Having underestimated the breadth and size of trade barriers imposed by the United States on all its trading partners, markets continue to come to grips with the short and long term implications across assets, while economists and observers try to wrap their heads around what the global trading system, with the US dollar sitting at its center, will look like in the coming months and years. Elliot Hentov, Head of Macro Policy Research at State Street Global Advisors joins the podcast this week, offering a robust framework for assessing the negotiability and sustainability of tariffs, as well as the long-term implications for asset and FX markets.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

I meant to upload this last week but I was in Australia losing my mind crossing the outback like the narrator of What's Rangoon to You Is Grafton To Me (which no one out there seems to know, let alone have any interest in ABC radio, TISM, Wake in Fright, Ozploitation cinema, that guy that walked around talking to people on the street on TV, or even the morning show I turned on upon arrival at my airbnb that was referring to orange and ham pizza as "Christmas Pizza" before segueing into cockroach milk). So anyway, here it is now.President Crooks continues to go Bucko wild, necessitating at least one well meaning bleep from me and making Jennifer uncomfortable. He talks a bit about the history of noise, the types of noisers, Milwaukee's wild rap scene, and some other bits (Australians and their oppressively close sun got me calling everything "bits" now). Pulled a couple of really old Smudge tracks from Bucko's Bandcamp, at least one dating back to the Galactic Intolerance Records days on archive.org. Check out the rest of what remains of his discography over at http://thesmudge.bandcamp.comAlso, check out the zine/documentary-ish thing we made about his Milwaukee Noise Fest and our trip to Fargo, the Arbitrary Art. Be the first to download or buy a copy at my gumroad http://thearbitraryart.gumroad.com or glance at the unlisted video Bucko put up that I generally pretend does not exist. Or if you're in Philly look for an unmarked DVD in a yellow sleeve that I occasionally drop in Little Free Blockbusters.

From there, we charge headfirst into a battlefield of topics: … Continue reading "148: Snow Fright"

Struggling to find a role that would break her from beautiful girlfriend, adoring wife parts, 1992's My New Gun gave Diane Lane her first starring vehicle. It was a role that got her noticed and some of the best reviews of her career. Supporting her were Stephen Collins, James LeGros, Maddie Corman, Tess Harper, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman in the tale of a handgun that sets off a chain of distressing events in the life of Lane's unfulfilled New Jersey housewife. Dan and Vicky discuss the indie darling along with plenty of recently seen like Babygirl, Presence, NIghtbitch, Companion, 1972's Fright, Red Rooms, It Ends With Us, Wolfman, Shudder's Horrors Greatest and lots of SNL 50 programming. We'll look at a few newspaper headlines and stories from the past where people were deemed to be scared to death. (Incidents of Death By Fright) *** The tragic death of 11-year-old Darius Flinders could quite possibly be one of the strangest deaths ever recorded. It wouldn't seem so at first, but it gets that way as the possible explanations come forth. (The Strange Death of Darius N. Flinders) *** Last month a group of disgruntled TikTok witches reportedly got together and combined their online powers to cast a negative spell on the moon. Not a sentence I thought I'd ever read aloud, but that's just the kind of year we're having, isn't it? (Disgruntled Witches Curse the Moon) *** Weirdo family member Chris Harrell feels something hop onto the end of his bed… and it wasn't his dog. (Zombie Paralysis) *** Philadelphian Dorothy Cooper Forstein appeared to be happily married, comfortably well-to-do, a loving mother, and well-liked. She was, in short, one of the last people anyone would imagine as a victim of one of the creepiest disappearances in American history. (The Disappearance of Dorothy Forstein) *** Allan Pinkerton started the nation's first P.I. firm, saved Abraham Lincoln's life, and led Union spies behind Confederate lines during the Civil War. We'll look at the formation of the Pinkerton Agency. As you go in search of the spookiest haunted houses and mazes this fall season, we caution you to be ware of one in specific. Should The No End House be in your area… you should NOT go in. This Urban legend/Creepy Pasta was originally uploaded on June 30, 2011 and is credited to Brian Russell . Is $500 dollars worth a life of endless torture, unknowns and mind F**ks? We'd say not. But as the story goes, there's a house that appears in odd locations all over the world. When it appears or why it appears is not known and the only way to find it is stumbling upon it or being told by a friend. That's what happened to David. His college friend, Peter Terry sent him an ominous message on AIM, after being MIA for days. At first David thought Peter was back on drugs, as he'd battled with addiction for quite some time... but then, David decided to check the house out for himself. He should have trusted his instincts and never entered the benign looking house in the middle of the woods because the NINE ROOMS he endured would forever torture him and change the course of his life there on. The No End House is believed to have nine rooms and the story goes that NO ONE has ever completed all nine rooms... if you do, you receive a reward of a measly $500. This episode details Davids experience as he took on each room and the horrors that each room contained. Would you try to find the No End House? Watch the Video Version on YouTube. In addition to this haunted house of horrors, Corinne recounts her experience of the April 9th, 2024 Total Solar Eclipse.
