerunner and great High Priest, we have an anchor for our souls that is firm and secure. When the storms come, the question becomes: what are you anchored to? If you've ever felt accused, overwhelmed, or unsure where you stand, this message is for you. In this message from Hebrews, Charles Zimmerman reminds us that the Bible often teaches through pictures, not just principles. Jesus is our ultimate advocate. Like a priest in the temple or an attorney in the courtroom, he stands in our place, speaks on our behalf, and pays a debt we could never repay. Fully human, perfectly righteous, and eternally present, Jesus isn't just who we needed in the past—he's still advocating for us today. If you feel tired but can't slow down, busy but not at peace, this message is for you. In Rest and Reorient, Charles Zimmerman walks through Hebrews 3–4 and helps us name why we're often restless on the inside even when we stop on the outside. This message invites you to step out of the frantic pace, wrestle honestly with what you're trusting, and learn how real rest comes from letting God shape the story you're living. In Hebrews 3:1-6, we're reminded that because Jesus is the faithful Son over God's house, we must fix our eyes on him and hold fast in persevering faith. Writing to believers tempted to drift back to old loyalties, the author calls us to remember who we are in Christ and to carefully consider who Jesus is: the Apostle sent from God and the High Priest who brings us to God. Persevering faith doesn't rest in our effort or consistency, but in continually looking to and trusting in Jesus, our unfailing hope. When life feels unsettled and out of control, Fix your eyes on Jesus in Hebrews 2! Life doesn't always look the way it should. Fear lingers. Discouragement creeps in. And we wonder if God loves us, why is life still so hard? In Hebrews 2, we are reminded that while we don't yet see everything under control, we do see Jesus – the King who comes near and leads us, the Brother who accepts us and calls us family and the Champion who fights for us. This message invites us to see Jesus not as distant or detached, but as the one who entered our suffering, defeated death, and leads us into hope. Hebrews opens with a bold declaration: Jesus is better. In this message from Hebrews 1, we fix our eyes on who Jesus truly is. Jesus is God's final Word, the radiance of his glory, the Creator and Sustainer of all things, and the reigning King who has finished the work of our redemption. When life is hard and we're tempted to drift toward safer or familiar substitutes, Hebrews calls us back to clarity, not effort. There is no one and nothing better than Jesus. What God has done for us begins with grace, not effort. He stepped toward us first, made us new in Christ, and changed us from the inside out. That grace doesn't just restore us, it reshapes how we live, how we see people, and why we share hope. As we move into 2026, Calvary on Mission is a reminder that a church shaped by grace naturally becomes a church on mission. We don't share Christ to earn God's love. We share Christ because we are loved. Fueled by grace, the church is called to carry the gospel into everyday relationships, trusting that God is already at work both around the corner and around the world. Christmas is not just about celebrating a birth, it's about responding to a King. In Matthew 2, we see three very different reactions to Jesus: Herod's fear, the religious leaders' indifference, and the Magi's worship. This message explores how Jesus, the True King, confronts our rival loyalties, draws unlikely worshipers, and establishes a kingdom that reaches the nations. The question remains: what is your response to the King? Christmas isn't just a tradition we repeat; it's a moment that interrupts real life. In Luke 2, God sends angels to shepherds, not kings or religious leaders, to show us that this good news is for everyone. Jesus comes as Savior because we need rescue, and as King because we're not meant to run life on our own. When we receive him, Christmas changes us, bringing peace with God, joy that isn't based on circumstances, and a calling to share the good news with others.
