Teachings from Create Church KC
Ben speaks a message from his heart and then answers questions from the community concerning his resignation as pastor.
In this message, Joshua speaks about the necessity of Christian communion with one another. A tree standing alone in a field inspires feelings of resiliency. Yet, out there on its own, it can never be as strong or healthy as it might be if it were in a forest, surrounded by other trees. In the same way, the Christian cannot thrive if they live isolated from other Christians.
If you are a part of our community, this is a must listen. We have an opportunity to expand in a very real and practical way into our community. Pastor Ben shares the story.
Using the story of Jesus healing the Centurion's servant, Pastor Ben reminds us of the power of God's grace. Being reminded that we also were once oppressed helps keep us from becoming oppressors ourselves.
Sometimes, it is on the road AWAY from our faith that Jesus comes and meets us. Then, once we have encountered the resurrected Jesus, we can go back and encourage the disciples of Jesus who have lost hope.
Our beloved Kingdom Kids Director, Grace Davis, shares with us her wisdom and we hear from a panel of mothers from all different areas of life.

Pastor Ben reminds us that we need to reset the foundations and remember that love MUST compel us and that can only happen when we accept grace at it is offered, through faith.
Once a year, we give the call to our community back to family - what we are committing to do for you and what we are asking you to commit to do for us.
While many are aware that it takes faith to follow Jesus, it's easy to forget that it also takes patience. In this message, Pastor Ben literally drops the mic after a few deeply convicting quotes from Eugene Peterson. This is a message you don't want to skip by!
In a world full of heightened expectations, how do we live with a grounded view of our faith and a hopeful view of our future? Hear the story of "Peter" and learn how to practically engage your faith in 2019.
As we enter week 3 of Advent, we are focusing on the idea of the joy that the king brings with him. Joy, though, is not an easy subject to talk about without addressing some of the core beliefs that we have about ourselves. In this message, you will hear from KC Woodward as she shares her journey from Shame to Joy.
As we come together for our 2nd Annual Celebration, Ben reminds us that the engine of the church is disciples who live their lives devoted to Jesus both in and out of the walls of a church.
Push out from the shore and you will quickly learn that navigating on the ocean requires a new set of skills. You have to see differently. Our relationship with the Father requires the same thing - a different way of seeing.
See the story of Lazarus and the rich man in a new light.
What do you do when it seems like God contradicts Himself?
Kris walks us through 23 ways that we can hear the voice of Jesus in our lives and encourages us to quiet ourselves in this age of noise...
Jesus - a stumbling block to the Jews and an offense to the Gentiles. Until we come to grips with the reality of our "faith", Jesus will be a stumbling block and an offense to us as well. But, when we see Him for who He is, we realize He is actually the cornerstone upon which we measure and build our lives, families, businesses, and futures.
“When I get honest, I admit I am a bundle of paradoxes. I believe and I doubt, I hope and get discouraged, I love and I hate, I feel bad about feeling good, I feel guilty about not feeling guilty. I am trusting and suspicious. I am honest and I still play games. Aristotle said I am a rational animal; I say I am an angel with an incredible capacity for beer. To live by grace means to acknowledge my whole life story, the light side and the dark. In admitting my shadow side I learn who I am and what God's grace means. As Thomas Merton put it, "A saint is not someone who is good but who experiences the goodness of God." The gospel of grace nullifies our adulation of televangelists, charismatic superstars, and local church heroes. It obliterates the two-class citizenship theory operative in many American churches. For grace proclaims the awesome truth that all is gift. All that is good is ours not by right but by the sheer bounty of a gracious God. While there is much we may have earned--our degree and our salary, our home and garden, a Miller Lite and a good night's sleep--all this is possible only because we have been given so much: life itself, eyes to see and hands to touch, a mind to shape ideas, and a heart to beat with love. We have been given God in our souls and Christ in our flesh. We have the power to believe where others deny, to hope where others despair, to love where others hurt. This and so much more is sheer gift; it is not reward for our faithfulness, our generous disposition, or our heroic life of prayer. Even our fidelity is a gift, "If we but turn to God," said St. Augustine, "that itself is a gift of God." My deepest awareness of myself is that I am deeply loved by Jesus Christ and I have done nothing to earn it or deserve it.” Brennan Manning
He authored your faith, He continues to write it and He will complete it. It's good news folks - your good works won't do it, your moralism won't do it, and your good intentions won't accomplish it... Jesus is doing it and He really enjoys His job...
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Col 3:1-4 As we continue to explore what it means to be a holistic community, we must also dive into what it means to live out of our true self. Ben dives into this idea based out of Col 3.
Ben takes us through Jesus description of the vine in John 15 and invites us to take a look at the things that we are invited into to become a healthy and whole church.
Rand Lohman powerfully shares about the learning how to meet the present needs that exist in the lives of others by intentionally engaging with empathy and choosing to act when our natural desire is to ignore the need before us.
We all have a story and that story has the power to bring healing to others and reveal the testimony of Jesus in our lives. Kris Edler shares his story.
God is at work in our lives and then at specific times, He breaks in with "Kairos" moments - times when God steps in with authority to see things change. How do we live as we wait for those times and what do we do when they happen?

Get ready to hear a powerfully important message on breaking the cycle of feedback that is harming our lives. As disciples of Jesus, we are called to be a Community of Practitioners, not simply a Community of Interest and we can only do that if we hold fast to what is true.
We either make decisions out of fear or faith. Fear-based decisions will not stand the test of time, we will just continue the cycle of fear each year. Faith-based decisions will anchor us to God's character and enable us to both run and finish the race before us.
