All right, let's do this one last time. My name is Peter Parker. I was bitten by a radioactive Podcast, and for ten years I've been the one and only Podcast-Man. I'm pretty sure you know the rest. I saved a bunch of people, fell in love, saved the city, and then I saved the city again... and again and again and again. And I, uh... I did this. Join the Gang as they discuss Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse! Join the Gang as they discuss Oceans 8! We do not own any music used, this film is in no way affiliated with this podcast. uh, copyright stuff. Idk.
While Fangirls Going Rogue started with a combined love of the Star Wars films, it is undeniable that the animated shows have been a crucial part of our journey with the franchise. When Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The LEGO Movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse) penned their op-ed in Variety following the year's Oscars slight of animation, it provided a topic near and dear to the team. Teresa Delgado, Sarah Woloski, and Tricia Barr sit down to discuss why animation and film are symbiotic art forms, and why Star Wars proves that point. Stay tuned to the end for an important announcement. Following the release of the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, which shows Foster wielding Mjolnir and in her costume, Marvel put out a plot synopsis for the Marvel Cinematic Universe film. The plot synopsis officially calls Foster "Mighty Thor." Additionally, the press release for a Marvel Legends figure of Foster's God of Thunder refers to her as "mighty Thor." Both also confirm she indeed wields Mjolnir. You can see images of the Marvel Legends Mighty Thor figure, which ties into the upcoming movie, below. The six-inch figure features four accessories and a Build-a-Figure part. Thor 4 Trailer Features One of the Most Comic Book-Accurate Scenes the MCU's Ever Shot https://www.cbr.com/thor-4-trailer-comics-accurate-mcu-scene-marvel/ Marvel Studios released the first teaser trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, which featured one of the most comics-accurate shots to date in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Shown briefly in the teaser trailer, the shot depicts Chris Hemsworth's Thor and Taika Waititi's Korg standing atop a rock overlooking the corpse of a god who, in the comics, was identified as Falligar the Behemoth and died at the hands of Gorr the God Butcher. While Thor is alone in the comics, the shot from the trailer is an almost exact recreation of a panel that appeared in Thor: God of Thunder Vol. 1 #3 as the third part of the God Butcher arc. Released in December 2012, the issue was written by Jason Aaron, drawn by Esad Ribić and colored by Ive Svorcina. Marvel Sleuths Believe a Character Was Digitally Scrubbed From the Thor 4 Trailer https://www.cbr.com/thor-love-and-thunder-fans-character-scrubbed-trailer/ Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe suspect that a key character has been edited out of the Thor: Love and Thunder teaser trailer. The shot in question appears at the 37-second mark of the video, shortly after the section where the Guardians of the Galaxy are seen leaving Thor and Korg behind on a debris-ridden platform. Many fans have pointed to the framing of the scene, which appears to be too wide to show just two characters. Some are suggesting that the extra length of the frame and the empty space next to Thor is evidence that Marvel Studios has digitally removed a character from the trailer. Nebula's Backstory Would Make Cool Disney+ Show, Says Karen Gillan https://screenrant.com/nebula-marvel-disney-plus-show-backstory-karen-gillan/ Karen Gillan thinks Nebula's backstory would make for a cool Disney+ show after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Marvel Studios received a new path to expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Phase 4 with the launch of Disney's streaming service in 2019. Disney+ has so far been used to elevate supporting characters like Scarlet Witch or Falcon and introduce major new heroes, such as Moon Knight. There are many upcoming MCU Disney+ shows that meet these criteria and explore different corners of the massive franchise. ‘Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse' Heads To Summer 2023; Sony Dates ‘Madame Web', ‘Equalizer 3' Among Other Release Changes https://deadline.com/2022/04/spider-man-across-the-spider-verse-summer-2023-theatrical-release-sony-release-date-changes-1235007010/ Sony's animated sequel to the Oscar winning movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is moving from Oct. 7 this year to June 2, 2023. After being asked by a fan on Twitter when Moon Knight takes place in the MCU timeline, Slater admitted the lack of a firm premiere date during production forced the creative team to keep the show's place in the timeline unclear. "A lot of people have asked [about when Moon Knight takes place in the MCU], but I have no idea, sorry," Slater wrote. "We didn't know when our show would debut in relation to their other shows and films, so the timeline was intentionally