In this podcast, David defines the grand concept of Kundalini and how this main concept is associated with more familiar terms such as Prana, Shakti, Nadis, Shushumna, Mudra, Prana and Apana Vayu, as well as Mula, Uddiyana, and Jalandhara Bandhas. He outlines the classic tantric imagery that is ubiquitous to many of the sacred texts and discusses the relevance of this important schemata to the practice of asana, vinyasa, and pranayama. David reads from such sacred Hatha Yoga texts as the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Geranda Samhita, and Prasna Upanishad to give examples how the kundalini language and schemata are inherently embedded in these texts. He also gives examples of how the 7 asana principles are a secret, disguised road map to kundalini awakening. The asana principles: 1) Samasthiti is every pose, 2)crouch and spring to transition 3) ground legs and arms 4) awaken spine 5) tap breath 6 ) seal in energy 7) play with opposites—awakening.

Du kannst dir das wie Autobahnen vorstellen, die durch deinen Körper führen und sich an einigen Stellen kreuzen. Dieses Netz der Meridiane durchzieht den gesamten Körper. The channels referred to in the title are energetic channels of the body, some represented by gross anatomy landmarks and others categorized by subtle body anatomy.This episode may be the science-y one yet, as the hosts overlay a template of cranialsacral anatomy over the subtle anatomy of the chakras and three main nadis (Sushumna, Ida, & Pingala). In order to provide clarity around some of these terms, here is a brief overview of some of the definitions.Chakra means WHEEL – they are spinning wheels of energy, vortices in the body, signified by a variety of qualities (colors, elements, essential oils, foods, practices, etc.). They live deep in the body on the anterior spine – also known as the Central Channel, or SUSHUMNA .Nadis - subtle channels in the body through which our prana flows. There are 72,000 NADIS in the body (or 84,000, depending on what you read) – There are 3 main nadis:Ida – Left side channel – moon – milky white – cooling – female energy – houses negative thoughts that are cravings, addictions, desires or misunderstanding that we think will make us happy. “If only I had [a better job, partner, friends, etc], I'd be happy.” Includes: Wanting, Greed, Lust, Clinginess, Stinginess, Jealousy, selfishnessPingala – Right side channel – sun – opaque red – heating – Houses thoughts you don't want to have! - Low level irritation like… “If only I didn't have [this partner, these friends, this job, etc.]” “I'd be fine if…” [you'd leave me alone, I didn't eat so much, etc.]. Includes:Anger, Frustration, Aversion, Irritation, Rage, ViolenceSushumna – Central channel – Happy ChannelThoughts of wisdom, happiness (low-level contentment to all out bliss). Sushumna is where wind is when happy & smart (inextricable). Must get out of negative mindset before moving into clarity of central channel since affliction & bliss cannot share the same space. Side channels are like vines that grow around and cut off the main channel. Cannot see clearly when wind is in the side channel. In this episode we are giving your Sushumna Nadi a deep clean! Nadis are the channels through which your energy, or prana, flows and the Sushumna is the main channel. It runs from the base to the crown, parallel with your spine, so it is akin to your spinal column for your energetic body. The universe exists on multiple levels at once. Every item or entity on the physical plane has a counterpart on the more subtle planes, and life and activity are very comparable.Psychic matter is thought to be formed of smaller particles than protons, electrons, and neutrons and to move faster than light. You can also believe in subtler levels than the psychological, but they can't be described with science. The mental and causal planes are well-known. The psychic realm is above the physical. It has many similarities to the physical world, and most people experience psychic phenomena occasionally. When a person is sleeping, passes out, or suffers a strong physical or emotional shock, this happens. Drugs can also cause spontaneous psychic visions. Psychic awakening causes intuition, "spiritual experiences," and visions.

This traditional pranayama technique aims to balance the two main energy channels, the Ida and Pingala Nadis, through alternating the breath through the nostrils. In yoga, Nadis are subtle channels through which energy flows, and this energy has an influence on how we feel. The Ida Nadi represents the more calming, cooling lunar energy that supports more restful states. The Pingala Nadi represents the more dynamic solar energy that supports more active states. The nadis are channels that carry energy through our bodies. There are thousands, but we tend to focus on three: ida, pingala, and sushumna.Ida and pingala travel from the root chakra to the third eye, crisscrossing paths along the way.
