Bennett Yellin and Peter Farrelly talk about meeting each other in school and immediately connecting over their shared sense of humor. Bennett talks about substance abuse in college, while Peter discusses being a very hard driver at work. You talk about getting very lucky working with Eddie Murphy and David Zucker, and about bringing Bobby Farrelly into the group when they were writing movies together. Peter talks about being extremely loyal, living in Ojai, and never feeling like Los Angeles was really his town. Bennett talks about growing up in Beverly Hills in an Orthodox Jewish family. Peter tells a story about using the wrong knives while staying at Bennett's house because meat is not supposed to touch milk. Peter says he doesn't think Rotten Tomatoes is fair, and he also doesn't think criticism is very helpful. Bennett recently wrote a horror movie, Día de Muertos. Peter is a good audience member and wants everyone to contribute. Bennett knew everything about movies, while Peter knew almost nothing about them. Peter also has a very happy crew. Bio:  -Peter John Farrelly (born December 17, 1956) is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, and novelist. Along with his brother Bobby, the Farrelly brothers are best known for directing and producing quirky and romantic comedy films such as Dumb and Dumber, Shallow Hal, Me, Myself and Irene, There's Something About Mary, and the 2007 remake of The Heartbreak Kid. Farrelly solo-directed and co-wrote the comedy-drama Green Book (2018), which won the Audience Award at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018, the Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay, and the Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay. He has been married to Melinda Farrelly since December 31, 1996. They have two children. -Born and raised in Los Angeles, Bennett received his B.A. in Fiction from U.C.L.A.  Still not ready to enter the real world, he enrolled at UMass in Amherst for an M.F.A. in fiction.  It was there — on the first day of school — that he met and befriended Peter Farrelly.  On a lark, they tried writing a comedy together and this spec script ultimately got into the hands of Eddie Murphy and the Zucker Brothers, creators of Airplane and The Naked Gun.  Both Murphy and the Zuckers asked the duo to write movies for them, and their career was off and running. Yellin wrote exclusively with Peter for years until they asked his brother Bobby to join them.  The three went on to write a number of unproduced features together until they created Dumb and Dumber in 1994 and reunited in 2014 to co-write the official sequel chronicling the further idiotic adventures of Harry and Lloyd, Dumb and Dumber To. In 2007, the Farrelly Brothers branched out on their own and Yellin partnered with James Robert Johnson to create a professional writing duo that has endured for sixteen years.  Among the plethora of projects they've tackled during their career — some produced, others not — the two have co-written Let's Scare Jessica to Death for Paramount Pictures, the Fox situation comedy Unhitched, the direct-to-DVD thriller Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead, Paramount Pictures' Hotel For Dogs 2, the Anchor Bay action-thriller In the Blood with Gina Carano, the 20th Century Fox family film, Santa's Little Helper, and the Warner Brothers re-boot of the Police Academy series, Police Academy: Takin' it to the Streets.  More recently, Yellin and Johnston have co-written a live action family stage show adaptation of the hugely popular Angry Birds IP, and their original supernatural thriller Dia de Muertos has recently completed filming and is set to be released in 2026. Sue Rizzello is the founder of UK agency Remedy Marketing, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. A VISION of Noah was inserted into the Book of 1 Enoch, with interesting references to Leviathan and Behemoth. These are chaos monsters. Leviathan, described as female and from the sea, and Behemoth, male and occupying the wilderness—possibly the same one into which the Watcher Azazel was thrown as punishment for his role in corrupting humanity. We discussed the “already but not yet” prophecies of 1 Enoch 57–59 and the end times fulfillment of the vision ascribed to Noah in chapter 60. As a reminder, this month's study comes from the Book of Parables, the prophetic section of 1 Enoch written just before the birth of Jesus. The importance of this section of the book is in its prophecies of a coming messianic figure called the Chosen One, the Anointed One, and, most frequently, the Son of Man, a title not found in any prior Jewish writing. Jesus referred to himself as the Son of Man 78 times in the New Testament. The high regard for 1 Enoch held by Jesus, the apostles, and the early church suggests that it's worth our while to study this book for ourselves. It's not in the Bible, nor should it be, but there are teachings in the New Testament that come straight from the book of 1 Enoch. TrekCore is excited to announce the launch of a second podcast to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Star Trek – Warp Factor 5: A Star Trek Rewatch Podcast. Launching alongside our longrunning WeeklyTrek news podcast, every two weeks on Thursdays host Alex Perry will be joined by a guest to discuss and rate the next five episodes of Star Trek in in-universe chronological order beginning with Star Trek: Enterprise and traveling forward from there. In each episode, Alex and his guest will discuss and rate five episodes of Star Trek, and then pick from across those five episodes the Best Series Regular Performance, Best Guest Performance, Best Production Design Element, Best Quiet Moment, and Best Loud Moment. They'll also discuss how these five episodes contribute to the larger Star Trek narrative across more than 900 episodes, and share memories of the first time they watched the episodes – was it live on UPN? BBC 2? WPIX Channel 11? Sky One? CIC VHS tapes? DVD? Netflix? Paramount+? There are two things that make Warp Factor 5 distinct from most Star Trek rewatch podcasts: discussing five episodes at a time, and moving through the franchise in in-universe chronological order. Examining five episodes at a time gives space to compare episodes in blocks, examining in greater detail differences in character and themes. And beginning with Enterprise and moving in in-universe chronological order gives a new way to enjoy the Star Trek story, as an inter-connected narrative spanning 60 years of real history and over one thousand years of narrative history.  