Have you ever caught yourself silently shrinking, using the word "just" before your title, your accomplishments, or even your ideas? Maybe you've said, "I'm just a team member," or "I'm just filling in"—and in that tiny word, you let a little light of your confidence flicker out. I've heard from leaders just like you, wrestling with the tension between wanting to stand tall in their careers and feeling pressured by culture to play small. The pull to minimize your wins, your presence, and your impact is exhausting. That's exactly what we're exploring in this episode of Being at Work with my longtime friend, MeChelle Callen. MeChelle is not only an author and leader, she's lived the journey of shifting from "just" to joy—embracing power, presence, and authenticity at work. We talk about why eliminating "just" from your vocabulary matters more than you realize, how subtle habits and societal pressures like "tall poppy syndrome" keep us from leading boldly. MeChelle brings real stories, practical tools, and rituals you can tailor for your life. This is an invitation to stop minimizing yourself and finally stand in your power, without apology. Episode Highlights (00:00) Why "just" Is Undermining Your Confidence Without You Knowing (03:03) MeChelle Callen: Who She Is and Why Standing in Our Power Matters (04:23) The Cost of Self-Minimizing Language (08:21) Practical Ways to Eliminate "Just" from Your Work Vocabulary (09:45) Tall Poppy Syndrome: How Culture Makes Us Shrink (12:31) Leadership, Resilience, and Being Seen—Even When It's Risky (18:15) Authenticity vs. Adaptability: How to Honor Yourself While Navigating Feedback (21:50) Rituals for Confidence: Music, Mantras, Power Poses & More (26:16) Micro-Moments of Power: Anchoring Yourself Before Big Moments (29:51) Why Your Unique Voice and Story Matters More Than Ever About Andrea Butcher Andrea Butcher is a visionary business leader, executive coach, and keynote speaker—she empowers leaders to gain clarity through the chaos by being MORE of who they already are. Back on the Free Outside podcast, I'm catching up with Will Murray after a wild eight months. Since Black Canyon he's gone all-in: new coach (CTS's John Fitzgerald), smarter long runs, and a rock-solid mindset that turned Javelina into a masterclass in steady, no surges. We talk about why he wore a pack while the front pack rocked belts (spoiler: seven bottles a lap and an ice pocket), how he practices mantras on long runs, and the simple crew rule that keeps big races from falling apart: do simple better. Will opens up about the detour through AFib, an ankle injury, a bout of giardia, and how cycling + hiking rebuilt fitness and trust. We also wander into big ideas—Western States, training camps, and what a Grand Tour of trail running could look like. It's process over hype, and it's really, really good.Chapters00:00 Intro & catching up05:30 All-in since Black Canyon08:30 Why get a coach (CTS/John)11:00 Race plan: steady, no surges13:30 Lap themes & mindset15:30 Pack choice & hydration (7 bottles/lap)18:00 Mantras in training20:30 Crew: “Do simple better”23:00 AFib, ankle, giardia detour26:00 Rebuilding with cycling & hiking29:00 Western States lessons32:00 Future goals & balance34:00 Shoes talk (Catamount, super shoes?)36:00 Stage-race / team ideas38:00 Wrap & outroSubscribe to Substack: http://freeoutside.substack.comSupport this content on patreon: HTTP://patreon.com/freeoutsideBuy my book "Free Outside" on Amazon: https://amzn.to/39LpoSFEmail me to buy a signed copy of my book, "Free Outside" at jeff@freeoutside.comWatch the movie about setting the record on the Colorado Trail: https://tubitv.com/movies/100019916/free-outsideWebsite: www.Freeoutside.comInstagram: thefreeoutsidefacebook: www.facebook.com/freeoutside
Morning Mantra: "All Is Well."Sometimes in life, we lose sight of what's important to us, what we're working towards, or how we want to show up. Having a life mantra that we can turn to for guidance helps to remind us of the principles by which we want to live. Because I suffer with anxiety I chose the above mantra for mine.Similar to a daily intention, which is how you want to show up that particular day, a life manta is how you want to show up in life overall. In essence, it's a guiding principle for how you want to live life. This mantra reminds me to be grateful, to let go and to stay present.Sometimes I reevaluate my daily mantra- depending on what I am living through- but my life mantra stays as the foundation I need to guide me.Maybe you have one already? If not, what do you think yours would be? What quote have you found that is a good guide on how you want to show up for life? Please let me know in the comments.#BeGuided #BeHappy #BeHorsey #BeHippie #HorseHippie #MorningMantra #WordsToInspire #InspirationalQuotes #SmallBusinessOwner #WomenOwned #HorseHippieBoutique

