In the second hour of the Marc Cox Morning Show, Marc & Kim tackle the latest headlines, starting with a look at the Democrats' lack of vision and their constant focus on divisiveness. They discuss Rep. Jasmine Crockett's disgraceful mockery of Governor Greg Abbott, a wheelchair-bound public figure. The debate heats up as Marc highlights a fiery Senate Judiciary hearing where Sen. John Kennedy calls out a left-wing professor's bizarre views on the Supreme Court and free speech. Later, Marc & Kim are joined by Nichole Ambrose, former national chair of the Young Republicans, for an in-depth discussion on the political landscape, focusing on the tension between the executive and judicial branches, and why curbing judicial activism is crucial. The hour wraps with Nicole Murray sharing personal reflections, business updates, and her upcoming Florida trip—complete with a bachelorette party—and a chat about the rising costs of weddings. In In Other News with Ethan, Ethan dives into a surprising new biography about Yoko Ono, challenging myths about her role in the Beatles' breakup, followed by a debate on the dangerous financial trend of "buy now, pay later" food deliveries from DoorDash and Klarna. Finally, Ethan wraps up with Dairy Queen's 85th anniversary promotion, but with a catch, of course.

After law school, he made his way back to Alaska settling in Anchorage. In the mid 2000s he was elected to the Anchorage Assembly and was elevated to Chair at the start of his second year. This meant that when Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich was elected US Senator, Matt Claman as the Assembly Chair assumed the role of acting mayor. This happened just after the 2008 fiscal crisis. Mayor Claman was forced to make difficult decisions that hurt him politically, but that he stands by today. In 2014 he was elected to the Alaska State House representing West Anchorage, and in 2022 he was elected to the Alaska State Senate where he serves as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

In the latest series of legal proceedings that have commanded national attention, Jose Ibarra has been unanimously found guilty on all counts relating to the murder of Laken Riley, marking a definitive end to a case that has evoked shock and sadness throughout the nation. The verdict follows the investigation into the killing of young Laken Riley. The jury's decision to find Ibarra guilty couldn't help but prompt a greater reflection on the sanctity of human life and the harsh realities of crime in our country. In other political news, there has been a plea by an unnamed former FBI official, calling for President Joe Biden and the Senate Judiciary to perform an FBI background check on the controversial figure, Representative Matt Gaetz. This comes amid a whirlwind of intrigue and uncertainty surrounding the Florida Congressman, who has recently been at the heart of wide-ranging allegations of misconduct, all of which Gaetz has staunchly denied.Adding a layer of international shade to already intense political developments, the son of a jailed Hong Kong activist, Jack Smith, has urgently reached out to the international community, emphasizing that "time is running out." His father's incarceration stands as a stark symbol of eroding democratic freedoms in Hong Kong, Sir Smith's plea has added to the growing chorus of international concern and demand for action.Privacy and human rights have never been more under the spotlight as they have become primary areas of contention. In the dynamics of Smith's saga, the struggle for survival echoes in the back and forth of judicial confrontations and the seemingly endless politics of freedom.Between the solemn news of Ibarra's conviction, the burgeoning controversy surrounding Gaetz, and the desperate plea from Hong Kong, there is a common thread of a cry for justice, fairness and basic human decency. It is a reminder that each incident has a human face, a complex backstory, and significant implications for citizens around the world.Whether local or global, these recent stories continue in defining and pushing the narrative conversation in our society, highlighting that the quest for justice and truth remains ever compelling. As citizens and observers of these events unfold, we are all reminded of the profound pressures our institutions face and the significant trust we place in them to uphold justice and fairness.

The Justice Department ultimately decided last year not to pursue criminal charges against him. Plus, Sen. This information adds to the scrutiny of Thomas's luxury travel funded by friends with conservative ties. Thomas, criticized for not disclosing these trips, claims he followed the court's rules at the time, which have since been tightened to mandate such disclosures. His recent financial disclosures admitted an "inadvertent omission" of a hotel stay but omitted the private jet travel. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

A new bill could make ‘swatting' against public officials a felony in Minnesota

On Monday, the Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee will hear a bill that makes swatting public officials a felony. Swatting is when someone makes a false emergency call of a violent incident such as a mass shooting or bomb threat, prompting the dispatch of emergency responders. U.S. Congressman Tom Emmer, who lives in Delano, was swatted earlier this year, and according to the FBI, more than 550 swatting incidents have occurred across the country since May 2023. At least two innocent people have died as a result of swatting-- one was shot by officers, the other had a heart attack. In Minnesota, swatting calls that send first responders to the home of an elected official, judge, prosecuting attorney, employee of a correctional facility, or peace officer is currently a gross misdemeanor. As a felony, perpetrators would receive up to one year in prison and a $5,000 fine. GOP Senator Warren Limmer joined MPR News host Cathy Wurzer to break down the Senate swatting bill.

