From IBM and Microsoft to serving as Chief Business Officer at Google X, Mo Gawdat has spent over three decades at the forefront of technology and innovation. Today, the bestselling author turns his engineer's mind toward life's biggest question: how can we live well and meaningfully in an age defined by artificial intelligence? This monumental 2.5 hour episode, which Mo Islam called “the best I've ever shot”, is a journey through life, loss, and the future of humanity.Mo Gawdat opens up about his late son Ali and the lessons that inspired ‘Solve for Happy', before diving into the decade of disruption ahead: from the rise of AI and autonomous weapons to universal basic income and the impending economic reset. Together, the two Mo's explore why Arabs are so misunderstood in the West, how ethical AI must be grounded in love and empathy, and how the Middle East can lead the next wave of innovation. They challenge the failures of modern education, the grip of the military-industrial complex, and even the mysteries of the space-time continuum, all while searching for meaning in what Mo calls the “legendary level” of modern life. What if the real danger isn't what's done to us, but what we allow to take root within us? In this courageous and countercultural episode, Michelle explores what it means to love and release those who hurt us, not to excuse their actions, but to protect our peace and preserve our humanity. Drawing on the wisdom of a prisoner of war's words, sheunpacks how hatred can become its own kind of prison and how love, integrity, and sovereignty can set us free. You'll hear:
If there's a God, then why are there natural disasters and diseases? Dr Sharon Dirckx tackles these challenging questions.
Life doesn't always go the way we plan — dreams fade, plans twist, and sometimes what we thought was progress turns out to be loss. In Ecclesiastes 7, Solomon turns from despair to wisdom, showing us that there's a better way to live in a fallen world. In this message, Pastor Darrell Underwood explores how God uses sorrow, correction, and limits to teach us what success and wisdom really look like. You'll discover: • Why the “house of mourning” is a better teacher than the “house of feasting.” • How to avoid the twin traps of self-righteousness and reckless living. • What it means to walk humbly in the fear of God when life doesn't make sense. With real-life stories like “The Pink Slip Providence,” this episode reminds us that even our hardest days can become classrooms of divine wisdom. The better way isn't the easiest — it's the one that leads us closer to the heart of God.
In this What We Believe message, Pastor Woody Morwood explores God's creation, the Fall, and the hope of redemption. We unpack Genesis 1–3 to understand God's original design for life, relationships, and purpose—and how sin brought brokenness, fear, and separation.Through the story of Adam and Eve and the trials of Job, Pastor Woody shows how God's sovereignty and grace guide us through suffering, offering a path to restoration. Scripture from Isaiah, Psalms, 2 Corinthians, and Revelation 21 reveals God's plan to make all things new through Jesus Christ.Discover how God is at work in your life, your relationships, and the world—even in the midst of chaos—and find hope in His redemptive powerKey Scripture References:Genesis 1–3 – Creation, humanity in God's image, and the FallRomans 8:22 – Creation groaning under sinJob 38–42 – God's sovereignty amidst sufferingPsalm 51:10 – God creates a pure heartIsaiah 53:4-6 – The suffering servant redeems humanity2 Corinthians 5:17-19 – New creation in ChristRevelation 21:1-5 – God making all things newNehemiah 9:6; Hebrews 1:3 – God sustains creationAdditional Resources:Video: Where Were You? – Ghost Ship - https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=YIS0av9fUUUPhilip Yancey, Where Is God When It Hurts?Walter Brueggemann, Genesis: Interpretation CommentaryDon Thorson, An Exploration of Christian TheologyVisual artwork inspired by Isaiah 53 by a studentFor the full gathering of this message which includes worship, visit our Youtube channel. In this powerful message from Pastor Stephen, we dive into what it truly means to love—beyond just feelings or comfort. We explore the radical, transformational love that God calls us to: loving God with all our heart, loving each other sacrificially, and loving the “other,” even our enemies. Discover how Jesus' love on the cross sets the example for us to forgive, serve, and speak truth in love, even when it's hard. Whether you're seeking, struggling, or simply curious, this sermon invites you to experience God's unending love and be part of a community that reflects it daily. Join us as we learn to love like Jesus and impact our world with grace and hope. Listen and be encouraged to love God, love each other, and love the other because Christ first loved us.
The Kingdom for You: Hearing God's Voice and Partnering in the Battle In this episode of the Exploring More Podcast, Michael Thompson and SJ Jennings explore the profound reality that the Kingdom of God isn't just coming—it's for you. Picking up the thread from previous episodes on the map of darkness and light, they discuss how Jesus didn't just defeat the enemy—He invites us to join Him in bringing the Kingdom to earth. From stories like The Chronicles of Narnia and 50 First Dates, to biblical truths and personal experience, Michael and SJ unpack what it means to recognize God's voice, partner with the Holy Spirit, and live as image bearers of light in a world still shadowed by darkness. They emphasize that hearing from God isn't a spiritual elite experience—it's part of our design. With tools like the Pause app and YouVersion devotionals, they offer practical ways to slow down, be still, and listen deeply. This episode is a call to engage: to practice stillness, recognize the King's voice, and live as an agent of redemption in the Story we've been invited into. We hope you enjoy this episode and invite you to connect with us!