left vague." Tom Hiddleston and ‘Loki' Will Avoid Emmys Mischief by Submitting in These Categories (EXCLUSIVE) https://variety.com/2022/awards/news/tom-hiddleston-loki-emmys-submissions-1235231497/ Hawkeye and Moon Knight are competing as “Limited Series” According to the Television Academy rules and regulations, the criteria to compete in limited series: “The program must tell a complete, non-recurring story, and not have an ongoing storyline or main characters in subsequent seasons.” Aside from “Hawkeye” and “Moon Knight” competing in limited series, Marvel also has the anthology series “What If…?” that was created by A.C. Bradley. However, it will compete for outstanding animated program. Disney+ Working To Restore Access After Episodes Of Original Series Including ‘Agent Carter' Went Missing https://deadline.com/2022/04/disney-plus-restore-access-episodes-original-series-missing-1235005673/ UPDATED: Disney+ subscribers binging series from the streamer's library on Monday discovered that a number of episodes were not available. Affected titles are said to include Duck Tales, Agent Carter, X-Men, Lizzie McGuire, Owl House and Rocket & Groot. Fans took to reddit and other online platforms to share their frustration and also reached out to Disney. Disney+'s response, as relayed by customers online and verified by sources to Deadline, is that the purge of episodes was accidental, due to a technical issue. The company has been working to resolve the glitch and access to the missing episodes is expected to be restored within the hour, I hear. UPDATE 11 AM: I now hear that the fix is taking longer and the MIA episodes may not be fully restored before end of day today. We will update the story when all impacted episodes are back on the service. “We are actively working to resolve the issue impacting access to a subset of series episodes for some Disney+ subscribers,” the company said in a statement to Deadline. “We are sorry for the experience and appreciate everyone's patience.” Netflix rocked by subscriber loss, may offer cheaper ad-supported plans https://www.reuters.com/technology/netflix-subscribers-fall-first-time-decade-forecasts-more-losses-2022-04-19/ INHUMANS Inhumans Star Iwan Rheon Wants to Return to Marvel https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/inhumans-tv-series-return-iwan-rheon-maximus-marvel-cinematic-universe/ At one point in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there was limitless potential for the Inhumans, though what was originally conceived to be a movie was reimagined as Marvel's Inhumans TV series, which was met with disappointment from both audiences and critics alike. Even with the underwhelming response to the project, Maximus actor Iwan Rheon would love to continue his journey with the character, though he'd also be happy to take on another role if it meant a return to the MCU in any capacity. Rheon can currently be seen in Barbarians, which is in theaters and On Demand now. "I'll take anything really. I'd love to have another crack at -- I'd love to do Maximus again," Rheon shared with ComicBook.com when discussing how he'd like to return to the MCU. "I think he's a really interesting character. And also I feel a bit sorry for him, because he is just stuck on the Moon still, but yeah, I'd love to do any of that stuff. Anything. I'm not fussy, give me anything." This week we review the semi-recent blockbuster release, "Spider-Man: No Way Home." This episode was a little more improvised than most because we decided to review it right before we recorded for our previous episode, the review for "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" (check that out too, if you haven't already). - Which did each co-host like better, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" or "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse"? - Which actor did one co-host say was a highlight of the movie? - How did the co-hosts feel about the villains and the plan to cure them rather than kill them? - How did the co-hosts feel about an important character death? - How did the co-hosts feel about the movie pointing out the different types of web shooters (biological vs. mechanical)? - What were the main complaints about Doctor Strange? - What are a couple co-hosts' issues with the ending of the movie? - And, what did the co-hosts feel about the magic spell that causes all the mayhem? Listen now for the answers to these and other web-slinging questions. Grab your costume, mask, web-shooters (if yours are mechanical), inter-dimensional friends, and cures for all your villains, as we thwip up a review of "Spider-Man: No Way Home." Personal Note: We're sorry for the recent delay in episodes. An episode that we've now recorded and that should be coming soon will help explain why we've been a little distracted lately. This week, we review the animated movie, "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse." - What were the co-hosts' favorite characters? - What did the co-hosts have to say about collecting Spider-Man comic books? - What are some of the technical & artistic techniques used