Most B2B brands think growth comes from turning everything up: more campaigns, more hustle, more competitive swagger. But the brands people actually follow know when to slow down, tune out the noise, and get real. That's the unexpected lesson of KPop Demon Hunters, a movie that uses K-pop stardom, rivalry, and emotional honesty to show what makes an audience stay loyal. In this episode, we break down his marketing lessons with the help of our special guest Ray Lin, Fractional Head of Marketing.Together, we explore what B2B marketers can learn from pacing for quality, standing for something bigger than the rivalry, and making vulnerability a trust engine that drives demand.About our guest, Ray LinRay Lin is a mission-driven marketing leader who turns messy funnels into clean revenue. Over 13+ years across SaaS, marketplaces, and wellness tech, he's built demand gen and ABM machines that actually align with sales—and he's unapologetically pro-AI when it lifts both creativity and efficiency.A Bay Area native and former sports writer turned “accidental but strategic marketer,” Ray believes great marketing is H2H—human to human—before it's ever B2B. He's led and rolled up his sleeves across demand gen, digital, ABM, field, performance, growth, content, product marketing, and lifecycle CRM, with 8+ years inside B2B2C marketplaces like Grubhub, Wellhub and SeatGeek. If your pipeline's leaky, your teams are siloed, or “content” isn't moving deals, Ray's the marketing leader who fixes the system, centers the customer, and gets momentum back on the scoreboard. What B2B Companies Can Learn From KPop Demon Hunters:Work smarter, not harder. KPop Demon Hunters shows that momentum dies when you confuse output with impact. Ray pulls a direct B2B parallel: “one of the lessons that come from Golden is working smarter, not harder… [Marketers] a lot think that extra 10 attempts at ad creative or 10 extra emails that you queue up in your CRM are gonna make all the difference. When in reality, it's about quality, not quantity.” For B2B, this movie is your warning label: speed without intention burns out the team and blurs the story. Make fewer bets, make them sharper, and give your work room to land.Compete with conviction, not contempt. The movie's diss track, Takedown, is a trap: when your identity becomes anti-them, you shrink your own story. Ray says it plainly: “Don't let competitive obsession poison your well.” The point isn't to never compete, it's how you compete. If your positioning is mostly about your rival, you've already let them write your narrative. Lead with what you stand for, and you won't need a villain to feel heroic.Let vulnerability be your differentiator. The movie's emotional turn lands because the heroes stop performing perfection and start telling the truth. That's the B2B move too: honesty travels farther than polish. Ray says, “ The power of vulnerability and transparency… can really skyrocket a B2B brand.” In B2B, authenticity isn't a vibe, it's a trust engine. Build a brand worth believing in.Quote“Always be ready. You don't know what's gonna be a hit and what's not going to. And when it does happen, know how to capitalize on it. And the multiple prongs, the octopus of this behemoth that is KPop Demon Hunters, I think, is that it has all these tentacles… [and] is what makes it so powerful. You can't plan for the success of one tentacle without thinking at least about the others.”Time Stamps[00:55] Meet Ray Lin, Fractional Head of Marketing[02:15] Why KPop Demon Hunters?[05:10] Role of a Fractional Head of Marketing[06:20] Behind the Scenes of KPop Demon Hunters[16:00] B2B Marketing Lessons from KPop Demon Hunters[27:00] High Concept Storytelling in Media[40:57] Final Thoughts and TakeawaysLinksConnect with Ray on LinkedInAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company. Send us a textWhat if the best tools for leading a team could reshape how you lead at home? That question threads through a fast, heartfelt conversation with performance advisor Justin Su'a, where we swap highlight reels for real-life reps: nightly reflection, fearless feedback, and decision-making under uncertainty. Justin brings the richness of his Polynesian roots—storytelling, respect, faith—and pairs it with the rigor he's applied across MLB clubhouses, NFL camps, and elite academies. We dig into practical ways to raise confident, grounded kids without turning your house into a scoreboard. You'll hear how his family uses “fear reps” to make public speaking and performing feel normal, how celebrating failure on purpose strips away shame, and why the nightly questions (best part of today, what you learned, what you'll do better tomorrow) change the tone of a household. We break down probabilistic thinking for families—estimating odds, running premortems, and separating process from outcomes—so your kids can navigate auditions, tests, and tryouts with calm, not panic.Respect and discipline stay at the center. Justin's parents treated everyone the same, and that humility shows up in his own home: eulogy qualities over resume lines, service before status, and empathy for the person who feels like the “only one” in the room. We also challenge the myth that one path fits all. College can be great, but curiosity, craft, and consistent systems matter more than credentials when you're building a meaningful life. If you want a family playbook that blends love and structure, faith and feedback, this conversation