My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is JF Monroe, author of the book The Legendary Guardians: Reunions. When reality isn't enough, you build your universe. That's precisely what J.F. Monroe did with the Legacy of the Four trilogy, creating a world where ancient powers walk among us and destiny can be rewritten by the courage of the human heart. A lifelong devotee of fantasy fiction, Monroe crafts stories that blend epic adventure with deeply personal journeys. Her writing draws inspiration from the character-driven narratives of "The Lord of the Rings" and "Harry Potter," the high stakes of "The Hunger Games," and the intricate plotting of Christopher Nolan's films. These influences combine in her work to create stories where even the most extraordinary characters feel remarkably real. At the heart of Monroe's storytelling philosophy lies a simple truth: the most powerful magic comes from human connection. Her characters—whether they're vessels for ancient powers or loyal companions with four legs—face struggles that resonate with readers long after they turn the last page. She crafts protagonists who aren't just extraordinary in their abilities but also in their capacity for growth, love, and sacrifice. When not weaving tales of legendary guardians and supernatural realms, Monroe can be found immersed in the stories that fuel her imagination—curled up with a good book and a steaming cup of coffee, embarking on movie marathons, or exploring virtual worlds through video games. These moments of escape and adventure inspire new stories and new worlds for readers to discover. In my book review, I stated The Legendary Guardians: Reunions is a fantasy. I enjoyed the storyline and would have given it more stars if it weren't for the multitude of gratuitous explicit scenes. If you don't mind spice or are willing to skip the scenes, you'll find the story has a lot of depth. We learn early on that the human race is being held together by a treaty that keeps demons, angels, and the seven deadly sins in check. The enforcers of the treaty are the four horsemen. However, the horsemen have to choose human hosts during an event called the crucible. Both Shade and Theo, teenagers in love, are chosen to participate in the crucible - and Theo is chosen as a horseman, tearing the young lovers brutally apart. Several years go by, but Shade can't move on with her life. Then, strange things begin to happen - things that suggest the treaty is no longer in effect. What will this mean for Shade? For Theo? For the world? This book is fast-paced and leaves you wanting the next installment. Content note: There are some rather detailed sex scenes. I chose to skip them and doing so did not change the book's narrative. Even thinking about engaging in a conversation with kids about sexuality can feel scary, but Laurie and Matt Krieg have a heart to help parents approach the topic without fear. The Kriegs join Jackie and Preston to discuss moving beyond the shame-filled messages of purity culture – what was a “theology of no” – instead to a theology of goodness and flourishing. They talk about being your child's “anchoring bias” – the first voice a child hears on these topics – and why it's so important to respond like Jesus when your child is exposed to something online or confesses. Laurie and Matt also share about a new video series called “Raising Kids,” created with other thought leaders including Jon Tyson, John Mark Comer, Preston Sprinkle, and the Perrys, among many others. This 8-part video series is designed for parents of kids 12 and under, covering topics such as porn prevention, body safety, gender, and belonging. https://courses.christian-sexuality.com/courses/raising-kids Check out Laurie and Matt's upcoming book, Raising Wise Kids in a Sexually Broken World: A Gospel-Centered Approach, releasing January 2026: https://www.amazon.com/Raising-Wise-Sexually-Broken-World/dp/1514012146Scripture references:Psalm 88:1-5 This Episode is Sponsored By:https://magicspoon.com/PERRY — Get $5 off your next order!https://policygenius.com/perry — Compare free life insurance quotes from top companies and see how much you could save. On "Hot Takes" this week, Crystal Eternal and YUNG SHIRO 白 had a sit-down with influential artist, label owner, and scene builder Brickmason! Friendly, inviting, and bursting with well-tempered takes, we invited Brick to the show to get behind the curtain of not only his own project but his record label and IRL and URL show throwing experiences. Brickmason has been making music far longer than he cares to admit and has enjoyed a noteworthy degree of acclaim for his three part 2023 vaporwave album series "Pokédreams". Not only did he corner the hushwave subset of the vaporwave scene, but his label Hushtones has released several must-hear barber beats, slushwave, vaporbreaks, and vaportrap releases as well. For episode eighty-five, we discussed the working class background behind Brickmason's project name. Brick imparted his thoughts on releasing art by questionable artists, working with visualists like Solodolo84 and the whole WVSQD team, and acts that he likes a lot, like Bentoboy, Mabisyo, and Victory Over Death. Hearing Brickmason tell the stories behind the Beats for a Broken World livestream event with Cassette Cache and Doki Doki Beats was a highlight! Sharing our love of his recent hard copy VHS release of Dreamcastle's "LEGO Castle: 1979-1998" and hearing the story of seeing the album release live was a meaningful moment that also was not to be missed. Don't miss this fun and family-friendly episode with our friend Brickmason! "Hot Takes" is a safe space for all opinions! Join the conversation at https://linktr.ee/hottakesvapor

What do you do when you know God is good but your heart still feels like it's slipping? In Psalm 73, Asaph wrestled with envy, doubt, and a bitter heart in the middle of a broken world. His honesty gives us hope—because “almost gone” isn't all the way gone. In this message, A Broken World […]
This week, in two vastly different conversations, the same question came up: Why bother? Whether it's the weight of repeated failure or the heartbreak of a world that feels broken, it's easy to wonder what the point is. In today's episode, I'm sharing two real-life moments — one rooted in personal frustration, and another in the aftermath of a community tragedy — that both led to this question… and the truth I believe we need to hold onto: Your health matters. Not for the number on the scale. Not for appearances. But because healthy people create healthy communities. We need physically, mentally, and spiritually well individuals now more than ever — in homes, schools, workplaces, and online spaces. If you're feeling powerless to change what's happening around you, this episode is for you. You have a part to play — and your health equips you to play it well.
