Prana vidya, or the science of the life force, focuses on accessing the dormant energy within the individual and the cosmos. It involves practices designed to awaken prana, raising and storing it, and expanding and distributing it internally, throughout the body, and externally. Prana vidya involves the pranic body, where the chakras and nadis reside. By increasing the store of prana in the body, pranic awareness becomes refined, and the pranic flow is experienced as currents of energy and visualised as particles of light flowing through the nadis. Prana vidya practices involve ajna chakra, which serves as the temporary storehouse and distribution centre for prana.By using the chakras and nadis to identify and influence energy patterns in the body, individuals can experience prana as pure light, connecting them to the source of life and consciousness and merging with cosmic energy. By practicing prana vidya, a deeper understanding and higher level of consciousness emerge, resulting in a sense of being reborn.Join the path here

Patanjali, himself, described samadhi as that state during meditation where there is only consciousness of the object and no concurrent consciousness of the mind. Yet the ultimate essence, of the object, does not show itself, there's something that prevents it from revealing itself.
Dhyana is really an extension of dharana and has been defined by Patanjali as the uninterrupted flow of concentration of the mind on the object of meditation or concentration. The depth of concentration in dhyana is far greater than in dharana, and It's through the regular and continual practice of concentration that dhyana spontaneously manifests itself. It's the mental state achieved when we are no longer aware of our own subjective or objective experiences.
From a yogic perspective the mind should not be completely fixated. The mind is soft so that it is aware of one object, but it should move when it realises deeper aspects of the object, like when it realises aspects of the object that were not perceivable before, when the mind was wandering from one object to the next. To hold our mind on one single object can be quite difficult, yet the benefit of deeper insight into the object of concentrations great. Concentration on one object is not impossible. It simply requires consistent and persistent practice. When the mind has been purified by the practices of the previous limbs, concentration will come by itself, naturally, without any special effort being required.
The 5th limb in Patanjalis 8 limbs of yoga. And that is Pratyahara. From a really basic understanding, this means sense withdrawal. Most of us spend the majority of our life in the external world, meaning that we are concerned with things going on around us. We don't spend as much time in our internal world, focussing on the workings of our bodies and minds. However to gain any sort of traction in meditation it is important to to be able to withdraw our minds from the external environment.
You can meditate without doing pranayama, of course many people do. However if we start to incorporate some pranayama practises prior to meditation we can more easily achieve the higher states of consciousness that we are aiming for. This focus of breath and prana, improves our concentration which in turn improves our ability to have a clear mind to meditate.
The Asanas are the physical poses we do to improve our meditation. Sukasana, easy seated pose. Think of this as a basic legs crossed seated pose. Like you would have done at school at some point. Ardha Padmasana, half lotus pose. Or lotus pose with one foot tucked into the thigh, hip fold. Padmasana, lotus pose. Both feet are tucked into the opposite thigh, hip fold Siddhasana, or accomplished pose for men. This is kind of like sukasana but the legs are stacked not crossed. And the heel of the bottom foot presses into the perineum Siddha Yoni Asana, or accomplished pose for women is similar to siddhasana except the heel of the bottom foot presses into the yoni. Swastikasana, or auspicious pose, is essentially the same as the above two, however there's no contact between the heels and pubis.
The Niyamas are the rules of conduct for the self, the individual, for you.1. Purity2. Contentment3. Austerity4. Self Study5. Surrender
The Yamas are 5 basic social codes that we can strive to live by:1. Non Violence2. Truth3. Non Stealing4. Self Restraint5. Non Attachment
The 8 Limbs of yoga provide a path to achieve enlightenment through meditation. It starts with the basic rules for changing a person's character and ending with samadhi, or enlightenment, which itself has four stages that lead to self-realisation. The first five stages are for getting ready, and stages six through eight are for getting better.1. Yamas (social code)2. Niyamas (personal code)3. Asana (postures, states of being)4. Pranayama (control of prana, life-force, cosmic energy)5. Pratyahara (removal of the senses) 6. Dharana (concentration) (concentration)7. Dhyana (meditation)8. Samadhi (transcendental consciousness)
Most of us have lives that are like the output of a broken computer. Now, in most cases, it's not the brain itself that's wrong; it's the programme in the mind. In other words, if we want our lives to have meaning, we have to change the way our minds work. All of our unhappiness and pain in life comes from the wrong mental programme that we have slowly built up since birth. If you change the way your mind works, you can start living a happier, and more meaningful life. With a well-trained mind, this world can be like heaven on earth. A mind that isn't well-trained can turn this world into hell. When we harmonise our minds to our surroundings, we automatically feel happy. Happiness comes from inside, not from changing the world to fit our needs. By reprogramming our minds, we can find lasting happiness within ourselves.
The universe exists on multiple levels at once. Every item or entity on the physical plane has a counterpart on the more subtle planes, and life and activity are very comparable.Psychic matter is thought to be formed of smaller particles than protons, electrons, and neutrons and to move faster than light. You can also believe in subtler levels than the psychological, but they can't be described with science. The mental and causal planes are well-known. The psychic realm is above the physical. It has many similarities to the physical world, and most people experience psychic phenomena occasionally. When a person is sleeping, passes out, or suffers a strong physical or emotional shock, this happens. Drugs can also cause spontaneous psychic visions. Psychic awakening causes intuition, "spiritual experiences," and visions.
Meditation is a holistic treatment for disease. It is a more comprehensive treatment than medications, which tend to treat the symptom of the sickness, but can have unintended harmful side effects in other regions of the body. There are numerous examples of this. Meditation returns the treatment to the patient. The patient will be able to exert more control over their own health in order to treat the cause of the illness. The treatment will address the entire mind-body system. Through the practise of meditation the mind may be educated to heal the disease, but first one must learn to meditate and have more control over the mind-body system. When we are aware of the internal development of the mind and body, we can channel energy to where they are needed the most.
MONDAY MEDITATIONFocussing on the heart chakra to release and create more space, both energetically and spiritually.
Great spiritual leaders throughout history have argued that infinite knowledge exists within us. That what is outside is also inside. It's thought that every cell within us contains total knowledge of our past, containing memories of everything that has happened in each individual's existence. Not just from this life, but from every life ever lived. That could be either an earth life or a spiritual life.
From a scientific point of view, we can look at meditation as biofeedback. This is the way we measure and monitor electrical waves that are emitted from the brain - brain waves. Here we will explore the 4 main types of biofeedback - Beta, Alpha, Theta and Delta and how they can be impacted by meditation
What is Yoga Nidra? What is Psychic Sleep? Why do it?Yoga Nidra is known as psychic sleep. When we practise yoga Nidra we are activating the Theta Brainwaves and move into a lucid dreamlike state while maintaining awareness of the body. Here we can access and change the deeper parts of our being. 1 hour of yoga Nidra is equivalent to 4 hours of deep sleep. Get a deeper understanding of this ancient practise here.
There are two main types of meditation, ACTIVE and PASSIVE. Passive is the kind that most people do through mindfulness and general meditation. ACTIVE is the ultimate goal, being able to exist in a constant state of meditation whiles performing day to day activities in the modern world. If we can master the passive meditation we can achieve active meditation which will ultimately lead us to a higher state of vibration.
Meditation is something that most people have heard about, few have any true conception about and even fewer have actually experienced. The whole point of meditation is to transcend the rational mind. We can do this when we divide the mind into three main parts, Lower, Middle and Higher. What happens when we meditate and which part of our mind is activated? If you've ever wondered what the point of meditation is or how to do it, we have some answers here.
