As out of hospital providers, we work with low risk clients. There are some gray areas to what is considered low risk and what is considered high risk. Today we discuss some of those factors and how difficult it can be to make the call that someone is too high risk for our care.

Certified Midwives In Virginia are trained to possess and administer medications for birth. Our law in Virginia prohibits midwives from doing this. Midwives In all states but 2 legally can use medications to help make birth safer. The Virginia Midwives For Safe Community Births are actively working to change this outdated and dangerous law. It is said that 1 in 4 women have experienced sexual assault in their lifetime. It's not a fun subject, but it affects so many people. Being a survivor of sexual assault can alter the way we experience birth and birth can very often trigger trauma. Today we interview Chelsea, a mom of 3 and sexual assault survivor. We hope to help other survivors to have the best birth possible for them. We also want to try and bring some education to other providers about how they can be supportive to survivors.