I recently spent time hiking the Four Corners (you know, the area in the US where the states of Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico form corners). After pushing my body to its limits, I ended up on a massage table where an unexpected mantra changed my perspective. This mantra made me ask: if we have mantras for meditation and our bodies, why not for our creative practice? We, as creatives, spend so much time battling imposter syndrome and the endless feelings of "not enough". Why not use mantras to help us dip into the springwell of our creativity. Ever open your laptop to work on that big project and suddenly find yourself deep in a TikTok scroll? Or decide that right now is the perfect time to snack instead of finishing that report? Yep, we've all been there, right? That's because procrastination isn't laziness, it's humanness. In this deeply personal episode, I'm sharing the story behind my first tattoo: my late mother's heartbeat and my late sister's initial, permanently inked on my wrist in honour of them both taken too soon and as a reminder that we only get a limited number of heartbeats on this earth. But this isn't just a tearjerker (though you might want tissues). It's a wake-up call wrapped in a pep talk you can return to again and again. Because every heartbeat is a countdown. And most of us don't realize it… until we're suddenly out of time. So why do we waste so many of heartbeats waiting to "feel ready"? We delay the workout. We postpone the dream. We distract ourselves from the discomfort of growth. We let the toddler brain in our head call the shots. But here's the truth no one teaches us: You don't need motivation to start. You just need movement. Inside this episode, I'm giving you 20 powerfully simple mantras that snap you out of procrastination and into action — even on the days you're tired, overwhelmed, or completely stuck in your own way. You'll learn: • Why resistance is actually a sign you're on the right path • How to show up even when you don't "feel like it" • The mindset shift that will change how you respond to discomfort • How to make future-you proud instead of panicked • How to use your heartbeats on what truly matters This isn't about hustle culture or perfection. This is about honouring your life. Honouring the people you love. Honouring the moments you still have left. Because the clock is ticking… and today is too precious to postpone. If you're stuck, listen. If you're scared, listen. If you're done wasting your heartbeats… press play now. Save this episode. Seriously. You'll want to come back to it every time procrastination creeps in. Jot down your favorite mantras, write them on sticky notes, put them where you'll see them when your brain starts negotiating with you about doing the hard thing. Because future you deserves a high five, not a headache. Think of your grandest goals - in your career, in business, in your creative or artistic expression, and with your family - it's my contention that whatever you endeavor to do in life, you're not honoring those goals sufficiently if you are not regularly challenging your body. For our minds rot when our bodies go unchallenged.I interview a man who has taken THAT to the extreme and arrived at a surprising mindset takeaway - which we'll share at the end of this podcast. When Boyan Slat found more plastic than fish on a dive in Greece, he asked a simple question: "Why can't we just clean this up?" He was 16. What began as a humble project funded with pocket money has grown into a global initiative, removing millions of pounds of plastic from the world's rivers and oceans in the last decade. But simple questions don't always have simple solutions. As Boyan will tell you, simplicity is hard. Fight the temptation attack the biggest problem first. Relentlessly iterate. And most importantly, let your mission, not the technology, guide your engineering decisions. Read more from Boyan on thefrugalarchitect.com

In this episode of Anxiety Chicks, Taylor discusses the concept of reassurance fatigue, particularly in the context of health anxiety. She explores why individuals may struggle to trust medical reassurance and offers practical strategies for building internal reassurance. The conversation emphasizes the importance of recognizing patterns in symptoms, using mantras, and creating a reassurance bank to combat anxiety. Taylor encourages listeners to trust themselves and understand that discomfort does not always equate to danger. What you will learn in this episode: Reassurance fatigue occurs when medical reassurance no longer alleviates anxiety. Trusting your body again is essential for overcoming health anxiety. Pattern recognition can help in managing anxiety symptoms. Mantras like 'discomfort does not mean danger' can be effective. The 24-hour rule helps in managing panic urges. Creating a reassurance bank can reinforce positive experiences. It's important to track symptoms with curiosity, not obsession. You can build internal reassurance rather than relying solely on external validation. Discomfort is a normal part of life and doesn't always indicate a problem. You have survived 100% of your anxious moments, which builds trust. Don't forget to rate and review The Chicks!

