Just two friends and the occasional guest talking about whatever life throws their way. We often reminisce about life in the Army, the highs and lows of parenting, and everything that comes to mind. Even though we speak with conviction, we typically discuss things far outside of our own understandin…
What does the last 20 years of war amount to? Just working through some thoughts and talking about everything that life has to offer for both of us.
Diet, Exercise, and my awful job. Also, Vegas.
Everything from vaccines, to rough mental health days, to diets and kids and agile software development. We could use some structure
Nate had a kid. Well he watched his wife have one. Broken appliances, a streak of bad luck, and the joys of home ownership.
Nate and I finally get back together after a 3-month hiatus and we cover everything. Bathroom renovations, football, kids, the disgrace at the Capitol, and even the worst song ever made.
Matt P returns for a fall themed craft beer social. I tell the riveting story of voluntary sterilization featuring an awkward amount of genital talk along, nostalgic movies, also more urology trips. We sprinkled in some craft beer talk but that was really just a reason to get together to talk about vasectomies and whatnot.
We tackle everything from vasectomies to mental health and everything that could possibly fall between those two topics. Is there a purpose to working to live? Is that the answer? Probably not but we can't solve all the problems in two hours.
The championship round of this silly tournament. Evan Williams black label versus Woodford Reserve. I think we all know who won and also Nate has a passion for dancing at weddings. Another good time just drinkin' and catching up.
Round 2 Match 2 of the Bourbon Tournament! The winner will face Evan Williams in the Championship. Nate, Matt, and I also discuss hard-hitting topics like skunks, the efficacy of masks, and the annoying thing my wife does with bags of chips. Listen or don't but we had a good time.
Aaron is a father, husband, fitness coach, and a US Army Infantry veteran. He served for ten years and has a lifetime of stories to tell about his experiences in service and his decisions afterward that led him to where he is today.
Round 2 Match 1 of this ridiculous bourbon tournament. Evan Williams Black Label vs Knob Creek. There was a lot to catch up on like babies, banks, masks, and flags to name a few.
Adam served in the US Army Intelligence Corps as an Arabic linguist from 2010 to 2015. He is the first veteran guest that we have had on in a couple of years and in this episode we start to really get into the vision we originally had for this podcast. We talk about Adam's experiences before, during, and after service and how those experiences have shaped his perspective as well as the ongoing protests about police brutality, Nate's inability to swim, and the pandemic.
The final first round match of our ridiculous Bourbon Tournament. Here we have Wild Turkey 101 and Woodford Reserve in a head-to-head matchup. Matt, Nate, and I discuss boomers and their nonsense, how having a ton of knowledge available to us does nothing to help us survive if we don't use it, and the premier video format...DVDs.
Match 3 of this ridiculous tournament featuring Elijah Craig Small Batch and Jim Beam White Label. Nate got a bit sauced but it was in the interest of science. The three of us also talked about our hobbies, whether or not we can still pass the Army's APFT, Death penalty, how the government who is essential, and where is all the beef?
Yo! Nate moved to Colorado. Where the women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. We get a tour of the new place, talk politics, and our goofy kids. One day we will have a guest but that day is not this one. So if you enjoy listening to us talk nonsense about our lives then strap in.
The second match of the bourbon tournament where Evan WIlliams Black Label and Old Forester 86 go head-to-head in a taste test. Who will win? Everyone. Everyone wins. Nate, Matt, and I also discuss Nate's cross-country move and new job, bourbon, and Heat. The 90's heist film not the temperature.
This episode was going to be a followup with Nick J from our first two episodes but due to the massive time difference and the memory of a squirrel Nick could not make it so it is simply Nate and I talking about whatever. Featuring the most annoying clicking sound in the known universe.
Join us from self-isolation for a thoughtful and insightful discussion of the current times. We talk hard-hitting topics like our favorite TV shows, fast food, movies, and coronavirus. We push down the fear of impending societal collapse and escape with fun conversation and alcohol. Times are weird. Wash your hands.
The first match up of the Bournament or Bourbonament? with Nate, Matt, and Zach. Either way you want to say it this is a head-to-head double blind match between two different middle tier bourbons. For the first pairing we have Four Roses Yellow Label and Knob Creek. I think it goes without saying but, please keep in mind, we have no idea what we're talking about. That said, we like what we like.
Nate and I catch up after a couple weeks of radio silence. My youngest son was born and Nate got a new job. We also plan our bourbon tournament out. Bournament if you will. Other topics include: preferred tobacco, which is it: on or off the wagon?, the corona virus and before and afterbirth.
We finally got Matt on here with both of us and this episode ranges from "Are my neighbors dead?" to squeaky chairs to bourbon reviews. Classic NSTR style long talks about almost nothing but it's always fun. Also, why wouldn't someone drink 12 beers for the Dayton 500?
Baby Watch 2020, new segments, and randomly stumbling upon the first American casualty of WWII. If you're still listening then you know that there isn't much in the way of substance but we are having a blast and figuring it out...also Ruffle's All Dressed potato chips.
Nashville, Corporate life, and preferred water temperature when you brush your teeth but any temperature north of cold is the stuff of nightmares. Also featuring: skunk beer, Bernie Sanders, and life after the Army.
Nate and I discussing super important topics like the direction of the podcast, sample music, and radio voices. Also, we discuss other things like WW3, how twitter works, and radio voices.
Matt is a colleague, friend, new dad, and all-around good guy to be around. We discuss the joy and heart ache of new parents, World War 3, banjos, power rangers, and touch a bit on Nate and I's vision for the podcast and how we can improve as we move forward.
Nate and I dive into politics, tweets, international relations, kids, and college football with seemingly no expertise or basis in fact. Simply two idiots throwing opinions around like truth.
Do you need a desciption? If you are still listening to Nate and I ramble then you know what this is about.
A follow up to our previous talk. The three of us continue discussing mental health as well as the joys and struggles of being parents, our lives in the Army, and whatever else.
Nick was a Warrant Officer in our shop at Fort Hood and is still active duty stationed in Hawaii. After talking with him, he had expressed interest in discussing, publicly, his mental health journey and the struggles he faced personally and professionally.
