Enter TODAY if You Want to Compete in the O. Henry Pun-OffHello, pun intensive fans. This isn't really an episode of pun intensive, so much as an announcement of something. Pretty cool.[00:00:16] This podcast, pun intensive has teamed up with Austin's O. Henry Museum and Brush Square Museums Foundation, as well as the City of Austin's Parks and Rec Department and Fantastic Magic Camp to produce part two of the O. Henry Pun-Off 2020 Special Edition edition.[00:00:36] Now I want to be clear: Once life gets back to relative normal, everyone fully expects the festival atmosphere of the Mother's Day Weekend event everyone has come to know and love as the O Henry Pun-Off to resume in its original format live and in Austin. But for now, the city has asked us to produce a virtual, but live Punslingers contest. And it's been split up into two distinct events based on the two contests regularly seen at The O Henry Pun-Off.[00:01:04] The Punniest of Show event has come and gone, but you can still watch it at punoff2020.com. [00:01:10] Congrats, by the way, to all of the contestants in the Pun-Off 2020's Punniest of Show competitions, including the top three placing winners. Jonah Spear, Gabriela Pedroza, and Sarah Bennett.[00:01:23] But . . . On November 21st . . . Less than three weeks from today . . . The O. Henry Pun-Off will be putting on a punslingers event entitled . . . and take a deep breath here . . . [00:01:35] "The O Henry Museum Pun-Off World Championships Punslingers Competition: Online Edition."[00:01:42] So head on over to punintensive.com to get all the info you need to attend the live event. But for you guys I also want you to go to punintensive.com so that you can enter the contest. [00:01:56] We already know that there be more people who want to enter than there will be space for, so as has been the case for several years, with the exception of some past years' winners who've already officially qualified to enter the 2020 competition, contestants will be selected by lottery. So get your name into that lottery by going to punintensive.com and clicking the "how to enter " link. Hopefully your name will be drawn.[00:02:23] We will see you soon with another full length episode and probably one or two reminders. Before then, but we definitely hope to see you on November 21st.[00:02:34]
It's official! Pun-Off 2020 is a go. It'll be virtual, but they're putting a cool twist on it.If you want to be in the 2020 Punniest of Show competition, throw your name into the hat at this link. DEADLINE IS MONDAY OCTOBER 5TH! So do it now. Even if you're on the fence, you may as well sign up for the lottery. If you get picked but decide not to do it after all, you can just let them know.
This is a "rebroadcast" of a March 2019 interview episode featuring writer Cynthia MacGregor, who passed away this July.Cynthia has hundreds of titles over her name, having published over a hundred books, not to mention newsletters, podcasts, and O. Heads up: There's a touch of ribald humor in this episode. We try to be family friendly, but the occasional double on taun-taun slips in. We like to think that if your kids get them, that's on you, not us. Talk to us about this episode by sending an email to episode14@punintensive.com What was that woman's name, anyway? Do you like the new name of our panel, "The Punnel?" Can you come up with any movie titles we should have used in Schmovie? Like one for a movie about "a sloppy granny?" Mentioned in the podcast: If you thought the game Schmovie was fun in the podcast, you should play it in a party! On March 30th, the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin, TX will be having a shindig that will include some of the punnelists! Graupel is a thing, oddly enough. Want more?
