Unscrambling Grief TalkDonna and I met Gail Ruth Miller on our journey of meeting people every day. This is Gail's recorded talk "Unscrambling Grief " from the Adelaide Entrepreneur Club event at the Archer Hotel on Thursday 15 July 2021.Married for 44 years, Gail and Ron have two adult children. They're a seemingly ordinary, happy family, but delve into their past and it wasn't always so rosy.Imagine Gail's reaction when someone thanked her for saving their life?An unlikely friendship began when she gifted a copy of her Unscrambling Grief book to a lady who shared that it was the 1st anniversary of her husband's death.Short conversations ensued over time, but all the while Gail was just being herself, with a listening ear.Little did she know the impact she was having.Although Gail's walked the path of adversity, she's emerged with an attitude that allows her to find the good in almost any situation. Intrigued? Join us for an enlightening presentation as Gail shares her emotional roller-coaster ride and the positive lessons learnt along the way.
Over the years, millions of wine lovers have driven past the town of Napa on the way to wine country without stopping. Now, thanks to a significant investment and redevelopment effort, downtown Napa is becoming the focal point for wine lovers heading north into the valley, or taking a tour of Sonoma as well. The Archer Hotel caters to every taste and provides a relaxing oasis after a day on the wine trails.

Todd Zapolski, real estate developer extraordinaire, joins me on this week’s podcast to discuss his latest triumph - the Archer Hotel and First Street Napa. He shares how he got his start in real estate, how he and the late Leslie Rudd built a portfolio worth in excess of a half a billion dollars in assets, and the many challenges he faced in developing three entire blocks in downtown Napa – from the 2014 earthquake to the 2016 floods and the 2017 October wildfires. We talk about tourism, luxury investment in Napa proper and much more.
The great American chef Charlie Palmer sat down with Andrew the other day at the top of the Archer Hotel in Midtown Manhattan to talk over his life and career, from The River Cafe to Aureole to his collection of restaurants on both coasts of the United States. During this free-ranging interview, they also discuss the relevancy of sports to cooking; teamwork in the kitchen; and how he keeps things fresh after all this time. (Note: This is a wonderful companion interview to our next episode, with Claire Welle.)
