One of my favourites Griffin Dunne, part of timeless vintage Tinseltown his entire life, brought up within a famous family of writers, performers and surrounded by classic talent of all eras. I hope you enjoy our in depth discussion. As an actor I saw him repeatedly in memorable films in the VHS days and beyond.Author of THE FRIDAY AFTERNOON CLUB A Family Memoir, recalling love, laughter and tragic loss of a beloved sister / daughter, a story so sad but also full of life as told by a loving Griffin. Scattered with anecdotes and observations, this eye opening heavy hearted book is compulsive reading.GRIFFIN DUNNE a wonderful actor, you may remember him in AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (1981) AFTER HOURS (1985) CAUGHT STEALING (2025) WHO'S THAT GIRL (1987) SEARCH AND DESTROY (2005) MY DEAD BOYFRIEND (2016) He's appeared on TV in ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING, GIRLS, THIS IS US, also a producer of ONCE AROUND (1991) RUNNING ON EMPTY (1988) GAME 6 (2005)https://youtube.com/@movieanalystshaneadambassett?si=nZyw5fHIS4t_KgXj

The Vampire Lestat has been asleep for many many years... until he finally hears something that excites him out of his slumber: nü metal! In the very 2002-core film QUEEN OF THE DAMNED we follow Lestat (almost-Aragorn Stuart Townsend) on his journey to become the world's most beloved vampire rock star. Will the titular Queen of the Damned (RIP Aaliyah) seduce him or will the uhhh council of vampires stop her I don't remember what happens exactly it's pretty bad but lots of fun for connoisseurs of that 2000s feeling. We also talk about some other films we've seen lately such as WR: MYSTERIES OF THE ORGANISM, TELL THEM WILLIE BOY IS HERE, SNEAKERS, THE WAY WE WERE, SUMMER WITH MONIKA, SAWDUST AND TINSEL, THE RAPTURE, WARRIORS OF VIRTUE, MARTY, RUNNING ON EMPTY, and the recent Pee-Wee doc and the original Smashing Machine doc.Next week we're playing fetch with vampire's mortal enemies: werewolves! First up is the horror-comedy classic AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON directed by King of the Damned (as in Going to Hell) John Landis!Follow us @thefranchisees on Instagram and Twitter and email us at thefranchiseespod@gmail.com
When life leaves you empty-handed, it's easy to feel forgotten. In 2 Kings 4, a desperate widow believes she has nothing left but a little oil. Yet when she brings what she has to God, He multiplies it until every jar in the house is filled. Her emptiness becomes the starting point for God's overflow. This passage reminds us that scarcity is never the end of the story. When we trust God with what little remains, He meets us in our weakness, fills our emptiness, and turns lack into abundance. He doesn't need much—just a willing heart and an open vessel. If you're ready to take the next step in your faith or want to learn more about Liberty, click here: https://libertylive.church/connect/
The Agony Aunties tackle a listener's question about managing the stress of a full-time job, parenting two young children, and caring for an ageing parent. They discuss the importance of self-compassion, prioritisation, and setting boundaries without feeling selfish. They suggest considering personal limits and adopting the concept of 'essential maintenance' instead of 'self-care'. Additionally, they emphasise the importance of repairing moments of irritability with children and collaborating with partners to manage household tasks. The episode also references resources such as the 'Motherkind Podcast' and the 'Fair Play' book by Eve Rodsky for better task distribution. Paul Thomas Anderson's ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER is a very different film in form and function than the other half of this pairing, RUNNING ON EMPTY, but it's built on the same foundational questions as Sidney Lumet's 1988 family drama: what does it mean to lead a revolutionary life, and how does one generation's fight get handed off to the next? After talking through how ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER engages with those questions, as well as its more action-movie-oriented thrills (and hills), we bring in RUNNING ON EMPTY to compare how the two films depict coming of age while on the run from the feds, and parents attempting to safeguard their children from an unknown future. Then in Your Next Picture Show, we discuss some of the other films Anderson chose, alongside RUNNING ON EMPTY, for a recent TCM guest-programming selection inspired by ONE BATTLE. Send Cathy a text:)Have you ever felt your energy, patience, and compassion draining away while caring for a loved one? When was the last time you stopped to check what's left in your own cup?Welcome to Season 1 of The Caregiver Cup Podcast. This season is all about you—your self-discovery, the many roles you juggle, and your personal health as a caregiver. The statistics are sobering: nearly 41% of caregivers report low overall well-being, and only 23% say their mental health is good. Behind those numbers are real people—like you and me—trying to care for others while holding onto ourselves. In today's episode, I'm sharing my own story of walking through my husband's bone marrow transplant and what it taught me about my “cup.” After 57 days away from home navigating hospital stays and medical crises, my cup was bone dry. Rebuilding wasn't instant—it felt like climbing a steep hill when I had no energy left. But it reminded me of something powerful: when we learn to pause and honestly check our cup, we give ourselves the chance to rebound, recharge, and find joy again. This isn't about perfect caregiving. It's about finding your rhythm and your way of refilling, protecting, and strengthening your caregiver cup. Join me every Tuesday through December for Season 1 as we walk this journey together—because when you show up as your best self, you become a stronger caregiver, a better advocate, and a healthier you.Support the show