It's no secret that masculinity is under assault, but it's not just “toxic masculinity.” Society itself is increasingly treating boys like defective girls. In the wake of Charlie Kirk's tragic death, Fr. Meyer reflects on his witness to truth and courage in a world filled with confusion and violence. Like John the Baptist and the martyrs before him, Charlie spoke boldly about life, marriage, and the dignity of every human person — and he paid the ultimate price. This homily calls us as Catholics to engage the world not with silence or fear, but with love rooted in truth, compassion, and conviction. We are reminded of Jesus' words: “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you” (Luke 6:27–28).
We reflected on God's impartiality from Romans and the call to offer our lives as living sacrifices. Through scripture and testimonies, we explored how faith transforms our thinking, how mercy and love are lived out in daily practice, and how God's Word anchors us even when faced with tragedy in the world. We were reminded that suffering, loss, and hardship are not meaningless but are opportunities for prayer, unity, and deeper reliance on God's unchanging presence.Themes:God shows no partiality, reminding us of His unchanging nature (Romans 2:11)Living as a holy offering through renewed minds, avoiding conformity to the world (Romans 12:1–8)Using our unique gifts in the body of Christ for the good of allPracticing mercy, cheerfulness, hospitality, and brotherly love while avoiding vengeanceOvercoming evil with good through patience, prayer, and unityTragic events in the world reveal the depth of human brokenness and the need for prayerGod's Word brings peace and guidance in decisions and personal strugglesPrayer and fellowship strengthen us in times of trial and remind us of God's presenceScripture References: Romans 2:11; Romans 12:1–8

While we often look to the past for an example of a better world, our counterparts living in the ancient world did the same, viewing even their time as a fallen one, ruled by greed. Greek and Roman authors such as Hesiod and Ovid detailed the decay of the world from original perfection in the myth of the Golden, Silver, Bronze, and Iron Ages, and the philosophy of Plato, in his Statesman dialogue, leans upon the myth of the ages in its metaphysics. If we seek to understand the myth of the ages through mythology and philosophy, we find practical advice for hopeful living in our own lives, even in a world that feels fallen and broken.Mythos & Logos are two ancient words that can be roughly translated as “Story & Meaning.”Support the channel by subscribing, liking, and commenting to join the conversation!Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/c/mythosandlogos00:00 Introduction00:12 Roman Mosaic Depicting Anaximander with Sundial00:20 Hesiod's Works and Days from Biblioteca Marciana00:55 The Creation by James Tissot01:16 The First Transformation01:32 Ovid's Metamorphoses from the European Library of Information and Culture02:00 Ovid, Metamorphoses, Book I03:13 Booroobin Sunshine Coast Australia by Jordan Condon, licensed under Creative Commons03:31 Star Map by Elizabeth Shurtleff03:40 The Golden Age04:01 The Golden Age by Lucas Cranach the Elder04:15 The Golden Age by Frans Francken the Younger et. al.04:26 Spring by Jean-Jacques Le Veau after Charles Dominique Joseph Eisen04:50 Funerary Stele of Demokleides, photographed by Furius, licensed under Creative Commons04:54 Hesiod, Works and Days05:11 Nothing Gold Can Stay05:15 Titan Struck by Lightning by François Dumont05:36 Winter by Jean-Jacques Le Veau after Charles Dominique Joseph Eisen05:50 Agricultural Calendar by Master of the Geneva Boccaccio08:58 Title Page to 1539 Edition of Hesiod's Works and Days06:20 The Souls of Acheron by Adolf Hirémy-Hirschl06:34 Achilles' Sacrifice of Trojan Prisoners from the François Tomb07:09 The Iron Age by Jan Collaert II et. al.07:22 The Iron Age by Jean-Jacques Le Veau after Charles Dominique Joseph Eisen07:32 The Age of Iron by Paolo Fiammingo07:40 Illustration from Griffith's Guide to the Iron Trade of Great Britain07:59 The Close of the Silver Age by Lucas Cranach the Elder08:19 Justice by Raphael08:26 Truth at the Bottom of a Well by Jean-Léon Gérome09:06 The Changing Ages09:16 Two Young Men Hunting a Deer by the Dokimasia