Back in February, there was an article released by the https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/colleges/proposed-legislation-would-give-maryland-college-athletes-the-right-to-unionize/2019/02/07/d3f80368-2b0c-11e9-984d-9b8fba003e81_story.html?utm_term=.826168221b3e (Washington Post) that explained that the state of Maryland has proposed a bill that would give athletes the right to unionize and collectively bargain over issues related to health and safety, as well as compensation. This was as a result of the death of Jordan McNair. This is not only relevant to our previous bonus episode on the Maryland case itself, but it also is an area of expertise for Tammi Gaw MS ATC Esq. in her practice of law. We thought it would be advantageous to discuss the details of unionization and what it means for players to form a union and how it may impact the Athletic Trainer's work with them. Tammi has been gracious enough to share some serious insight and wisdom on this topic. As a result, we should all be more well informed and be able to speak to the subject more intelligently as things progress. Music by Mr. Logistix (@https://soundcloud.com/buuk_werm (buuk_werm)).