This episode is notable not just for cyberlaw commentary, but for its imminent disappearance from these pages and from podcast playlists everywhere.  Having promised to take stock of the podcast when it reached episode 500, I've decided that I, the podcast, and the listeners all deserve a break.  So I'll be taking one after the next episode.  No final decisions have been made, so don't delete your subscription, but don't expect a new episode any time soon.  It's been a great run, from the dawn of the podcast age, through the ad-fueled podcast boom, which I manfully resisted, to the market correction that's still under way.  It was a pleasure to engage with listeners from all over the world. Yes, even the EU!    As they say, in the podcast age, everyone is famous for fifteen people.  That's certainly been true for me, and I'll always be grateful for your support – not to mention for all the great contributors who've joined the podcast over the years   Back to cyberlaw, there are a surprising number of people arguing that there's no reason to worry about existential and catastrophic risks from proliferating or runaway AI risks.  Some of that is people seeking clever takes; a lot of it is ideological, driven by fear that worrying about the end of the world will distract attention from the dire but unidentified dangers of face recognition.  One useful antidote is the Gladstone Report, written for the State Department's export control agency. David Kris gives an overview of the report for this episode of the Cyberlaw Podcast. The report explains the dynamic, and some of the evidence, behind all the doom-saying, a discussion that is more persuasive than its prescriptions for regulation.   Speaking of the dire but unidentified dangers of face recognition, Paul Stephan and I unpack a New York Times piece saying that Israel is using face recognition in its Gaza conflict. Actually, we don't so much unpack it as turn it over and shake it, only to discover it's largely empty.  Apparently the editors of the NYT thought that tying face recognition to Israel and Gaza was all we needed to understand that the technology is evil.   More interesting is the story arguing that the National Security Agency, traditionally at the forefront of computers and national security, may have to sit out the AI revolution. The reason, David tells us, is that NSA's access to mass quantities of data for training is complicated by rules and traditions against intelligence agencies accessing data about Americans. And there are few training databases not contaminated with data about and by Americans.   While we're feeling sorry for the intelligence community as it struggles with new technology, Paul notes that Yahoo News has assembled a long analysis of all the ways that personalized technology is making undercover operations impossible for CIA and FBI alike.   Michael Ellis weighs in with a review of a report by the Foundation for the Defence of Democracies on the need for a US Cyber Force to man, train, and equip fighting nerds for Cyber Command.  It's a bit of an inside baseball solution, heavy on organizational boxology, but we're both persuaded that the current system for attracting and retaining cyberwarriors is not working. In the spirit of “Yes, Minister,” we must do something, and this is something.   In that same spirit, it's fair to say that the latest Senate Judiciary proposal for a “compromise” 702 renewal bill is nothing much – a largely phony compromise chock full of ideological baggage. David Kris and I are unimpressed, and surprised at how muted the Biden administration has been in trying to wrangle the Democratic Senate into producing a workable bill.   Paul and Michael review the latest trouble for TikTok – a likely FTC lawsuit over privacy. Michael and I puzzle over the stories claiming that Meta may have “wiretapped” Snapchat analytic data.  It comes from a trial lawyer suing Meta, and there are a lot of unanswered questions, such as whether users consented to the collection of the data.  In the end, we can't help thinking that if Meta had 41 of its lawyers review the project, they found a way to avoid wiretapping liability.   The most intriguing story of the week is the complex and surprising three- or four-cornered fight in northern Myanmar over hundreds of thousands of women trapped in call centers to run romance and pig-butchering scams.  Angry that many of the women and many victims are Chinese, China fostered a warlord's attack on the call centers that freed many women, and deeply embarrassed the current Myanmar ruling junta and its warlord allies, who'd been running the scams.  And we thought our southern border was a mess! And  in quick hits: ·         Elon Musk's X Corp has lost lawsuit against the left-wing smear artists at CCDH ·         AT&T has lost millions of customer records in a data breach ·         Utah has passed an:  AI regulation bill ·         The US is still in the cyber sanctions business, tagging several Russian fintech firms and a collection of  Chinese state hackers. ·         The SEC isn't done investigating SolarWinds; now it's investigating companies harmed by the supply chain attack. ·         Apple's reluctant compliance with EU law has attracted the expected EU investigation of its app store policies  App Store changes rejected: Apple could be fined 10% of global turnover ·         And in a story that will send chills through large parts of the financial and tech elite, it turns out that Jeffrey Epstein's visitor records didn't die with him.  Thanks to geolocation adtech, they can be reconstructed.