to make the movie look like a comic book brought to life? - What did the co-hosts have to say about the music & sound in the movie? - Which character's design was one co-host's biggest complaint? - Which co-hosts quibbled a little about information overload, visually; and which co-host had no complaints at all? - Was Kingpin a sympathetic character at all -- because of having a wife & kid and despite his villainy? - What nitpicks did the co-hosts have about the multiverse collider machine? - Which co-host has a new microphone? - Which co-host defended depth & emotion in the movie? - What did Dave's kids think about the movie? - And, which movie had to be substituted into the rotation when it was discovered that "Young Frankenstein" is not streaming...anywhere? Listen now for the answers to these and other web-slinging questions. Grab your costume, web-shooters, inter-dimensional friends, cartoon hammer, Rubik's cube, and a thumb-drive-shutdown-key-thing someone awkwardly refers to as a goober, as we crawl up a review of "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse." He was 71. Hurt's death was confirmed to Variety by his friend, Gerry Byrne. His son Will said in a statement, “It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father and Oscar winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday. He died peacefully, among family, of natural causes.” Hurt was nominated for four Oscars over the course of his long career, scoring two best actor nominations for “Broadcast News” and “Children of a Lesser God” and a supporting actor nod for less than 10 minutes of screen time in “A History of Violence.” He was one of the most heralded performers of the 1980s, becoming something of a cerebral sex symbol and a reluctant, albeit bankable, movie star. Hurt later transitioned into character roles in the 1990s and successfully alternated between big screen projects and television, scoring Emmy nominations for his work as a whistleblower in “Damages” and his portrayal of Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson in “Too Big to Fail.” More recently, Hurt became well known to a younger generation of movie lovers with his portrayal of the no-nonsense General Thaddeus Ross in 2008's “The Incredible Hulk.” He later reprised the role in “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Avengers: Endgame” and “Black Widow.” MCU – MARVEL STUDIOS Box Welcome Lindsey Olivares to chat about specificity in design, the art of caricature, clarity in comedy, and production and character designing for The Mitchells vs. The Machines. More about The Mitchells vs the Machines From the humans who brought you the Academy Award®-winning Spider Man: Into the Spider-Verse and The LEGO Movie comes The Mitchells vs. The Machines, an animated action-comedy about an ordinary family who find themselves in the middle of their biggest family challenge yet…saving the world from the robot apocalypse. No big deal, right? It all starts when creative outsider Katie Mitchell is accepted into the film school of her dreams and is eager to leave home and find “her people,” when her nature-loving dad insists on having the whole family drive her to school and bond during one last totally not-awkward-or-forced road trip. But just when the trip can't get any worse, the family suddenly finds itself in the middle of the robot uprising! Everything from smart phones, to roombas, to evil Furbys are employed to capture every human on the planet. Now it's up to the Mitchells, including upbeat mom Linda, quirky little brother Aaron, their squishy pug, Monchi, and two friendly, but simple minded robots to save humanity. More about Lindsey Olivares She is the production designer and lead character designer on Sony Pictures Animation's Academy Award®-nominated feature “The Mitchells vs. The Machines." Our unofficial fourth member of the Triad, Josie Marie from Film Posers joins us once again! Today we dive into those other nerd-whimsies we also claim to talk about, by taking a break from Star Wars and talking EVERYTHING about what has been the biggest movie in of the COVID era: SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME! So many things to discuss! From returning epic villains like Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin and Alfred Molina's Doc Ock, to teased Spider-Men Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield who make their triumphant returns! This movie follows Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Loki in blowing the lid off of the multiverse and opening endless possibilities for storytelling. With so many familiar faces stepping through the multiverse, we discuss their function as fan service and how it can be done right when it serves the narratives purposes. This was such a fun movie and as usual with Josie, we had a great conversation. We can't wait to see what the future of the Spider-Man universe holds! • • • Triad of the Force is a channel featuring Nani, Gus, and Moe, three lifelong Puerto Rican friends who after years of discussing the media they love, have finally come together and created their show. To follow Jesus takes a lot of faith - to trust in something we can't yet see. We use faith all the time in our daily lives and it's up to us where we put that faith - why would we put our faith in God? The movie Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse helps us set the stage for what God wants to share about faith in our lives.