After some time away, we're back! Bob and Axel and joined in-studio with special guest, Lain, who will join them throughout the summer to talk about tv, film, and pop culture. The show is in need of a female voice, and now it has it! The Alex's are gone for now, but not forgotten. They'll be back as soon as we can sort out the scheduling! On today's show, the group discuss a few films they're going to see this summer (despite how bad they might turn out), as well as "Bash Brothers," a new 30-minute Lemonade-style visual poem from The Lonely Island. Today on The Add to List Podcast, Game of Thrones, Season 8, Episode 5: The Bells... When an Alex joins the podcast, The Gods flip a coin. Well, the coin never fell, and is resting on its side. Both Alex's join Bob and Axel to discuss of the penultimate Game of Thrones episode, make predictions about the finale, and briefly touch on what this season does to the Game of Thrones legacy moving forward. twitter: @addtolistpod • email: info@addtolistpodcast.com
All FOUR of us jump on a Skype call and talk through this episode. The Alex Illusion is broken, as both Original Recipe Alex and Neckbeard Alex join Axel and Bob to discuss Game of Thrones, Season 8, "The Bells." We'll be back later in the week with our full reaction/review pod, so stay tuned. If you enjoy this show, be sure to subscribe, download, rate, and review us. Original Recipe Alex (you'll recognize him from our pre-GoT shows) is in for Neckbeard Alex, who will return before the Finale, so don't you worry. Today's show is our longest episode yet. If you're not hyped for long podcasts, sorry not sorry; we believe this episode of Thrones deserved a lot of discussion. Also, we had some technical hiccups so the sound quality is not the best, unfortunately, so you'll hear some dropouts (crackling), but it won't affect your ability to hear what we're saying--but it'll be annoying. Sorry actually we are sorry. But what can we say? WE'RE TRYING OKAY! *sobbing in the background* What we can't and won't apologize for is how despite lots of seemingly interesting things happen in The Last of the Starks, none of it stands up to logical scrutiny. Why does Varys confuse stress with madness? Why is Tyrion still so bad at his job now, but Qyburn and Euron are the fucking Bash Bros of King's Landing? How did 1/2 of the Winterfell forces survive, OH, and who the eff is this new Prince of Dorne? What's his freaking name? AND WHAT HAPPENED TO SCOUTS AND AIR SUPERIORITY?! EFFING W.M.D.s MAN! Arg. We make our predictions for next week and try to figure out who dies. Finally, today's Add to List Podcast is brought to you by Endswell Bar & Bistro in Fort Green Brooklyn. Eat well, drink well, live well, Endswell. And finally, if you enjoy the show, and you haven't already, subscribe to the show. You can reach us @addtolistpod on Twitter, info@addtolistpodcast.com.
Original Recipe Alex is back (you'll recognize his voice from our True Detective Season 3 Shows) and if this doesn't make sense to you... too bad. Alex is more than a man, he's a mantle. That's all we can say on the matter. Bob, Alex, and O.R. Alex give their instant reactions to the episode. We got on a call immediately after we finished watching, so everything we say is more silly and more unfiltered than usual. If you want to wait for our proper reaction pod later this week, skip this, it's no big deal! But we wanted to give you ppl something to listen to RIGHT AWAY! WOW. A wild episode with an appropriately energized podcast to follow. Axel hosts today's show, allowing Bob to go off on some more tangents and make more bad analogies, and Alex brings some neckbeard theory-craft, as per usual. The podcast is halved, so you're listening to PART 1 of a two-part discussion. Check in later this week (Thursday morning, fingers crossed) for PART 2, where the guys make take some detours through the magic that is or isn't present in the HBO GoT Universe, make some predictions about the rest of the season, and level set the dead pool. If you've been following along with our death predicitions, then you know everyone has done rather poorly up to this point... Wow, what a premier... or was it? The ATL boys have some thoughts on what went well and what went wrong with the Season 8 Premier of Game of Thrones. With only five more episodes remaining, they find the good bits of this episode, but have trouble understanding why the premier was a mix between end of summer camp farewells and an awkward holiday get together at the Starks'! WHY SO MUCH DRAMA! DON'T YOU KNOW THE WORLD'S GOING TO END IF YOU CAN'T GET PAST YOUR BULLSH!T?! This episode of The Add to List Podcast is brought to you by Endswell Bar & Bistro, opening May 2019, located at 773 Fulton Street in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn. Keep an eye out for Endswell's grand opening and stop by for brunch, cocktails, and a tremendous small-bites menu. That's right, The ATL Pod is returning to television reactions and reviews! This episode is one part series recap through season 7, one part looking forward to what's to come in season 8, and two parts mocking of the GoT television universe. You know what they say: the most passionate fans hate the things they love. They say that about Star Was, anyway. This was one of the most fun episodes to record, but the conversation is not what you might call politically correct. I guess we can leave it a that. Enjoy this GoT Preview Episode, enjoy this final season of Game of Thrones, and come back for our episode reaction shows in the weeks to come! The guys dive deep into Selling Sunset, a new-ish reality TV docu-soap/docu-drama on Netflix. There's some Love, Death + Robots talk, as well as an anime recommendation for Axel. To start the show, Bob let's himself be gaslighted by Alex and Axel, and opens up about how being a dog owner is great, but different and not for everyone. Oh and Axel says protagonist at least twice; no lesson learned from last week. Today on the Add to List Podcast: The guys tackle two "climbing" movies. Climbing is actually in air-quotes because it's unclear whether or not these two films are about climbing or if climbing is just a superficial backdrop for a deeper examination of the human condition *eye roll*. The films are FREE SOLO (2018) and CLIFFHANGER (1993)! This is another long episode... but sometimes cleaning the apartment on a weekend takes a long time and you need that content to just fill the silence! Time stamps below if only one of these films interest you. 0:00 Show Start 2:39 Free Solo 39:32 Cliffhanger
On today's episode, the guys combine two fun gimmicks into one long ass show about Spider Man: Into the Spider Verse and Spider-Man 3, arguably best an worst Spider-Man movies ever made (@addtolistpod if you disagree). They tried a new recording setup, and unfortunately, Bob and Axel decided to eat their mics for the whole show. Chalk it up to growing pains!