First in the House, and now in the Senate, Minnesota Democrats have refused to uphold our first American liberty - religious freedom. The whole point of the New World was escape from religious persecution. Now, Democrats in both chambers have betrayed that promise. As a reminder, last year, they added "gender identity" as a distinct protected class in the Human Rights Act without also adding it to the religious exemption. That had the effect of nullifying your First Amendment rights to religious expression and freedom of association. Churches can now be sued for refusing to hire a trans youth pastor, for instance.Religious groups and Republicans gave Democrats the maximum benefit of doubt, assuming the outcome had to be an oversight. We learned in a House Judiciary committee hearing recently that it was "not an oversight."That was a direct quote from Chair Becker-Finn. It was her intention, by her own admission, to violate her oath of office and conspire against the rights of Minnesotans. A growing list of Democrats in both chambers have affirmed the effect of that conspiracy, including every Democrat member of the House and Senate Judiciary committees, who have each taken an affirmative vote to deny Minnesotans their basic human rights. Soon, every single Democrat in both chambers will be presented with the binary choice to either uphold their oath or break it.Here's the call to action.Sign up to the Catholic Conference email list:https://mncatholic.orgSign up to the Minnesota Family Council email list:https://mfc.orgWatch your email and be ready to take political action when needed. Be ready to respond nimbly and in numbers. Organize your church, synagogue, mosque, and community.A particular word for my brothers and sisters in Christ: Now is the time to pause gospel navel-gazing. We don't need another sermon about how deeply God loves us, how assured we can be of salvation, or how important it is to pray for our enemies.Pray for victory! Then *act* like your God is worth serving. Have no doubt, this is your test. These people have told you to your face that you can not worship your God. To your face! They will not relent. Will you? Will you be Daniel with his windows open on the top floor facing Jerusalem, praying faithfully in defiance of King Darius. Or will you hide behind a false interpretation of "turn the other cheek" and let your children be taken into Babylonian captivity? You probably never imagined you'd be faced with such a choice. But brother, sister, it's here.---

SERIES 2 EPISODE 128: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: I think this fraudulent FBI 'whistleblower' who was arrested after confessing to making up the Hunter Biden story - Alexander Smirnov - the one who admitted the story was being spread by people connected to Russian intelligence?  I think he's flipping. I think there is one thin reed of evidence supporting what I admit is a hunch. Maybe a second one. More importantly, maybe, I think this man David Weiss who was - until Smirnov's story collapsed - the Special Counsel PROSECUTING Hunter Biden, has also flipped, and now intends to prosecute everybody who turned him into a Russian stooge, two steps removed. And I think he and Smirnov are going to take down at least the scum on the lower levels of the Russian Ring in this country (more likely the Russian operatives themselves, maybe James Comer, but just possibly running up the ladder to Jordan and Sean Hannity and, please God, Trump). But we're going to need a new Special Prosecutor to round all of the big names up. And a Senate Judiciary investigation on how this sack of crap was turned into the prosecution of the president's son, and the attempted impeachment of the sitting president. In an election year. At the direction of Vladimir Putin. We've been invaded again. And the Russians didn't need to shoot or bomb their way in here. Because all the Comers and Greenes and Jordans and Grassleys and Hannitys and Trumps just opened the doors for them. And may they burn in hell for doing so. Because I think Smirnov is flipping. B-Block (26:25) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: The Republicans select a California banker as their Wisconsin Senate candidate who's so non-Wisconsinian that in his introductory commercial he never SAYS which state he's running in. Jon Stewart is going to bothsides us into prison camps - and how DARE he attack Mary Trump. And how dare a Biden National Security Council spokesperson blame the betrayal of Ukraine on CONGRESS. It is the REPUBLICANS who did this. You are paid to say the truth - do your damn job. C-Block (33:25) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: I've played this before. I needed the laugh again. According to calculations, since 1887, Punxsutawney Phil has accurately predicted the winter weather just 39% of the time. Tommy Christopher of Mediaite writes: “Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is standing firm in the face of efforts to get her to step down from the blockbuster election crimes case against former President Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants. Trump and others have demanded DA Willis be removed from the 34-count felony election crimes case on the basis of allegations made in a court filing by one of Trump's co-defendants. Willis is accused of an “improper” relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, whom