Paul Thomas Anderson himself cited 1988's RUNNING ON EMPTY as a direct influence on the new ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER, and it's not difficult to see the rhymes between these two films about former revolutionaries trying to protect their kids from the consequences of their parents' past. We'll get into those rhymes more next week, but first we devote some time to Sidney Lumet's 1988 film, which is less cat-and-mouse chase than coming-of-age family drama, anchored by a remarkable River Phoenix as the teenage son of former anti-war protesters on the run from the law. Unlike with PTA's film, there are no real bad guys in RUNNING ON EMPTY, only problems to negotiate within a rich family dynamic that is both delightful in its specificity and heartbreaking in its fragility. After that, we field some Feedback from listeners about our recent episodes on HIGHEST 2 LOWEST and THEY SHOOT HORSES, DON'T THEY? Isn't it fascinating that we can work so hard and do all of the things, yet still feel a lack of fulfillment? And when we do have those moments of fulfillment, we often credit it to hustling and overachieving, when that's not actually where it's coming from. Your next level of success is not going to come from pushing harder or spreading yourself more thin; it is going to come as you can slow down and hold still long enough for your brilliance to begin to shine.Today, we are talking about a topic very close to my heart: wholeness over hustle–and how finding balance in life allows you to heal from burnout. This theme has been woven throughout this podcast over the years, but I wanted to explore it exclusively today for one very special reason. The book I have co-authored with 12 of my Master Coaches, She Rises: Insights and Wisdom from the Women of the Masterful Coach Collective, is coming out this month, and my chapter is all about why prioritizing wholeness over hustle needs to be the new standard for high-achieving women who want to actually create the life they desire. For too long, hustle culture has conditioned us to believe that we must constantly do more. Not only are we supposed to work harder when it comes to business and finances, but in our personal lives as well. There is pressure—especially for women—to be the glue holding everything together. This is not sustainable, and it's ultimately causing unbelievably high levels of stress in more of us every day. If you are a high achiever and you're ready to feel at peace, deeply alive, and actually fulfilled, instead of like you're always running on empty, this episode is truly for you. When you intentionally make space in your life for more downtime and fewer things on your to-do list, not only will you be able to achieve more, but you will connect more in relationships and live the fullest, richest life possible. Truly mastering yourself, your life, and your emotions comes when you know your worth beyond the confines of hustle culture and can cultivate the stillness necessary for real success. I've witnessed the power of this magical secret to personal fulfillment firsthand, and I'm passionate about teaching each of you to achieve it too. Let's do it!What you'll learn:How my chapter of She Rises provides specific evidence of how slowing down is a strategy for successWhy you can break the pattern of overachieving when you value yourself moreWhat over-responsibility means and a surprising statistic about how it impacts womenHow to begin to know your worth outside of hustle cultureWhy inspiration and creativity can't flourish when you are overwhelmed by trying to prove yourselfYou can read the full show notes here.Connect with Molly ClaireThe new book, She Rises: Insights and Wisdom from the Women of the Masterful Coach Collective, is coming soon! Why Autoimmune Burnout Hits Harder, And What to Do About It Burnout isn't just about long hours and too much coffee. When you live with an autoimmune condition, burnout is deeper, more advanced, and more relentless. Think of it as burnout on steroids, an emotional rollercoaster of symptoms, endless appointments, a diagnosis that's both a relief and a life sentence, and fatigue so bone-deep it's invisible to everyone but you. Description: In this first episode of the Running on Empty series, Dr. Alison breaks down why autoimmune burnout is different, and why it leaves you more exhausted, more frustrated, and more misunderstood than “regular” burnout. Here's what you'll discover inside this episode: Why autoimmune burnout is more advanced: from the exhausting path to diagnosis, to the emotional weight of “no cure,” to the invisible fatigue no one else seems to understand. The science behind it: how burnout impacts your brain, nervous system, hormones, and inflammation — and why it can amplify flares and symptoms. The truth about testing: why there's no single burnout biomarker, and why cortisol panels won't tell you what you already feel