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is such an underrated gem. I know I say that a lot, but it is. Adults fall into the trap of seeing a bright, colourful, funny animated movie, and assuming it's "just for children" (as we know from the Verbal Diorama mantra, animation is not just for children!), but also because it is a bright, colourful, funny animated movie that just happens to masquerade as something way more deep and meaningful than its looks or title might suggest. There's a serious undercurrent of childhood bullying and the insecurities that stem from that, workplace sexism, waste culture, greed and excess, the fast food epidemic and obesity as well as the environmental crisis we all find ourselves in. Plus, we can all relate to wanting to make that one person proud, who doesn't seem to truly understand us. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, in their writing & directorial debut, gave us something really special to chew on here. It's yummy, and would foreshadow their greatness to come... Filmmaking team Phil Lord and Chris Miller have been making movies together for years. “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” “21 Jump Street,” and “The Lego Movie” are just some of their many credits. In 2017 they were fired from the Star Wars spinoff movie “Solo,” but bounced back with an Oscar for Best Animated Feature with “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” And they're currently working on the two sequels for that. Meanwhile, they've just dropped the murder-mystery spoof “The Afterparty” on Apple TV+. Chris Miller admits it's a lot. “The trick is not to sleep,” Miller says. “There were days when we were shooting ‘The Afterparty' where — I have pictures of Phil in a field with a laptop, rewriting a scene for ‘Spider-Verse.' … That's the kind of balancing act we have to do to try and make these things be as good as they can be.”

The film was written, designed and directed by three-time Emmy winner Alberto Mielgo (Love Death + Robots' The Witness, Tron: Uprising) and produced by Mielgo and veteran character designer Leo Sanchez (The Croods: A New Age, Over the Moon, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, Tangled). In some ways, Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) represents the zenith of the modern pop-culture superhero craze. While it's certainly better than any film of this sort has any right to be, it's also not as good as that Rotten Tomatoes score would lead you to believe. There is a certain logic that is absent from the core mechanics of how the “multiverse” is supposed to work. But what Spider-Man sacrifices in the way of coherency, it more than makes up for in the way of generating pathos. The real draw of Spider-Man: No Way Home is the chance to see the three modern cinematic incarnations of Spider-Man all playing in the same sandbox at the same time. Perhaps the reason Spider-Man: No Way Home seems stale has to do with the fact that this story has already been told in a much more interesting fashion, and recently. There is little doubt that 2018's Academy Award-winning animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse played a significant role in the trajectory the current live-action Spider-Man films are now taking. But where Sony's hit wowed critics and audiences alike with the limitless flair of animation, Disney's live-action version of the dimension-hopping Spider-Men looks like any of the other CGI-laden superhero blockbusters of recent years. And in the context of the previous narratives that Spider-Man: No Way Home tries to tie off, what results is something worse than cynicism — sentimentality, the reducing of complexity to trite cliché, preying on nostalgia, the trading on emotion for the sake of emotion, and that is the currency with which this film pays dividends. Spider-Man: No Way Home is a film just about anyone can sit down and enjoy. No one can accuse these kinds of films of being poorly made; studios throw too much money at them for that. But when it comes to substance, depth, texture, and contradiction, the thinking filmgoer will be left wanting. This Postmodern Realities episode is a conversation with Journal author Cole Burgett about his online-exclusive article, “Spider-Man: No Way Home and the Emotional Cheapening of the Modern Blockbuster.“ https://www.equip.org/article/spider-man-no-way-home-and-the-emotional-cheapening-of-the-modern-blockbuster/Please note this article will be fully accessible by the public in the future, to get early access to read it now, please see our FAQ section on Early Access to Online-Exclusive Articles by clicking here. https://www.equip.org/early-access-to-online-exclusive-articles-faqs/We'd also like to invite you to subscribe to the Journal.