she hired as part of the Trump election crimes team. The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (02/01/2024): 3:05pm- On Wednesday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee. During Sen. Lindsey Graham's (R-SC) opening statement, he accused Zuckerberg of having blood on his hands—emphatically stating “you have a product that is killing people” as those in attendance applauded. Zuckerberg was also notably grilled by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO). Could strict regulations on social media be coming via new legislation? Though there is clearly bipartisan support for legislation to upend Section 230, government should not be in the business of regulating speech online—it ultimately leads to the censorship of American citizens expressing opinions contrary to mainstream narratives. 3:10pm- Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg publicly apologized to families negatively impacted by social media after being implored by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) to take accountability. Hawley, who notably wrote the “Tyranny of Big Tech” in 2021, has asserted that social media is one of the biggest threats to America. 3:15pm- A newly released Quinnipiac poll shows President Joe Biden with a 6-point national lead over Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Though, as Rich notes, the polling results may not be as problematic for Trump as the media is making it seem. First, the poll relied on “registered” voters, not “likely” voters. Plus, it's a national poll and doesn't consider state polling. According to a new Bloomberg News/Morning poll, Trump leads Biden in a hypothetical 2020 rematch by 3 to 10 points in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Nevada, Michigan, Georgia, and Arizona. Trump's projected lead expands even further when considering the third-party candidacies of Robert Kennedy Jr., Jill Stein, and Colonel West. 3:30pm- Heather Knight of The New York Times writes: “Fifteen months after city officials were ready to throw a party in the Noe Valley Town Square to celebrate funding for a tiny bathroom with a toilet and sink, nothing but mulch remains in its place. The toilet project broke down the minute taxpayers realized the city was planning an event to celebrate $1.7 million in state funds that local politicians had secured for the lone 150-square-foot structure. That's enough to purchase a single-family home in San Francisco—with multiple bathrooms. Even more confounding was the explanation that the tiny bathroom would take two to three years to install because of the city's labyrinthine permitting and building process. City leaders quickly canceled their potty party, and Gov. Gavin Newsom of California took back the funds.” You can read the full story about San Francisco's $1.7 million toilet here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/24/us/san-francisco-toilet.html 3:45pm- Bud-Light has announced a partnership with comedian Shane Gillis. Will the Gillis affiliation be enough for Bud-Light to bounce back from the criticism it received after working with transgender social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney. 4:05pm- Robby Soave of Reason writes: “There is no pastime more beloved by Congress than beating up on social media executives. On Wednesday, members of the Senate Judiciary Committee engaged in yet another round of fact-free histrionics as they thunderously denounced four tech CEOs—Meta's Mark Zuckerberg, X's Linda Yaccarino, Snapchat's Evan Spiegel, and Discord's Jason Citron—for a litany of allegedly unsafe business practices… Many of the Senate's anti-tech crusaders were present, including Republican Sens. Lindsey Graham (SC), Ted Cruz (TX), and Josh Hawley (MO), and Democratic Sens. Dick Durbin (IL), Amy Klobuchar (MN), and Richard Blumenthal (CT). Sen. Elizabeth Warren (MA) wasn't there, though she received several favorable shout-outs from the Republicans. Indeed, both sides of the political aisle were exceedingly pleased with themselves for acting in bipartisan fashion to wildly accuse four business leaders of complicity in despicable crimes against children… In order to obtain this control, senators from both parties have sponsored legislation to repeal or reform Section 230, the federal statute that protects internet companies from some liability. Section 230 was a frequent punching bag at the Wednesday hearing.” You can read the full article here: https://reason.com/2024/02/01/mark-zuckerberg-senate-hearing-graham-facebook/ 4:15pm- While appearing on CNN, Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) said: “I'm not going to protect Section 230 at the expense of children…if 230 has to go, it has to go.” Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act notably shields social media companies from liability for speech posted to their platforms. 4:35pm- David Propper of The New York Post writes: “A Montana family claims they lost custody of their 14-year-old child after opposing her interest in changing genders — and while the governor's office defended the move, it stressed to The Post that the state does not remove minors to provide gender transition services. The state's Child and Family Services (CFS) reportedly took custody of the teen from her father, Todd Kolstad, and stepmother, Krista, this month, leading the parents to speak out about how the action has ‘destroyed' their family and ‘trampled' their rights.” You can read the full report here: https://nypost.com/2024/01/30/news/montana-parents-lose-custody-of-daughter-after-opposing-transition-report/ 4:50pm- Rich opens the phone lines and gets flooded with off-topic calls—Matt is reprimanded. 