One minute you're buying tickets to see a massive international soccer match. The next minute you're staring at an $8,100 charge for a parking pass and wondering if your car now comes with its own butler. That's where this episode starts, and somehow things only get weirder from there. The crew breaks down one of the wildest ticketing stories we've ever seen after a Long Island mom accidentally purchased an outrageously expensive parking pass while trying to score seats for a big match. The conversation quickly spirals into the state of modern ticket prices, resale madness, and why seeing your favorite artist live now requires either a second mortgage or a suspiciously successful cryptocurrency portfolio.Meanwhile, the gang discovers a troubling truth about adulthood: none of us seem capable of locating important documents. Birth certificates are missing. Diplomas have vanished. Social Security cards are apparently living in another dimension. If civilization depended on us proving we graduated high school, humanity might be finished. Then there's King Scott. What should have been a sweet and memorable gender reveal somehow becomes a hilarious lesson in why live radio and carefully planned family moments don't always cooperate. The result is equal parts heartwarming, awkward, and exactly the kind of unpredictable mess listeners have come to expect.Rafe delivers another unforgettable E-Memorium, the crew debates life, responsibility, and whether anyone on the show can legally prove they exist, and somehow every conversation finds a way to become funnier than the last. This daily comedy show has everything: outrageous news stories, parenting debates, accidental financial disasters, and enough sarcasm to power the electrical grid. Whether you're listening on the drive to work, hiding from your responsibilities, or trying to avoid buying an $8,100 parking pass yourself, this episode delivers the laughs. The crew also dives into the economics of concerts, the changing world of live entertainment, and why families are increasingly forced to choose between making memories and protecting their budgets. Along the way you'll hear stories about dream vacations, listener reactions, and the kind of brutally honest conversations that make the show feel like hanging out with your funniest friends. If you're looking for a daily comedy show packed with ridiculous moments, unexpected detours, and conversations that somehow make less sense the longer they continue, you've found your people. Thanks for making this daily comedy show part of your routine. How does recognizing our deep physical and social connections change the way we understand human nature?University of Cincinnati philosophy and psychology professor Dr. Anthony Chemero joins host PJ Weary to challenge traditional Western philosophy and explore the embodied nature of cognition.Dr. Chemero unpacks his book Intertwined Creatures: The Embodied Cognitive Science of Self and Other. Together they discuss the intersection of cognitive science and feminist theory to show how deeply our environments and social circles shape who we are.In this conversation they explore: How feminist critiques of traditional philosophy reveal that our earliest experiences as infants are shared rather than isolated. The flaws of the Cartesian worldview that treats the self as a hidden mind sparsely connected to a mechanical body. Using the pub crawl from the movie The World's End to explain why viewing other people as unthinking blanks is a fundamental failure of understanding humanity. What flushing toilets and far-from-equilibrium thermodynamics teach us about the self-organizing nature of human behavior. The physical and social constraints that effortlessly coordinate our actions when we move a sofa or dance with another person. The concept of shared public moods and how our emotions are often collective rather than purely internal. This is a conversation for anyone interested in psychology and philosophy who wants to break free from the illusion of isolation and embrace a deeply connected human experience.Make sure to check out Dr. Chemero's book: Intertwined Creatures: The Embodied Cognitive Science of Self and Other

