Reading 1Amos 6:1a, 4-7Thus says the LORD the God of hosts: Woe to the complacent in Zion! Lying upon beds of ivory, stretched comfortably on their couches, they eat lambs taken from the flock, and calves from the stall! Improvising to the music of the harp, like David, they devise their own accompaniment. They drink wine from bowls and anoint themselves with the best oils; yet they are not made ill by the collapse of Joseph! Therefore, now they shall be the first to go into exile, and their wanton revelry shall be done away with.Reading 21 Timothy 6:11-16But you, man of God, pursue righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patience, and gentleness.Compete well for the faith.Lay hold of eternal life, to which you were calledwhen you made the noble confession in the presence of many witnesses.I charge you before God, who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus, who gave testimony under Pontius Pilate for the noble confession,to keep the commandment without stain or reproachuntil the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christthat the blessed and only rulerwill make manifest at the proper time, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, and whom no human being has seen or can see.To him be honor and eternal power. Amen.GospelLuke 16:19-31Jesus said to the Pharisees:"There was a rich man who dressed in purple garments and fine linenand dined sumptuously each day.And lying at his door was a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who would gladly have eaten his fill of the scrapsthat fell from the rich man's table.Dogs even used to come and lick his sores. When the poor man died,he was carried away by angels to the bosom of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried, and from the netherworld, where he was in torment,he raised his eyes and saw Abraham far offand Lazarus at his side. And he cried out, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me.Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering torment in these flames.'Abraham replied,'My child, remember that you receivedwhat was good during your lifetimewhile Lazarus likewise received what was bad;but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented. Moreover, between us and you a great chasm is establishedto prevent anyone from crossing who might wish to gofrom our side to yours or from your side to ours.'He said, 'Then I beg you, father, send him to my father's house, for I have five brothers,so that he may warn them, lest they too come to this place of torment.'But Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the prophets.Let them listen to them.'He said, 'Oh no, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'Then Abraham said, 'If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.'"

In this episode of Eat Don't Compete, we dive into the tension of becoming who God has called us to be. I also unpack the difference between purpose, calling, and assignment, and how understanding each one can bring clarity to your walk with God. Swiggy, once the dominant force in India's quick-commerce market, is now struggling to keep pace. Since its IPO, Instamart's share has slipped to about 25%, well behind Blinkit's commanding over 50%. To engineer a turnaround, CEO Sriharsha Majety is driving sweeping changes at the company—fuelled by a wave of ex-Flipkart hires, including Amitesh Jha as Instamart's new chief. The shake-up marks a cultural pivot from Swiggy's meticulous “doc culture” to a harder-edged “move fast, fail fast” ethos. But with Blinkit and Zepto racing ahead, whether this reset can restore Swiggy's edge or leave it further behind in the quick-commerce race remains to be seen.Compete in India's first and only case competition.Daybreak is produced from the newsroom of The Ken, India's first subscriber-only business news platform. Mid-sized law firms are facing pressure from every direction. Associates are poached with six-figure pay bumps, partners are stretched thin between billing and management, and specialty practices vanish without succession plans. At the same time, clients expect broader reach and deeper benches than many firms can deliver. In this episode, host Chris Batz shares what he's hearing directly from managing partners and executive committee members across the country. He outlines the squeeze mid-sized firms are feeling - lagging organic growth, talent retention challenges, leadership burnout - and the difficult choices leaders are weighing: scale up, go lean, or join a larger platform. Chris also looks at the emerging role of private equity in law firm ownership and the ripple effects it could have on culture, compensation, and competition. Along the way, he points out steps firms can take now: sharpen strategic vision, invest in leadership and succession, strengthen recruiting systems, and pursue growth through the right mergers or acquisitions. At its heart, this episode asks a question every firm should confront: how do you stay competitive without exhausting the people who make your firm strong? Vinfast, Vietnam's ambitious electric vehicle maker, is making its last-ditch global play in India after racking up billions in losses in the US and Europe. But its strategy is unlike anything the market has seen before. Instead of competing with giants like Tata and Mahindra in big metros with flashy showrooms, Vinfast is starting in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities like Coimbatore and Shimla—using car workshops as sales hubs. It's betting on a country that is invested in EV adoption, rising middle class families who value range over power, and robust charging grid. The question is whether this unconventional approach will help it carve a space in India's crowded EV market, or mark another costly failure.Tune in.Compete in India's first and only case competition. IRMA was never just another B-school. Born out of Verghese Kurien's (the father of Operation Flood movement) mind, it built a one-of-a-kind management program for rural India—training managers for cooperatives, NGOs, and grassroots institutions, far away from the IIM playbook. Now, Delhi has other plans. An Act of Parliament is folding IRMA into a vast new central university, the "Tribhuvan" Sahkari University, with hundreds of affiliates. On paper, it's about scaling cooperative education nationwide. But the shift is sparking anxiety over placements, faculty, and whether Kurien's vision will survive in a system built for size.Tune in.Compete in India's first and only case competition.Daybreak is produced from the newsroom of The Ken, India's first subscriber-only business news platform. As we hit our 40s and beyond, the game changes, and it's no longer about chasing ego but about channeling energy smartly. After working with countless athletes, I've seen the same cycle repeat: pushing like you're still in your 20s, sidelining recovery, neglecting nutrition, and sidelining strength training as if it's an unwanted homework assignment. As we age, we gain something invaluable—self-knowledge and wisdom. This episode invites you to harness the power of experience, turning past lessons into a roadmap for maximizing performance and sustaining a fulfilling athletic journey. Join us as we dismantle the myth that age equals decline and explore how to optimize performance in the master's category. You'll learn the “spectrum check” for post-game emotions, how to use language that builds identity (not anxiety), and the power of competing with a standard, not a scoreboard. What you'll learn: The #1 mindset shift for youth sports: presence > pressure The “Spectrum Check” to meet your kid where they are (not where you wish they were) The car-ride script that calms nerves fast: “Are you hungry? What do you want to eat?” Language swaps that build unshakable identity (NLP-informed) How to guide reflection without re-living the loss Why standards beat circumstances—and how to set them with your athlete Perfect for parents navigating club volleyball, baseball recruiting, school sports, and every level in between. Jay Olshonsky, former chairman president and CEO of NAI Global, joined to share why he launched 42 Plus LLC, an advisory firm named for his years in the business. His mission is to fight stagnation he sees across real estate by helping leaders move forward. We dug into AI's impact, the likely ebb and flow of an eventual bubble, and why you must pay attention even if you are not the expert. Jay partners with Phil Stringer to bring proven AI training from the residential side into commercial. He sees AI as a time saver for research, writing, analysis, and outreach, while reminding us that local knowledge and face to face work still win. Big firms keep consolidating, yet access to data and tools has leveled the field for boutiques. Personal branding in commercial is catching up to residential, with standouts showing how consistent value beats company size.Jay's playbook is simple. Know your audience. Give value. Use AI if it saves ten hours a week and rethink it if it costs twenty. Invest in travel and in person meetings to deepen insight and trust. Reverse mentor with younger pros to keep messaging sharp. He views the industry as 10 percent elite adopters, 10 percent striving, and a large middle stuck in place. His closing note was clear. Most people are not failing, they are stagnating, and a few smart changes can get them moving again.--