5:05pm- On Wednesday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Though there is clearly bipartisan support for legislation to upend Section 230, government should not be in the business of regulating speech online—it ultimately leads to the censorship of American citizens expressing opinions contrary to mainstream narratives. 5:15pm- While speaking from the House floor, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) voiced her disagreement with proposed legislation that would allow for the deportation of undocumented migrants convicted of driving while intoxicated (DWI). She also implored society to stop referring to migrants who enter the U.S. unlawfully as “illegals.” 5:20pm- In audio leaked from The San Francisco Standard, Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) can be heard retelling a story about how he witnessed a theft while at Target, and how he reprimanded a worker for suggesting California isn't tough on crime. 5:30pm- Teri Hatcher, who was a “Bond-girl” in the film Tomorrow Never Dies, says she is officially done with online dating and is content with being single. 5:45pm- In his latest piece for The New York Post, George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley writes: “Hunter Biden is comparable to children in Japanese internment camps, to undocumented immigrants, to the murdered descendants of the Tsar. At least that's what he argues in a new court filing in his federal gun case, which presents Hunter as one of the most tragic figures since the fall of Troy. Literally. In a brief that borders on delusional, Biden's lawyers say the son of the president who burned through millions from influence peddling is comparable to all those unfortunate and destitute souls.” You can read the full article here: https://nypost.com/2024/01/31/opinion/hunter-biden-compares-self-to-a-romanov-a-migrant-child-and-a-greek-tragedy-in-delusional-court-filing/ 6:05pm- Rich is busy hosting a stand-up comedy show at Club 360 at Parx Casino tonight—so, Mike Opelka hosts hour 4 of the show! 6:10pm- Tomorrow is Groundhog Day! Just the News' John Solomon points out a clear pattern with Joe Biden. Biden said he had nothing to do with his son's business…yes, he did. He said the family never got money from China…yes, they did. He said he never met any of Hunter's business partners…yes, he did and regularly. He met with the Chinese and he met with Ukrainian officials —and the Oversight Committee has evidence of at least two dozen contacts in person or on the phone. Solomon says the real question is why did the DOJ, FBI and Treasury Departments see 170 suspicious activity banking reports, yet no one investigated Biden? There was a real protection racket in place, and it protected the Bidens from facing the application of the law. Conservatives and liberal ACLU are against renewal of the FISA Act. They realize the FBI has trampled the civil liberties of Americans for a very long time and that 702 has crushed Fourth Amendment rights. The FBI was spying on members of the House Judiciary Committee and the Senate Judiciary. SERIES 2 EPISODE 83: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT:  I'd like to apologize for what MSNBC has become. Again. I'd like to apologize AGAIN for what MSNBC has become. They fired Mehdi Hasan yesterday. He hosted one hour a week on Sunday nights and it might have been the best hour on the network because while I don't know that I agreed with even MOST of what he said, he wasn't doctrinaire and he didn't simply repeat what Maddow says and he didn't pretend to be a moderate because being a Trump propagandist didn't work out for him like Scarborough does and he didn't struggle to read a prompter full of Democratic Party talking points like Joy Reid does and to my knowledge he never fell asleep on the air like Andrea Mitchell does nor cause the viewer to fall asleep like Hayes and O'Donnell do. I do NOT know for certain why they fired him, I do NOT know if he said something about the Middle East they did not like, I do not know if the timing was coincidental. Let's put it this way: they either fired him for his Middle East opinions DURING conflict in the Middle East OR they fired him for something else DURING conflict in the Middle East and thus made themselves look guilty of firing him for his Middle East opinions anyway. Just as important as the continuing asinine and ignorant conduct of the management of MSNBC and NBC and NBC News is the issue of personal integrity of the people at what is god help us the closest thing to a liberal news network in this country. MORE important than the FIRING of Mehdi Hasan, is the response from MSNBC's stars about the firing of Mehdi Hasan. Want to read what Maddow and O'Donnell and Hayes and Wagner and Reid and everybody else said about this:   Wanna read it again? The POINT of HAVING the money IS that you SHOULD say "F YOU" to somebody at least once in your life. Not like Musk did; saying it to people who for some reason don't want their ads next to antisemitic and Pizzagate posts. But in DEFENSE of something. FOR something. If there