The boys riff on ski brand “cult” followings and why certain gear inspires lifelong loyalty. We start with a fresh pickup, the Bent 110 GDs and use it to unpack the Atomic Bent phenomenon before widening out to other die-hards: Pivots, ZipFits, Black Crows, Mantra, and even indie stalwarts like Surface. Along the way, we revisit frontside carvers and spotlight a few underrated winners (Rossi's Arcade 94/84, Armada's Declivity line), plus a practical bindings chat: how Pivots feel different from Griffons, and when that matters for real-world skiers. When pain shows up in practice, it can feel overwhelming but it can also be a doorway to deeper awareness. This is an excerpt from our Community Gathering wherein a student opens up about the challenge of neck pain becoming overwhelming during meditation. Rather than offering a quick fix, Sean Fargo invites a gentler approach: turning toward discomfort with curiosity and compassion instead of resistance or judgment. This conversation is a reminder that pain in meditation isn't a barrier to practice, but an opportunity to deepen presence, patience, and care. Join The Deep Dive (Life-changing teachings for spiritual mastery, guided sound journeys, and access to live community gatherings to share your most authentic self) https://iamemilioortiz.com/the-deep-d... In this powerful interview, Emilio Ortiz and Anne Tucker explore the activations and new energy transforming our planet and our lives. Anne channels angelic insights on the earth changes underway, describing how the Earth must crack open to allow light to enter and why humanity's role in witnessing this release is essential. Together they discuss the rise of self-awareness, the experience of loneliness in both humanity and the Earth, and how our thoughts and presence contribute to collective healing. This dialogue also reveals how we are moving beyond the karmic construct into a new earth shaped by unity, self-acceptance, and manifestation through presence. Anne describes the coming flash of light as a turning point that will awaken a higher octave of self, allowing us to co-create reality in alignment with our soul's truth. By embracing transformation, practicing self-love, and allowing what is, we become more dynamically open than ever before. Anne Tucker is healer & channel, supporting awakening souls on their journey through community, spiritual connection, and healing, so they can take advantage of this time of rapid growth and ascension. As a trance channel, Anne enters a meditative state where she connects to the Angelic realm and allows Angels to speak directly through her. She is a channel for Angelic guidance and healing frequencies that will prepare us and help to usher us through the planetary shift in consciousness. ___________________ Read Anne Tucker's book: What's Coming Next: A Channeled Guide to Navigating the Greatest Shift of our Time

After we gave our Secrets of the Devī Māhātmyam | Śākta Theology 101 talk at the start of Navarātri (The Autumn Goddess Festival) earlier this year, we then gave this talk where we examined the Devī Māhātmyam (which we only introduced in the previous talk) in much more detail to see exactly what kind of text it is and from that, learn how we may use it in the context of our day-to-day spiritual practice! Most importantly, I make the claim that the 700 verses that make up this text all of them form a complex and powerful mantra (or more technically, vidyā) that one can repeat like any other mantra for a whole host of both magical and spiritual applications! You'll find all of our lectures on this profound and ancient śākta text, the Devī Māhātmyam here.Support the showLectures happen live every Monday at 7pm PST and Friday 10am PST and again Friday at 6pm PST.Use this link and I will see you there:https://www.zoom.us/j/7028380815For more videos, guided meditations and instruction and for access to our lecture library, visit me at:https://www.patreon.com/yogawithnishTo get in on the discussion and access various spiritual materials, join our Discord here: https://discord.gg/U8zKP8yMrM

In this bonus release, I am sharing an episode of my other podcast, MANTRA. This week's mantra is I Am Not Here to Manage Other People’s Emotions. It's a common trap to feel responsible for the feelings of those around us, often at the expense of our own emotional well-being. But true empathy means holding space for others without taking on their emotional burden or feeling obligated to fix their feelings. In this episode of Mantra, we'll explore how to set healthy emotional boundaries, distinguish between compassion and co-dependency, and prioritize your own inner peace. Releasing the need to manage others' emotions isn't about being uncaring; it's about empowering yourself and allowing others to navigate their own emotional landscapes. This Mantra will help you reclaim your energy, honor your boundaries, and cultivate healthier, more authentic relationships. Mantra is an OpenMind Original Podcast, powered by PAVE Studios.