Dan & Billy invite Nostalgia Test Podcast all-star Meghan Nolan to put the 1988 Nicolas Cage black “comedy” Vampire's Kiss to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST! “This is a steaming pile of sh*t. I hate everything about it. It is not nostalgic for me. You cannot be nostalgic, I'm gonna say it again, about a movie that's about him raping somebody [...] It's not a comedy. It's a film that doesn't even know what it is. It doesn't make me nostalgic about the 80s. It doesn't make me nostalgic about bats. It doesn't make me nostalgic about anything. This is a hard fail. I never wanna see this film again. I'm sad that I watched it.” -Meghan Nolan There's not really much else to say. Dan & Billy's guest, Meghan, sums it up pretty well. This “movie” (if you can call it a movie) is an abysmal piece of chaos that should've tanked Nicolas Cage's career, but because of his status as a Coppola in Hollywood he was absolutely fine and was able to continue to run amok forever. In fact, one of the main points in this episode is how it took almost 16 years for Jennifer Beals' career to recover from Vampire's Kiss. Sure, she was in the Denzel Washington movie Devil in a Blue Dress in 1995, but her comeback wasn't until her role in The L-Word in 2004. Yet, Cage was in a string of insane failures and chaotic bullsh*t since 1988, and he continues to have this momentous acting career, even after 1997's Con Air. Another movie that should've killed his career. But I digress. This episode has everything a classic Nostalgia Test episode has, tangents, regrets, jokes, and all the insane laughter about Nic Cages need to have warm yoghurt poured on his toes so her can be “aroused” in a sex scene with Jennifer Beals. Again, this man was allowed to have a career after this! Also, justice for Alva, the poor secretary played by María Conchita Alonso who has to endure being verbally, emotionally, physically, and sexually abused by Peter Loew (Nic Cage) in this abomination of a film. So, grab your fake plastic vampire teeth, reschedule your appointment with your inappropriate therapist, and brace yourself for one of the most insane breakdowns for a movie so bad that the podcast consensus is they'd rather watch Happy Gilmore 2. “The problems start when I conclude that only an uninformed, unintelligent, or evil person could hold the view that you hold.” — Julia MinsonIn a sneak preview of the 2028 Presidential election, Andy Beshear called JD Vance the most arrogant politician in America. Vance's spokesperson fires back that Beshear is chasing headlines. Just another disagreeable day in American public life. So how can we make conversation more civil? How to disagree more agreeably? In her new book (out today) How to Disagree Better, the Harvard public policy professor Julia Minson argues that disagreement is not conflict. You and I can see the world differently and have a completely civil conversation about it. The problem is when we decide the other person is stupid, evil, or both.Minson's test case is her own family. Her father-in-law is a retired Army veteran who served in Vietnam and Korea and has voted Republican his entire life. Minson is a first-generation Russian immigrant who came to Denver as a teenager. They disagree on immigration, on ICE, on most of what divides America. The problem, she confesses, is that they don't actually know why the other believes what they believe because they've spent years avoiding the subject. So Minson and her father-in-law make the worst assumptions about each other. Her deeper argument is about the danger of silence. The loudest disagreements get the headlines, but the more dangerous problem is the people who don't dare to speak up — the junior person in the corporate meeting sitting on their hands while a bad decision gets made, the teenager who walks out of the room, the patient who leaves the doctor's office. Minson is honest about the limits of how to disagree better: Putin wouldn't read this book. Some disagreements are not between equals. But most of ours are — and we're terrible at them because we'd rather go to the dentist than spend twenty minutes talking to someone who disagrees with us. Let's hope Minson has sent How to Disagree Better to both Andy Beshear and JD Vance. Five Takeaways• Disagreement Is Not Conflict: You and I can see the world differently and have a completely civil conversation about it. The problems start when I conclude that only an uninformed, unintelligent, or evil person could hold the view you hold. That's when disagreement becomes conflict — and it's usually based on inaccurate information about the other person's motives.• We Fill In the Blanks with the Worst Possible Story: When people avoid a topic, they don't actually know why the other person believes what they believe. So they make assumptions — and what they assume is negative. Grandpa doesn't like immigrants because he's a racist. That probably isn't how grandpa would explain himself. Most conflict is bred in misunderstanding.• Vulnerability Persuades. Bragging Doesn't: If Minson says “we should let in more immigrants because my life as an immigrant is wonderful” — that sounds like bragging. If she says “I struggled to find acceptance and I want to make it easier for others” — that resonates. Sharing why a topic matters to you, especially the vulnerable part, changes the conversation.