are three people at NBC – hell, three people in NEWS – three people in TELEVISION – who can at least get away with a loud pointed protest – hell, can get away with saying “If Mehdi Hasan goes or if Tiffany Cross goes or if we keep diluting our product down to badly rewritten Democratic Party press releases, we're on strike” – if there are THREE people in media – besides like Taylor Swift - who can say “We are standing on our principles” and will LIVE TO TELL ABOUT IT, it's Chris Hayes and Lawrence O'Donnell. Of course – you've gotta HAVE principles. ALSO the Judge Engoron Trump gag order is back in place and Trump is still endangering the judge, his wife, and now his son. And Politico says the editorial that provoked Trump to revive the self-own "I will kill ObamaCare" not only revivified the ISSUE; it revivified Biden's campaign. Emails went out within hours. Nancy Pelosi got on a press call Tuesday. Biden hit Trump on video Wednesday. Commercials are already running on the state level. And then the Wall Street Journal ran another editorial on ObamaCare… attacking… TRUMP. For his failure to repeal AND his failed response to their first editorial. Whereupon Trump replied by attacking… the Wall Street Journal by calling the paper quote “Globalist” and the Editorial Page a “mess.” The Editorial Page whose editorial about ObamaCare got him so excited that he again vowed to replace ObamaCare and thus revitalized the Biden campaign and I haven't fully diagrammed this bizarre confluence of events but I think the gist of it is: if Biden is re-elected we can thank… The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board? B-Block (31:46) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: House Judiciary subpoenas Harlan Crow and Leonard Leo and enrages GOP. Good. Wanna guess how many copies Marjorie Greene's book sold in its first week? You need only three digits. And Henry Kissinger is dead. Are we certain? (37:35) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Even The Daily Caller has fired Tucker Carlson. Lanah Burkhardt and book banning for fun and profit. And Three's Company: Florida GOP Chief accused of sexual battery by a woman who says she and he and his wife - who is the co-founder of Moms For Liberty - had a long-standing menage-a-trois polygamy thing going on. Oh so it's THAT kind of liberty! Moms for three-ways! C-Block (44:32) FRIDAYS WITH THURBER: The first time I've ever read aloud Thurber's death-by-a-thousand-cuts critique of Salvador Dali's autobiography. "The Secret Life Of James Thurber."See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 4: While appearing on CNBC, Target CEO Brian Cornell bizarrely blamed conservatives for creating an unsafe environment in stores following the retail chain's sale of transgender swimwear marketed towards children. Unable to name an instance of violence, Cornell claimed that conservatives threatened to burn merchandise, which never ultimately occurred. While speaking with Laura Ingraham on Fox News, former Democrat presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard noted that LGBTQIA+ activists who support Palestine are ideologically confused. Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI) began a Senate Judiciary hearing by congratulating judicial nominees and then immediately asking them if they have ever been accused of sexual harassment. Chris Del Borrello—Republican candidate for New Jersey State Senate representing the 4th District—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his campaign in one of the most important elections across the entire state. Can Republicans take control of the state Senate on November 7th? Jersey Freedom, a political organization, has spent tens-of-thousands of dollars backing third party candidates in hopes of diluting the Republican vote in New Jersey's November 7th election. The ad campaign even included endorsements for candidates that have withdrawn from their races. In response, New Jersey Republican Party sued—alleging that the organization has violated campaign finance reporting laws by shielding donor information. On Friday, “Superior Court Judge Michael Blee said that Jersey Freedom may make no further expenditures in New Jersey, but acknowledged that with Election Day just five days away, his decision might be too late to matter,” according to a report from David Wildstein of The New Jersey Globe. The decision comes after surveillance videos showed a woman stuffing what appeared to be absentee ballots into an outdoor ballot box days before the original primary. Superior Court Judge William Clark determined the allegations of possible malfeasance warrant throwing out the results of the Sept. 12 primary, which incumbent Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim won by 251 votes out of 8,173 cast. Absentee ballots secured his margin of victory.” You can read Haigh's full article: https://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/judge-orders-new-bridgeport-mayoral-primary-after-surveillance-videos-show-possible-ballot-stuffing/3138308/ 3:20pm- On Monday, a Colorado District Court heard opening arguments in a legal case challenging Donald Trump's eligibility to appear on Colorado presidential ballots in 2024. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics argues that former President Donald Trump is disqualified from holding office under the Fourteenth Amendment's insurrection clause—alleging that Trump incited an insurrection on January 6th, 2021. Could the case ultimately end up before the Supreme Court of the United States? 