in your body. What doesn't work: quick-fix detoxes, supplement stacks, or trying to “push through.” What actually helps: research-backed strategies, from sleep and movement to mindset, gratitude, and nervous system regulation, that rebuild resilience step by step. ✨ Most importantly, you'll walk away knowing this: burnout isn't permanent. With the right strategies, you can recover, rebuild, and reclaim your energy. --------------------------------------------------------------- Resources & Links: Ready to go deeper? In this episode of the Dream It, Do It Podcast, I'm joined by Janelle Walter, former High Performance client, a senior marketing director, corporate leader, and mom of three, who opens up about what it really looks like to shift from scattered and stretched thin… to grounded and fulfilled. Janelle shares so vulnerably about the turning point that led her to reach out for coaching—when she realized her day-to-day pace wasn't sustainable and she was constantly running on fumes. We talk about the small, intentional shifts that helped her reclaim her energy, get back in the driver's seat of her calendar, and start showing up more fully in both her career and her family life. From setting better boundaries at work, to building in space for strategic thinking (instead of constantly reacting), to redefining what "success" looks like as a mom and a leader—Janelle shares so many gems that will resonate if you've ever felt pulled in a million directions. We also talk about: Letting go of perfectionism and softening into your season How community and coaching helped her get unstuck What it looks like to lead from a place of peace, not pressure The very real case for the 4-day work week

Do you ever feel like no matter how hard you try to manage your time, you're still running on empty? The to-do list grows, the kids need you, work demands pull you in all directions, and you're left wondering if you'll ever have enough time to breathe. In this episode, I share my personal journey of how my perspective on time shifted drastically after becoming a solo parent / single parent when my husband went to Heaven. Suddenly, raising three active kids, being the sole breadwinner, and navigating grief all collided—and I realized my relationship with time needed to change. We'll explore biblical time management—because most “time problems” aren't really about calendars or planners, they're heart issues. Together, we'll look at what God's Word says about redeeming our days, finding rest, and making space for what matters most. You'll walk away with: Heart questions to uncover what's really driving your schedule Practical time management tips rooted in Scripture Encouragement to let go of perfection and walk in God's timing A reminder that He's given you enough time for what He's called you to do If you're an exhausted mom—whether you're working, solo parenting, or just trying to keep up with daily life—this conversation will help you release the pressure, find peace, and step into rhythms that honor both God and your season. Have you ever looked at your business and thought, “Something feels… off” but you can't quite name what it is? Sometimes, the culprit isn't a broken strategy, a bad market, or lack of skills. It's something far more personal: burnout. In this raw and unfiltered episode, I'm pulling back the curtain on how running on empty can quietly sabotage your decision-making, dim your passion, and blur the vision that once felt crystal clear. This isn't a lecture on hustle culture or toxic productivity. This is a conversation about pressing pause, reconnecting with your original purpose, and finding the energy to lead your business with clarity again. If you've been feeling drained, disconnected, or directionless, this episode might just be the reset you need.

MALITTA SEAMON is the author of “Mindset Freedom: Seven Steps to Unlock Your Power In Life, Love, and Leadership”, a business strategist, coach, author, speaker, and trusted adviser to CEOs, C-suite executives and leaders. She co-founded Inbound Leadership to help unlock untapped potential for greater impact by fostering safe spaces for leaders to reflect, be vulnerable, a=]d grow—her true passion. Malitta says,“When women feel drained at work or at home, we often blame ourselves for taking on too much or not finding “balance.” But what if the real reason we're running on empty is that we're constantly contorting ourselves—shrinking, bending, over-accommodating, and over-delivering to meet other people's expectations?” For years, that's exactly what Malitta did. While building an eight-figure business with her husband, Brad Seamon, and raising a family, she continually adjusted and overperformed to meet roles and standards defined by others. Until the cost of contortion became too high. The business hit a breaking point—and so did her marriage. In the fallout, Malitta finally asked herself a question too many high-achieving women avoid: What would it look like to lead without apology—and live without shape-shifting? We talk about: Why women feel pressure to contort—trying to “make it work” at their own expense. The subtle but powerful signs that you're bending too far. The real cost of chronic self-adjustment—emotionally, professionally, and relationally. Why chasing “balance” keeps us stuck—and what to pursue instead. How to stop the cycle of self-betrayal and start leading with clarity, courage, and authenticity.