delivers tools you can use tonight.Subscribe for more candid, practical conversations on leadership at home. Most firms chase growth. Morris Bart chased staying power – and built one of the most recognizable PI brands in America in the process. In this episode, Morris reflects on four decades of competing through saturation, tort reform cycles, and shifting media landscapes—without ever stepping out of the arena. This isn't a victory lap. It's a masterclass in why endurance, not novelty, is still the real edge in personal injury. You'll learn: How personal injury marketing became saturated, and what it takes to stay front-of-mind anyway What Morris believes most firms still misunderstand about branding vs. visibility Why the call center is “the critical juncture” between marketing and results How to think about the future of PI without chasing every new threat or trend If you like what you hear, hit subscribe. There is something really confusing about watching an athlete look great in practice and then struggle in competition. One week everything feels solid and confident, and the next it feels like their body stops cooperating. For parents and athletes, that shift can feel scary and frustrating, especially when nothing about the skills has actually changed.I talk with athletes and families all the time who ask the same question: Why does this keep happening? They know the skills are there. They have done them over and over in practice. But when the pressure is on, their heart races, their muscles tighten, and everything suddenly feels harder than it should. In this episode, I explain why competition creates such a strong reaction in the body. When something feels important, the brain treats it like a threat. The heart speeds up, breathing changes, and the body gets tense. This is not a sign that an athlete is weak or unprepared. It is a normal response that shows up when the brain thinks something really matters. What makes the biggest difference is how that feeling is understood. I use the example of a roller coaster. Some people love them. Some people hate them. But the physical sensations are the same. The difference is the story the mind tells about those sensations. One athlete feels nervous and thinks, I'm ready. Another feels the same nerves and thinks, Something is wrong. Most performance problems do not come from nerves themselves. They come from worrying about the nerves. When an athlete starts believing that feeling nervous means they are going to fail, their focus shifts away from what they know how to do. The skills are still there, but fear makes them harder to access.Throughout the episode, I talk about why mental training is so important for athletes who struggle under pressure. Learning how to understand nerves differently helps athletes stay present and grounded instead of getting stuck in fear. When pressure feels familiar instead of threatening, competition becomes easier to handle. In this episode, you will hear • Why competition feels so different from practice • Why nerves are a normal part of performing • How interpretation changes what pressure feels like • Why worry, not nerves, leads to mistakes • How mental training helps athletes compete with more consistencyIn this week's episode of the PerformHappy Podcast, I talk about why athletes don't always compete like they practice and how changing the way they think about pressure can make a big difference.Learn exactly what to say and do to guide your athlete through a mental block with my new book "Parenting Through Mental Blocks" Order your copy today: https://a.co/d/g990BurFollow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/complete_performance/ Join my FaceBook page: https://www.facebook.com/completeperformancecoaching/ Check out my website: https://completeperformancecoaching.com/Write to me! Why does everything at school seem to turn into a competition... and why does it so often become a school counseling issue? In this episode of the School for School Counselors Podcast, we explore what's really happening when students compete over small moments and why school counselors are frequently asked to intervene even when there's no clear behavior problem. We look at the neurological and social drivers behind competitive behavior, how these moments get misread by adults, and how that misinterpretation quietly increases the workload and pressure placed on school counselors. This episode isn't about strategies, tools, or interventions. It's about understanding the pattern beneath the referrals. If you're a school counselor who feels pulled into situations that don't quite make sense- but still feel urgent- this conversation will help you see what's actually happening before the response gets triggered.*********************************Join the next-level conversation in my Substack.*********************************Want support with real-world strategies that actually work on your campus? Nathan Furr, professor of strategy at INSEAD, researches what makes great innovative leaders, and he reveals how they develop and spend “innovation capital.” Like social or political capital, it's a power to motivate employees, win the buy-in of stakeholders, and sell breakthrough products. Furr argues that innovation capital is something everyone can develop and grow by using something he calls impression amplifiers. Furr is the coauthor of the book “Innovation Capital: How to Compete—and Win—Like the World's Most Innovative Leaders.”