3:25pm- According to a new Quinnipiac University poll, in a hypothetical three-way 2024 presidential race between Democrat Joe Biden, Republican Donald Trump, and Independent Robert F. Kennedy—Kennedy would win an astonishing 22% of the vote. The poll shows Trump would earn 36%, while President Biden would net 39%. 3:50pm- CNN's Manu Raju asked Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) why he pleaded guilty to pulling a fire alarm in the Cannon House Office Building last month if it was simply an accident—as Bowman has continually claimed. In pleading guilty to falsely pulling a fire alarm at a congressional office building, Rep. Bowman will have to pay a $1,000 fine, serve a three-month probation, and write a letter of apology. 4:05pm- House Republicans have passed a bill that would provide Israel with $14.3 billion in aid while simultaneously providing budgetary cuts that would make it deficit neutral. In a post to the social media platform X, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said that the U.S. Senate would not even consider the bill because it separates funding from Ukraine and includes cuts to the IRS that he views as undesirable. 4:10pm- On Friday, the House of Representatives voted to cut funding to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by 39%—the vote was 213 to 203 along mostly party lines with Republican Congressmen Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Mike Lawler (R-NY), and Marc Molinaro (R-NY) voting against the bill. This bill illustrates new Speaker of the House Mike Johnson's (R-LA) determination to slash federal government spending. Failure to abide by this directive shall result in serious sanctions,' Engoron warned.” You can read Shabad's full report here: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/judge-trumps-civil-fraud-trial-expands-gag-order-include-former-presid-rcna123587 4:20pm- Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) is calling to ban Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) from future attendance in national security meetings. Menendez has been charged with acting as a foreign agent for Egypt and with accepting bribes in exchange for influence. 4:30pm- Dr. Victoria Coates— Former Deputy National Security Advisor & the Vice President of the Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy at The Heritage Foundation—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss pro-Palestine protests at Philadelphia's 30th Street Station on Thursday night in which twenty-five people were detained by police. Circuit court of appeals also expedites the case.” You can read more here: https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/4292877-appeals-court-trump-gag-order-election-interference/ 5:55pm- In a video message posted to social media, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced his latest campaign pledge: to create an online, national university that would provide free access to higher education for all Americans. 6:05pm- While appearing on CNBC, Target CEO Brian Cornell bizarrely blamed conservatives for creating an unsafe environment in stores following the retail chain's sale of transgender swimwear marketed towards children. And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma watch the FBI's telling “Run. Hide. Jane McAlevey then joins as she walks Sam and Emma through her experiences working in, and writing about the labor organizing process, from her time with the AFL-CIO in the ‘90s through her multiple texts that attempt to address the disconnect between labor mobilization and labor organizing, and understanding organizing as community outreach rather than focusing on those already aligned with your goals. Next, McAlevey dives into the challenges of the unionization process, with union-busting remaining prevalent well after a successful vote and throughout the bargaining processes, the importance of having community support and solidarity to bolster the long and draining battle, and the networks community organizing can create. She also looks to the case studies that she explores in her books, tackling the importance of building on worker knowledge and transparency in the bargaining process, and before they wrap up the interview by walking through the recent renaissance of labor consciousness in the US, the importance of youth labor activists, the future of labor action, and why capitalists want more of the gig economy. And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma dive a little deeper into the WGA strike and the impact of the streaming era on labor compensation, Nancy Mace's stance on Ron DeSantis' Florida abortion ban, Rudy Giuliani giving away the game on legal disenfranchisement, and Fox's post-woke fantasies of the future for Elon's Twitter. The press secretary for Arizona Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs resigned Wednesday morning after appearing to suggest gun violence against "transphobes" just hours after a woman who identified as transgender gunned down six people at a Tennessee school. An activist group is due to hold a "Trans Day of Vengeance" demonstration outside the Supreme Court on Saturday, warning against "astronomical amounts of hate from the world."
