In this episode, Johanna and Nathan are joined by one of our all-time favorite journalists and a repeat guest: Joel Anderson from Slate. Joel came on to expand on his argument for what prospective Black athletes might do regarding Florida from his February 13th episode of Hang Up and Listen in the "Afterball" segment. We begin by laying the landscape of the FL state's discriminatory policies, including the proposed HB 999 legislation that aims to ban Gender Studies, gives faculty hiring decisions to schools' Board of Trustees, banning many "diversity" programs, and more. This is all on top of banning the AP African American history course as well as requesting that schools submit information about trans students receiving gender affirming care to the state. We talk through how these dynamics could impact the college sport landscape and what prospective athletes could think about doing moving forward: take their labor outside of the state or attend HBCUs in Florida. We discuss the complicated structures coercing athletes to stay silent and compliant, and how athletes simultaneously always have more power than they think they do. The state propaganda photo op over Florida's new NIL legislation of governor Ron DeSantis with UF's athletic director and head football coach alongside counterparts at FSU and athletes has been used to link DeSantis's white supremacy with racial capitalism sport. Black coaches outside of Florida also have a role to play in the resistance, as do other athletes and athletic administrators whose salaries are paid by the exploitation of college athletic workers. While not an uplifting episode, we hope to urge listeners who are athletes, academics, sports journalists, and yes even coaches to stand up and openly resist Florida's fascism and attempt to create "silent and compliant" racialized workers across all industries and walks of life. We're a little bit late this week with the weekend's sports preview show due to a family bereavement during the week causing us to rip up the plans we had laid out. However the show must go on and we're joined by three county players who will be in action for their respective clubs this weekend in the Senior Championship Quarter Finals this week. With almost a total focus on the last eight teams in the Senior and Intermediate Football Championships this weekend we'll be looking at the fixtures for those 8 games and taking a look at the mindset behind some of the players expected to play a major role in those fixtures. We'll start with a look at the national league soccer (1.13) fixtures involving Leitrim athletes with Sligo Rovers and Peamount United both in FAI Cup and Women's National League action. Carrick Athletic Club's Gerard O'Donnell (2:07) will be attempting to win another national title in the 110m hurdles event at this weekend's National Athletic's Championships at Morton Stadium, Santry on Sunday afternoon. We'll be running through the entire fixture list (2:53) for the Senior & Intermediate Championship quarter finals and relegation play offs at both grades also. Finally we hear from Shane Quinn (8:18), Aidan Flynn (15:40) and Emlyn Mulligan (24:51) ahead of the crunch games this weekend. There's also a mention about the streaming service and the new platform to watch them including the pricing and way to sign up for the only way to get yourself behind closed doors this weekend and actually see the football action for yourself in the comfort of your own home.

For the first 42 years of his life, Dallas was a guy who "wouldn't be caught dead" doing yoga, or anything like it.When he ruptured his L4 and L5 spinal discs during the height of his professional wrestling career, he was so desperate to keep his childhood dream alive, he was willing to try anything. So he tried yoga for the first time in his life.Because Dallas (DDP) had so much experience in many other areas of fitness, he quickly started mixing elements of yoga with his rehab and traditional calisthenics. For almost a decade, DDP has refined his program and has become a master at teaching it to others, as well as motivating individuals to believe that anything is possible with dedication and hard work.Along the way, Dallas learned that very deconditioned men and women could do DDP YOGA as well -- he was amazed to see stories of people doing DDP YOGA losing literally hundreds of pounds! As Dallas puts it, "weight loss just happens to be a really AWESOME side effect of DDP YOGA!"DDP Yoga combines the very best of yoga, old-school calisthenics, sports rehabilitation therapy and dynamic resistance to create one of the most effective fitness plans in existence today. It allows anyone to:Get a kick-ass cardio workoutIncrease flexibilityStrengthen core musclesExperience almost no joint impactWhat Makes DDPY Different Than Traditional Yoga and Other Fitness Programs? What separates DDP Yoga from all other kinds of yoga is not just that it is fronted by a celebrity, or that the program combines yoga positions and calisthenics with physical therapy principles, or even that it has an interactive app that lets its users do the workouts from anywhere, but that DDPY is something that anybody at any age or skill level can do. Unlike traditional yoga, DDP Yoga isn't just stretching, it's stretching and strengthening your muscles, ligaments, and tendons.DDP Yoga may have a strong celebrity following (e.g. Darius Rucker, Chris Jericho, A.J. Styles, Gabriel Iglesias), but the program is rooted in adaptability and “making it your own.” Finding the motivation to start doing DDPY is often the major hurdle for people, as it may entail trying things that were not originally part of their lifestyle. In addition to steadily completing the workouts, followers of DDPY are encouraged to reconsider their diets and overall attitude. When following all of these concepts, results are nearly guaranteed. Just ask military veteran Arthur Boorman , who previously walked with crutches and leg braces, or Jared Mollenkopf, who lost around 300 pounds in a little over a year.