Send us a textTwo Great authors and one inspirational city are the focus of this episode. Sinclair Lewis Sinclair Lewis's writing advice, often delivered directly to his students or in letters, focused on the practicalities of a writing life and the raw discipline required. Some of his most memorable guidance includes the reminder that "real writers" are unstoppable and the emphasis that writing is simply hard work. Focus and disciplineDon't fool yourself. Lewis advised writers, "You can fool the critics but never yourself". Embrace the hard work.Ignore discouraging words. Turn off distractions. Writing craftWrite with your ear. Lewis insisted that writers and readers should use their ears, not just their eyes.Write what truly interests you. He advised, "Write about what really interests you... and nothing else". Be painstakingly clear. Save your drafts. He suggested that if you give up on a piece of writing, you should put it in a drawer instead of throwing it away. He found that much of his best work came from revising or rewriting things he had abandoned years earlier.Know your words.Consider not using a typewriter.Advice to his studentsWhen Lewis taught at the University of Minnesota, he had some pointed words for his class. : Compete with the best. Possess a "divine egotism". Lewis encouraged a form of confidence and ambition in his students.Live righteously. Tennessee Williams Based on his journals and interviews, Tennessee Williams' writing advice centers on honest, emotionally-driven storytelling and consistent practice. He encouraged writers to focus on the human heart, avoid distractions, and embrace the fragile, conflicted parts of themselves and their characters. Write honestly and from withinFocus on inner tension. Be autobiographical. Identify with vulnerable characters. Williams found it easier to write about people who were fragile, lonely, or on the verge of hysteria,Embrace the full messiness of your characters. He encouraged writers to let their characters "fight," "claw their way toward something," and be "messy and holy and tired" instead of being quiet and acceptable. Overcome your inner criticBelieve in your first draft.Believe in yourself.Recognize the dual nature of your work. After the first draft, Williams noted that a play is never as good or as bad as you think it is. The truth lies somewhere in the middle, and a writer must push past these self-assessments. Cultivate a strong work ethicWork every day.Revise relentlessly. Be a "wasteful writer." Williams admitted to generating a lot of material that he didn't use, going through multiple drafts before finalizing a work. For him, a lot of writing was necessary to arrive at what was good. Capture and express emotional truthDon't bore the audience. Tell the truth, even if it's shocking. Find inspiration in small observations. In this episode of Healthy Mind, Healthy Life, host Avik Chakraborty sits down with Mike Barefoot to unpack how movement builds more than muscles. It builds discipline, mindset, emotional regulation, and leadership performance. Mike shares why physical outlets like martial arts, workouts, walking, and simple daily activity help professionals vent stress without torching relationships at work. They also break down the real hack most people miss. Consistency beats intensity, and incremental progress turns fitness into a lifestyle instead of a short-term grind. If you want better focus, less burnout, and stronger decision-making, this conversation links fitness and mental health in a way that's practical and repeatable. About the Guest: Mike Barefoot has spent 27+ years in the staffing industry, placing 1,000+ professionals, generating $50M+ in revenue, and earning top awards like Rookie of the Year, Performer of the Year, and multiple Presidents Club honors. He is also a 37-year martial arts practitioner, a 7th degree black belt in karate, plus advanced ranks in jujitsu and kickboxing, and a multi-time Hall of Fame inductee. Mike speaks to MBA students, executives, and entrepreneurs on performance, balance, and sustainable excellence. Key Takeaways: Physical outlets reduce stress spillover. Training gives you a clean place to “dump pressure” so you show up calmer at work and at home. Balance is a performance strategy, not a luxury. When energy is distributed across life areas, productivity and resilience improve. Compete with yourself, not the room. Self-accountability creates consistent growth without chasing external validation. Perfection in results is rare. “Perfect intent” means daily effort aligned to your goals even when outcomes vary. Set incremental targets. Instead of chasing 50 pounds or 2-hour workouts, aim for small wins like 10 to 15 minutes daily. Avoid the “ready, set, stop” trap in business. Delays and hurdles happen. Use movement to prevent frustration from damaging relationships. Momentum matters. An object in motion tends to stay in motion. Small action keeps you progressing. Use micro-journaling. Track activity on a mini calendar or your phone so your brain can't inflate effort. Limited time can improve focus. Small windows force sharper training and sharper studying, especially for young professionals. Movement upgrades decision-making. More energy and clarity leads to better choices and less burnout over time. How Listeners Can Connect With Mike: Email: LinkedIn Want to be a guest on Healthy Mind, Healthy Life? The biggest enemy in the injured runner's battle is your desire to run as fast or faster than you were right before you got injured. This morning I was on a call with a recovering elite Masters athlete and she has been doing great, but she seems to be drifting into dangerous territory! During our call, I got worried about the way she was thinking about her upcoming workouts. But was thinking was very common, and very dangerous. And that is the reason I decided to record this episode. Today on the Doc On The Run podcast, we're talking about how you should never let your recovering body compete with your racing body.

Why do some people inspire us instantly — while others infuriate us just as fast? According to Adam Galinsky, the answer isn't random. It's psychological, universal, and surprisingly predictable. Adam is a professor at Columbia Business School, co-author of Friend & Foe, and author of the new book Inspire. He's spent years studying tens of thousands of real leadership stories across the globe — and what he discovered will change the way you see yourself and the people around you. In this conversation, Adam and Kwame break down: • The three universal traits of inspiring leaders • Why inspiring and infuriating people are mirror images of each other • How the “leader amplification effect” makes even small actions hit hard • How insecurity turns people into “little tyrants” • The difference between persuasion, authenticity, and manipulation • How simple practices (values reflection, power recall) can reduce anxiety and build confidence • Why anyone — in work, at home, or in life — can learn to become inspiring Adam also shares incredible personal stories, including how one sentence from Daniel Kahneman shaped his entire career — and how a small moment with his son revealed the true weight of leadership. If you've ever wondered why people follow some leaders and push away from others, or how to become more inspiring in your own life, this episode gives you the science, the stories, and the practical steps to do it. It's been a weird year for a lot of shops, and we ended up talking about all the stuff you only bring up with other machinists. In this episode, the guys compare how things have been going in their own shops — slower months, surprise rushes, work coming back from overseas, and the kind of quotes that make you shake your head. They swap stories about tariffs, reshoring, customers chasing the cheapest option, and what it actually looks like when parts hop between countries before landing back on your bench. There's plenty of real shop life in here: first machines, castings that needed rescuing, side projects that turned into lessons about global manufacturing, and a lot of “yeah, same here” moments. It's just an honest conversation about what's been happening in the trade — nothing fancy, just the real day-to-day most machinists will recognize.Chat with Ian here, or connect with him on LinkedIn.
