In Part 1, our frequent show guest, John Cassler, gave us a crash course on the history of cinema and film score music, as well as going over some common music terms associated with composers and film scores. For Part 2, we will be talking about and highlighting three of the six most influential film score composers (in our opinion) of all time. We will talk about the master of leitmotifs, John Williams, the experimental and profound style of, Hans Zimmer, and the epic and episodic musical storytelling that is created by, Howard Shore. All of these composers are masters of their craft and are responsible for some of the most iconic and inspiring moments in music and cinema in the past century. We will be learning about their lives and talking about some of the fantastic films that they have been a part of creating music for. We will also be talking about the difference between film score music, and soundtrack music, since we failed to explain that in Part 1.. (Sorry).. And just in case you were worried, we will also be making a lot of bad jokes and getting off on random absurd tangents again, just like always. :) John Cassler, (Who you may know from our 11th episode on the history of music videos..) is a fantastic and knowledgeable photographer/videographer. He came fully prepared and educated on the history of cinema and the big film score composers that we will be talking about throughout these episode segments. We were honored to have him back on our show, and are extremely grateful for him giving us so much of his time. Happy belated birthday John and thank you for being so patient with us while we were working to get this episode released. When people who are avid fans talk about their favorite musicians or artists, a lot of times they can tell you everything about them.. Where they were born, what their life was like growing up, what inspired them to start creating music. That's what being a super fan is all about! But when we think of musicians, a lot of times we only think about bands that tour the world and are mainly listened to on Spotify or Apple Music.. We don't often think about film score composers.. Many people know of some of the big film score composers like, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, etc. But have you ever thought about what their lives were like, and what inspired them to create the music they do? If asked, would you be able to tell someone their back story? Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a film score composer? These are some of the questions we're going to attempt to answer on this episode of our show! This episode we are joined by our good friend and returning show guest, John Cassler. John, (Who you may know from our 11th episode on the history of music videos..) is a fantastic and knowledgeable photographer/videographer. He came fully prepared and educated on the history of cinema and the 6 big film score composers. We were honored to have him back on our show, and are extremely grateful for him giving us so much of his time. On the first segment of episode #20, John will be giving us a crash course on the history of cinema, and film score music, as well as going over some music terms.. And there might just be some unexpected tangents, bad humor, and Jurassic Park references provided by Nik and Ryan in addition as well. ;) Thanks for listening and we hope you enjoy. It's a bittersweet moment posting the final segment of our artist spotlight with Joey Cook. It was truly such a fun experience and amazing opportunity to get to talk to her. We want to give yet another huge thanks to her, Boleyn Records, Artist JJ Braves, Kyi (Head of A&R and Marketing at Boleyn Records), and everyone else involved with making this episode happen. We hope we get to work with them again at some point in the future. We also wanted to thank our listeners. We know we say this a lot but without you, the person reading this right now, we would not be able to keep this podcast that we love going. Thanks to all of our amazing supporters that keep giving us the motivation to keep moving forward and creating things that we're passionate about. In this episode we got to talk to Joey about her music video for her single "End of the World" that dropped on August 11th, 2022.. And when we tell you that it is her music video, we really do mean HER music video. We learned that Joey imagined, designed, created, recorded, and edited literally everything that you see and hear in her music video for End of the World. She truly did put her full self into the making of the video. But don't take our word for it, listen and hear about it for yourself! And we hope that you will go watch her music video as well as we really do think it is something with depth that's charming and unique! We also talked to Joey about future projects and ideas that she's working on, as well as what she hopes to accomplish not only with her music but in other areas of her life and with her fans. We also touch on things like mental health, Joey's family, Joey's trajectory and how we all inevitably affect people, and even about strapping GoPros to peoples heads. It's another fully packed episode segment and is a great wrap up to another incredible artist spotlight. We hope you enjoy it. We had the unique and amazing opportunity to have artist Joey