In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Michel Parent is currently the program manager at INRIA (National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control) of the R&D team on advanced Road transport (IMARA research group). This group focuses on research and development of information and communication technologies for road transport and in particular on fully automated vehicles (the cybercars). In particular, in 1991 Michel invented the CTS (Cybernetic Transportation System) which is an innovative transport concept based on fully automatic vehicles. In his previous position, Michel spent half of his time in research and academia at institutions including Stanford University and MIT in the USA and INRIA in France, and the other half in the robotics industry. He is also the author of several books on robotics, vision and intelligent vehicles, and numerous publications and patents. Michel was the coordinator of the European Project CyberCars between 2001 and 2004 and the follow-up project CyberCars2 (2006-2009) alongside many other French European projects on ITS. Lucinda Turner is Head of Sub Regional Strategy & Policy, Transport for London. Lucinda joined TfL in 2006 as Policy Manager of Congestion Charging, leading the work on policy development and consultations for the scheme - including proposals for the £25 charge for high emitting vehicles and both the implementation and the removal of the Western Extension zone. She became Head of Strategy and Policy in TfL Planning, developing the policy for Section 106 for Crossrail, leading the consultation for the Mayor's Transport Strategy and becoming environmental champion for TfL. Over the past four years Lucinda has led TfL's work on environmental strategies - with a particular focus on the development of the Mayor's Air Quality and Climate Change Strategies. This has included developing the Clean Air Fund for London, driving forward bus retrofit programmes within TfL and also leading the work on the air quality impacts of the Olympics and the associated transport measures. She is also responsible for TfL's work on Opportunity Areas - looking at how transport can better support new development and ensure sustainable growth. Daniel Sperling is a Professor of Civil Engineering and Environmental Science and Policy, and founding Director of the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California, Davis (ITS-Davis). In February 2007, Governor Schwarzenegger appointed Daniel to the "automotive engineering" seat on the California Air Resources Board. In this position he focuses on climate policy, low carbon fuels and vehicles, and reducing vehicle travel and land use. Daniel is recognized as a leading international expert on transportation technology assessment, energy and environmental aspects of transportation, and transportation policy. He was co-director of the 2007 study that designed California's landmark low carbon fuel standard and co-director of a follow-up 2012 national study. In 2008 he was appointed the first chair of the "Future of Transportation" Council of the Davos World Economic Forum. Alongside authoring "Two Billion Cars", he was a lead author of the transportation chapter on the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with former Vice President Al Gore. In 2010 he received a Heinz Award for his "achievements in the research of alternative transportation fuels and his responsibility for the adoption of cleaner transportation policies in California and across the United States." Mojtaba is a PhD student in the Institute for Transport Studies at the University of Leeds specialising in Traffic Safety and Driving Behaviour. During his PhD studies, Mojtaba recognised the need for using the "right" language to influence behavioural changes. He observed that there are many important findings that due to lack of using the right language are not put into practice within societies. However he noticed that industry has been consistently successful in this aspect. Mojtaba's aim is to attract the attention of researchers in the field of urban mobility to the importance of involving Marketing and Education studies in the dissemination of research results.