Add to List is back with a packed out show. Our True Detective pilot season is over, so what did we talk about? Captain Marvel hit theaters last week, so naturally, we decided to see ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL on it's last day in theaters — well, last day in our local theater, anyway. Before getting to that, we cold open the show with an impromptu roast of Blue Man Group Will Smith as the Genie in Disney's upcoming Aladdin live action adaptation, before giving our final final final thoughts on True Detective Season 3. After that - a more sobering conversation about Leaving Neverland, the HBO documentary about Michael Jackson's alleged abuse of two young boys who have finally come forward years later to tell their stories. Then, we have a little fun with the Game of Thrones trailer and pick at Netflix's Umbrella Academy before diving into Alita: Battle Angel to close the show. SPOILER ALERT for everything we discuss. If some but not all of those topics interest you, time codes are below. Enjoy the show! Aladdin cold open (0:11) • Show Intro (3:41) • True Detective Final Thoughts (06:23) • Leaving Neverland (9:45) • Game of Thrones Trailer (33:08) • Umbrella Academy (45:51) • Alita: Battle Angel (58:34) Social media is kinda dead for now, we need a GenZ'r to manage it for us... but follow us anyway at @addtolistpod on Twitter or email the show at info@addtolistpodcast.com!
PRE SHOW NOTE ANNOUNCEMENT! Now that True Detective Season Three is done, the Add to List Boys will take a brief hiatus while they settle on a new project. It'll be TV or Film related to be certain, but for more info, stay subscribed and follow on Twitter @addtolistpod. Thanks for listening… WE WILL BE BACK SOOOON! -- In this True Detective Season 3 Finale discussion, the Add to List Boys meticulously dissect nearly every scene of the episode, spending far too much time on Wayne's encounter with Edward Hoyt, Mr. June's exposition dump, and the West Finger Runaway Jetstream. If your favorite type of podcast includes exhaustive conversation and low speaking voices, this is the episode for you!
This week, the boys are jet lagged after a trip. Bob and Alex are calling in from Japan.
This week, Axel realizes he was just “too lit” during his viewing to pick up on some of the more subtle queues of this episode, Bob entertains some trigger discipline nitpicks, and Alex surprisingly jumps all over the half-baked “Slow-playin' Wayne” theory from last week. Also, the guys are mean to Axel… again… and drag their way through a painfully long segment of “Theories/WTF is Going On?” All this and more on Add to List: TRUE DETECTIVE!
True Detective, Season 3, Episode 5: "Hunters in the Dark" On this week's episode, Alex graciously accepts his win (by Price is Right rules, of course) for guessing the correct number of casualties at Brett's, Axel mansplains the legalese of "discovery," and Bob takes pity on all the real life cops who work in the evidence locker, since their TV counterparts set the bar very, very low. All this, plus our show recap & reactions, our attempts to unravel the mystery surrounding Julie's disappearance, and some much deserved praise for Old Man Dorff.
The one where Bob is wrong about the body count. Axel think Henry be cheating and Alex just wants to see the mysterious "Aunt" with the brown luxury vehicle. A question for listeners: Is Arkansas "stand your ground" friendly?
Choc-full-o misdirects in The Big Never, Bob recaps Episode 3 of True Detective Season 3. Alex & Axel react and discuss their theories and predictions.
Bob, Alex, and Axel discuss Florida-Man, recap the first two True Detective Season 3 episodes: The Great War And Modern Memory & Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye, and the etiquette of eating salad on camera.