The show will begin with Enterprise, followed by Discovery's first two seasons, Strange New Worlds, Star Trek, The Animated Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Lower Decks, Prodigy, Picard, Discovery's last three seasons, and Starfleet Academy. Where will the Kelvin Timeline movies fall? What about the Short Treks? The TNG movies? How will you handle the period during the 1990s when two Star Trek shows were on at once? You'll just have to listen to find out! This is a rewatch podcast, and we'll be discussing full spoilers for past and future Star Trek as we make our way through the shows. But you don't have to be a Star Trek expert to enjoy Warp Factor 5. Each episode discussion will include a synopsis of the episode we're talking about to jog your memory, with plenty of audio clips from the episodes so you can hear for yourself the moments that are being discussed. Today Is Pentecost, fifty days after Passover. It's the day the Holy Spirit descended on the followers of Jesus and the day Moses descended Mount Sinai with the Law. We discussed the similarities and differences between those two events. For example, the fire on Mount Sinai and the tongues of fire over the heads of the followers of Jesus; and the 3,000 saved on Pentecost in Acts chapter 2 contrasted with the 3000 who were put to death when Moses returned from Sinai to find the Israelites engaged in debauchery around the golden calf. We also discuss the change between the law on tablets of stone and the law written on our hearts. We bring in passages from Ezekiel 36 in which God promised to restore Israel to the land—not because the Israelites earned it, but for the sake of His Holy Name so that the world would know He is Yahweh. Say "Louis Cyphre" out loud if you haven't put it together already. ANGEL HEART protagonist Harold Angel (another pun?), played by Mickey Rourke, fails this test spectacularly, and heads out on an American tour trying to find out the whereabouts of jazz singer Johnny Favorite at the behest of Mr. Cyphre. Angel arrives in New Orleans, where he meets the 17-year-old Mambo priestess Epiphany Proudfoot, played by Lisa Bonet in her first adult role post-COSBY SHOW, which scandalized audiences with nudity and sexual violence that reportedly almost earned the film an X rating. Angel's tumultuous sexual relationship with Proudfoot leads him to a shocking self-realization that becomes the turning point in the case he's building on Johnny Favorite. This plot hits so many "angelslop" tropes common to the genre: the barely-disguised devil played by a famous actor (Robert De Niro in this case), a colonialist view of Black syncretic Christian/occult practices, a plot about a jazz musician selling his soul, and even the shocking final twist. It's still not clear to us exactly what movie's success started angelslop, but we theorize it may have been WINGS OF DESIRE, combined with a broad pop cultural yearning for spiritual guidance as the rise of instantaneous mass media coverage of world crises led people to cynicism and skepticism. Regardless of the cause, ANGEL HEART provides an artistic touch to the angelslop genre that alternates between campy and deep. Iron Maiden has earned their spot as one of the biggest touring acts of the new millenium through an unwavering work ethic and delivering quality in every way to their legion of dedicated fans. As they prepare to come to North and South American to wrap up their Run For Your Lives Tour, they released a career spanning documentary, Burning Ambition, for a limited theater run before the inevitable release on DVD/streaming. As the boys have reviewed most of Maiden's 80's output and a few live reviews on their favorite heavy metal band, you knew they were going to check this out and tell you what they thought. But Maiden have offered up many documentaries over the decades (12 Wasted Years, The Early Years Part 1, 2, 3 and Flight 666) so they were curious as to how this one would be different and how many new tidbits they'd be able to glean from this one-night doc. The movie spans their whole career starting in 1975 and talks about the vision and work ethic of one Steve Harris, the founder and leader of Maiden since its inception. Because of the huge amount of time to cover, the film didn't dive deep into the making of albums, chart success or tours but gave everyone a voice (off-screen) using footage from the 50 years of the band's career. The hardcore fans may not have learned too much but to hear the stories of famous fans like Brian Slagel (a guest of UAWIL), Javier Bardem and Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine was a nice touch. Plus, they included past members, crew members and fans from around the world sharing their stories of why they are so loyal to Iron Maiden. For the most part, they highlighted how bringing new members into the band change the music for the better (and sometimes worse), how that affected their popularity and draw as a life act and how (and why) they're still going today. They hit the highest of highs in the 1980s but burned themselves out in the process. Thanks to grunge and significant lineup changes in the 90s, they went backwards a bit, especially in America where they sometimes found themselves playing to 500 people. But the reunification with Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith on Brave New World and beyond propelled them back to the top - a place they haven't left in 25 years. And of course, there's lots of Eddie in his many incarnations - perhaps the greatest marketing image in the history of heavy metal or even recorded music. While the hardcore fans may lament a lack of details or stories about the albums, it's a cool journey to see where they came from, how they rose to the top, fell down near the bottom and rose again to be the biggest (and in our opinion best) heavy metal band in the world.