Painter09:26 Artemis Kaurotrophos from Archaeological Museum of Brauron09:40 Page of the Codex Oxoniensis Clarkianus 39, Dialogue Politikos10:16 Saturnus by Jan Van Vianen10:28 Jupiter on his Eagle Enthroned in the Clouds by Stradanus10:55 The Age of Bronze by Paolo Fiammingo11:42 The Course of Empire by Thomas Cole12:18 The Golden Age by Hendrick van der Borcht the Elder12:36 The Stars Above12:58 The Golden Age by Abraham Bloemaert13:22 The Age of Gold by Jacopo Zucchi13:38 Booroobin Sunshine Coast Australia photographed by Jordan Condon, licensed under Creative Commons13:55 Astronomy Amateur by Halfblue, licensed under Creative Commons14:29 The Age of Gold by José Manuel Félix Magdalena, licensed under Creative CommonsAll works of art are in the public domain unless otherwise noted.Ambiment - The Ambient by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license.
This week on the podcast, I'm joined by author Daryl Potter, whose writing—both fiction and non-fiction—flows deeply from his own life story. In his latest book, Something More: Living Well in a Broken World, Daryl shares how God met him in a profound way, bringing unexpected healing to places he didn't even realize were broken. Although Daryl grew up in the church, the neglect and emotional abuse he experienced at home left him carrying a heavy burden of shame. It wasn't until the unconditional love of an aunt broke through those walls that Daryl began to experience freedom and the tender healing of God's timing. This conversation is a powerful reminder that none of us are beyond the reach of God's love, and that healing often comes through the kindness and care of others. Listen now to hear Daryl's story of brokenness, grace, and hope. And if you're looking for a safe place to explore your own journey of healing, I'd love to invite you to join one of my Lifted from Shame small groups. You can register on my website. In this class, Rabbi Bernath drew a powerful line from Hitler's Germany to Hamas today, using a hidden diary entry of the Lubavitcher Rebbe dated September 11, 1941. The Rebbe reflected on why kosher fish require both fins and scales, teaching that these symbolize two essential traits for Jewish life: ambition (fins) and integrity (scales).-Nazi Germany had ambition without integrity — brilliance used for destruction.-Radical Islam represents integrity without ambition — piety warped into death and stagnation.-The Jewish mission is to embody both: to live with moral armor and to harness our talents fully, so we don't just survive, we shine. The lesson is timeless: G-d doesn't only want us to be “good”; He wants us to transform the world with goodness, courage, and light.Key TakeawaysIntegrity without ambition leads to stagnation or fanaticism.Ambition without integrity leads to brilliance that destroys.A kosher life = both: moral protection (scales) + bold drive (fins).Jewish history and today's crises prove: our task is to shine with values intact.G-d calls us not only to resist evil, but to increase Torah, life, and light.#Israel #Hamas #Judaism #Torah #TorahPortion #TorahLessons #BibleStudy #Bible #Morality #Jewish #chabad #Rabbi #Rabbiyisroelbernath #yisroelbernath #fins #scales #October7 #Kosher #koshersigns #LightOverDarkness Sign up for "The Forgiveness Lab" HERE: theloverabbi.com/eventsFit, Healthy & Happy Podcast Welcome to the Fit, Healthy and Happy Podcast hosted by Josh and Kyle from Colossus...Listen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the showGot your own question for Rabbi Bernath? How is it that we live in a world full of sunflowers, bumblebees, sunshine, toddlers, and delicious cups of coffee - that also has genocide, war, starvation and suffering? How can our minds handle switching between two extremes, holding many emotions at once, and feeling helpless through it all? Is there anything we can really do about it? On today's episode, Rachel does her best to share how she is navigating the bizarre reality of the world right now. She opens up about how she has been able to find new avenues to be of greater service to those in Gaza, and how it brings all the emotions at once: from heartbreak, loss and grief, to hope, compassion and gratitude. There are things we can do. This episode will help you hold everything at once. After all, it's all we can do.