• The Real Problem Is Silence, Not Shouting: The loudest disagreements get the headlines. But the more common and more dangerous problem is people who don't speak up because they're afraid the disagreement will turn into drama. In corporations, in families, in classrooms — the junior person sitting on their hands while a bad decision gets made. That silence has real costs.• Putin Wouldn't Read This Book: Minson is honest about the limits. Her book is for people who want better relationships with people they disagree with. It's not for autocrats. Some disagreements are not between equals. Some people have made clear what their goals are, and thoughtful conversation is not one of them. The book works best where diplomacy already should. About the GuestJulia Minson is an Associate Professor of Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and founder of Disagreeing Better, LLC. Her research focuses on the psychology of disagreement. How to Disagree Better is published by Portfolio/Penguin Random House.References:• How to Disagree Better by Julia Minson (Portfolio, 2026) — out today.• Disagreeing Better — Minson's consulting practice and research hub.• Episode 2845: Let's Ban Billionaires — Noam Cohen on the Know-It-Alls, where the disagreement is rather less agreeable.About Keen On AmericaNobody asks more awkward questions than the Anglo-American writer and filmmaker Andrew Keen. "Live" from the Ivoclar ballroom at Lab Day 2026, Elvis and Barb dives into conversations that perfectly capture what this industry is all about—innovation, relationships, and a whole lot of nerding out. We kick things off with Frederic Rapp, who went from growing up in his dad's basement lab in France to scaling it into one of the largest labs in Europe. After selling the business, he found his way back into the industry through innovation—helping labs unlock the gold mine sitting inside their own data with icortica. From dashboards to AI-driven insights and even voice-activated notes in the parking lot, it's all about working smarter, not harder… and maybe not looking like an idiot when you walk into a doctor's office. Then things shift to a great partnership with Casey Baldwin and Darin Lockaby, where we get into a seriously cool collaboration between Ivoclar and DESS. Think plug-and-play workflows that let labs mill their own abutments in-house—FDA compliant, streamlined, and actually simple. With margins tighter than ever, this kind of control over production isn't just nice… it's becoming necessary. From scaling labs to scaling data, from implants to AI, this episode is packed with insight, laughs, and a clear message: the labs that embrace technology (without losing the human touch) are the ones that are going to win. This week, we talk about TC… TC… shit what is it called? TC 2000! Sorry, I was drawing a Blanks. A Billy Blanks! No, wait. That doesn't work either. Anyhow, it's a B-movie from 1993 that kinda sorta rips off RoboCop, but has a villain named Niki Picasso. This one's a real dumper. Billy, Bobbi, and Bolo beat down Bigalow, Blade and Blaster, breathing breath into the battleground beneath them! Dialogue drowned in the dojo! Dangling water bags! Moist man meat meets sweaty sinew! Kicking breaker ass! Zoey's fatal backshots! 80s metal resistance band! Jacked Sebastian Bach! Amazing Pipe Logic ™! Niki … Picasso? Neck and nuts! Staring down Newton's Balls! In the past four years, few if any American runners have posted results better than Graham Blanks. In his last two fall seasons at Harvard, Blanks won the NCAA Div. 1 Cross-Country Championships. After graduation, he qualified for the Paris Olympics, the 2025 Tokyo World Championships, and the 2026 World XC Championships in Tallahassee. After Tallahassee, Blanks ran two strong indoor races in the New Balance Games in Boston and the Millrose Games in New York City. At Millrose, he hit 8:08.60 in the 2-mile. Now he looks to the future. It's a future in which he believes he can continue to improve on the track, and even win global competitions. (First he has to work on his kick.)Of course, he can't help but wonder about the marathon. One of his less-accomplished Harvard teammates, Ben Rosa, already ran a 2:09:47 in December, 2025. He and Blanks plan to hook up again for some tough training sessions later this year. We imagine there will be much marathon talk on their grinding 20-milers. In addition, one of Blanks's advisors at Harvard was professor Paul Gompers, also known as the fourth place finisher in the 1988 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. While