Welcome to the Catholic& Podcast! Matt and JB are two 20-somethings that love great Catholic conversations - so naturally, we decided to make a podcast. Each week we talk with incredible people about how they live faithfully through their everyday life. J
In this episode, JB and Matt spend some time just chatting about normal topics such as ranking Catholic Churches (basically a hot or not list; rip the American church), seeing which celebrities are Catholic and the never-ending cycle of generational struggles in the Church. They also talk about some highlights of Lent and Easter. If you like this type of episode let us know! If you didn't, sry not sry.
This is your good ole fashion throwback COVID 2021 interview with the one and only Cowboy Bosco. The homie speaks for himself but we hit on some great topics like what is good music and the answer isn't screamo. The low down of this: do what you love because haters are gonna hate. "You were created to be a Saint. You are made for that. Figure it out." This was Brian's call to mission for all of us listening to this episode. Today we chat with Brian (Ginger Prime) about content creation from a Catholic perspective. We jump through topics such as video games and the saints to practical steps to starting a stream. In it, we ask what it means to create content while answering questions of where and how does the Catholic perspective fit into video game culture and the overall gaming industry and community. Follow us on Instagram! You can find Brian on YouTube. Be sure to give him a follow!
In this month's episode of the Catholic& Podcast, Matt and JB chat with our good friend, Julia from the Seven Miles Chat podcast, where she is also a Catholic School teacher. In this episode, we get to hear parts of Julia's story and her insights into pop culture, Catholic schools, and the intersection between the identity of being in this world but not of it. Even more so, in this episode, we look at how the pandemic has affected the "human" formation of students and how echo chambers hurt cultural catholicity and humanity's friendship with one another.
In this episode, our friend Craig, a first-year seminarian, talks to us about his story. In it, we chat about pieces of his vocation and steps he has taken to discern - whatever that may be. In past lives, he has been a meteorologist and an organist. So you can bet that he knows how to follow the next right thing. Three touchstones of note are: 1) for discernment to be good, it has to take time 2) God has a plan for you, and that's where you'll find joy and 3) You won't do what you're doing now forever. Pray about it, live in the moment and don't stress too hard. As an offered suggestion, check out Pray, Decide, and Don't Worry. It's a great book to read and be encouraged that you don't need your life together right now. In today's episode, we talk with Kathryn, Corporate Missionary + Moana enthusiast on navigating the young adult life as a Catholic, especially the corporate waters. Throughout this episode, we dive into various portions of pop culture to see and reveal how the Gospel can be found (specifically Disney movies!), what it looks like to be a young Catholic professional, and tips on what to do (or not to do) for evangelization in the workplace.
Work to Live or Live to Work? Million Dollar Question, huh. The hustle and grind culture is real, regardless of the season of life or what you do, but is it healthy? Matt, JB, and a special guest explore this topic deeper along with the dignity of work, work and pro-life, and modern-day working culture. Send us a DM if you have any good remedies to working in the modern world that we can share - all responses are welcome!
In today's episode, we talked with our guest, Francis from Hallow, about his story along with a new app that desires to blend technology and your prayer life. We talk about the beauty of technology in the space of religion and how it can be used to deepen your relationship with Christ. If you are interested in changing up your prayer routine or want to try out Hallow, check out the link below for a free 30 days. Hallow link: hallow.com/catholicand
We are back at it with another week of our after-hours conversation where Matt & JB chat about a theme based on the twelve tribes of Israel - this week Simeon. "Man is by nature and vocation a religious being. Coming from God, going toward God, man lives a fully human life only if he freely lives by his bond with God." (CCC 44) When we talk about freedom and love, we don't really ever talk about obedience, and honestly, we speak of it being quite the opposite. Why would we want to be obedient or a servant to another? But in true relationship and love, each party offers themselves to each other in obedience. Some Bible verses to pray about and ponder on: - “If you love me, you will keep my commandments" (John 14:15) - Semon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7)
Hey friends, we are back at it with another week of our after-hours conversation where Matt & JB chat about a theme based on the twelve tribes of Israel - this week Naphtali. In this episode, we talk about our struggles with being a Catholic Christian in the world we live in, but on a lighter note, we talk about one of our favorite wrestlers... Nacho Libre. Lastly, if you make it this far, we also give the hot take about standing in line for Confession IS a Penance. Hope you enjoy, and as always ~good vibes only~ Intro music:
At the heart of an entrepreneur is the desire for good. At the heart of a human is the desire for connection. At the heart of a Christian is the desire to know God and make him known. Matt & JB got the chance to chat with our friend and entrepreneur, Juan Acosta. In this episode, we talk about Catholic innovation and an up-and-coming Catholic social network (maybe there is a movie to be made
There is such a thing as modern sacred art and Vivienne's work points us in that direction. Matt and JB had the amazing opportunity to chat with a friend we have made across the ocean - what a great joy it is to see the universality of the Church! In this episode, we dive into what it means for art to be sacred, art as an expression of an interior spiritual life, and bridging the gap between modern and traditional art styles. Imagine your life growing up - what you cared about, who influenced you, and who you looked up to. In the second episode of our 12 tribes of Israel series, Matt & JB explore some figures that we currently look up to but we also take a deeper look into what it means to be a son, how it looks like in our day and culture to become a man, and the threat of nursing homes. Hope you enjoy and as always, ~good vibes only~ Intro music: Cowboy Bosco: https://soundcloud.com/cowboybosco

Matt and JB had the great opportunity to chat with Tyler, a candidate for entrance into the Catholic Church. We chat about his story, the "moment" the Holy Spirit told him that this was home, some sticking points he had, and many more topics! He encourages all that are interested or curious about the Catholic Church to seek for truth and search for answers without settling for what seems like the truth. What is RCIA? The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), also called the Catechumenate, is a process of initiation into the Catholic Community of Faith for persons who are experiencing a conversion in their lives and seeking either Christian baptism in the Catholic Church or full Communion with the Catholic tradition of Eucharist and Confirmation. Simply, RCIA is a process of conversion which allows the candidate or inquirer to seek deeper understanding and truth within the Catholic tradition. Matt and JB have a chat with each other about Holy Week. We tried to keep it short(er) should you do a little reflecting and get things out of the way before you focus on the last days of the Lenten journey in prayer and meditation. We take a trip in reflection of our Lent and what we learned from this time and season of growth - especially from last year to this year. We also chat about our favorite day of Holy Week and the joys of the Easter Vigil! P.S. Chronologically the Easter Triduum is three days, but liturgically it's one day. So keep that in mind as you participate in the pinnacle of the liturgical season! We encourage you to experience this week as much as you can - remaining as safe as you can - and please pray for the end of this pandemic! Enjoy!
