On June 9, 2023, John Harris, TFA Executive Director, discussed with Michael Patrick Leahy and Crom Carmichael on The Tennessee Star Report (WLAC Nashville) the new development in the Covenant Manifesto case where the parents of the deceased shooter have announced that they are in the process of transferring ownership of their daughter's writings, including the "manifesto", to the Covenant School Parents.

On April 25, 2023, John Harris, TFA Executive  discusses with Matt Murphy (WTN 99.7FM) why Gov. Lee's proposal is a RED FLAG law.  The conversation focuses on why a likely unconstitutional gun control proposal is likely to fail and why the real emphasis needs to be on addressing the mental health issues that some claim are the root cause of at least some mass public shootings. 

On April 25, 2023, Governor Bill Lee joins Matt Murphy on WTN 99.7FM in an effort to explain his claims that he is a strong 2nd Amendment supporter and why he claims that his proposed Red Flag law is not a Red Flag law at all.   It is just astounding that Gov. Lee claims that his Red Flag proposal would strengthen 2nd Amendment rights!

WTN 99.7 FM's Matt Murphy discusses the problems with Red Flag laws with TFA's John Harris.  They discuss the constitutional limits on a government's ability to enact Red Flag laws and why Red Flag laws are favor by gun control advocates rather than solutions that focus on identifying and treating individuals with mental health issues who are an immediate risk of harm to themselves or others.

Dan Mandis (99.7 FM Nashville)  on January 25, 2023 interview with John Harris concerning the agreed order in the Beeler v. Jeff Long that was submitted to a federal district judge on January 23, 2023.   In that agreed order, the state of Tennessee admits that its ban on most 18-20  year olds being eligible for handgun permits or to engage in permitless carry is an unconstitutional law that also constitutes a federal civil rights violation. 

On January 23, 2023, an agreed order signed by the state of Tennessee's Attorney General's office was submitted to a federal judge.  That order concludes that Tennessee's "scheme" to deny individuals 18-20 years old who can otherwise lawfully possess a handgun from being able to get a permit or to carry in compliance with Tennessee's permitless carry law unconstitutional.  In this interview, WTN's Brian Wilson discusses with John Harris, TFA's executive director, the significance of that federal court decision as well as why it is that Tennessee does not have "constitutional carry" at all.

Richard Archie, TFA Director, discusses his concerns that Legislators in Tennessee are knowingly and intentionally violating their obligations under the Tennessee Constitution. 

Richard Archie, TFA director, reviews from a mathematical "proof" perspective the 2nd Amendment's "shall not be infringed" mandate on the spectrum of Tennessee's gun laws and regulations.  As demonstrated in this discussion, most of the existing Tennessee laws and regulations, are unjustified and unconstitutional infringements on a right of individuals that is protected from government infringement by the Second Amendment, 

In Tennessee, the constitution provides that the people elected legislators and the governor.   Those are two separate branches of government.  The legislators have the constitutional duty to enact laws that reflect the public policy decisions of the state.  In a constitutional republic, the legislature is typically closer to and more accountable to the people - and should be.  In contrast the governor is only an administrator.  It is not the job of the governor to set or determine public policy - the job of the governor is to implement and enforce the laws enacted by the legislature.   

Richard Archie discusses what Tennesseans should expect from their elected officials in terms of constitutional compliance

 Tennessee's constitution requires that elected officials, including the governor, the legislators, judges and local officials take an oath of office. That oath imposes on these individuals an affirmative duty to protect and defend the rights of individuals as protected by the constitutions of the state or the United States. Those rights include the rights that are recognized by the constitution and subject to the 2nd Amendment's “shall not be infringed” mandate. Tennessee law also makes it a Class E felony for a public official to engage in “official oppression”. Richard Archie discusses how elected officials who knowingly or intentionally breach their oath of office, perhaps by infringing your rights as protected by the 2nd Amendment, may be subject to criminal prosecution. If that is true, why is it that the state's district attorneys and/or the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation seem to never investigate this felony? 

 In November 2022, a federal district court in Texas was asked to dismiss a federal criminal charge against an individual who had been arrested for being in possession of a handgun but who had an order of protection against him. Under federal law, a part of the Gun Control Act, the pending order of protection caused the man to be classified as a “prohibited person” relative to firearms ownership or possession. That status exposed him to federal felony charges.   TFA's Richard Archie reviews highlights from the Court's opinion.

John Harris discusses Tennessee's "castle doctrine" which is not what many people think it is.  It is instead a set of conditions that under the particular facts of a specific incident address whether someone has a duty to retreat prior to resorting to deadly force.  It also creates and qualifies a rebuttable presumption regarding the element of "imminent fear of death or serious bodily injury"