Cook on our show to tell us her incredible story. Special thanks to Joey, as well as Kyi and JJ Braves of Boleyn Records for putting us in touch with her! We're honored to continue to be able to work with such amazing people, and to be able to have these amazing artists come on our show to share their message with our listeners. We hope you enjoy this episode! In part 1 of our 3 part artist spotlight, Joey will tell us about the start of her music career, and how she went from a music enthusiast and avid singer/songwriter, to an enormously popular celebrity overnight when she was one of the few people chosen to be on the fourteenth season of the show American Idol. Debuting on American Idol isn't the only interesting story from her past that she has to share though. In this segment we also delve into everything from her past projects, how she became involved with Boleyn Records, the many celebs and artists that she's worked with, COVID, drug addiction, and the many challenges that she had to overcome to be who she is today. We were really taken by Joey's story, and genuine personality, and had a great time with her on the show. We hope you enjoy. When we were first contacted by Boleyn Records about checking out and interviewing their up and coming artist, JJ Braves, we were so excited! We felt very privileged and honored that they had reached out to us, and we knew it was going to be an amazing time. We did not know that we would come out of the experience feeling like we met and got to know some truly amazing people though, and that we would make some amazing new friends throughout the process. Big thanks to JJ Braves (Josh) and Kyi (Head of H&R and Marketing at Boleyn Records) for taking a chance on this podcast. And big thanks to everyone involved who made this episode possible! We hope you enjoy it. JJ Braves is and Alternative/Indie artist that is probably one of the most humble, talented and down to earth people that we've had on our show so far. But don't take our word for it. Listen to the episode and find out for yourself. We encourage you to listen to his music, and find and follow/support him on social media. Come along with us today for what will be our final episode of season one! It is a bittersweet moment for us. The first season here at Transmitter has truly been amazing as well as challenging! We've learned a lot about recording, and made lots of friends. We've been able to start building a team, and purchase new equipment so that future seasons of our podcast will sound even better, and release in a more timely manner. And we've been able to reach lots of listeners like YOU that have been so supportive and incredible. WE would not be here recording and doing what we do, without YOU. Thank you! Since you all have been so amazing, we thought we would center our last episode around you, our listeners. Awhile back we had the honor and the opportunity to sit down on the phone and talk with one of our listeners, Andre! Andre is a musician/artist that lives here in the states and reached out to us on Instagram. He's very into Nu Metal music and has a huge and diverse catalog of music he's mixed and produced that includes a whole spectrum of different music genres. It was great to get to talk with another music lover and ask him questions about his creative process. If you want to listen to some of Andre's work follow this link to his linktree---> https://linktr.ee/ifaseunsfuneral Special thanks to Andre for being a part of our show. Happy Holidays everyone! We're back with a deep cut episode from back in June 2020 to close out the year. In this episode, we'll be getting back to basics. We'll be talking about a couple albums and bands that we love. We'll also briefly get into some things that have happened in the year 2020, and tell you our opinions on some of the events that have transpired! This episode is about looking back at the past, and also looking forward to the future ahead of us! We will also be saying adieu to the Rock and Roll genre for a brief time, while we prepare to talk about Hip-Hop in our next season of Transmitter. It's been a challenging, but amazing year, and we can't thank YOU (our listeners) enough for everything.. And for those of you that want just one more episode talking about rock music.. Throughout this episode, just like with our fourth episode, we'll be discussing how music changes with each passing generation. This time though, we'll be going further back in time. We'll be talking with someone who has seen and experienced some of the most memorable and special moments in music history. We want to thank Adam so much for being a part of our show. Aside from butchering the pronunciation of Jordan Kocherhan's last name at the first of this episode, we think this interview turned out nicely. Join us as we interview the lead vocalist of a local up-and-coming band from Utah called, you guessed it, Private School Boys. This band is of a shredding, conceptual, rhythmic, and ambient nature, with a sound that is reminiscent of bands like "Muse", "Pink Floyd", "The Beatles", and "The Neighborhood". We were extremely lucky and honored to be able to interview a member of this band, as they are undoubtedly going to do great things. In this interview we will get to know Jordan, and learn about the rest of the band members (Kennen Brooks, Taylor Adam, Alex Wylie) and their background. We will also talk about their new amazing EP that was just released called "Private Beach". You can find this EP on any popular music streaming platform. It is also worth noting that the EP was mixed, recorded, mastered, and produced by none other than Joe Cassler, of the band "BLIX10", that has been on our show in the past. Joe’s brother, John Cassler, also helped and was the main photographer. Talking with Jordan was very inspiring, and you could hear the passion he has for music come through in this interview. We encourage you to visit the band's Facebook page, their YouTube channel, and other social media that they're on. Just search for "Private School Boys". You can also see them perform live with BLIX10 on March 25th, 2020. (for details keep an eye out on the band's Facebook page.) We are excited to announce that we are officially sponsored by "I Engrave Stuff" and we have a water bottle and a wireless charger that can be purchased on their website! "iengravestuff.com". Join us as we welcome Joe Cassler, from our Linkin Park episode, back to our show. This episode, Joe takes us on a journey through the different eras of music production.. We will talk about how music was created and distributed throughout different periods in history, and how the modern digital/streaming era has influenced music and musicians today. We owe Joe a big thanks for letting us record in his very own at home studio with professional equipment. It was truly an honor. During this podcast we also talk about Joe's extensive background in music and hear his inspiring story. Our listeners will also get to hear some of the music he and his band created. It was truly a pleasure, as always, to have him on the show, and we hope to have him on again soon. You can find and support Joe, his band, and his colleagues by heading to the following sources... Nik and I have been talking a lot about the Rock genre since we've started this podcast, and we will continue to do so often as it is our strong suit. For this episode though, we thought our listeners could use a well-deserved break from Rock N' Roll in it's many forms.. We had the opportunity recently to record an episode with a good friend of ours, McKay Wood. McKay is an avid and passionate fan of the EDM genre. On top of that, he is also running his own laser-engraving company "I Engrave Stuff", and is a drummer, and a member of the band "BLIX10". It was truly an honor to have him as a guest on our show. We look forward to hopefully creating many more episodes with him in the future. If you're a fan of EDM music, this episode is for you. If you are new to EDM, or have never heard of this genre of music before, this episode can help introduce you to the genre and hopefully teach you a few things about its history. For those of you who are interested in learning more about McKay and his company, you can find him on his website "iengravestuff.com", or Instagram at "iengravestuff", he also has a personal Instagram account "mcwoodydrum", and a Facebook Page titled "I Engrave Stuff". Throughout our third episode we will be talking about renowned Nu-Metal band System of a Down's song "Chop Suey". We talk about why we think this is one of the most well crafted Nu-Metal songs of all time, what we think it means, and how it has affected the landscape of music. The album "Toxicity" was released during a very politically super-charged time, and it was a very diverse and fresh take on the Nu-Metal Genre that has withstood time very well. Throughout this episode we will be talking briefly about the history of Nu-Metal. Although it is a controversial subject, we felt that it would be a good subject to talk about after our episode on Linkin park. (Which is a well known, predominantly Nu-Metal band.) Many people cast the Sub-Genre of Nu-Metal in a negative light, saying that it was an era of music that is regrettable. We would politely disagree.. Although much of the music that is considered "Nu-Metal" hasn't necessarily aged well, we still feel that it was a needed step for music. Without it, music wouldn't have branched out and became what it is today. so sit back, relax, listen, and enjoy. The Transmitter team doesn’t have a life changing origin or backstory; We’re just a group of people that loves music in all of its different forms or genres. Our goal is to share what we know about music with the world, and try our best to entertain you while we do it. Our podcast will talk about things like music history, specific bands/artists, genres, albums, songs, and much more. We are committed to providing our listeners and followers with quality content that is educational as well as fun. We will always try our best to be responsive and respectful to everyone we interact with on social media. No matter who you are, music has likely affected you in some shape or form. It can make you feel the whole spectrum of human emotions, and can understand you when no one else can. It can bring feelings of nostalgia and melancholy, as well as pick us up when we feel down, and give us confidence when we have none. That’s why we feel that it is important to talk about here at Transmitter. It is our passion. Is music important to you? If so, follow us today and help us help music change the world.
