Joel Fleetwood and his Meat Rushmore BBQ team is fresh off an impressive rarity, KCBS Grand Championships on back-to-back weekends. On Episode 220 of the Tailgate Guys BBQ Podcast, we visit with Joel about how it happened and what it feels like to be hitting on all cooking cylinders as Meat Rushmore has risen to No. 15 in the KCBS Team of the Year standings. Before heading to this weekend’s American Royal World Series of BBQ at Kansas Speedway, Wes Patterson of Missouri-based Wood Hook BBQ stops in-studio to preview the event. Wood Hook was an impressive 17th last year in its first trip to The Royal. Wes also talks about cooking teammate Scott Britton who is fighting cancer and how the BBQ and Law Enforcement communities are banding together to raise funds for Scott’s medical expenses.