some other top collegians have switched to corporate/professional coaches in their post-University days, Blanks is still working with Harvard coach Alex Gibby. A hallmark of their program? Blanks and Gibby don't believe in the "easy days" that underpin many other training plans. Even on slower days, Blanks almost never dials things back any further than 6:00/mile. He figures this means he is always adding to his aerobic development. He does take one day off per week, usually Thursday. You can follow Graham Blanks on Instagram.WHERE TO FIND "RUNNING: STATE OF THE SPORT"Use your smartphone to download our podcast from Apple, Spotify, Pandora, or YouTube Podcasts. Pastor Alan Pastian Every puzzle piece connects — not by its tabs (strengths), but by its blanks (weaknesses). It's the spaces where we lack that allow connection, grace, and God's power to fit perfectly. The Blanks, Pastor Alan reminds us that our weaknesses don't disqualify us — they position us. Through the story of Gideon in Judges 6–7, we see that God meets us in our insecurity, redefines our strength, and uses our “blanks” to build His bigger picture. TEXT: Judges 6–7, 2 Corinthians 12:9, Judges 6:14, Psalm 139:23–24, 1 Peter 2:9, Joshua 1:9 NOTES: Big Idea: Your weakness doesn't disqualify you — it's where God's strength fits perfectly. Practical Actions: -Identify Your Whine Press — What fear or excuse is holding you back? -Declare Who God Says You Are — Replace “I am the least” with “God is with me.” -Go in the Strength You Have — Take one small faith step this week. -Invite God Into Your Blanks — Pray: “Lord, fill my blanks with Your grace.” Stay Connected: Give: https://theecho.churchcenter.com/giving Online Service: Sundays 9 AM (YouTube & Facebook Live) Connect: https://theecho.churchcenter.com/people/forms/113001 Instagram: @wearetheechochurch #EchoChurch #MadeToGarden #ChristianSermon #FaithGrowth #BibleTeaching
Gregor and Rupp start off the show with a look ahead to a weekend packed with sports. The Colorado Avalanche may not be running away with the Central quite so easily. The Dallas Stars have been on a tear lately and just demolished the Atlantic-leading Canadiens 7–0. The guys talk about Jason Robertson heating up, Wyatt Johnston's power-play prowess, and the anticipation surrounding a Jamie Benn return.Next, we head to the West Coast to discuss the resurgence of the LA Kings. A team many predicted to contend atop the Pacific struggled out of the gates but has now found its footing, surging up the standings to sit second in the division. The guys dive into their defensive acumen and a promising offensive spark.Later, we look at the struggling Maple Leafs, who dropped another game last night—this one in overtime to the Kings—dropping Toronto to a .500 points percentage. People can point to the injury bug, but this team has been extremely poor defensively this season, with a league-worst goals-against per game. Gregor and Rupp break down a quote from William Nylander about the Leafs' early-season struggles. After a torrid start to the season, it looks like the Montréal Canadiens are coming back down to earth. The goaltending tandem of Sam Montembeault and Jakob Dobês has faltered recently, with both goalies struggling to keep the puck out of the net.Nashville is the team everyone is watching when it comes to a potential big early-season move. Will it be a coaching change, a veteran being shipped out, or something shocking—like moving on from Juuse Saros? Will the Predators regret going the veteran route instead of committing to a rebuild like Chicago, Anaheim, and San Jose?Home ice used to be a fortress for the Vegas Golden Knights, but over their latest home stretch they've collected only four points out of a possible 12. Can they turn it around as they play five of their next six on the road?Later, Pat joins the show for “Fill in the Blanks” with questions such as:Who can challenge Joel Quenneville for the Jack Adams Award? Will anyone challenge Connor Hellebuyck's Vezina reign?Which franchise deserves Gavin McKenna? After that, the guys discuss Gavin McKenna's start at Penn State before wrapping up the show with a little Grey Cup talk ahead of the big game in the CFL this weekend.Want to hear more from Jason and the entire DFO team? You are meant to be part of something bigger — a piece in the beautiful picture God is putting together. In this message, Tabs and Blanks: Placed in the Puzzle, every person has a place, a purpose, and a design that fits perfectly within God's plan. Child → Crowd → Disciple → More Like Jesus. "Think about the puzzle piece — every puzzle piece has tabs and blanks, parts that connect and parts that need connection.
